3 - "At some point, you have to shit or get off the pot." Stars.

I finally realized what my problem is with this series while reading the sixth installment. Although every episode has been written extremely well and Rebecca Zanetti’s is no exception. The flow of the many different story-lines has been consistent and the general movement of the plot steady. But, I cannot actually think of one character (and there are many of them) that I actually find particularly likeable, or feel any empathy for.

”We jump in with both feet.”

While I think the premise of this series is good, I just think that at this point in the proceedings something or someone should start shining, in fact with the number of characters and the lives they are living it should be more than one. There isn’t anything particularly dislike-able about a lot of them either, but no one really stands out.

”Either you and I move forward, or we stop.”

Rebecca integrates Marisol Moreno and Patrick Murphy into this installment, and once again like many of the plot points in the previous novellas it all fizzles out again by the time you finish reading… The thrills and spills of the first episode or two seem to have lost momentum as well to be honest, and I am really interested to see how the last two authors; Lisa Mondello and Dee Davis are actually going to pull it all together into a cohesive conclusion…

Storm, Texas is more of a subtle breeze at the moment, rather than a blustering gale.

Marisol is haunted by feelings of inadequacy as a surrogate parent. While she is wallowing in self-recrimination, her budding relationship with Patrick may be on the line. Will he deliver an ultimatum? Luis’ hormones are raging, his better judgment has taken a vacation and one tiny foil packet may mark him for trouble from one big brother.
Playing footsie with Senator Rush is becoming a dangerous game that can’t be won. When his mommy gets involved, someone will have to pay with more than broken dreams and a broken heart. Is Ginny’s new relationship getting out of hand?

It seems the youth of Storm are following the examples set by their parents as the air is further tainted by the stench of lies and there is more cheating going on than during a math final.

Take the Storm by Rebecca Zanetti brings back the high voltage tension of pure soap opera bliss as she zips through town and uncovers what is going on behind closed doors in Storm. A bucket load of characters become entwined in the angst of the youth of storm and no one will come away unscathed.

Ms. Zanetti knows timing as she drives to the edge of the “tension” cliff and suddenly we are ensnared in just one more tale in a town full of dirty little secrets. Watch where you step and take an umbrella, because it will all hit the fan sooner or later!

ARC REVIEW

Episode 6: Take the Storm is brought to us by Rebecca Zanetti. One of my favorite authors by far, normally I love everything she writes but I can't give this one higher than a 3.5 star. I enjoyed it more than the first three. Unlike the others this one is probably the only one that can be read out of order and you still kinda get what's going on. Rebecca Zanetti wraps up the drama very nicely and puts it in a nutshell as a good reminder, and a filler to "fill in" those who might be lost or came in late (just like a soap would do). This one, I like how things progressed in the story, but was really disappointed with the ending. I felt like hitting Marisol with her own book the whole time. I love Patrick, I feel sorry for him he deserves better.

So this episode centers around the eldest Moreno child, Marisol. Marisol put her life on hold when her parents died to help raise her two siblings, Ginny and Luis. Patrick Murphy has patiently waited on the sidelines as a friend for Marisol. Finally with Ginny and Luis old enough Patrick makes his move; Marisol however still isn't ready. Marisol has never done anything for herself and this is her chance. Patrick tired of waiting gives Marisol an ultimatum, be with me completely or not at all.
Also in this episode; more drama between Mallory, Luis, and Lacey. Dakota really starts to show signs of delusion and high ambitions but the Senator isn't a man to cross, neither is his mummy. Dakota also gives her sister, Mallory, some really bad advice. Brit and Marcus kiss and make-up and Ginny and Lucas are happy.

With every passing episode the foreshadowing of the impending storm and all hell breaking loose drives me more and more insane. Come on already get with the drama I know I'm not getting a happy ending. The fuse is long enough just let the thing blow.

Episode 6 of the Rising Storm Series picks off where it last left off in the previous book. And in this episode, I found myself enjoying this installment more than the previous episode. What I particularly liked in this episode was the stirring of the drama and the upcoming storm that is approaching on the residents of STORM. Though this installment was primarily focused on Marisol Moreno and her relationship with Patrick, I thought the author did a great job incorporating the other ensemble's drama into the mix. Rebecca Zanetti did a great job writing this installment as she was able to satisfy our curiosity with the ongoing secrets and scandals. Of course on the forefront leading the torrential downpour of drama, Ginny and Dakota continue cause célèbre. I can't wait to see how this series wraps up in the last two books.

