When I met Tyler Cook, it was the end of a past I didn’t want to look back on and the beginning of a future I couldn’t wait to start.
One lick of Tyler, and that’s all it took. I was addicted. To him, to his wild, raucous life as a rock star on the road with the band Trouble, and eventually, to most of the drugs I discovered he was taking to make that life—and the secrets he was being forced to keep—a little more bearable.
But I couldn’t quit him, no matter how much it hurt. If you met Tyler, you’d understand why I think he’s so worth it. The man plays guitar like he f*cks—plugged in, turned on, and set to the ultimate high. Every girl wants him but I’m the only girl he wants.
Now he’s clean, he’s mine, and I have everything I could have ever dreamed of.
Until it all comes unplugged and our world goes blacker than black. And then I have to decide if the tormented, broken man I love more than anything is worth everything—even risking my own life.
Emme Rollins is a NEW YORK TIMES Bestselling Author of New Adult/Mature Young Adult fiction. She’s been writing since she could hold a crayon and still chews her pen caps to a mangled plastic mess. She did not, however, eat paste as a kid.
She has two degrees, a bachelor’s and a master’s, one of which she’s still paying for, but neither of which she uses out in the “real world,” because when she isn’t writing, she spends her time growing an organic garden to feed her husband and children (and far too many rabbits and deer!) where they live on twenty gorgeous forested acres in rural Michigan.

This is such a fantastic story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Katie has moved to LA to be with Tyler because his tour is finishing up. Katie and Tyler have been in love for so long. They have gone thru A LOT, this is their time to make their life be what they want it to be. This book picks up where Trouble Makers ended. Katie is out of rehab and headed home. Home to her lover , ready to start living her life with her love. See, Trouble Makers told the story from Rob and Sabrina's perspective and Katie and Tyler's POV. Tyler and Katie are like two broken people who meet and end up mending themselves piece by piece. Only problem is, with starting a new relationship, recovering addicts will slip back into drug addiction – Also, Katie and Tyler have secrets and its finding out who knew what, when and what people knew those secrets and when did they know it-Its like a regular whodunit kind of story but with a seductive twist. I am so hooked—And OMG, the lovemaking between Katie and Tyler-Holy Heck Batman, it is off the chain. If you need to read any background, I recommend, going back and reading the previous books in the series to get a better understanding, otherwise, this will take you on a ride, one you will never want to get off. I cannot wait for the next book that will continue the Trouble storyline.
My rating: 4.5 stars ****
***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****
I received an ARC from Emme Rollins in exchange for an honest review & who could say no? I love all the Trouble books & Trouble in Paradise is no exception. Emme Rollins writes about real people in real-life situations with a genuine appreciation of the problems, the highs and lows and even the tragedy that can strike out of nowhere. She is, undoubtedly, a gifted writer. Tyler and Katie suffered through drug addiction and recovery and are now back together, with their loved ones surrounding them. There is so much more ahead for these two young lovers but some people have to fight every inch of the way & so it is with Katie & Tyler. Their lives are under scrutiny from the public, there are shocks, enemies, both old and unexpected and love just might not be enough to save them both. Trouble in Paradise is a must read - don't think, just one-click. You'll never be disappointed with any Trouble.
This is a MUST READ! Another wonderful and heart wrenching story! Emme Rollins is amazing!
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review and I have to say I loved it! You get to see the story continue to unfold from Sarah and Tyler's perspective. You're able to see truly what makes them who and how they are in the previous books. It feels like all the pieces come together and you can see the story as a whole. This book is emotional, exciting, and written spectacularly. There is so much more to their story than I expected! This is a great addition to the Trouble series. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
Emme Rollins has her own style of writing with great attention to details and thought-provoking story lines, and wonderful characters that tie into the previous books in this series. Her characters aren't just characters, they are people; people who have real feelings, real struggles, and real strengths. Trouble in Paradise is emotional, enthralling, intriguing, consuming, overwhelming, captivating, intense, gritty, and raw. Filled with angst, secrets, revenge, tragedy, and of course, unending love, you'll be captivated from the very first page until the very last.
