Trish Morey always fancied herself a writer, but was sternly advised that she better better think about getting a real job instead. Which Trish figures must be why she spent her university years washing dishes in a Chinese restaurant by night and picking gherkins for an Adelaide Hills primary producer by day. (Enough to put you off "real jobs" for life).
It was another twelve years, an accounting career and two babies on that Trish once again turned her mind to writing. it was a further eleven years (and two more babies:)) before Trish sold her first book to Harlequin Presents, and her dream of being a published author came true.
Some forty books later, Trish is now an award winning and USA Today Bestselling Author of some 40+ books. Trish still loves writing romance but these days combines it with all the fun, drama and sisterhood of women, family and girlfriends.
When she’s not out traveling the world in search of inspiration for her stories, Trish lives with her husband, Daisy their over enthusiastic Cavoodle pup, Daisy, and Leo, their very old and totally unenthusiastic cat, down on the glorious South Coast of South Australia where the waves crash over the granite rocks and splash upon the golden sands.
Sheikh Tajik, the ruler of yet another small Middle Eastern country that exists only in Harlequinlandia, needs a wife ASAP so that he doesn’t have to marry his 14 year-old cousin. But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It’s a young woman! He can’t see her face but he does see that she is dressed conservatively so she must not be like those other loose Australian women who parade about on the beaches in bikinis (oh the horror!). She is perfect! How….convenient! He will just seduce her into coming to his desert kingdom where he will make her his wife.
Morgan Fielding is spending a few weeks as a caretaker to a middle-aged woman from a small country in the Middle East. She is instantly smitten by Sheikh Tajik when he introduces himself. His eyes are so golden. Power clings to his skin and shoots out of his golden eyes. But then again he is a stallion of a man and has probably been with beautiful women from all over the world and she just can’t resist his overwhelming masculine presence.
Tajik manages to convince Morgan to come to his kingdom under the guise of helping out his mother for a few weeks. He tries to seduce her on the plane ride, which of course is luxuriously appointed like a small apartment, but she manages to resist somehow despite his drugging kisses that rob her of her senses. Upon arriving at the palace, Tajik introduces Morgan as his intended bride – and decides to change her name to Murjanah because he feels like it (hey why not?). When Morgan demands to know what is going on, Tajik informs her that she is in his kingdom now and he simply had to decree she was his wife to make the marriage formal (??? Um yeah that doesn’t sound legal). Morgan tries to tell him she doesn’t want to marry him but Mr. Sheikhy McSheikhy Pants decided she would be perfect for him (she was convenient after all) so she better just come to terms with being his wife. In fact, he starts to seduce her and she just can’t resist his unrelenting machismo and sexual ardor (and she worries if he will fit! And will she be woman enough for this much of a man!). But once he touches her most feminine place, he finds that she is a virgin! A convenient virgin no less! Then he had to deny himself and “paced across the room, a rampaging stallion refused his mare.” Since she is a virgin, that kind of treasure should be prized, not pillaged by a rampaging stallion of a man. So he decides to have a big wedding feast in the desert to announce her as his wife to his people and give him a proper place to claim his virginity prize. They go out to his palace in the desert where they fall in love despite him kidnapping her because he is an excellent lover (which she knows because she read some magazines) and is considerate enough to let her sister visit her in a few months (the man is a saint!).
Well, as you can see I got a kick out of this book. The writing was pretty juvenile but it wasn’t awful. There were some strange word choices throughout the book and some obvious misspelled words. You aren’t missing anything if you don’t read this one but it was an amusing way for me to spend a few hours.
"The Sheikh's Convenient Virgin" is the story of Morgan and Tajik.
A fairy-tale rags to riches romance, in which the heroine- who is working as the queen's companion- suddenly finds herself whisked to the desert kingdom in Jamalbad. What she soon realizes is that the hero, the Sheikh to the throne, has chosen her as his bride for her purity! There is minimal drama in this book, but there is a determined hero, a confused heroine, loads of sex, wild attraction, some archaic misogynistic thinking, an out of nowhere revenge plot and HEA.
I enjoyed this book. It was sweet and hot. I loved the characters and felt their sexual attraction. The love that grew between these two was believable. I love how TM describes the beautiful scenery. I can just imagine myself in such a beautiful place. Makes me want to move to the desert!!!
Slighly crazy Stockholm Syndrome story. One of the nuttier Sheikhs that actually kidnaps a woman to pass off as a pseudo-virgin and trick into marrying him, but then when he finds out she's an actual virgin, he is like OMG I was so tempted to pillage you right now like a rutting bull, but now I know you are a Precious Treasure we must wait until after the reception and take your rarest pearl in the manner you deserve. Hey---fuck you, buddy. Don't pay lip service to the belief that the virginity requirement for brides is a "classic double standard" in chapter 1 and then get all excited about planting your flag in her uncharted territory by chapter 6-7. Pick a stance.

Though I am really beginning to love the whole "Sheikh" mystique, this one didn't do it for me. I just could not like the hero in anyway. He was selfish and condescending and the story line just felt so unreal. Being literally abducted under false pretenses and forced into marriage. The Hero saying I don't need you to love me.... I would not recommend this one.