What an exciting addition to this serial series. Each episode keeps getting better and better. Just when I think I’ve seen and heard it all, Rebecca Zanetti is quick to prove me wrong. In true soap opera tradition, Rebecca Zanetti has really upped the tension and angst factor. As with each story/episode, we are digging deeper and becoming more lost in the lies of this town. Watch out everyone! The storm is coming and when it arrives, no one will be safe! I can’t wait to see where our next episode will take us!

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Drama, drama, drama in this installment that focuses on what could be in love.

Opening Sentence: Stars glittered across the wide Texas sky, reflecting off the dark lake.

The Review:

Take the Storm is the sixth novella in the Rising Storm series. Drama, drama, drama really hits the fan in this episode. Not that there hasn’t been much drama to this point because there has been but the turning point where things aren’t going so well have finally surfaced. It’s not just all love and happiness. We have visited quite a few people who aren’t happy with the person they are with, but this installment was more about people not quite coping with what could make them happy.

Marisol Moreno has dedicated her life to raising her younger sister and brother after their parents died. This episode is dedicated to revealing her feelings and why she makes the decisions that she does. Marisol’s sister, Ginny, is pregnant and her brother, Luis, is suffering from a bad breakup. Marisol feels that she has been a failure as a parent or else her brother and sister wouldn’t be in the positions that they are in. Marisol also dedicates her time to running her own bakery, which also takes up a lot of her time.

Patrick Murphy has been trying to date Marisol for years. They’ve had more of a friendly, flirty relationship but Patrick believes it is time for them to become more than just friends. Patrick gives Marisol an ultimatum, he won’t wait around any longer.

Patrick is quite a conundrum for me. I wanted to like him but he also has some decisions of his own that he needs to figure out. If the story goes in the direction that I think it will, I may be disappointed in the outcome.

Take the Storm reveals Marisol’s decision and ends with a not so shocking confrontation for Dakota. I’ve really been enjoying this series so far, I can’t wait to read what is next for the town of Storm. I really can’t wait for little Miss Dakota to learn a life lesson about how terrible she is towards her mother.

Notable Scene:

“Your grandmother is a judgmental bully, and she did make me mad.” Marcus pulled Brittany closer and settled his hands on her hips. “But this is all about you and me. I like you.” He slid a hand up and tangled it in her hair, tilting back her head. “You’re smart, sweet, and so beautiful it hurts.” Then he slanted his mouth over hers and kissed her deep.

Her knees actually wobbled. She returned the kiss, caught up in the storm unleashed by a man wilder than she could ever hope. Would he stay in Texas?

Finally, he released her.

Her lips tingled, and her body craved. Oh, she’d kissed boys before, but they didn’t come close to Marcus. He was all man. She was close enough she could feel how hard he’d become in his jeans.

He glanced down at her lips, and his nostrils flared.

She lifted her chin. “I don’t know where we’re going, but I really like you, too.”

I'm starting to think I have a single minded interest in this series. There are many people I don't care enough to read about but when it comes to Luis Moreno and Mallory Alvarez, I'm all over that hot mess!

I really enjoyed how TAKE THE STORM goes back a bit more on how it gives you bits and pieces of a lot of different town people's lives instead of completely focusing on one couple and their troubles. As much as we get to see Luis in the aftermath of the Lacey debacle and wanting Mallory back with a passion (but not doing anything about it), we also see a glimpse of Dakota, Ginny, and more recently Marisol and Patrick.

I can't say I didn't see Marisol's decision at the end coming, but I was hoping for a bit more between them. There is always next season right? Because the way things are going I only foresee that getting worst before it can get better.

I really want to see something from Dillon and Joanne, they have been sort of background noise for most of the series when they were such a big part at the beginning. My only concern now as the end of the first "Season" approaches is how much will get resolved before the next batch of stories is released. This is such a big plot and as of yet, we have not seen answers. Just more and more tangles. I just don't know that I'll have the commitment to stick to a whole other season before getting those answers and seeing things blow up in people's faces.

