I am finally free.

This is my chance for a fresh start.
My chance to live the way I want to.
Boston is my destination.

Just when I think things are going to get better from here, I meet him.

Malcolm Davis.

He is the image of masculinity, with rough edges I would love to soften. Although I wonder what it would be like to be with a man like him, I know it would never work. But, I do know two things, ever since I met him, I’m happy and he makes me feel safe. Both of those things lured me into taking a chance. I mean what’s life without taking any chances? It’s not much of a life without the risk of getting your heart broken.

I imagine that for Malcolm Davis, falling in love with someone would be akin to a hurricane; anything that stands in the path of what he wants; gets demolished.

Well, I guess my theory will be put to the test.

Nothing against the writing which was perfectly fine but the 'hero' Malcolm has got to be the worst specimen of man whore created this year.I guess this author just makes her male characters too believable as a-holes so when the grand finale does occur their avowals of love & HEA is just a tad bit too unbelievable.

I was not convinced of any kind of love between him & the female character. He had 'chemistry' with any women on her knees which was common in this book & fucked anything with a pulse before meeting her, during having 'feelings' for her & at 90% of the book.Him & his friend Trent targeted barely legal college women that were all whores, bitches & sluts to be used & discarded according to their 'bible'

Never trust a man who sees a single woman as a Goddess & the rest of the female population as a fork on the freeway.

This is a debut novel for T.E. Black and I was surprised by the intensity of the characters. Both Malcolm and Callie were well portrayed and very lovable. Each were fierce and sweet in their own rights. They are definitely outgoing characters that captures you as a reader from the start.

Callie's heartbreak and guilt over the fatal accident which took her fiance, has given her years of therapy as she slipped into a painful depression. Her parents has kept her grounded for years, ensuring she goes through the necessary therapy before she commits to her dream college in Boston. Finally getting the ok, after her many therapy sessions, Callie is set and ready to go.

Moving to Boston, Callie meets Mac. The friend of her best friend's boyfriend. Instantly, she is taken back by his outgoing persona and his looks. Malcolm Davis is the whoring, bad boy of Boston. He's gorgeous, tatted, muscular and has the bad ass, take no prisoners attitude to prove it. And, boy! does Mac rock his sexiness.

Malcolm Davis was a rebellious bad boy, adopted at sixteen, in the system since birth. He was shocked that his parents wanted a sixteen year old. But what shocked him more, was the love and undevoted attention they gave him. His father teaching his about cars, gave Mac a way to earn money and a renewed passion for life.

Both him and Callie have this instant attraction to each other. Mac doesn't want to admit the way Callie affects him. It isn't simply about her looks, but the way she makes him feel. She's special and he can't deny the strong feelings he has for her.

This girl isn't just hot. She's beautiful, kind, and funny.
And as much as I try to tell myself I only want her for one night, the truth is...I'm completely fucked.

Callie wants to focus on school. She's too afraid to get close to anyone because her guilt over losing her fiance, Derrick, haunts her present. Her nightmares are endless, cold sweat, blood and utter despair. Callie can't afford to lose anyone else. She friend zones Mac instantly. Even though their interactions are anything but friendly, she can't seem to move past it.

I was perturbed by Callie's hot and cold behaviour at times. One minute it's all dandy, then when her relationship with Mac becomes too intense she takes a step back and bam! they're back to step one. Mac on the other hand, wants Callie so bad, that he is willing to turn over a new leaf. Even though his past causes him heartbreak, his loss shatters him everyday. Losing a loved one, is never easy, especially when he tried to save her. He believes he isn't good enough for Callie, but he's more than willing to try, not withstanding his many mistakes.

Soon we see both Callie and Mac relenting and the start of their relationship is bitter sweet. Mac's past catches up to them and causes some road bumps along the way. These two are so perfect for the other. Each even more stubborn than the other, always battling the small things, yet they are filled with so much love. That their trials only strengthen them. Ensuring they come out on top.

"I'm the poison and she is the cure. Without each other neither one of us will exist."