Wow this was an such an intense read. I felt like I was on the emotional roller coaster and I was physically drained afterwards. There was so much emotion hurt going on in this book. Trying to overcome the heavy burden of demons that plagued your everyday life it just lets me with goosebumps after I was done reading it. Overall a great read.
This is my honest review wow that was good. very easy to follow along with even with many characters in it but I found that I love how they held strong as a family. addiction is hard in itself to deal with with even childhood trauma on top of it that's even harder. great job. plus I liked how the two main characters help each other not give up even when they messed up.
Wow. I thought the last book in Rob and Sabrina’s trilogy packed a punch. But seeing those same events from Katie and Tyler’s perspective had the emotional impact of a speeding freight train. So much happens in this book. Some of it we’ve seen from a different angle, and we also learn a lot new about our other favorite Trouble couple. There’s still another book to go, and now that they’ve finally found some level ground, I’m almost afraid to find out what’s still in store for Katie and Tyler.
The long European road trip is over, the two lovers are to be reunited. However, there are secrets that will tear the couple apart, as well as be almost the death of all of them.
A dramatic episode with explosive sequences, that will leave the reader raw and asking for more.
*received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
Oh boy, this was intense. I've never read a book about drugs before (do detective novels count?) so it was definitely new territory for me. And I enjoyed every terrifying, sappy 'oh my god' moment. It started out frighteningly enough, but I got so caught up in Katie's memories that I forgot how the whole thing started before she brought it back to that point. By then, I was anticipating the tear-jerkers as if I was watching a bloody crime show. This is the first book I've read from this author and series, so I'm not sure how old Katie is, but I found that it's a detail not at all important. Age doesn't defy pain or tragedy, and it certainly doesn't define one's maturity.
Her roller coaster ride was seriously heady, and Rollins did an amazing job at emphasizing on the anxiety. The clear, thought out process and repeats on some things made not so subtle hints on things meant to be burned in the back of your mind, but I didn't mind them so much, because they served well as reminders for what was going on or had happened in the past four books.
The ARC I received had a few errors in them, so it took away from my flow of reading. Rollins also has her own way of writing, with a lot of good details and thought processes that force you to slow down and actually take in what you're reading, so it took a bit of chapters for me to get into her flow, but once I did, the experience went from reading a book to watching something on HBO (inside joke). Her details make this story more of a mental view from Katie's POV, meaning there's less dialogue (than other mainstream novels) to tell the story and more of Katie's recollections, an almost autobio in story format. I didn't mind it, but again, it was something to get used to. It was well worth it.
For a time I didn't think I'd recover from reading something with such dark subjects but I fell hard for Katie and Tyler's love. <3 I cringed less and cried more every time something was about to happen. Excellent job at the suspense and giving near heart attacks, btw, Rollins. Amazing. And the sex scenes? First one came out of nowhere like a well respected right hook. *thumbs up*
I recommend this book to those who love a good romance between two seemingly broken people who have to learn to live again. There's drugs, seriously dark subjects I can't say without spoiling the whole thing, but this is overall a story filled with a different face of love, a darker shade of reality with the smallest hint of despair. Just a bit. It was enough to make me cover my mouth at one point denying whatever lines I read. This is a ride, a heady and interesting view of a woman who went through a lot of things, including her own cage of a mind. Definitely not a book to regret.
Emotional…with what I have read today I feel like I’ve been through everything right along with Tyler and Katie. That only happens when you have an author like Ms. Rollins who knows how to write a book that takes you along for the ride with the characters of her book. I read this in one day which for me hardly ever happens. I couldn’t put it down because I felt so invested in Tyler and Katie.