“Take the Storm” is the latest novella in the Rising Storm series. This episode was written by Rebecca Zanetti. This was another great addition to the series, with lots of drama and suspense about which relationships are about to fall apart. In “Take the Storm,” we see more of all the characters from the previous episodes. I definitely recommend reading these novellas in order, because each one builds upon the previous one.

Some of the things readers can expect from this episode (without me giving too much away) are: a girl fight, a teenager drunk on moonshine, a failed sexual encounter, a crazy young woman who foolishly believes a senator will leave his wife for her, and another young woman who is getting into a serious relationship while keeping a huge secret that will definitely ruin everything if anyone finds out, especially the man who she’s fallen for because he thinks she’s all sweet and honest. Ha! There is no one sweet or honest in this series, except maybe for Mallory who just makes typical teenager mistakes. The rest of them are either lying to each other or lying to themselves.

I thought this episode was as well written as the previous ones. The tone was a little different, but that’s just probably due to variations in writing styles from author to author.

If you haven’t read the Rising Storm series yet and like soap operas, I recommend you give it a try. I never read contemporary romance, but I have to admit that I’m glad that I took a chance on reviewing these. I have gotten hooked on these characters. I am just waiting for the big storm to blow in (figuratively) so everything can be destroyed.

Marisol and Patrick's story. Patrick is ready to take their relationship to the next level but Marisol keeps pushing him away. Will Patrick turn away from Marisol when he issues her the ultimatum...all in or nothing. The town of rumors and lies, where nothing is what it seems and no one will be left untouched when the "Storm" blows through. So hooked on this series, can't wait for the next one. In this episode Marisol is giving an ultimatum by Patrick. Luis and Mallory try to take it to the next level. Senator Rush is still a dirtbag. I still want to throat punch Dakota. And I'm still waiting for the storm............

I love Rebecca Zanetti and her installment of this series is by far the one I have enjoyed the most. Episode #6 gives us Marisol and Patrick. Marisol protects heart to the point that no one will be able to get in. Her relationship with Patrick Murphy is now going to be tested. Patrick is tired of waiting around, but will Marisol be able to unguard herself? With guardianship of her younger brother Luis who has relationship issues of his own and is acting out as teenagers do, and her younger sister Ginny pregnant, with a huge secret and beginnings of a budding new relationship, this story is one of family, fear of commitment and the crazy small town happenings. Natalie Ross is an amazing narrator and her depiction of this family is one that is definitely worth the listen.

This is the sixth book in the Rising Storm series. These books read like a soap-opera type book.

In this book we meet a family with an autistic child. Ginny is trying to figure out where she is going to live. Shes been tip-toeing around the Salts for 3 months, and shes digging Logan a lot.

I am not a fan of these books. My main complaint is they are childish. They also have so many characters they are hard to keep straight. We are again introduced to new characters in this book. It is extremely hard to care about any of them because there are so many. Gah!!! If you want a quick read with a ton of drama, read this series. If you want a book with substance, skip it. Happy reading :)

So by now you are well aware of my little (ok maybe NOT so little) addiction to soaps and the soap operaish series Rising Storm. And how I may just get a little giddy when I see a new episode appear on my kindle each week. So this week we are three-quarters of the way through the season as we hit Episode #6 Take The Storm by Rebecca Zanetti.

This week the focus is on Marisol Moreno. We have gotten to know her throughout the weeks as she has interacted and cared for her sister Ginny and her brother Luis. This has in fact been her life... caring and parenting her siblings ever since her parents died and she left college to step into their role. Yet, it seems like she never feels as if she is good enough, perfect enough for them. She worries that every slip up they have (and trust me there are slips - some typical some a bit more) is all her fault. She takes every slight deeply and personally. And because of this Marisol has put her own life on hold. But Ginny is in college, and quite noticeably preggers and living with the Salts now (can we say slap on the face to her sister!) and Luis is in High School (with his own set of teen angst and drama) it really should be ok for Marisol to start stepping outside of the bubble she has set up around herself. And clearly Patrick Murphy thinks it is time too! He has been hanging around, trying with Marisol. It is clear to everyone they have feelings. But she has been shying away forever now. And Patrick is now putting his foot down. What will Marisol do? Will she come around and let Patrick into her life? Or will she continue to ride the storm alone?