A sweet and loveable story that will make you fall in love all over again. Renewing your youthful years and making you reminisce about past loves. Finding A Way is synonymous with it's name.

Love, love, LOVED this book! I usually never read synopsis’ anymore. If I do, I usually forget it by the time I start the book. This book was not what I expected it to be. I had a feeling something happened to one of the characters, but not like this. But all good things – I adored this book and I could not put it down.

Callie has fallen into a depression after a fatal car accident that took the life of her fiance. Grieve stricken, but determined to continue on with her life, her parents force her to follow through with her therapy. After receiving the “O.K.” from her therapist, she packs her things and moves to Chicago to pursue her dream of going to university there. She is staying with Sierra and her boyfriend. She is then introduced to the drop dead, panty dropping, Mac. In Chicago, he is very well known; all the ladies know of him and know how he is in bed. Not only does Callie have a rough past, Mac also has one. In and out of the foster system, he was finally adopted to a loving family at 16 years old. But that’s not all, he’s lost someone very close to him in a tragic way as well. Lives for these two haven’t been easy to say the least…

Callie and Mac were the cutest, yet most frustrating couple. I wanted to strangle the two of them for a long time! Their chemistry even at the beginning is (at least I think) the kind of love everyone wants. Mac was seriously just drop dead sexy. Dear lord, I highlighted this book like CRAZY!

This being T.E.’s debut, I’m blown away with her writing. You’d think she’s been a writer a long time and has a bunch of books published… Nope. This is her first and I know in time, her books are only going to get even better. She has become a favorite author of mine even with just reading one book.

Can’t praise this book enough- I WILL own a paperback very soon to add to my shelves! Highly recommended! But take into consideration the emotional toll this will take on you- it’s not a light read. But, oh was the heart break totally worth it!

Finding A Way is the debut novel for author T.E. Black and overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It is an emotional read that at times made me want to cry and at other times make me want to scream...WTH!!! My rating for this book is 3.5 stars and would have been much higher if Mac wasn't such a manwhore who treated women like crap throughout more than the first half of the book. His behavior was very hard to swallow many times and made it hard for me to embrace his love for Callie. With that said, the book otherwise was very well written and I enjoyed seeing two broken souls finding happiness in each other making them whole. Would love to see Trent and Shay's story next but hope Trent will be a little more respectful to women. From what I have seen thus far, I am highly doubting it.

**JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW**

I read the synopsis for this book and I was eager to get my hands on it. I absolutely loved how the author tells this story in dual POV. Both of these characters are complicated and both just want to live life with no attachments. The prologue was an emotional one where we get to see Callie’s loving relationship with Derrick, the love she lost.

Callie is character that I fell for immediately. For the past 3 years she has lived in a constant state of depression and blaming herself for the accident that took her fiancé’s life. Her parents have dictated her life for all these years and now she if finally free. She is moving to Boston with her best friend Sierra and is ready to live again, but she wants to be single. I could feel Callie’s pain from her loss but also her willingness to try to be a normal 20 year old young woman by being free and making her own decisions. When Sierra and her boyfriend Evan show up to move her to Boston they bring one of Evan’s friends along with.

Malcolm (OH MY WORD) I love this character. With Sierra constantly talking about Callie, he is definitely interested and decides he is going to make that drive to Pennsylvania, see this woman and then go back to his free loving ways. Yeah, Right! As soon as Malcolm lays eyes on Callie he has this instant want. Malcolm does not do relationships and he has never had a problem with sending women on their way once they are finished. So, he definitely questions why in the world he cannot stop thinking about Callie.

Callie and Malcolm do have an intense and powerful connection, but since neither wants to be in relationship they choose to remain friends. There is some angst and drama in this story but it is also a beautiful love story. Malcolm was totally possessive and at times he made poor decisions. Callie on the other hand knew finding a love like the one she lost was a gift, one that she did not want to lose. Their plan to remain single is tested. Callie is still fighting her past demons. Can Malcolm accept Callie despite the ghosts in her past? Can Callie get past his man-whore ways? Come take the journey with a very strong Callie and a determined Malcolm, it is one you do not want to miss.

