To avoid being left for dead in an icy wasteland, Astrid surrenders herself to the local werewolf pack and its alpha, who is as tantalizing as he is terrifying.
In a time when shifters are facing extinction, Erik is alpha to the largest wolf pack in the arctic. As harsh and unforgiving as the tundra, he is accustomed to wielding control over everything. Astrid is no exception.
This is the first part of an ongoing story. It is not a sweet romance. It contains sexual themes that may be upsetting to some readers.
DEVILISHLY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Enslaved by the Alpha: Part One Series: Shifters of Nunavut Designation: Part One of an Multi-Installment Serial, Not a Standalone, Does Include Cliffhanger Author: Viola Rivard Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: FIVE SUPER SEXY STARS***** Yowza! New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Viola Rivard has knocked it out of the park - again. Enslaved by the Alpha is the first release of the new multi-installment serial in her captivating new series, Shifters of Nunavut and folks, it's a real firecracker! The story is exciting, edgy, thrilling, imaginative, arousing, romantic and seductive. Oh, and did I mention hot? Oh yes, it's definitely hot! The narrative is exceptionally well written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view. The dialogue is well executed and flows effortlessly. And the characters... well, they're always the best part of Viola's stories. Don't get me wrong, Viola's books are always fast paced, well crafted, well developed and well edited and truly, a pleasure to read but it's her characters that I fall in love with every single time. Her characters are always unique, captivating, engaging and endearing but she creates, hands down, the best, grumpy, growly, quite possibly irredeemable and certainly the most arrogant male antiheroes of anyone I know. You know, the kind we love to hate but secretly love.and of course, are always devilishly handsome.(Swoon....) And the male protagonist in this story is no exception. Viola skillfully combines all of these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining paranormal tale filled to the brim with heart-pounding danger, heartbreaking drama, heart-stopping action, spine-tingling adventure and let's not forget, steamy, dreamy romance. When I read a Viola Rivard story, I'm always reminded of the Carly Simon song, Nobody Does It Better. The words replay in my mind: Nobody does it better, Makes me feel sad for the rest, Nobody does it half as good as you, Baby you're the best. And Viola definitely is the best! Buckle up my lovelies! It's another wild ride! And this time, we travel to the tundra of the Arctic for our story.
Twenty-eight year old Astrid Castello is very much out of her element. As a native Floridian, the climate of the Arctic tundra definitely does not agree with her and it's all her younger sister Ginnifer's fault. Months ago, her sister traveled to the Arctic to film a documentary on the way of life of werewolf packs living in the area and after finishing her film, she returned to the Siluit Pack and Zane, their alpha, is holding her prisoner. If her sister isn't already dead and Astrid can somehow manage to rescue her, then she's going to kill her for this. She doesn't even really like her sister but here she is, neck deep in trouble in the Arctic, trying to rescue her sister for her parents' sake. Yes, it's for them because she doesn't want to tell them that their favored daughter has traveled back to Nunuvat to live with the Siluit werewolf pack. And it has cost her everything including all her money! Well, technically the twelve thousand dollars she paid for her guides was actually Ginnifer's money since she withdrew(stole) it from Ginnifer's bank account but she wouldn't have had to do it if Ginnifer had stayed at home instead of traipsing all over the globe as a freelance documentary filmmaker. And now, she finds herself in the middle of nowhere with a group of men who started out as her very kind guides but had now turned into a group of opportunists who were only interested in poaching the furs of werewolves and probably murdering her. Her plan was to travel to the location of the Amarok Pack and try to make a deal with their Alpha, Erik, to enlist his help in recovering her sister from the rival Siluit Pack where her sister is being held. Unfortunately, her meeting with the Amarok Pack did not go as planned. She has seriously underestimated the sheer and savagery of the werewolves because the wolves of the Amarok pack have just slaughtered all of her very questionable guides, leaving only her alive. Oh my! Erik is a handsome, arrogant, ruthless and very selfish wolf who is determined to have things his way and unfortunately, there's only one deal the Alpha is willing to accept - her. Huh? Oh yes, Erik demands that she give herself willingly to him in exchange for him helping to rescue her sister. Oh my goodness! What's a girl to do? Why, make a deal, of course! Sadly, Astrid soon realizes that she has truly sacrificed everything to rescue her sister from the clutches of a demon and in the process, has ended up selling her own soul to the devil. Oh my! Will Astrid somehow manage to save her sister and herself or will she be Erik's new plaything until he grows tired of her and gives her to another wolf??? No spoilers from me but I will say this......Arrogant, ruthless, dominant Alpha wolf who takes what he wants regardless of the consequences and may just be irredeemable-check! Curvaceous, naive heroine who is on a mission to save her sister and may just talk the alpha wolf to death-check! A sister who is 'supposedly' being held captive by a rival werewolf pack-check! A cast of wonderful characters-check! Danger, drama, action, adventure and enemies galore-check! Unconventional romance and steamy sex-check! That and a whole lot more! I can hardly wait for Book Two! Seriously sexy, completely captivating and delightfully entertaining!