I loved getting into both Marisol and Patrick's mind. Seeing what they were both thinking and why. It is interesting because it left me both frustrated and more understanding at the same time. I could see where Marisol was coming from and empathise with her while at the same time wanting to shake her and say look at this amazing man you have standing here. And seeing Patrick's thoughts and how he wanted to swoop in and help her out and be there and support her, yet at the same time I wanted to shake him and say then don't give an ultimatum!! Chip away at her!! Don't scare her more!!

I definitely recommend that you tune into this series. Just start from the beginning ;) They are fun, quick reads that will grab, you and suck you in!

I have to say I'm loving this series more and more as each episode is released. We're getting down to the nitty gritty with only two more episodes after this and the proverbial "sh*t is going to hit the fan!" There's so much action occurring in this episode between all the couples with ultimatums being given and relationships solidified and/or changing all on wht appears to be a whim. But as Patrick said while sitting in his father's Pub:

"Have you ever just sensed the calm before the storm?" "Well, I'd like to take the storm away from here, but I don't think it's going to give us much warning"

And he's so right on that it's somewhat eerie! What's unfortunate in this episode though is that one of the couples who I REALLY want to have their HEA just may not get it no matter how badly they both want it. Because one of them is too stubborn, in my opinion to go after what they really want and is letting outside influences affect how they lead their life.

Added to this is the comedy show, and that's what it was, when one of our couples decides to take their relationship to the next level, but due to some circumstances beyond their control, don't quite get there. I cracked up while reading this part of the book.

"The entire room roared into silence and everybody stared at the package resting on the shag carpet. It must've gotten caught on her shorts."

On top of this, Ginny and Logan are getting closer and closer and unfortunately I think their relationship is going to hit some major speed bumps and may never recover by the end of this really great series. They're both in this together, but with some major untruths looming between them.

As this episode closes out, one of the residents of Storm, Texas is even more determined to get what they want no matter who it hurts in the process! I'm so looking forward to next week's episode to see how some of these situations are resolved before the Storm hits hard and heavy!

Secrets, Sex and Scandals …

Welcome to Storm, Texas, where passion runs hot, desire runs deep, and secrets have the power to destroy… Get ready. The storm is coming.

••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars---TAKE THE STORM is the sixth installment in the multi-authored RISING STORM novella serial focusing on the small town of Storm, Texas. Their continuing story looks at Senator Rush’s continued campaign for office while screwing around with a barely legal Dakota Alvarez. As the Senator’s campaign picks up steam, Dakota threatens the Senator when she no longer becomes his number one priority.

Meanwhile, Patrick Murphy continues his pursuit of Marisol Moreno, but with it will come heartbreak when Marisol decides that life is too busy to take on a relationship with Patrick now that her younger sister is pregnant with her dead boyfriend’s baby. TAKE THE STORM also looks at the relationship dynamics of the younger members of Storm, Texas as Luis pines for Mallory while Lacey pushes Luis for something more.

TAKE THE STORM’s ensemble cast of characters continues to resemble a Peyton Place of sex, lies, scandal and secrets. The suspense builds as Sheriff Dillon considers his option as they pertain to Joanne Alvarez, and the truth about her missing and absent husband.

Rebecca Zanetti writes an engaging and gripping installment where the building storm is about to hit Storm Texas in more ways than one. There is little comfort when secrets become gossip; lies becomes dangerous; and scandal is at the center of the town’s first family.

The main focus of this story is Marisol Moreno and her relationship, or lack thereof, with Patrick Murphy. I found Marisol annoying at times. She keeps telling Patrick that she couldn't have a relationship because she needs to be there for her siblings. Well, Ginny's pregnant and living with the Salts, and while Luis is still a teenager, he's old enough that Marisol doesn't need to hover over him. After their parents died, Marisol dropped everything to raise the two. It's time she finally took some time for herself and stopped using them as an excuse.

I felt bad for Patrick. All he wants is to be with Marisol and to help her deal with her family issues. He's patient, but finally gives Marisol an ultimatum--either she's with him or their nothing. You can't blame the guy for being frustrated, considering she's put him off for a year.

Ginny also annoyed me. In this book she comes across as ungrateful for Marisol and what she's done for her and Luis. She refers to the Salts as being a family, as if Marisol and Luis aren't good enough for her. Luis thinks she needs to grow up and acknowledge how much Marisol gave up for them, and he's right. Her attitude in the book made me hope that her secret comes to light soon to knock her down a few pegs.