This book is about second chances and embracing life and love. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel; you just have to keep going until you see it.

Callie had what anyone from the outside who deem the perfect life growing up; rich family, nice house, best of everything, perfect boyfriend and a great best friend. All these things, minus the great best friend and the boyfriend were not what made Callie happy. Callie had something horrible happen to her that no one should ever have to go through. Callie is finally getting her life back and moving to Boston to go to college. This is where Mac is introduced.

Mac is one hot man! He has had a rough life himself and has his own tragic past that has shaped the way he is in the present. Mac screws up left and right but that made him more real to me. He wasn’t perfect. The ways he reacted and acted were not perfect. They were real life. Don’t get me wrong he more than makes up for everything but I love an imperfect hero.

Callie and Mac’s story happens quickly but it is no less real. They fight, argue, try to be friends, try to be more, make mistakes, make up and do everything a real couple does but they do it in a short time. I really loved Callie, Mac, Nanook, Sierra and Evan, Trent and Shay. The story flowed well and was well written. I can’t wait to read Trent and Shay’s story and hopefully get glimpses into the rest of the gang’s lives as well.

I received an ARC of Finding a Way from United Indie Book Blog in exchange for an honest review.

I have to be honest. I’ve been “meeting” new authors left and right and I have to say they are really hitting the mark. T. E. Black’s debut novel, Finding a Way, was no exception. The story arc may have been slightly predictable but I loved the pace and I enjoyed the characters.

Callie has been consumed with guilt and regret and is having a difficult time letting go and moving on after a tragic loss. She’s decided to make a move. Moving to Boston may prove to be her best decision yet.

Malcolm Davis is a good guy and really sweet. He has quite a sordid past. But he has overcome many obstacles and is just trying to move forward.

Neither one is expecting the relationship that blossoms between them. Least of all Callie. But the happiness and safety that she associates with Mac is hard to ignore. Not to mention the chemistry. I loved the build up with these two. But what I couldn’t get over was how incredibly sweet Mac was. Sure, he wasn’t perfect but he truly cared for Callie even before he realized it. This was certainly an enjoyable story that I am hoping will continue in some fashion with more from these two or secondary characters that were introduced. Whichever way it happens I would love to see more Mac & Callie!

Callie has suffered a lot with her previous boyfriend. After three years of therapy she is finally free and ready to start a new life. She moves away from her parents and goes to live with her best friend and her best friends’s boyfriend.

There she meets Malcolm Davis, he is really sexy and charming. He is know for his manwhore abilities. When Malcolm Davis meets Callie he got captivated and wanted to know her more. At first he believes that he needs to get her out if his system but then he understand that she is the one for him.

Callie also likes Malcolm since the begging but she is afraid to give her heart away again. She is also afraid that she isn't capable to trust and love again. Malcolm now has to try to win her heart and make her believe that their relationship is worth fighting for.

The book is an excellent and easy read. I like the fact that is not full on angst and even though there are problems between both of them, the problems are solved fast. The story is precise and I really enjoy reading it.

This book is the first of the Unexpected Love series but the second book will only have interconnected characters. I hope that the second is as good as this one or even better. The male character of the second book also appears in Finding a Way and he got me interested. Can’t wait to read the next.

Finding A Way (Unexpected Love #1) by T.E. Black
5 Stars!

A debut novel? I’m stunned! Wow! This was such a wonderful story from first time author T.E. Black!

Finding A Way was original, captivating and very well written, I could not put it down and found myself reading into the morning! I needed to find out what was going to happen next. It was a definite page turner!

I fell hard for Mac. He’s rough around the edges, yet kind and loving. The conversations between Mac and his friends Trent and Evan had me in stitches and I really, really hope we get to see more of them in the future. I loved Callie from the beginning, what a feisty and strong woman! She has been through so much in her young life, and the author made me feel like I was a part of her journey. I enjoyed the love story of Mac and Callie, there were some stressful moments that had me almost throwing my kindle, but the beautiful and funny moments more than made up for that!

