Au lit, petit monstre !

Rate this book

This is a cute little story about a "monster" who tries to avoid going to bed. Always something getting in the way, kissing mom goodnight, using the restroom, picking out a long book, jumping on the bed exclaiming he is thirsty, asking to kiss mom again. Then finally giving into sleep. One could use this book with kids to talk about sequence of events or ways that the "monster" tries to avoid sleeping (problem/solution).

This is a cute story about bedtime. Children and parents will both recognize all the tricks used to delay bedtime a little bit. Two parts of this story struck me as particularly notable.
One, the bedtime story the father reads is Where the Wild Things Are - another story about a little monster boy.
And two, the line "Well? How's that poo-poo coming along?" almost made me laugh out loud! Sadly enough, between my own child and the daycare kids, I have asked versions of that question way too many times!

My Spanish is fairly poor - if I actually read both the Spanish and English, this book could probably help me pick up a few words.

I got this book out of a free box so I could give it away via BookMooch. I did give it away, pretty fast too.

This book was in English and Spanish. That made it vaguely interesting. Otherwise, it was kind of boring.

Why does the human dad have a reptilian child? I haven't been so confused since meeting Stuart Little.

I can recognize the point that the author was attempting to make with this story but I felt the tone was a bit harsh and the illustrations made the parent seem too angry. I would have trouble recommending this book. I have elected not to rate the book as a result.

Fun little book about the daily routine of putting your kid to bed - the drawings are a bit too simple but the text is truly hilarious - based on real life experience for sure! in French.
