To err is human, to forgive is against his policy.

Bailey Harris is eager to move up at Huxworth Packard. Her mentor advises her to network more after hours. But that means she’ll have to reveal the reason she rushes out of the office at five o’clock on the dot—and it’s not for happy hour Cosmos.

On the other hand, more office time means more opportunities to feast her eyes on the firm’s executive creative director, the gorgeous, brilliant Mason Ward.

Mason sure has noticed the sweet, sexy media girl, but with a past that left his heart an echo chamber, his focus is on work. The occasional itch he scratches with meaningless, emotionless hook-ups. Though he’s determined to keep his hands off Bailey, he can’t resist when she makes it very clear she wants his hands on.

They’re on the same sexy page about their relationship—Bailey doesn’t have the time, and Mason doesn’t have the heart. But when meaningless sex suddenly becomes very meaningful, they find themselves in dangerous emotional waters.

Warning: This book contains a girl with a mad crush, a mad man with a mysterious past, secrets, lies, and shoes.

4 look at me like that and you might end up on your back on this table giving everyone else here a show they didn't expect stars. I remember Mason from Limited Time Offer, the first book in this series, and was thrilled to see he got his own story. Mason and Bailey were doomed from the start because there was no such thing as just sex for them. I really don't remember Bailey from the first book but I'm glad to really see her in full form in this one.

description

Bailey is wise beyond her years because she's had to grow up fast with taking in her younger sister and becoming a parent. She works hard at the agency and always races out of the office in order to pick her sister up and be there for her. Bailey is private, mature, sweet, compassionate, bright and just lovely. I found I really liked her and liked her even more when she was near or with Mason.

Mason is the grounded upper level executive from the first book that is attractive, charming, and just a bit standoffish. Mason plays a part while at work, he's good at what he does, but has a loneliness inside of him that Bailey can recognize. When Mason's story comes to light my heart broke for him. He's such a good man and just needed the right woman to show him that he deserved more than the hollow feeling he drowned in once work hours ended.

They say to keep work and play separate, but life is not always that simple. Look at Sloane and Levi from the first book, they work together and are in love. Sometimes you have to be willing to take the leap of faith in order to be happy which is where Mason and Bailey find themselves for the last half of the novel. They struggle to come to terms with what they thought they wanted, the feelings they have, and dealing with moving forward. Kelly Jamieson is an incredibly talented writer who easily manipulates the scheme of her fake world to hold you captive.

Positive Market Positioning

I always love it when I learn something while reading a romance book. In this case, I learned about advertising craft beers and that Millennials don't drink their parents' light beer. Fluffy stuff, to be sure, but this book doesn't claim to be anything else. In fact, I was rolling along, enjoying the fact that 36-year-old Mason was falling in love with 25-year-old media buyer Bailey. The age jokes were funny even though Bailey has had a lot of responsibility in her quarter century of living. The shoes were fabulous. And Chicago and football go together like bread and butter. Then, 87% of the way into the book, Mason's very private life is revealed.

"I'm as confused as a goat on Astroturf." -- Mason Ward

There had been hints of something off, but they were few and far between. In fact, I was all geared up to believe most tension in the story was going to come from Bailey's side of the relationship. For a brief time, I was in the middle of a drama I wasn't really sure I liked. But since everyone knows goats will eat anything, including Astroturf, I read on until all was happily resolved.

I suppose this ending, and how it evolved due to deficiencies in Mason's and Bailey's relationship is why this book is getting 3.5 stars. The characters' handling of the BIG DRAMA in their lives didn't seem particularly reasonable. They had looks, charm, good friends, a strong moral compass and intelligence. So Mason's history of one-night stands and Bailey hiding the most significant thing in her life from her co-workers just didn't strike me as genuine. Because they wouldn't speak about personal lives, the relationship between Bailey and Mason seemed based mainly on work, sex and surface conversation.

There were also a handful of loose ends that didn't feel sufficiently tied up to me, too. A few scenes were headed in a certain direction, and then not really mentioned again. I wanted better closure.