What an amazing read from T.E. Black! I absolutely loved her writing style and I cannot wait until her next book comes out!

I have no words to describe how honored I’m from receive this book early. This is the debut novel of the author and she don’t disappoint me. The Mac and Callie story get to my heart, is very well written and the plot seems to be just original and real. Callie is a strong heroine and I love her for that, what she pass is an awful situation but she rise and she got me. Mac o Mac what can I said about him, possessive, a little bit of alpha male and a sweet boy he got my heart too. I love the way you describe and write every part of the story, and I will definitely recommended. But one thing I wish I will have more of them and I hope you bring it on the second part of the series. We always have to find a way to become and success and you did it, the story is just perfect. Can’t wait for more! Well done girl! Hands Down!!!

Not sure if this is the authors first book or not but I feel like it is. I had to keep skipping over areas because they were too elementary. Yea there was a lot of smut but you could tell it was not the best. Hopefully she gets better the more she writes.

3.5 STARS

Finding a Way is the debut book from author T. E. Black and I have to say for a first book this one was a well written, interesting one.

Told in dual POV, Finding a Way tells the story of Callie and Mac, two twenty something people with a lot of baggage and their struggle to come to terms with their pasts and find a way to move forward. Callie is a girl who always had it all, rich parents who provided her with everything she needed, a guy who loved her more than anything, but who also caused her pain and an incredible BFF. But one night changes all that. Now we catch up with her three years after the tragedy which turned her life upside down. She’s ready to move on, finally being able to attend the college she had always wanted and move in with her BFF, Sierra and her boyfriend Evan. That’s how she meets Mac – the mysterious, tattooed guy who Sierra brought to help Callie move to Boston. Mac is Evan’s friend, but he’s also a man with a troubled past, a past that might make Callie think twice before getting together with him and in the end it might make or break their relationship.

While I liked the blurb and the beginning of the story, after about 35% I felt like I’m reading a different book – I though the author rushed Callie and Mac’s relationship when she shouldn’t have. Mac had more of a troubled past than Callie and I would’ve wanted to see a more gradual chance in him than the one I was given – it was an overnight character change and for me that was a bit off putting. The ending felt rushed as well – I love plot twists, but this one happened and was resolved all in 2 chapters – I’m a sucker for groveling and the hero didn’t have to do any of that.

The author’s voice was good through – she does a great male POV, and I loved reading Mac’s thoughts. The writing flowed effortlessly and it’s easy to follow – the balance between the heavy heartbreaking scenes and the more light, funny ones was just perfect. Her erotic scenes were well done as well – they weren’t meant to shock but mainly used to move the story forward.

All in all, Finding a Way had a lot of potential, but for me it felt short on the character development aspect. I like the H/h changes to occur before my eyes, not behind the curtains, so that’s why my rating is on the lower side. With that being said, I will definitely read more from this author – I’m already waiting for Ry’s story ;)

Sometimes things that seem random, usually small insignificant moments- sometimes those are the ones that sneak in and change your life. When it's right, as it is in Finding A Way, by T.E. Black, love does in fact find a way. In this 4 star, heartfelt romance, Mac and Callie overcome their traumatizing pasts and learn that it's ok to trust and love again. What starts out as a mutual attraction that they buried in a deep and genuine friendship becomes the one thing neither thought they'd ever want- true forever love. Both of them are great at getting in their own way and preventing happiness but thankfully they realize it's all worth the fight and never give up.

Callie is finally moving on after the tragic loss of her fiancée Derrick. She has some major trust issues because the jerk was a cruel drunk that cheated on her. She did what so many women do...twisted it around and somehow made it her fault. She was in the car when he died. She was witness to him being thrown through the windshield. The end result was anti-depressants and her trying to kill herself. Mac comes from his own tragic mess. He lost his ex to drugs and is still dealing with her very clingy little sister Caroline. For whatever reason, she's decided that her and Mac are meant to be and she won't leave him alone. Mac is pretty confused too and makes a bad decision after a big fight with Callie. Thankfully the two of them do eventually do finally put their heads together.