Dakota's back with her bad attitude, convinced she can get Senator Rush to leave his wife and marry her, even though he keeps telling her that will never happen. Even the Senator's mother's veiled threats don't deter her from her goal.

It seems like more people are hiding more stories, including Pastor Bryce and his wife, Tara, whose story is featured in the next installment. Things are getting tense in Storm, and it's going to be interesting to see how the rest of series plays out.

Luis Moreno is feeling dejected after seeing Mallory Alvarez flirting with other guys, and contrary to his habit Luis gets drunk on moonshine, and ends up complicating his life tenfold, not to say his sister Marisol’s, who is nearing the end of her rope. Marisol relishes her time with Patrick Murphy, but her hesitation to commit has him issuing an ultimatum, which leaves her even more confused. Ginny Moreno’s deception is beginning to weigh on her; she is beginning to behave a bit erratically as she fears that if the truth is known, she could lose it all, and she becomes unpleasant to her real family. The dreaded Senator Rush is after fresh meat, but Dakota Alvarez will not be deterred: she wants out of Storm, Texas, and he is her only hope. The political Rushes have a lot on their plate: getting rid of Dakota, separating Marcus Alvarez and Brittany Rush, all the while getting ready for Founders’ Day and for the upcoming elections.

For anyone who has missed the first 5 episodes, TAKE THE STORM will get them somewhat up-to-date as Rebecca Zanetti succinctly recaps most of what happened previously. Having read all the episodes, I found it unnecessary, but that’s my opinion. I love how complex the characters and the relationships are, and most of all that I really disliked Dakota, and now she has become one of my favourite characters. I hope nothing awful happens to her; I understand the poor misguided girl. Ginny leaves me perplexed; she’s not so nice and sweet anymore, and poor, poor Marisol; I wish I could shake her! And while very little has been said about him, I wonder if my guesses about Jeffry Rush are right… Stay tuned for Episode 7 because the Storm is fast approaching!

In Take The Storm (Rising Storm #6) we get a closer look at Marisol Moreno and Patrick Murphy.

Marisol Moreno owns Cup o' Joe cafe and bakery. She gave up her dreams of college to come home and raise her sister Ginny and brother Luis after the death of her parents. She is so busy trying to keep them all on the straight and narrow, trying to run her business and trying to set a good example for Ginny and Luis that she never has time for herself. Yes, she and Patrick go out, yes, they have shared some bone melting kisses, but she is always trying to keep Patrick at arms length, not wanting to be more than friends, even though in her heart, she knows that is a lie.

Patrick Murphy has it bad for Marisol. He is kind, supportive, loving, and wants more than anything to take things to the next level with Marisol. She might be holding back, putting up walls, but Patrick is persistent and he will do what it takes to break down her walls and get her to see that by letting him in, allowing him to share her load, to let herself lean on him, she is not turning her back on her siblings.

I love Patrick and Marisol. Poor Marisol is so conflicted and unsure. She thinks that she is not enough for Patrick, that he deserves so much more than she can give, and that with that problems of Ginny being pregnant, and Luis making some poor choices, that she needs to consentrate on them, not drag Partick down. Patrick just wants Marisol, and he doesn't care about her road blocks, her responsiblities, he wants to share her troubles.

I cannot wait to see what happens with these two and the rest of the town in the next installment of Rising Storm, where sex, scandal, lies and secrets rule the town.

I received a complimentary copy of this novella from the publisher in exchange for an independent review.

As such, I was parachuted into Episode 6 of this series without any knowledge of the preceding episodes. It's 3-stars as an overall read, but as a soap opera episode it gets all the right marks.

Star 1: To start, a great hook draws you in - talk about being tossed into the bonfire of a love triangle! Moonshine, cat fight, and teenage love!

Star 2: A HUGE cast of soap characters - a self-sacrificing older sister, a drunken teenager, his pregnant younger sister, a war hero, a senator, a slut, an upper class debutante and her boyfriend from the wrong side of the tracks, a disapproving society matron ... OK you get the picture. It was dizzying trying to follow who was related to whom and who was romantically linked to whomever.

Star 3: Secrets. Scandalous secrets. The best kind, that will blow everyone's world apart. There are plenty of bombs ready to explode in Storm, Texas!