On the other hand, Kelly Jamieson always writes clearly, efficiently, with good description, humor and emotion. Her writing style is easy and breezy. Her main characters interact with a wide range of secondary characters. I see them effortlessly in my mind's eye. Jamieson is a master at succinctly revealing her characters' motivations. I'll read a sentence or two, and think, "Exactly."

"She never let herself feel pity for more than a few minutes because if she let that in, it would darken her whole life and drag her down."

I like that her characters seem to have a handle on their own quirks. At times, they are a mess, but they own it and eventually they go pick up a broom.

In this second story in the Brew Crew series (both standalone), Mason and Bailey have both experienced some personal issues in their pasts and have kept them under wraps. While Mason prefers to deal with his by engaging in commitment free sex, Bailey has the care of her younger sister and works hard to keep her home and work life balanced, with no time for dating. Mason is the creative director of the advertising company Bailey works for (she isn’t under him directly) and is 11 years older than her, but Bailey’s quick trip to adulthood has made her a very mature 25 year old and it shows. Truth be told, they’ve both caught each other’s eye at work and a sexy affair ensues. Firm in their stance that it’s a sex only fling, what starts out easy becomes more difficult as Bailey finds herself falling for Mason, while he struggles with his own feelings. Can Mason and Bailey find their way to a happy ever after?

I loved this story! Bailey was such a wonderful character, a warm and friendly woman and the parent figure for her ten year old sister. She’s smart and funny, and knows that her blonde good looks can make it difficult for people to take her seriously at work. With some good advice from Sloane (heroine of book 1 of the Brew Crew series, Limited Time Offer), she’s dialed back her looks to be more professional and it has shown in the respect that she is getting now, a respect she deserves for the obvious care and attention to detail that she puts into her job. Mason is a bit of an enigma – also a friendly and smart man, but reserved when it comes to details about his past, or his life before moving to Chicago six years earlier. What is known is that he’s an advertising whiz, a man who works hard, and that he’s got no time (or desire) for a serious relationship. While he’s had his eye on Bailey for a while, their business relationship has kept him hands off, at least until she makes it clear that she wouldn’t mind getting down and dirty with him too. The result is a steamy sexy affair (and Ms. Jamieson clearly knows her way around a sex scene)! I loved the two of them together, they were obviously very compatible and the age difference was never really an issue for me, or for them either once they got together. I was glad that it didn’t become a sticking point in the story. When we do eventually find out more about Mason’s background, the story take a serious turn, and I freely admit to a few tears. But it explains well his reservations in pursuing a relationship with Bailey and makes their happy ending all the more meaningful.

The ad agency plays a significant role in the story, giving a peek at the workings of an agency committed to providing the best service for their clients – in this case a craft brewery. I thought this was a very timely storyline as craft breweries are becoming more and more popular. Additionally, Bailey’s knowledge of social media and its use in ad campaigns was spot on. It’s refreshing to read a story that plays to the current market. Though they both work for the same company I appreciated that it wasn’t a ‘forbidden affair’ type story. Yes, they keep things on the down low, but not because it would be a huge scandal if their relationship were revealed – it was more because they were both trying to keep it a sex only thing. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters in the story, Levi and Sloane (from book 1) making several appearances, and also the other guys on the crew. I’m not sure whose story will be told next, but I think there is definite potential for some more interesting and sexy romances here! 4.5 stars for this entertaining and sexy read that combines laughs and a few tears to make a well-rounded story.

He met her eyes, his expression intent and serious. “You’re beautiful, Bailey.”
Her heart expanded, stealing her breath. “Thank you. I think you are too.”
“We need to be clear about something.”
“Yes?”
“This is just sex.” His gaze was steady. “I don’t do relationships. I want you, so fucking bad, but you need to know that. That’s all I’ve got.”
She nodded slowly. “I know that.” She hitched one shoulder. “And that’s perfect, because I sure don’t have time for a relationship.”
His forehead creased briefly, but he nodded. “Then we’re all good.”
And he bent his head and kissed her.

