For years, Nick Pavlidis felt stuck.

He worked hard, believing he was doing what was best for his family. Over the years, the combination of long hours, unpredictable schedules, and a growing family took its toll.

Nick tried everything he could think of to improve his marriage, but nothing worked - including nights on that old couch. Nick soon realized he was not only the problem in the relationship, but also the solution .

In Confessions of a Terrible Husband(TM): Lessons Learned from a Lumpy Couch , Nick takes you inside the mind (and house) of a husband who thought he knew it all.

Nick’s story is honest, funny, and hopeful. Both husbands and wives will enjoy the process he undertook to become a more loving and engaged husband and father - a process you can explore to grow your relationship, too, no matter how great it already is.

In your face Truth

Poignant, articulate, cutting, and revealing. I plan on keeping it as a part of my personal arsenal. Precise identification of common practices that turn good people into bad partners.

This is me

After 3 marriages, I'm finally doing better. Sometimes I get prideful, because I think I'm doing good and then God opens my eyes. I have apologized to wife number 1 for me being a terrible husband and now I need to do the same for wife 2. My wife now deserves my best and I need to give her that. I still struggle with the comments and noises that I make when asked to do something. Nick has helped me realize that I need to be a better husband.

I did enjoy this book at times and related in some ways. It would be a lot more relevant for someone who was waking up to realize that their relationship was falling apart due to too much work or selfishness in general.

Solid points

I enjoyed this book overall. I felt like I was getting products pushed in my face a few times, but it wasn't too distracting from the point. Be intentional in your relationships and you will get more from them.

Many good reminders at how to make marriage work better. I wish there were more of that advice & less about his near-death experience