Tyler and Katie’s relationship was every fan girl’s dream; meet famous and sexy rock star, have an unforgettable night with him, and get asked to go on tour with him. Yes, then the bad parts come in with the drug use but Tyler and Katie never lost their way to each other. As you know from reading Trouble Makers (and if you haven’t read it…get to it, now along with all the other books in this series) Tyler and Katie both were battling their own demons and they were easily sucked into the world of addiction. It was what they did with their relationship after coming out on the other end after rehab that this story takes place.
The problem with them was all of the secrets that Tyler was keeping and then you have to add in to it the guilt that Katie was feeling over what happened with Sabrina, her best friend and Rob Burns’ girlfriend. You have to read this to find out what all of these secrets were and what all the guilt was about. In the end were Katie and Tyler able to escape the road to relapse with all the turmoil they both went through? If Tyler can keep secrets is he actually telling Katie everything he is hiding? Can their relationship survive all of this even if they know how to please each other in and out of bed and is their love strong enough to pull them through all of the drama? I loved this book and cannot wait for Trouble Rising to come out. If you love rock romance books this is a definitely for you.
This book was provided as an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Katie has moved to LA to be with Tyler when he returns home from the European leg of Trouble’s tour. She arrives to find that he and Rob live in a huge mansion that is more lavish than she could have dreamt. Expecting to have at least one day to acclimate to this new lifestyle, she is surprised when Tyler returns early. Playing as the main theme of the story, both recovering from heroin addiction, one they shared together, they are now sober and living as a couple. Starting a new relationship is one of the most dangerous times for an addict. Rob and Sabrina are pregnant and finding that Rob’s soon-to-be ex-wife isn’t going quietly. Tyler and Katie are beginning to share secrets and new stresses are added one after another. But addicts are always only one step away from falling back into their demon.
This is my first time reading Emme Rollins and I received the book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The story-line of a Rockstar Tyler and his girl Katie was interesting. I found myself drawn into the secrets of Trouble and their journey. I liked Tyler and Katie and understand the struggles of young people in a profession that considers musicians and entertainers as a disposable commodity. Whilst there is a tragic backstory of family destruction, the main story-line is the addiction of Tyler and Katie to heroin. I question the lack of sober support, no meetings, no sober companion, and no care support outside of a co-dependent atmosphere. I want to see the family survive and thrive and in my opinion, they need more than a cook who feeds them well to be able to succeed in laying their demons to rest.
I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION .... OVER 18 A TERFIC STORY, WISH i HAD KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE AND READ AL THE PAST OOKS AND ALL THE FUTURE ONES. Katie and Sabrina were best friend and loved the rock band Trouble. Katie dreamed of meeting lead guitar Tyler Cook and he would fall in love with her forever, and that Rob Burns, lead singer would fall in love with Sabrina, and her dreams came to.Rob, Tyler, Sarah ,Daisy (Trouble's cook)and Jessie ( the driver) lived together in Rob's big mansion, that's where Katie and Sabrina where being moved to so there stuff would be in Calif. by the time the band and Sabrina got back from the tour the next day. Most were recovering addicts Rob and Sarah in a rehab and later he took her in (like a little sister) her drug of choice was liquor, Katie and Tyler was Heroin, all were clean now. Rob and Sabrina wee expecting a baby, and he wanted to surprise her with a gift when he got home and ask Katie to pick it up. That brings a horror and heartbreak because she was tricked to bring a dangerous person back. There are many secrets in this family and bring much pain as they come out. But the love of each couple is strong enough to help them pull though. Death, secrets of the long ago past, they had been forbidden to tell anyone the secrets. There are many twist and turns, some make you laugh and some make you cry. It is a wonderful story. I do wish that I had read all the ooks leading up to their meeting and each story their after. I will be waiting for the next one.