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Right up front I'm going to say that I've been a Kelly Jamieson fan for a long time and while there have been a couple of her books I didn't like as much as others for the most part she never disappoints me. In 2015, I felt like she put out some of her best work to date and that continues in 2016 with No Obligation Required. Ms. Jamieson is one of those author's who can write beautifully flawed characters who sometimes have such a tough exterior it's hard to like them, yet as a reader you see these flashes of more and when you get to the seedy underbelly of them you just want to wrap your arms around them an hug them. Make no mistake though this book despite the warm and happy feelings it left me with is everything I look for in a romance; interesting characters, a bit of conflict, witty dialog and super steamy sexy times.

I always appreciate when an author shows a different side to characters that readers have seen in previous books. Bailey Harris came across as kind of an air-headed looking for a good time party girl in book one until a mentor took her aside and gave her some very sage advice that Bailey took to heart. In this book we see that there is way more to Bailey meets the eye in addition to being beautiful she has a sharp mind and good business sense. She is also very intuitive especially when it comes to the advertising firm's executive creative director, Mason Ward.

While Mason showed he is a caring friend in book one he also is known for being brilliant at his job and somewhat of a womanizer. His colleagues also see him as a loner and know very little about his private life something he has worked hard at keeping separate from his work life until Bailey comes crashing into it.

From the start the sparks between these two were very evident and Mason tried to do the honorable thing and stay clear of Bailey feeling she was way too young for him at 10 years his junior and because for him women are good for sex and that's all he can give and he knows she'll want more. While they both made it clear from the start all they wanted from one another was sex and no strings those lines got blurred the more they saw of each other. I loved how Mason recognized that Bailey was smart and an asset to the firm and that he encouraged her to not be afraid of reaching for more. I appreciated that when Bailey came clean about her life Mason didn't judge and it just made him admire her even more for the strength, dedication and conviction she had in accepting the cards that life had dealt her. Despite her young age of 25, Bailey was way more mature than her years.
Bailey was good at making Mason look at his life and see that taking some time to enjoy it was good for him. In some ways I think Bailey being younger helped Mason reclaim some of the life he'd lost in the last few years. One thing is for sure these two enjoy each other completely and fully and in true Jamieson form the sex scenes are graphic, intense and sexy as well complete with some dirty talking.

The secondary characters in this series add so much life and comic relief to the books and I appreciated the attention to detail about life working in an advertising firm. The high stress, the need to let off steam and yes, the sometimes inappropriateness that comes from too many late nights and not enough rest.

Sometimes I have fear that I have trouble fully expressing how much I loved a book and this is one of those times. These characters and their back stories, their crazy and frantic relationship all set in a high intensity field made No Obligation Required a fun, sexy and entertaining story and author Kelly Jamieson has started off 2016 with a huge bang!

Wow! I've been wondering about Mason's other life, back in California, since book # 1, and it's a doozy! Mason is good at what he does, (Ad Account Executive) and is well-respected by his colleagues. But he only allows them to see his top layer and NO ONE is invited or welcome to dig deeper. Until he acknowledges his attraction to Bailey. However they find out soon enough that "just sex" doesn't work when feelings and the heart are involved. This 5 star amazing story only rates a 4 because the repetitious sex scenes kept interrupting the flow.

No Obligation Required is the second book in the Brew Crew series and I think I enjoyed it even more than the first book Limited Time Offer.

Bailey has been painted with the broad brush strokes of general opinion in the advertising firm as a blonde bimbo who doesn't take her job seriously since she dresses sexily and rushes out the door on time as much as possible rather than putting in a ton of overtime. Her mentor Sloane sees more beneath the surface and gives Bailey some good advice about her appearance and actions even if she isn't privy to the details of her life away from the office. What she doesn't know is that Bailey is singlehandedly raising her little sister so funds are limited for trendy clothing and sitters to allow her to go out socializing all the time. She has had to grow up very fast so a small thing like an 11 year age difference between her and Mason doesn't stop her from fantasizing about the gorgeous ad executive.

Mason has certainly noticed Bailey but he buys into the same assumptions others make about her. Besides, if he tells himself that she is too young and that dipping his pen in the company inkwell is a bad idea often enough, maybe he will actually start to believe it! When he has the opportunity to work with her and realizes she is more intelligent than he gave her credit for, he is already in trouble. Then when she makes it clear that she is interested and totally OK with no strings fun, he is a goner.