Star 4: Humour. Hey, it can't all be about intrigue, betrayal, and bad judgment, right? In true Zanetti fashion, there is room for the ridiculous in the midst of all the romance. Just picture a used condom, a sweatshirt on the wrong person, and vehement (but veracious) protestations that "nothing happened!"

Star 5: Addiction! That's what soaps are all about, right? Remember All My Children, Days of Our Lives, etc. when you wanted to slap all the characters for being idiots but you couldn't stop watching because you still wanted to know what happened next, even though you KNEW it would just be more idiocy? Yeah, now I want to read the Rising Storm series backwards and forwards. Well done!

I didn't love this installment. Take the Storm just kinda of felt unnecessary at times. Below are my main thoughts, more on the series so far and less on the actually book. Overall, I'm still really enjoying the Rising Storm series. Plus I really like that each book is a 2-hour read.

Oh, I know you! I like that we are only following 3-4 point of views each book. The first couple of books were overwhelming. We are following the main characters more, for example: Logan, Marcus, Dakota and Ginny. But then each book mixes in a few others as well.

To much fluff? This book felt more like filler. A few big things happened, but they were overshadowed by all the stuff that didn't happen. If that makes sense... there was a bit too much fluff. There were a couple of "Oh snap!" moments and I can't only imagine what is to come in the last two books.

What about the other people? In the first two episodes, we cover a lot of ground and learn about a lot of people. But as the new installments have released, we focus more and more on just a few characters. So I know I mentioned that I liked following less POV, and I do, but obviously, it was important to introduce a butt load of characters and all there issues, so what about them? I'm just wondering why we should care that that character that we were introduced to in book three, is in love with her boyfriend's brother, because that's all we know, those characters are now MIA.

I’m starting to think I have a single minded interest in this series. There are many people I don’t care enough to read about but when it comes to Luis Moreno and Mallory Alvarez, I’m all over that hot mess!

I really enjoyed how TAKE THE STORM goes back a bit more on how it gives you bits and pieces of a lot of different town people’s lives instead of completely focusing on one couple and their troubles. As much as we get to see Luis in the aftermath of the Lacey debacle and wanting Mallory back with a passion (but not doing anything about it), we also see a glimpse of Dakota, Ginny, and more recently Marisol and Patrick.

I can’t say I didn’t see Marisol’s decision at the end coming, but I was hoping for a bit more between them. There is always next season right? Because the way things are going I only foresee that getting worst before it can get better.

I really want to see something from Dillon and Joanne, they have been sort of background noise for most of the series when they were such a big part at the beginning. My only concern now as the end of the first “Season” approaches is how much will get resolved before the next batch of stories is released. This is such a big plot and as of yet, we have not seen answers. Just more and more tangles. I just don’t know that I’ll have the commitment to stick to a whole other season before getting those answers and seeing things blow up in people’s faces.

Let me start by saying the females of Storm, Texas need to get a clue about what life is really about. The teenagers seem to all be floundering around. The young women just don't have a clue. Especially, Dakota....She is just insane. The grown women all seem to be blind or have no idea of self value or how to handle anything.
I know this is a soap opera series but I feel like the female characters are extremely poor examples of modern day females. There's drama and then there's being blind, crazy, self conscious, weak and belittled. It seems that most of the men have a clue. So why not have at least some women who can be there for themselves and others without so much self doubt? Marisol should be so much stronger. There's no way she has lived through everything she has and accomplished so much and not have any clue of her worth. I've been pulling for her and Patrick from the beginning...She deserves to see herself for the strong, independent, loving Woman that she is and Patrick could help her see that easily. I've enjoyed the series and the author's have done a great job of picking up where the last one left off. Unfortunately, I just don't feel enough is being accomplished in each book and the female characters are getting harder and harder to stomach. I sincerely hope at least some of the woman can get themselves together. Not every woman, with the exception of Mrs. Murphy, in one town can be so spineless, undecided and lost can they? I really enjoy TAKE THE STORM. While Marisol and Patrick have significantly less drama going on then the rest of the town (and this was sort of a nice break at the same time), the readers still have just enough "what will happen" to keep them coming back for more. I like that Marisol has a really good head on her shoulders and isn't willing to jump into anything with Patrick (or anyone else) just for the sake of it or even if it's something that she want. She puts her family first. However, I wish she'd recognized that she needs to take of herself every once in a while and that both Ginny and Luis could benefit from having Patrick around.

