Kat Harper has been looking forward to the Furry Friends Foster Families benefit dinner for weeks, never guessing it would come to a screeching halt when one of the guests ends up poisoned. Now the question she must answer is who would have wanted to murder Heidi Smith? Kat has a few suspects in mind, but before long her cats Matty and Tom are making her question everything about the case.
Paige Sleuth is a pseudonym for mystery author Marla Bradeen. She plots murder during the day and fights for mattress space with her two rescue cats at night. When not attending to her cats' demands, she writes.
Kat Harper is helping with a dinner to benefit the 4f charity. She's going to attend with her best friend and possible flame Detective Andrew Milhone. Everythings going fine until one of the guests drops dead during the meal.
Pro's: A fun story with developed characters and lots of cats and dogs.
Con's: DETAILS!!! Kat has a really good observation in the next to the last chapter. She leaves her apartment and walks into his office at the police station to tell Andrew about it. Really??? He's surprised to see her because there was no one at the reception desk, and no one to stop her from going through what is probably a locked door to get back to the crew area of the police station, and no one called his desk to let him know she was there to see him? Almost to the end of the story and this happens. It completely pulled me out of the story.
I read this as part of the 1-3 Box Set. These are short stories and as such are limited in depth and character development. The stories were ok, though I’m a bit tired of these untrained ‘super sleuths’ getting upset when the police tell them to leave the investigation to the police.
Poisoned in Cherry Hills--3 stars: Enough suspects to keep Kat jumping from one to the other, never suspecting the real culprit (of course, I didn’t either). And not really figuring it out either, but still having her life endangered when the murderer confronts her.
Poisoned in Cherry Hills (Cozy Cat Caper Mystery Book 3) — Paige Sleuth (13 chapters) October 31, 2024
Kat Harper and her lovely (maybe, sort of) boyfriend are invited to the 4F benefit dinner, unbeknownst that a rivalry will become deadly before the party starts. But all is not as it seems. There are plenty of suspects and s few unknowns. It will take everything Kat has to figure out whodunit and why before it haunts her that perhaps she was the intended target all along.
This is the 3rd in the series. The main character is Kat. She works for the 4F which takes care of animals until they can find them homes. Kat goes to a benefit with the animals and there is a murder right there. Kat has been told not to not to get involved but she just can't seem to do it. Can she figure out who did it before that person kills her?
The 4F, or Furry Friends Foster Family, is having a benefit dinner. What could possibly go wrong? Well, if you read the title, you know that someone got poisoned. The why and how are a little more complicated. Thank goodness for Andrew. I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Great mystery! Had me guessing all the way to the reveal. If course, I kinda got the suspect wrong until Kat came up with the idea the killer was after the officer. Really entertaining and a great short read. I'm enjoying this series immensely!
I bought a 'boxed' set of 3 of Ms. Sleuth's cozy mysteries for the e reader. Should have stopped reading with the 1st book but...being an optimist at heart...I kept hoping things would improve. They didn't. I will go no further in the series!!
An engaging cozy murder mystery. Kat is at a fundraising dinner when a guest is murdered. I liked the characters, including the four legged ones. This was a short novel, but fun to read.
3.5 stars. Digital book. Although Kat acted weird around people she suspected she didn’t actually accuse anyone in this book and I’m so proud of her! She also didn’t inherit a cat which is mildly disappointing but she and Andrew finally kissed so we might be at our cat limit now.

Missing some linkages in the story this time, and I was not happy that Champ just got dumped at the end with no resolution. We don’t even know where he went to foster :( that was super traumatic for him. Poor pupper.

I rated this book three stars but to me it was only two and a half. It lacked character development. The plot was better than in the first two books in the series but not very original.
Far better than the first two in the series. The plot was more fleshed put, clues were offered. The characters have settled in and become more whole. Definitely a good plot in this one.
I gave it four stars it was a short story but we'll written plus it talked about animals and I'm a pet owner my self would recommend it to friends to read
Poisoned in Cherry Hills kept my interest, especially with the dog and cats involved. I especially liked the aspect of finding forever homes for the cuties. The book is short and easy to read but definitely worth reading.