I really liked Bailey! She was smart, strong, independent and responsible, but she also had a great sense of humor that came across when the Brew Crew guys tried to prank her. She and Mason certainly heated up the pages, but they both were keeping secrets and fooling themselves when they thought they could keep it casual. When Mason's secret was revealed, my heart broke for him and his aversion to long term relationships was completely understandable. Those who have read the first book will be happy to know Sloane and Levi play a part in the story, and there is an interesting development with other Brew Crew members. Overall I enjoyed No Obligation Required and definitely recommend adding it to your TBR list.

The Executive Creative Director, Mason, and the Media Guru, Bailey are the central characters in this book.

Mason has some deep dark secrets that he has kept buried and Baily has her own secret. There is a spark between the two of them and they get together for a night. The one night of pleasure turns into more, but will their secrets keep them apart.

It was great to watch the angsty way that Mason and Bailey circled each other at times.

I loved seeing Levi and Sloane as part of this series. Sloane is so gracious and she knows how to handle each and every situation. She sees that Bailey is making eyes at Mason and it takes Mason a little while to catch on, but from there, the fires erupts.

Can each of them deal with things when they find out the other is keeping a secret and what secrets do they have?

Another enjoyable read.

I have already read some of Kelly Jamiesons books and I normally like her way of writing - some of her books I liked more and some were ok, but all in all, I like them.

So after reading the plot, I had to try this one and thank god, I was not disappointed.
This was hot and a great read. I loved the characters and their relationship development.
can't wait to read more of the Beer Crew

4,5 stars as the ending could have been a bit more ....

This one is also between 3.5 and 4 for me, and while I originally thought I liked it better than the first book, after a few days of thinking it over I’m not sure anymore. This read was still very spicy and I think the main characters were more likable and had bigger and more realistic issues to get past in order to be together. Also the ad agency setting worked much better in this book and flowed more with the story.

However, I think the book ended up focusing on too many things and never allowed a deep look into anything which led to the story not totally coming together. There are also a couple things that did bother me, specifically. First things first, as great at the steamy scenes were, there was a bit of a disconnect between what the characters preferences were and what was portrayed. Both Mason and Bailey mention they like it rough and it never happened?? Mason slaps Bailey’s ass once and she loved it and then he never did it again. He pulled her hair once and she loved it and then he never did it again. Like what?! I get that things started rougher because “it was just sex” in the beginning and then it became softer and sweeter as they developed feelings, but you still like what you like! Usually as feelings get deeper you are more willing to explore that stuff with your partner. I’m just tired of romance books hinting at the dirty stuff and then going back to vanilla.

Second, as tragic as Mason’s past was, I did not like that it was The Big Problem of the book. It was absolutely a problem and it needed to be dealt with but I think if it was such a problem for him how did he get over it so fast? I would have preferred if maybe there was a problem with Bailey moving up in the company because she was seeing Mason and she’s accused of favoritism or something.

Also, the ending was a little lack luster and left me wanting more. That always seems to happen in these kinds of books, especially if they don’t have an epilogue.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

To me, this book was much better than the first one. In this installment we see more antics of the Brew Crew as well get an insight of who will be the subject of Book 3.

Bailey is hiding something, a pretty big something. She doesn't want everyone to know her personal situation, never liking the pity stares she garnered once someone found out her story. But in order to advance at HuxPac she's going to have to re-evaluate her work ethic. Bailey is very work oriented and wants to advance, but she's raising her 10 year old sister and it makes it hard to work the late hours everyone expects. No one knows that she works from home after hours and she doesn't mention it. The one bright spot in her life is the crush she has on Mason. He barely knows she exists but that's fine with her. A girl can dream right?

Mason has noticed Bailey and for more that just the good job she does with the media accounts. Her ideas are innovative and her knowledge of digitial media is almost unparralleled, but that doesn't mean he hasn't noticed her long blonde hair or her curvy frame. Mason is also hiding something, and he hides it by entertaining a different woman every week. Though, its getting harder and harder not to act on his attraction to Bailey.