Speaking of Luis, it was nice to get a bit more information as to what is going on with the 'younger' residence of Storm. However, with this being episode 6 and being more than half way through this season, it's painfully obvious that we are going to be left with cliff hangers until the next season.

Overall, this was a great and enjoyable read that makes you want to grab the next installment!

As the preparations for the Founders Day are in full swing, an unsettling atmosphere hangs over the town.

Marisol Moreno takes centre stage in this sixth episode of Rising Storm as Patrick Murphy stakes his claim for the woman he loves. With a younger sister pregnant with a “miracle child,” and brother who's drowning his teenage hormonal angst with Cooder's White Lightening it isn't surprising that Marisol is overwhelmed by her responsibilities and plagued with feelings of inadequacy. Will she accept the ultimatum Patrick is offering?

Someone is either desperate or doesn't understand the word “no.” With the Rush matriarch on her case, Dakota is treading a fine, dangerous line.

A spotlight shifts towards the church and minister Bryce, who's struggling with his beliefs after his son is diagnosed with autism. Instead for finding solace within his faith, he's feeling isolated and disillusioned not only from his church but his family too. Where is this uncertainty going to lead?

Take the Storm is perfectly crafted by Rebecca Zanetti who's managed to crank-up the uncomfortable feeling of the unknown...the storm! With so many loose ends with potential to cause emotional devastation we are left hanging desperately, waiting for the next episode.

Episode 6 in the Rising Storm series. I do not recommend reading these out of order.

In this installment, Marisol and Patrick have finally reached a point in their relationship where it's either all or nothing, thanks to Patrick who has had enough of Marisol's stalling. Yeah for Patrick! Dakota is wading (make that jumping) into deep, dark and dangerous waters where the Senator is concerned and she's blatantly ignoring everyone's advice and even threats. The girl is just stupid. Louis is trying desperately to regain Mallory's trust and affection, all the while trying to curb his raging emotions and hormones. With everything that's going on, this latest episode just adds onto the already existing story lines with even more hints of impending disasters. With that said, Ginny's secret may just not be secret very much longer.

The reason for the three star review is the same reason I quit watching soap operas in my twenties. I just quit caring about the characters because nothing is ever really resolved or finished. Next we get to visit yet another couple, Pastor Bryce and his wife Tara and see what impending disaster they will face. I'd rather at least ONE of the story lines gets resolved before adding a new one. I want to see SOMETHING happen.

I received an ARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's release day promotions.

You know why sopa operas are always a hit? It's because of the drama. Everywhere you go in a soap opera, there's always drama. Drama everywhere. The conflicts always seem larger than life. The stories are one for the books. That's also mainly the reason why I really enjoy reading this serial. Take The Storm is now the 6th episode of this addictive soap-opera-in-words that features different author with each episode.

This episode is written by Rebecca Zanetti. If you know her at all, you'd know that she excels in the paranormal romance genre, but she also has contemporary romance novels that are great to read. Reading this episode, I really have to commend the way that she was able to incorporate all the side characters while focusing on the main characters' story and doing all of that in limited words, as this book is not your full length novel, after all. While this episode is still not the unravelling that I've been waiting for, it certainly leads to more exciting twists and more thrilling possibilities.

This series is a lot of fun! The pacing overall has felt pretty good, the authors are keeping the voice fairly consistent throughout the series and they are working on hard on keeping that soap opera feel.

This episode moves several of the stories forward as we're getting ready for the Big Bang that's coming on Founder's Day. Dakota is causing Sebastian problems, Ginny is still keeping her secret even though it's getting to her and Mallory and Luis begin to repair their relationship (yay!)

We see problems for Patrick ahead (oh dear lord no! you cannot save everyone) and Marisol is in for a world of hurt now that she's cut him loose. However, good for Patrick for pushing the issue!

Dillon is still mooning over Joanne (come on dude, make your move! do NOT let it pass you by again!)

However again NO (none! NADA! mentioned in passing!!) Payton! We need more on her story! And Jeffry!

And Brittany is definitely not going to let Marylee dictate her actions. Yes girl! And when Ginny's secret comes out, I think we're going to see an even stronger side to Brittany.
