The Outlanders series created by Mark Ellis is brought to an impressive conclusion by Rik Hoskin. It's an epic adventure across two continents and involving all the significant characters we've come to admire in the Cerberus organisation. The author also cleverly weaves in elements from every previous book since his series debut with "Death Cry". As well as taking the story back to be very first contact between the cruel reptilian (in this physical reality) Annunaki and humanity, a prologue which leads to a startling revelation much later on.
Lot of imaginative ideas like an army of blind men who use alien senses, and organic technology that seems more like hi-tech voodoo. The central characters are a great combination of intelligence, fighting skills and humour. Plenty of action, and because this is the last of the series, there's the real threat that this time some of our heroes may not make it to the last page. It is an excellent SF action yarn and a fitting conclusion to a popular US pulp series.