Once passion ignites and they both agree its nothing serious, can anything get them to realize that "nothing serious" is in fact the most serious emotion of all -- love.

This is the second in a series, and I would recommend that you read them in order. The story is about a different couple, but to get the vibe of the Brew Crew and some of the background, I would start at the beginning - and it is a really good book!

We know from 'Limited Time Offer' that Mason is not one for relationships, but he has plenty of female company. We also know that Bailey always leaves dead on 5pm, and no-one knows why, but it gives them a non-serious about work feeling about her - so when she says smart things, they are confused. (Irrespective of the reasons, this attitude is one which I absolutely hate, so was delighted that some lessons on that score are learned in the book!). When they get together, it is hot, passionate and intense, and very sexy ... until Bailey (has to) leaves. Some of their lines to each other are absolutely classic, and the whole unexpected fun side of things is something they both have been missing.

As we watch these two dance around each other and their reasons for being averse to a relationship, it becomes clear that something is going to blow. The question is who will be there to pick up the pieces, and how will they get glued back together.

Now, be serious, has Ms Jamieson ever let us down? ... so read and enjoy. I am hoping that book 3 is out soon!

Five stars !!!! The sex is panty melting !!
The Brew Crew is back and Kelly Jamieson comes out swinging with Bailey and Mason. Loved every minute of it except when I got to the end and it was over. I savor every word on every page of Kelly Jamieson's books. No skimming for me. Loved seeing the other characters from book 1.

Mason is a hot and sexy alpha male older than Bailey and her boss but that does not stop him from noticing her. Bailey has adored Mason since her first day at work and when they do finally get together. Boom is it sexy!! Both Bailey and Mason have some secrets and are just looking for some fun until their hearts become engaged. Both have emotional scars but together they can overcome it with love. When the story of Mason's secret came out I wanted to just reach into the book and hold him. Very touching scenes.

Another winner for Kelly Jamieson!! Take a chance on the Brew Crew.

4.5 Stars!

We met Bailey Harris in the first book since Sloan is her boss at Huxworth Packard. Bailey is wanting to move up in the company even though in the first book she might have come across as a ditz. She doesn’t have much time for networking after hours and it seems that everyone has noticed she’s rushing out at five o’clock but explaining to them why, would reveal more than she is willing to about her personal life.

We also met Mason Ward, the firm’s executive creative director in the first book since he is friends with Sloan & works with her. Mason has noticed the sweet, sexy media girl, but with his past he is focusing on his work and only has meaningless hook-ups.

As much as a work place affair is a bad idea they eventually can’t deny their chemistry. They decide to have “sex only” hook-ups since Bailey doesn’t have the time for anything more and Mason doesn’t have the heart.

The lines get blurred rather quickly and things slowly get revealed about both of their lives prior to their current situations. Bailey is 10 years Mason’s junior but she is more mature for her age due to her family circumstances.

I really enjoyed these two as a couple. There was conflict/angst but it felt as if the drama factor was low if that at all makes sense. It was all handled in a mature manner. The sexy times were just like I like them, plenty and colorful! ;)

I enjoyed this story a lot. Having two people tell this story was interesting. Scarlet Chase and Aiden Snow helped the characters come to life. This was Bailey and Mason's story, second in the series. Two people who do not feel they deserve or have time for a relationship find they actually cannot control things that much. Despite his reservations, Mason was a wonderful person but once in a while became someone I did not like. He seemed real as he fought his emotions, someone to relate to. I loved Bailey's determination and duty to family. Between the two of them, their pasts definitely made me cry as things came to light. I highly recommend this story.

I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

With NOR we have another office romance for the Brew Crew. I really enjoyed Bailey and Mason’s story. I loved how Sloane steps in to mentor Bailey. I feel too often we see a woman in a powerful position but not how she got there. Bailey’s “secret” is finally revealed explaining why she leaves work promptly every night. I think that is one of the reason why I enjoyed Bailey and this book as much as I did. We get to see an independent, young, smart woman with more responsibility than most others her age. I hope this series continues because I wouldn’t mind meeting more of the Crew.