Not a typical rock star romance. Intriguing characters dealing with some real issues. The true history and backgrounds of the main characters evolve into a romantic suspense story and the surprises keep coming in each book. This book, Trouble in Paradise and Trouble Rising focus on Tyler and Katie and parallel the first three books in the series (Meeting Trouble, Following Trouble and Making Trouble). Where Rob & Sabrina (from the first three books) are the serious & responsible characters, Tyler and Katie are irresponsible and supposedly carefree. In this book, they are dealing with keeping clean of drugs and their co-dependency on each other. But love conquers all in the end.
Each of the stories in the Trouble series build on each other. To get the most enjoyment be prepared to read all the books in order – you won’t be disappointed.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
In this book we find Katie and Tyler after the European leg of the tour has ended. Now they are trying to figure out if they can be together now that they are both clean. Tyler knows that he can't live without this woman and he will do anything to show this to her. Katie is his safe place where he feels like home and freedom. Now he need to make sure she feels those same things with him.
Katie is both excited and scared to have Tyler home from this tour. Can they be together and not drag each other back into their old habits? Being with Tyler feels like nothing she has ever felt before both the good and the bad. She just wants to be his safe place, to give him someone who looks at him and sees him not the rock star he is. She hopes that with everything they went through in the first book they can really have a future now.
In this book if you thought they would get back together and it would be all smooth sailing think again. This book shows some of the hardships with being an addict and what can lead to that addiction problem in the first place. This book again will take you on an emotional roller-coaster that will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. This book is amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
This is a continuation of Katie and Tyler's story. It takes place during the same time line as Rob and Sabrina's story so some things are glossed over. I felt that Katie still had some growing up to do throughout this book. When Tyler surprises her, she pushes an issue almost from the instant she sees him and they finally realizes maybe she should have held back a bit. I get that her character is impulsive, but she spends the whole book blundering around. Yes there were some traumatic things that happened to both she and Tyler but she rationalizes her thoughts on all of it without really getting in depth as to what she did and why. Her whole reaction to Sabrina's shooting was a bit much, especially in light of the fact that Sabrina didn't blame her. Then we are told that after the incident both Rob and Sabrina were in their own little bubble and she and Tyler went into their own little bubble. If she almost killed herself over the guilt, why wouldn't she check on Sabrina and not worry about herself? I also had a hard time with the fact that she seemed to be jealous of Sabrina throughout this book and didn't even venture to find out what was going on with her and Rob. Towards the end, she didn't even know where they stand. For a supposed best friend, she seemed to not be a very good one.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, It took awhile for it to truly get my attention. Then it would lose my attention and I would have to force myself to keep reading until it caught my attention again. Of course, I always have to finish a book or a movie I've started because I just have to know how it ends even if it's a bad book or movie. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the worse book I've read. I think my whole problem is with the subjects of drugs, depression and suicide. I like to read to get away from reality not read about issues I have dealt with in some shape or form in my own life. I read to not think about all the bad issues that face us in real life; but to escape it all. This book is well-written and I would have no problem reading something else by this author depending upon subject matter. Since I'm not familiar with her other books, I don't know if she does write fiction that reads more like fiction than non-fiction. I felt like I was reading a drug-addicts autobiography; which means the author is a really great author to make fiction feel like non-fiction. Unfortunately, I read fiction for a reason. My daughter would probably enjoy this book tremendously. She would probably give this book 5 stars. It's more her cup of tea than mine.
Katie hasn't seen Tyler for a year. Trouble has been on tour in Europe and Tyler is their lead guitarist. Katie and Tyler both went into rehab for drugs before the tour. Katie knew she had to walk away until she was straightened out. Sarah came to stay with her and help her with her recovery. They flew to LA a day early. Rob, Tyler and Sarah all lived in a huge mansion. Katie was sure she would never be able to find her way around. Tyler arrives a day early surprising her. Their reunion is everything she hoped it would be. Rob and Sabrina arrive the next day.Katie cannot believe how advanced Sabrina's pregnancy is. They are waiting for dinner when Rob asks Katie if she picked up Sabrina's surprise. She forgot she was supposed to pick up the puppy Rob had bought for Sabrina. After she picks up the puppy and gives the lady there a ride so she could give them instructions on the care of the puppy. Things go horribly wrong after they arrive and steadily spiral out of control.