First of all the cover is amazing, it's very catchy right from the start. Then as you start reading, it doesn't take long until you're inside the authors imagination. Astrid is the main character, her sister Ginnifer captures Wolf Shifters by making documentaries. She stays with a pack for awhile learning what they like, as peace offerings an what they are offended by. The Alpha lets her leave, but she decides to go back , and this time she's gone. That's when Astrid comes in,even though she has had a secret hatred envy type issues with her sister she knows her parents will never forgive her for looking out. So she gets a group of men to help her find the icy cold tundra . Although she doesn't feel comfortable at all she knows this is the only way. When the men start talking about selling different parts of the wolf she knows they have a different agenda at hand. All she wanted to do was get in touch with the other pact because the 2are fighting and she thinks this may help to get her sister back. She didn't realize the price that it would come with. Selling yourself to the devil. Erik has no care for humans he's pure alpha through an through. After killing everyone in her camp shes stuck to die, only after a deal is made to get her sister back did she realize what exactly that meant.but her other choice would be to freeze to death . What happens when your stuck with wolves all looking at you as either dinner or for sex? Especially when the alpha Erik seems he could care less, although his inner wolf has other plans for the fragile human Astrid...this is the first book in the series, and I'm already in love with the characters. The author does a Fantastic job at the details with each, and I absolutely loved the plot even as it thickens! There is a cliffhanger at the end one that is like Omg Not Now!! Any Alpha lover will want to buy this before reading the others . I was given this arc in return of an honest review
I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST REVIEW ... OVER 18 READERS.. THIS STORY KEEPS YOU WONDERING WHAT WILL BE NEXT. I COMPLETY ENJOY THIS STORY Astrid has hired 6 guide/guards to take her to Nunavut, she gave one the map her sister made on a regular map outlining all 42 shifter territories, including the type of shifter everything from wolves, to bears, to lynx and name of each pack and some even had the alpha of the pack. It was invaluable. Her sister Ginnifer had spent a year making a documentary, now she has been taken captive by the Siluit pack, blood rivals to the Amarok pack, the most feared in the area, that is why she was going to them to ask for help getting her sister back. She also has her sister's Husky Noona with her. She just might not be as safe with her guards as she first thought. When the werewolf pack shows up, she is woken by gun fire, growls and yelling. A huge white wolf lunged for her ready to bite but Noona, only half the size barreled into it. The wolves killed all the men, she later found out it was because they brought guns onto the land, and she didn't so she wasn't harmed. She had gifts for their help, but Erik would not do it for that,he wanted something else. Would Astrid make the life changing trade? It wasn't till they got back to their den before anyone ask her name, she was put in a room and Sabine,a she wolf was told to see that she ate. When she woke Noona and a brown wolf were playing with a bone, she said "at least one of us is making friends." But a little later the brown wolf was gone and a little girl about 7 or 8 was there,Halley, she turns out to belong to Erik's big brother Sten. Sten and Erik are completely different, Sten a calmer wolf and Erik wants others to fear him.Erik fights with his wolf, it thinks Astrid is it's mate and he can't stop it? While she is finding her place in the pack but wondering why he keeps her when he doesn't care how she feels. Will he be able to learn to listen to his wolf and care for her? Will he decide to keep his word and give her to his brother, not what his wolf wants? Will she get her sister back or find out that she is there by her own choice? Remember the alpha Zane is unmated and that pack has no pups.
Erik is the ultimate alphahole. He's raw, rough and brutal. He's calculating and menacing, and seemingly without a conscience. There's no compassion in him and none of the gentler feelings you often see in an alpha male with a hidden softer side he only shows to his love. He is everything you do not want in a boyfriend, partner, husband or mate, but dang, if he is not sexy as hell. I thoroughly enjoyed Erik because with this installment, I got a lot of insight into his character. Erik bring such a brute is surprisingly introspective and self-aware. He has made conscious decisions to be who he is and he makes no apologies for it. I like that in a man and I adore Erik.
