A bodyweight training guide designed for use in a prison cell. Using the oldest form of exercise, without the need for weights, this book will guide you through the process of understanding how to make bodyweight training work, whatever your personal training goals. The exercises are suitable for any age, ability and fitness level and offers progression for everyone. There are step-by-step instructions of how to perform the exercises, with photographs and sample workouts to follow. The aim of this book is to benefit the physical and mental health of people in prison and outside. Get the body you want - inside and out!
Anyone who's trying to get into calisthenics, should first educate themselves on how their body is going to react to strength training, and on how to maintain a diet for maximum gains, before they read this book. Although I am impressed by the workout regime provided in this book, it does disappoint me with the lack of information on proper diet and nutrition. Keep in mind, the author is not a certified instructor (atleast not at the time he wrote this book).
Basically shows you in-depth details on how to use your own body weight for resistance or stamina training. Basically has planks and stuff and methods on your breathing.
To be honest there are some exercises in this book that are very helpful that the average gymgoer would not know about.
Amazing book. really good book for somebody wanting to get into shape with immediate action. Very intense, They brought it out when the "Insanity training" and stuff hit the shelves.
Insanity was a quick 60 or 30-minute workout you would do on a mat and you would copy the screen, it is high intensity to elevate heart rate.
I did it in Prison with my mate's dad. My mate's dad was a Gym officer in the local nick and oversaw insanity Sessions.
He got me into it every day, absolutely loved it.
I had a fascination with buddhist yoga and flexibility and insanity had flexibility sessions.
We could say it's pretty basic as most exercises are well known ones, but this book has several good points. Completeness for starters, I have seen few books like this one that allows you to train almost every muscle you have. Then clarity, it tells you exactly what to do and why, with clear images that allows no doubt. Then, it delivers what it promises, no little print or anything, you can perform a quite complete set of exercises with only your body and a 3x3 space, or less.
Definitely I would recommend it as a guide to return to basics and and gain, or re gain a solid base.