I loved Bailey and Mason together. They were an age gap, office romance pair who were both hiding life baggage. Neither wanted a relationship and the start, so it was fun to see them breakdown each other's walls. This book was more emotional than the first in the series, but just as steamy. I did wish that this book had been written in first person like Jamieson's newer novels, but it was still her great writing. If there was a third book in the series, I would read it.

Mason and Bailey

A sweet steamy but complicated office romance. Mason is a moody hot alpha boss and Bailey is a advertising media expert learning her way around a male dominated environment. It is quite entertaining and a sweet read. HEA, no cheating. Lots of zany office characters keep it light even though there are some difficult family issues to overcome. It’s a definite good read.

Bailey and Mason are a perfect pair! She's the bit of optimism he needs to see life from another perspective. Although I'm pretty sure if I had to work with some of those guys I'd have to kill them, I'd still keep Mason around.

Enjoyed this immensely. Even though it was fictional, it seemed more grounded in reality than many. Watching the romance develop despite all the “real life” was a great read. Though technically I listened to the audiobook- which was outstanding.

My Review:
Just like the first book in this series, I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I liked this book. This series is so smart and fun...I really do like it...and I don't know why that keeps surprising me. I should know by now that I really do enjoy this author's writing. And even she compares the office where the whole series takes place to Mad Men, the show, and I can totally see that. And this story pairs an unlikely couple.

On paper, Bailey is a young, single, attractive girl. She's only 25 and doesn't have much responsibility in the advertising firm yet. She's a bombshell...long blonde hair and a really nice figure...but that definitely doesn't always work for her as people underestimate her. She actually has a ton of responsibility and life on her plate. She's never been able to be the happy-go-lucky, carefree single girl that everyone expects her to be.

Several tiers up the executive ladder at the ad firm is Mason. He's significantly older than her at 36...but he also is dealing with a lot personally. Neither one of these people want or can handle a relationship, but their chemistry sizzles so they agree upon a sexual relationship...when they can manage it. For Bailey that isn't very often because of all the responsibilities in her life. And as things are apt to do...emotions get involved although that was never part of the plan or the bargain.

What I like about this series is just how deeply we get to go into the everyday life of the advertising agency. It's interesting. And since most of this group's focus is on the craft beer market, it makes for some fun ideas and brainstorming sessions. The brew crew is known for their irreverent ways...they are a fun group and that comes through in the stories, too...even though they sometimes go too far. This story had the added benefit of some football thrown in too. Mason is best friends with an ex NFL player and now coaches a kids team.

It's a fun series and one that I thoroughly enjoy reading. Like I said, it's smart and entertaining. This one had an added detail of some serious angst. Mason has a very good reason for why he doesn't want to get involved again. I won't post any spoilers, but it's extremely emotional and I thought those scenes were written really, really well. I liked both him and Bailey...a lot. They both had great back-stories which made their HEA even sweeter.

Now I want to know what comes next for the Brew Crew. There was a glimpse of an m/m scene in the restroom which showed for some great conflict. Please, Kelly Jamieson, please tell me we're going to get to see more of those guys!! Please...

Welcome back to the world of Huxworth Packard. This time we are introduced to Bailey and Mason. And I have to tell you, I just could not wait for this one. While Levi and Sloane where hot, Mason intrigued me with his "mysterious" side and I couldn't wait to meet Bailey since she showed how dedicated she was and wanted to move up the corporate ladder in Limited Time Offer.

Bailey Harris is a media consultant who wants to move up the corporate ladder. But she has found that you can't really move up when you leave the office everyday at 5. So when her mentor, Sloane, suggests she starts to attend more work functions, Bailey has to do some juggling at home to attend but not only finding someone to watch her baby sister, the man she has had a crush on will also be attending the same functions. Mason Ward.

Mason Ward is the Executive Creative Director at Huxworth Packard. He may come off as a hard a$$ but that's okay. He gets the Brew Crew focused and the job done. While Mason's cold heart doesn't let him have fun, he uses the one thing he has to let off steam. Sex and lots of it. So when the media consultant he's lusted for shows up at a work function he's a little off his game. While he wouldn't mind a night with her, the age difference would surely be an issue for him. Right??