Astrid was difficult to put my finger on because this part focused so heavily on Erik. The little I glimpsed of her showed me she's rather unselfish, somewhat naive, probably foolish with a mix of brave thrown in. From what I do know, I like her. She's handling herself well given she's been thrown into a rather difficult situation, though much of it of her own making.
I'm enjoying this new release from Ms Rivard and look forward to more of it as the story unfolds.
Note: This is the first part of a serial series. I do not know how many parts this serial will have. This is also available on Kindle Unlimited if you don't want to buy it.
Enslaved by the Alpha: Part 1 By Viola Rivard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was given a ARC to read and give a honest opinion in my review I am a long standing FAN of Viola Rivard she is a very gifted and awesome author. I must tell you I have never met a shifter I didn't love and Erik is one of my favorite. The storyline is always engaging and her scene description is fascinating and full of life. The characters are mind-blowing sexy, lovable and you feel as if you are one. I'm excited to read part two.
This storyline is about Erik who is Alpha and he is attracted to a human Astrid. Erik took Astrid after killing the men who had agreed to help Astrid find the pack of were wolves who could help her find her sister. Astrid could hardly believe she hired men to help find her sister as she wasn't that fond of her sister. Now she finds herself a prisoner but not prisoner of the Alpha. She can't believe this georgous man could want her with her curveous body but he does.
I only have one warning when you read the book is if you don't like cliffhangers this is not the series for you. But I must tell you this is a Fantastic book to read! I highly recommend This Book!!
I'm was lucky enough to be on the ARC team for this release but because I'm in the UK and the author in America I didn't get my copy until about 11.30pm.
And because it was fairly late I decided just to read the first chapter; somehow this just didn't work and I forgot to stop reading. Did i mention it was a Sunday night?
Anywho I devoured Enslaved by the Alpha, which I found reminiscent of Viola's Claimed by the Alpha's series, only better and I totally loved it!
The writing was better, the story familiar yet original and the characters interesting!
The story is about Astrid, who's on a mission to save her sister, not for herself, she doesn't much like her, but for her family which I thought made her incredibly brave especially knowing the situation she would be putting herself in to do so. I'm already rooting for her HEA.
The alpha, Erik, is the quintessential antihero; he's brash, domineering and just a little unhinged but he's the kind of character you just know is gonna be worth the effort.
I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review. So different from what I am used too. I really enjoyed the story and now can't wait for the next installment. I found Astrid to be a little naive and a dreamer. She hopes that by I rescuing her sister she will be a hero in the eyes of others. Instead she is captured and thrust into to world of self discovery. Erik is the strong silent type, no one questions what he does if they want to live. He is used to doing things his way and what he says goes. He has learned to suppress his wolf so he doesn't listen to him. When Astrid comes into his life it seems that not only does he find himself being questioned by her but it seems his wolf wants to heard as well. Astrid can't seem to decide if she wants to stay with Erik to help find her sister or if she stays because of the way he makes her feel. Erik seems conflicted with his feelings for dominance with Astrid and showing emotions that would make others think him weak. Two people looking to avoid the inevitable. Can't wait to see where this is going.
A very different and intriguing story! I received an ARC copy of this book for my review and I was a little nervous about this book. Viola warned that it was a dark book and not to expect an alpha that deep down has a heart of gold. I really like the happily ever afters and all but I was really intrigued and have been a fan of Viola's so I really wanted to check out what she created here. Well I gotta say, she's got my attention with this book! I really like reading things that are unique and break away from a cookie cutter story and I've not read anything quite like this. I love that Viola always seems to have a fresh perspective! This book is really intense and it definitely has my interest. I highly recommend this book for an interesting read and I can't wait to see what happens in part 2...I've really got a thing for his brother Sten but that would be far too happily ever after I think...lol. Incredible story!
Astrid wanted to save her sister and now has to save herself. With no one to turn to, she has to stay with Erik and his wolves and hope he will help her rescue her sister. Her time with them is intense. Erik is not a kind, sensitive man. He is the Alpha of the wolf clan and used to getting what he wants from any female. When others inquire about her being his mate, he is clear to say no and has some other plans for her. His niece and brother make Astrid much more comfortable.
I really enjoyed this first part and look forward to part two. Erik is an interesting character and I look forward to seeing how his interactions with Astrid change him. Astrid doesn't have much experience with men and she has no idea about how to handle someone like Erik. She is intensely attracted to him but her heart is not involved. She is trying so hard to be strong. You can tell that a relationship between the two will not be easy.