In the end, they do finally get over themselves and their pasts. They learn to trust in what they have and take a chance on each other. There is plenty of angst and romance. The sex between them is white hot. I do wish they would have spent a little less time battling demons and more time being happy. But they do finally get there. My absolute favorite side surprise in this book was Mac's dog Nanook. She's a total spaz and so much fun every time she's around. I really enjoyed this book. The story could have been a little more than just a girl meeting a guy that helped her move. In the end though, I wound up enjoying Mac and Callie together and as individuals so much that I didn't care so much how they met. It's a book that I would most definitely read again and that I would certainly recommend to my friends. It's just impossible not to fall in love with Mac and Callie.

"This is it. My fresh start. My chance to start over and find myself."

I wasn't expecting the emotions to hit me from the get go but they definitely did. This is the story of Callie and Mac and their journey to trying to find a way to live and love without the emotional baggage of their past.

Callie really grew over the course of the story, it took time for me to connect with her but I loved her so much more when I did connect with her. I loved her friendship with Sierra, I think she definitely needed that kind of friendship .She went through a tragedy and carries a lot from the time with her but she's trying to start over and she really grows along with her strength and I think she definitely had her up and downs but always seemed positive too.

Mac's also had his demons from his past, similar yet so different. Mac's cocky wit and charm will have you falling for him so quick. He's a laid back guy, tough and hot with plenty of tattoo's! But, like Callie he also has a vulnerable side to him and sometimes I felt myself getting frustrated with Callie when Mac was vulnerable but both were on their own journey facing their own demons. Don't worry though Mac doesn't get off that easy, I soon got frustrated with him and wanted to throttle and hug him at the same time.

This was an amazing book. I loved i The spark between Mac and Callie was there almost immediately but their relationship, their story wasn't rushed, it was a kind of friends to lovers story. They definitely needed the slow pace and the care that T.E Black treated them with, even though at times I wanted to scream at them to finalize it already, get together right now just so my heart wouldn't feel like it was going to leap out of my chest. There's tense moments in this, emotional and even moments where you will possibly want to throw your reading device. For real, I literally ripped my glasses off my face as if that would stop it from happening lol! There are also very funny moments, especially that include a four legged creature! I hope there's more from Callie and Mac as well as the other characters we got to meet!

For a debut novel, I was thoroughly impressed from the first page all the way to the end. The author did a wonderful job sucking me in with a very intense prologue. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough just to see how Callie’s story would unfold.

One of the things I enjoy most about a book is when I feel strong emotions while reading it. I can certainly say I had many while reading this book. On several occasions, I wanted to toss my kindle. I felt the rainbow of emotions while reading due to well-developed characters.

I loved how Black brought two beautifully broken people together. Their connection was very real to me. I connected to Callie’s character and the journey she was on to put her life back together after a gut-wrenching tragedy. I enjoyed the character of Mac just as much. Life for both these characters had been anything but easy. Mac had gone through some horrific things in his past well. It made his man whore ways that more understandable. I didn’t necessarily like that side of him, but it was more than clear why he kept people at arm’s length. It was all that more believable to me why they were drawn to each other immediately. I loved watching their guards come down and seeing them open up their hearts. They were also unbelievably hot together in bed! The sweetness and hotness were well-balanced. Did I mention how hot the sex scenes were ;)

The secondary characters were also written very well. I enjoyed the humor they brought to the story and the seriousness when needed. I loved the world that the author created. There are plenty of directions that this series can go in the future, which is exciting for me as I’ll definitely be picking up anything this author writes.

To the author, congrats on an amazing debut novel. I thoroughly enjoyed every word and can’t wait to see what comes next from you!

