"Take Words With You" is a comprehensive compilation of approximately 1500 promises and Scripture prayers (ESV) to provide tangible traction to our prayers. It is intended to fortify our prayers with God’s Word and to build a strong faith in God in the one praying. It is also intended to better align the believers praying with the will of God, which God has promised to answer:

This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. (1 John 5:14)

This is a bit of an unusual book. The main portion of the book is designed to be used as you pray. There are categories with lots of Bible verses to use while praying. I developed a similar system years ago and am grateful for the additional categories & verses. However, the best part of the book, which is why I gave it 5 stars, is the appendix, which contains a number of short essays on a variety of topics related to prayerlessness. While nothing is what you might call 'deep theology,' these mini essays provide some insight to guide and encourage both self and others. For the price, I consider this to be an excellent value.

This book is my favorite prayer resource. It is a reference work of some 2500 Scripture promises and prayers organized in a helpful way. I don't exactly follow Kerr's "prayer method" and initially found it a little cumbersome but I haven't given it a lot of effort.

In the preface Kerr mentions that he took great care to not pull texts out of context in a way that distorts the meaning. I really appreciate that and get the sense that he really did work hard at this. I haven't come across any texts that concern me.

I recommend the 5th edition. I hope he expands it.

I haven't really read through this whole book of scriptures, but it isn't really meant to be read cover to cover. But anyway, this is an awesome book full of verses to guide your prayers!

This looks like a handy reference for praying God's word in various situations and circumstances - not really a book to sit down, read, and finish. I think it will be good to have available.