Astrid is trying to find her missing sister all the way in the tundra of Canada! Astrid is a long way from the sunny warm beaches of Miami. Trying to find out what happened to her naturalist sister she sets the stage for an adventure of her own. With her sisters trusted dog Noona, they set out with a hired group of nefarious men. One night shots ring out and by the time Astrid blinks all the human men are dead. Left alone all she has is Erik and the other wolves. WOW!!!! Eye popping, jaw dropping! Dark, dangerous Oh so hot Erik! This is an Alpha that is misunderstood. Erik despises humans at least he thinks he does. Astrid makes a deal with the devil…Erik. He will help find her sister and she will submit to him! Viola is dabbling in a most interesting arena, Dominance? Master and Slave? Raw passion and heat! I have enjoyed many series of Viola, this I believe is going to be the BEST EVER!
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Enslaved by the Alpha is about Astrid who goes out to the tundra in deep Canada looking for her sister. Her sister is being help captive by a werewolf pack. Astrid runs into some complications and makes a deal with a pack that's rivals with the pack that has her sister. Astrid is at Erik's, the Alpha leader, mercy. He is in no way friendly. I actually liked how Viola called humans out on their cruelty. Erik keeps his human self in control over his wolf self. This is because he says his human side has a cruelty that the wolf does not possess. Wolves are fierce, but not without empathy. Humans are and will be the most cruel species of animal. This is not a knight in shining armor type of story, but I didn't find it to be like BDSM or anything. It was very appealing and worth the read. It's short, and can be read in a day. Enjoy!
If this wasn't printed on paper, it'd be setting things aflame with the content in here. *fans herself*
I loved this! It was short, but it still had enough detail to give it depth. I fell instantly in love with the way it was written, and the flow made me forget that I was reading something. Astrid was nice and ballsy for following through with her rescue plan, but she was a little annoying with the defense she kept sprouting without thinking.
I love Erik. He's hot, and he's different. He's supposedly a psychopath, so his human part has a lot of diabolical thoughts while his wolf side is all about the feeling. Very interesting. And freaking hot tbh. (WARNING: hot scenes! lol) I love his POV because his mind is very clean cut and intriguing. The things he thinks about is very refreshing.
Having finished reading 'Enslaved by the Alpha' part 1 of Viola's new serial, I was quickly entranced by this dark morsal. Keep in mind, that this is only the first part & waiting will be involved before we can read the next parts (I can be patient, I can be patient (chanting to myself)). WOW I loved this, it's darker than I've previously read from Viola, but it works, the characters, storyline, action & steamy scenes. The prologue at the start gave you a little hint into the character that is Alpha Erik, but it doesn't even come close to what he is, I'm sure there's a reason for that. Then within you met Astrid & find out the reason of her journey to the coldest regions on Earth. LOVE love LOVED it all, I can't wait to read the next part.
Received the book for an honest review. Viola does it again! Enslaved by the Alpha is a great beginning to a new series. Astrid travels to Nunavut (Northern Canada) in search of her sister Ginnger who has gone missing. After a wolf pack attacks her campsite and kills the people she was travelling with, Astrid is at the mercy of the pack's alpha, Erik. He both terrifies and excites her at the same time. Astrid asks Erik is he could help her get back her sister from a rival wolf pack. Erik agrees to help her as long as she goes with him and does everything he wants and desires. What has she gotten herself into????? Can't wait for the next book I the series to se what happens to Astrid and Erik!!
Wow! Viola Rivard is a fantastic author, and this one may be one of my favorites! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book so much, especially considering the title. I'm not a fan of dubious/lack of consent books, but luckily this one didn't fit that category in my opinion. I'm really intrigued by Astrid (also, I love that name - and it always makes me think of Doctor Who) and her reason for her trek to rescue her sister. Despite what everyone says about Erik, I like him too. I expect my feelings to switch between love and hate in the future, but for now I like him. I'm really excited about reading the rest of the series. I have a feeling it's going to be an emotionally rough ride!
I received a copy of Enslaved by the Alpha in exchange for an honest review.
Enslaved part 1 ARC review given in exchange for an honest review so what do you do when your sister is with a pack and is or so she thinks kidnapped . what is a sister to do go save her or let her fend for herself . so she uses her sisters money to have some people help her to get to where she was last known at but with the help of another pack as well . but what happens and what could happen are two diffent things . and what do you do when your wolf part wants someone but you want to deny it ,. and what if you are drawn to shifter how do you keep yourself without losing yourself find out in part two next week .