When these two get together for that one night, it's off the charts hot but will that be enough for or will two nights be enough? When it turns into more than that, it becomes harder and harder to hide their "relationship" from everyone in the office. Not only that, Bailey's secret becomes harder to hide. While she debates telling Mason, she knows he has something that he's hiding too. When she tells him about her home life she hopes Mason will do the same. But he doesn't. When she accidentally stumbles upon what he has been hiding from everyone, tempers flare. Is this the end of the relationship? Can the Brew Crew and Mason's best friend bring these two back together? Only time will tell.

This book will make you laugh. It will pull at your heartstrings. And it will make you need a cold glass of wine. You won't be able to put it down until you realize that it's over and it will make you want more. I can't say enough about Kelly. I have a been an avid reader of hers and I just love how she has developed such get characters. I can really relate to Bailey which doesn't happen often with me. I can't wait for the next book and see which one of the Brew Crew will be next to develop an office relationship.

3.5 stars. There was plenty that I enjoyed about this book. I liked both Bailey and Mason – even if Bailey’s secretiveness about her sister was kind of baffling at times – and I loved seeing the Brew Crew again and catching up with their latest shenanigans. I also really liked that even though this is technically an office romance, the pair of them are professional enough not to be banging in the office, while somehow keeping it a secret from everyone.

However, there were also a couple of things I didn’t enjoy so much. One which kind of surprised me. The sex. Specifically Mason’s dirty talk. It wasn’t dirty so much as just swearing. All the time. And kind of crude. I had a few issues with the dirty talk in the last book too, but for different reasons. This time whenever Mason started swearing I just sort of lost interest. Yes, he’s all take-chargy and manly and… yeah, moving on.

The other thing that crept up on me throughout the book is the way everyone treats Phoebe in the office. Yes, okay, I get that she’s a blonde cliché and not the brightest bulb in the light socket, but the constant smirking and subtle put downs about her intelligence really irritated me. And I expected a lot more to come of that not-so-nice practical joke. Maybe it’ll be dealt with in another book, but here it was just forgotten and I didn’t like that. Considering that she’s only a side character, I’m surprised how much this got to me, but there we go.

However, away from those two things, I enjoyed this one. Bailey is an interesting character, strong and determined, ambitious but also caring and I wanted all good things for her. As for Mason, he has a dark past and some serious issues, but I liked how he and Bailey were together and how they managed to take care of each other without even realising it.

Overall this somehow manages to be sweet and fun while also having lots of sex and office politics. I look forward to seeing what the Brew Crew get up to next – clearly there’s a lot more going on with this bunch than meets the eye.

Mason and Bailey are co-workers and find themselves attracted to each other. Mason is 11 years her senior and originally scoffs at any type of relationship with Bailey. Bailey has to care for her 10-year-old sister, Maya so she has to leave work on time, etc. Instead of just letting everyone know that is her situation, she hides it, which was ridiculous. She thought it would be used against her because they would think she was unable to handle a greater workload. Apparently she didn't think it worked against her that she couldn't work late, couldn't attend social events and night meetings? Mason suffered a huge tragic loss and has never fully recovered. He doesn't speak of it and just tries to move on with his life in the only ways he knows how, no-strings sex. Mason and Bailey finally decide to have a casual relationship because both claim they can't do anything serious. Bailey had feelings for Mason from the start and just pretended not to in the hopes that he would decide she was worth keeping around. I always feel a bit uncomfortable when the h doesn't admit her true feelings and hopes, but claims she only wants something casual. Things go okay for a while, but then Bailey stumbles on Mason's past and he doesn't handle it well. Bailey thought she did nothing wrong (I thought she did) and she confronts Mason and it spirals out of control for a bit. Mason finally confesses his tragic past and all are left with the fallout. Bailey tried to be supportive (when she wasn't being selfish and putting her feelings first) but she failed. I did like how Mason realized that he could move on and that he was willing to try. I would have like a better epilogue but overall a good book.