Emme Rollins has created a series about not just a band but about how secrets ware a persons mind down. Fast paced, exciting and twist after twist. A thrilling read that is hard to put down.
*ARC received in exchange for an honest review* I loved the original Trouble books about Sabrina and Rob. The Katie and Tyler books are the same timeline but from their point of view. I do enjoy finding out what actually was going on with them during that time. One thing that bothers me in the first Katie and Tyler book and in this one also, is that I feel like they are often saying negative things about Sabrina and Rob, who are their best friends. Also, I felt the first half of this book was better than the second half. When it comes to some major events, I feel like those scenes are rushed or missing. We are just being quickly told what happened but not really experiencing it. I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say in some instances, I felt like I was at point B without ever having been at point A. I realize these events were detailed in the first three books of the series, but It's been quite a while since I read them and my memory is fuzzy on some things. I will say this book is a good companion to the original Trouble books which focused on Sabrina and Rob but I definitely feel you need to read the whole series to appreciate it properly.
Another great book of Katie and Tyler's love story. They are finally back together again and living together in California. Trouble finished their European tour and Katie and Tyler talked all the time and skyped every night. Now that they are back together again and more in love, things are going to take work and nothing worth anything will be easy. More secrets are revealed and they both have to live with mistakes they made and things that happened.
Katie hasn't always been Ms. Responsible or Ms. Perfect. She's lived her life and made some mistakes but she's never done anything intentionally to hurt anyone. She has a good heart and she cares about the people in her life. Her love for Tyler is all encompassing and she just wants to make him happy.
Tyler has a really screwed up past and he's had problems for years of trying to get past it all. He's done so many drugs and almost died on many occasions. But his love for Katie makes him want to be clean and have a life with her. He's trying to find a way to work where his problems with his hands don't interfere.
Definitely worth reading and looking forward to more of their story that comes out in January.
Emme Rollins brings back Tyler and Katie and this time around they are stronger than ever! I love how the author stays true to the character's personalities and shows the depth of their growth. I couldn't wait to find out what happens between these two. Things get intense, secrets are revealed and Tyler and Katie's love is something fierce.
I liked the story overall however I can only give 3.5 stars as I felt that there was so much crammed into this and it felt rushed. There were parts in the story where I would've liked to hear more about so I can follow the story better and/or get a gist of where the character's emotional state was. Don't get me wrong, it was a great story and Ms. Rollins has a talent to bring the emotions of the story to life. However, I just would've enjoyed it more had it been at a slower pace.
Again, do one-click....it was a great story and I will be looking out for the next book!!
This is the second book about Tyler and Katie’s Story. This story fallows Tyler and Katie after Trouble’ European Tour and after rehab. Secrets about Tyler’s past as a child are revealed to Katie, but Katie isn’t allowed to tell anybody that she knows about them. We get to meet Tyler’s mother and find out some of the reasons that she did the things that she did. Katie has to learn to deal with her mistakes without overdosing and same goes for Tyler. We find out who Tyler’s father really is. Rob and Sabrina go through some rough times, and made me cry again. Emme Rollins definitely knows how to engage all of my emotions with her writing. I laughed, I cried, I loved Tyler and Katie, I cheered for them, and I loved their passion for each other. Their chemistry was very hot. I would definitely recommend this book and the other Trouble books. They are all very good reads. I received this free book in exchange for an honest review.
Katie and Tyler are fighters. They are coming out of rehab individually and learning how to build a relationship without drugs. There are many struggles as they work to find the trust and balance to have a healthy relationship as well as maintaining their individual life balance. Tyler is also facing the challenge of his medical condition, how much longer will he be able to play the guitar? Tyler opens up about his childhood and reveals all of his secrets to Katie which is shocking. Of course, life can’t be idyllic for them as these secrets surface causing more drama on their journey. Both of them face situations which push them past their limits, will they be able to recover and forgive themselves? Their journey incorporates Rob, Sabrina and Sarah allowing us to see what is happening in their lives while we experience Katie and Tyler’s love. I was given a copy for an honest review.