This is not your typical shifter love story and is not for the faint of heart. This is a serial with cliffhangers so beware!!! I didn't really know what to thwear no when I first started reading this book because I'm use to this authors others stories when at least one H is a little softer and more romantic. The Alpha, Erik, in this story will have you loving and hating him all at the same time. The h, Astrid, will have to continue to be strong if she is to survive not only Erik, but also the pack and her circumstances. I can't wait to read the next part.
I received a copy of this book for a honest review....
I like books from Viola and Enslaved (part 1) although compared to her others is edgier, little more direct, peace is the same. Astrid is on a mission to save her sister. She paid some men to take her to the rival pack from the pack which has her sister. She want to exchange some goodies for getting help from alpha wolf Eric....But here it begin the interesting part...Men she paid were having some other motives besides helping her, so Eric pack killed them all. Astrid and her dog were left alive....I like the edge Viola put in this book, things become interesting, when she was scared but still hold her ground for bargaining. I am really eager to see what will happen in the second part.
Astrid is looking to save her sister from a neighboring werewolf pack that she was staying with to do a documentary on. She went to Alaska to ask for help with a group of guides, but Erik’s pack killed the men to protect his pack. Erik is completely alpha. I thought the characters were similar to that of the Claimed by the Alpha series which was awesome. I can’t wait to read the next installment and watch Astrid and Erik’s story unfold.
Saver now needs saving herself Sometimes we do things for love but it’s not always for the person we try and save but for the ones who love them. In this case Astrid goes into Were territory to try and save her sister, but not because of the sister but for her parent sake. But things don’t go as planned and she herself becomes enslaved. Exciting installment to a brand new series that is well written and very entertaining to read.
I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.
A great start for a new series by Viola.
Fast paced and filled with action this book takes you to places that you haven't been before. Sometimes bordering to more violence than we are used to it is wise to read the blurb cause if you have strong feelings against some situations then this might trigger you.
I found the characters really intresting and the book really well written.
A story of survival. Astried thought she had it all planned out. It wasn't until she awoke from screams, gunfires and a pair of werewolf fangs in her face that she was dead wrong. What will this pack do to her now that she was at their mercy. Erik is the alpha of the pack. He halts the pack from taking the woman's life because she didn't have a gun. He wants to leave her but his beast had other ideas. He throws her a deal.... Will she take it or will she leave?
Enslaved by the Alpha does not start out like Viola's other wolf series's. Erik is not sweet, or simply brooding. He is a hard alpha, with no room for or want of a mate. He does however like Astrid's body, and wants to use it. So they make a deal, yet she really has no choice. Will he stand by his deal? Will Astrid survive life on the Tundra?
Viola's writing is always smooth, but this story is starting out pretty dark.
I always like Viola's stories. They are usually keep you interested till the very end.
The only negative issue I have is the shortness of every book. £1 for 50 pages ( or less ), is not value for money. So I usually hesitate to purchase her new books or if I do purchase the first book, I never purchase the others in the series. Because her books tend to be predictable I can guess outcome of the series.
This story is different from what I'm used to reading from this author, but I like the different from her.
There were some twists and turns that I didn't see comming. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Will Erik help Astrid save her sister? Will Erik accept that she is his mate? Will Astrid try to leave? Will Erik accept the outcome or fight it, can't wait to find out.
This story is definitely not for the faint of heart.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Astrid is in werewolf territory looking for help from one pack to rescue her sister from a rival pack. When the former leaves her guides dead she agrees to belong to the Alpha in exchange for him rescuing her sister and not leaving her in the tundra to die. Both Erik and his wolf want Astrid they disagree on how long that feeling will last.
Though I did enjoy this one, I did not immediately love the characters as I did in the Dragon's Appraiser.
this story is different from what I was expecting. There was some twist and turns that I didn't see comming. I can't wait to see what happens next. Will they save her sister? Will they realize that they are mates? Will she try to leave? Will he accept the outcome or fight it?
I received this free copy from the Author for an honest review.
What a great start for this series I found it to really entertaining. In this book we're introduced to Astrid who on a mission to find her sister Ginnifer who was kidnapped. Instead of finding her sister captors she find herself in a mess of trouble of her own. I don't want to give it all away but I'm really interesting on how everything going to turn out can't wait for book 2.