3.5 stars I'm not sure what to say. I think this author has alot of potential I just didn't click with this book as others did so please don't base your one clicking finger on me. That being said the book was all over the place I understand not being sure what you want but this man was supposed to be 29. Callie was 23 I believe and I can understand her still being somewhat immature but both of these characters were like teens. Mac had been through alot and his personality was appealing but his choices fell flat for me. I think the author tried to bring more angst to the story but it didn't. It did make me sick in one scene I'm trying really hard not to give away the story. But anyways in this particular scene he has left someone who was going down on him and then goes to Callie that part was horrible in my opinion. I'm sorry please don't be mad I seriously hate writing reviews like this. OK now what did work take away all the whatever it was and you get a beautiful couple who starts off as friends. The chemistry between them is evident. This is the part I loved about Mac because he was seriously patient with her but he would then go back to no morals. Callie was deeply hurt by her ex who really was a horrible man in my opinion. But she built herself back up. She was actually to me the more mature one in this relationship. Again please don't go with my review everyone's opinions are different. I will be getting her next book because the characters are intriguing. I was given this book as an arc for an honest review from the author. Reviewing for Night and Day book blog http://ndbbr2014.com Stephanie Powell

Copy Received as a Gift

I love reading an author's debut novel!
In Finding A Way we meet Callie just as she gets ready to start a new life in Boston. She has spent the last 3 years under a doctor's care "recovering" from the tragic death of her fiancee. Her emotionally absent parents have held going to college over her head until she was deemed "cured." Mac comes to help her move and they are instantly attracted to each other. Mac has his own set of baggage and has been living from hook up to hook up to avoid being vulnerable again.
I have to admit that I liked the fact that even though Mac and Callie were instantly attracted to each other, they didn't act on it right away. Even though it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't work, they tried to be friends first and had the opportunity to get to know each other and form a bound.
These two had some rough spots, mainly because Mac was ready to go after a relationship with Callie before she was ready to try. Once they got together, they were off the charts hot.
It seemed like Mac and Callie moved to the "love" stage very quickly, but it seemed natural for the two of them. A mistake Mac made before they got together came back to bite him and it could have been a big hurdle for his new relationship with Callie. My respect for her shot up when she listened to what was going on and stood beside him until the issue was resolved.
There were a couple of times that things seemed to happen a little fast or issues that came up and never were really addressed again, but nothing major. All were issues that could be forgiven considering it is Ms. Black's debut work. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Ms. Black's next book. Not only do I want to see Trent's story, I am looking forward to her growth as an author.

Callie Matthews has spent the last few years drowning in her guilt and allowing others to dictate the course her life takes. She is free of the restrictions set on her by her parents and she is moving on. She will always carry the guilt of her fiancé’s death with her but she is ready to live.
Set to move in with her best friend, Sierra, and her boyfriend, Evan, in Boston, Callie is ready to live but not love. She wants to be a normal 20 something. She wants to go to college. She wants to be free of her parents. She does not want love. She wants to avoid it if at all possible.
Malcom Davis is there to help move his friend’s girlfriend’s friend from her small town in Pennsylvania to Boston. He is not looking for love but he HAS to see what this chick looks like. Sierra has been talking her up non-stop. There is no way she can live up to what Sierra has described.

Mac and Callie each have their own issues to work through separately before they can think of being together. What happens when being together is all they can think about? Mac doesn’t do relationships and Callie isn’t looking for love. They say love happens when you least expect it.

Can Callie move past the ghosts in her past? Can Mac live with the knowledge of these ghosts? Can Callie live with Mac's playboy past? Callie and Mac are perfect for each other but someone from Mac’s past isn't going to go away without a fight.

This was an AMAZING debut book! I absolutely loved the characters and the story line. Callie is a strong woman and Mac isn’t going to give up easily. I HIGHLY recommend this book and cannot wait for book 2!!

Review can also be found in Chill and read

“Finding a way” is the writing debut of T.E. Black, quite promising on the prose, yet you need to like this kind of heroes; the alha-male and the sweet but strong woman. Oh, and don’t mind the language either!