Katie and Tyler have been working on their relationship apart from each other. They had both just gotten out of rehab when Tyler and the rest of the band were going to be starting their European leg of their tour. Katie listened to Sarah about going. It killed Katie but she realized it was for the best. Now she is moving to California to be with Tyler permanently. But what she learns from Tyler push her away ?
Tyler has secrets and demons. These are dark parts that keep Tyler haunted. When he tells Katie some of them he feels a little better but then things start to take some twist that put Katie's and Tyler's recovery in jeopardy. First it is Katie and what happenes to Sabrina the Tyler and seeing someone from his past. Will they be able to find their way past their demons and find happiness.
I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway in return for my honest opinion. Well here goes...
This is the first book that I have read so far by Emme Rollins. I liked this one a lot and I can’t wait to see what her other books are like. Once I began reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. To me it was well written and I enjoyed the story line along with the characters. Tyler was wrapping up his tour when Katie moved to LA to be with him. This couple has been through a lot of trial and tribulations over the course of their relationship which is relatable in some many ways. Emme is good about keeping the storyline going throughout the book in order to keep you on your toes until the very end. I hope everyone can enjoy this book as much as I did.
There was just nothing that gripped me to this story. Usually I'm a book a day/every two days, I just usually can't put it down, but this one, I fell asleep reading most nights - which I never do.
It follows on from Tyler and Katie getting clean, Tyler is out of rehab and Katie moving into the mansion.
Wow! If I could give this book a 6 out of 5, I would. It will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, but this is a ride that you will want to be on. This book has lots of secrets that includes addiction, child prostitution, physical abuse, rheumatoid arthritis, murder, and the foster system. The book just keeps getting better as you read, and the ending is wonderful. Phenomenal writing, Emme Rollins! She does such a great job making you feel like you are part of the story, and you feel every emotion that the characters have. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is a must read.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Emme Rollins. This is book 2 of Tyler and Katie's Story by the author.
Tyler Cook is the guitarist for the rock group Trouble and he lives up to the bands name for Katie. But when he gets straightened out Katie can't let go of him. Katie set her sights on Tyler because her best friend went after the lead singer. Things take a turn and start spiraling out of control Katie needs to decide if being with Tyler is worth it or not.
The flow of the story was amazing and the character interactions was so riveting through out the whole book. I had a hard time putting it down because it was so good.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a gritty, emotional story of rockstar Tyler and his girlfriend, Katie, who face a lot of issues together. Including recovering from a shared heroin addiction. The price of fame and fortune is steep, and Tyler and Katie both have their demons to deal with.
Overall I enjoyed the story and liked Tyler and Katie, but there were times when they were very frustrating to me. This isn't a lighthearted, cute story, but if you're looking for a story with darker themes, then you should give it a try.
Great story! Tyler & Katie have a chaotic life but their love for one another never falters. They both have their share of obstacles to deal with. When she wants to give up, he is her strength and when he gives up she finds the strength to try to help him get his life back on the right path. Though their separation, revealed secrets & fear of drug relapse test the relationship, they realize money doesn't mean happiness or a perfect relationship but that their unconditional love is the glue that holds this rollercoaster ride called 'living life" together. This one really touched my heart!
I received an ARC for my honest review. Once again I am blown away with this series! Katie and Tyler have been through so much. This book picks up after she left him so they could both get help for their drug addictions. Now they are together and you think everything is good. But Tyler can't get away from his past and it is sucking them both in. Katie blames herself and Tyler believes his past is why he can't have a future. This book is tragic, sweet, heart breaking and happy all rolled into one great story.