Callie is retrieving from a very stressful emotional time in her life. She lost her fiance in a car accident, that got get scratches and depression and put her life on hold until feeling ready to live again. When she does, she moves to Chicago to study in the University, leaving with her best friend and her boyfriend.

The boyfriend comes with a best buddy, Mac, who is the total man whore, selecting this way of living after some painful situation in his life too. He was brought up in foster families, until he found his own. He loved a woman that meant the world to him and he lost her in an ugly way. He’s rough around the edges, yet kind and loving. Pretty much, those two are messed up, falling in love, which makes a good story-line.

She does not believe she deserves to fall in love again, only three years after her fiance’s death. This is melancholy talking to her brain, as it does to many people. Many people are struggling with depression, that makes them feel unworthy of love and happiness, and it only takes a really strong feeling and another person to drag them back to the light. To get a second chance.

The story is well written and easy read, which comes to leave the reader in a good mood, ready for the second story in line.

As a reader, and as a blogger obviously, not only finding a new author and trying them out can be an exciting thing. I love finding new favorites, I sort of like my four year old daughter saying “this is my new favorite!” There is the risk that the book will not work for you or you just don’t mesh with the author’s style of writing. Luckily, for me, I think I have found a new favorite author in T.E. Black and in a new book with Finding A Way.

I love reading dual POV’s. I think it helps us readers get a much fuller picture of what the author is trying to portray with their words. Ms. Black did a wonderful job of having the emotions her characters were feeling come across in her words. I cried more than once because of the emotions I felt, I smiled and at times I may or may not cussed out loud. Okay this is me we are talking about, I did cuss out loud more than once. This one really sucks you in and you can’t help but feel what the author wants you to feel.

I am really looking forward to the next book in this series, because if it is at the same level as Finding A Way is, then we are in for another amazing read. This right here is why I love finding new authors because when you do, especially when they are just starting out, feels like you are on the journey with them.

T.E. Black’s debut novel is fantastic! Callie and Mac’s story is sweet, sexy, and emotional. Callie is a survivor, starting out fresh in a new city. She refuses to be another notch on her new friend’s bedpost, no matter how tempting he is. Mac is a player. He doesn’t do repeats, and he’s definitely not into relationships. But he can’t get the new girl in town out of his head. Theirs is a story of two broken souls with tragic pasts learning to let love in.

I was very impressed with the author’s writing, especially her character development. Through dual POVs and flashbacks, they came to life. You feel the strong connection between Callie and Mac. Some of Mac’s choices aren’t admirable, but he’s written so well you forgive him because you feel what’s in his heart. He’s a tough alpha yet is sweet and tender. Callie is a firecracker! Though she is small, the girl can be fierce. Her spirit is balanced with a vulnerability that showcases the strength of her character. These characters paired with a storyline that kept me turning the page made this a great read!

Finding A Way is the first book in the Unexpected Love series. It’s an excellent debut, and I’m looking forward to seeing what T.E. Black has in store as the series continues.

Originally I signed up to review this book because one of my fellow author friends asked me to do this for her friend. I read the synopsis as I signed up and was admittedly intrigued by what it said. My interest was peaked. Could this first time author blow me away with an amazing story? I am very happy to tell you T.E. Black did just that.

Black gives us the story of Callie Rose and Malcolm Davis. Two beautifully broken individuals who have faced different heartaches in life however struggling just the same to be free of their tormented pasts. Each facing their fears and breaking down the walls they’ve built to survive, Callie and Malcolm fall in love. Although their love is fierce, passionate, sometimes brutal it is love in it’s purest form.

I’m so glad that I was introduced to this author. She has written an exceptional book with wonderful characters, a great storyline and endless possibilities for the future of this series. Callie and Malcolm’s story was sweet when it needed to be and hot when it was called for as well. Black managed to capture the best and worst of both characters, their emotions, and their struggles breaking up the heavy moments with heartwarming, light hearted moments. All in all, this book was a really great story and I will definitely be a returning reader to this series.
