Shira Anthony is a complete sucker for a happily-ever-after, and rarely reads or writes a story without one. Never a fan of instalove, Shira likes to write stories about real men with real issues making real relationships work.

In her last incarnation, Shira was a professional opera singer, performing roles in such operas as “Tosca,” “Pagliacci,” and “La Traviata,” among others. Her Blue Notes Series is loosely based upon her own experiences as a professional musician.

Shira is married with two children and two insane dogs and when she’s not writing, she is usually in a courtroom trying to make the world safer for children. When she’s not working, she can be found aboard a 36’ catamaran at the Carolina coast with her favorite sexy captain at the wheel. She’s given up TV for evenings spent with her laptop, and she never goes anywhere without a pile of unread M/M romance on her Kindle.

YAY, after what felt like forever, I finally got to finish this series!

And "Blood and Eternity" was very aptly named, because it truly felt like an eternity that I'd been waiting for this third and final book. ;- )

(Sorry, Shira, you know I love you, gurl! *mwah* hehe)

As this book began, Adrien had been given a choice. Remain in the future with Nico, after searching for him for over a century, and Pelletier would leave them alone to live their lives.

Or leave Nicolas behind, jump back into the past, and continue the fight.

Except Pelletier knew that the deaths of almost everyone Adrien loved would weigh heavily on him, if he stayed, essentially sacrificing their lives for his own happiness.

However, what Pelletier didn't count on was one itty bitty twist in the "leaving Nico behind" scenario that he'd banked on. I absolutely loved where Shira took the story in that respect.

This story was both fun and fast-paced, so I couldn't have put the book down, even if I'd wanted to. And I didn't.

I absolutely loved revisiting all of the characters from the first two books, including the ones that had died, because duh, time travel.

Also, traveling back to the very beginning and meeting Nicolas' parents and brother, who Pelletier had murdered on the day Nicolas was born, WOW, that was even better than I'd hoped for. The trust and familial bonds there left me pretty speechless.

This story was much more about those ties between family and friends than fighting the bad guys and the host of evil things born of stolen vampire blood.

Yes, those action scenes were fairly exciting (though not as much so as in the first book), but it was the one-on-one scenes between the various characters, especially Adrien and Nicolas, that I'll remember for some time to come.

If I'm being honest, the villains seemed fairly easy to kill here, even if you might have to kill them a couple of times for it to fully stick. Again, because... time travel. ;- )

I did worry that once the last bad guy was offed, erasing a *lot* of the events that led to Adrien meeting Nicolas and falling in love, what would happen to them after that?

I needn't have worried, as Shira gave the reader the HEA that was needed -- even if Nicholas did have to wait a damn long time for it to come to fruition. But much like the series, in the end, it was all worth it.

I'd rate this one at around 4.25 stars and give the green light to anyone waiting for the series to be complete before starting these books.

In this final Blood series book, Adrien Gilbert continues to gain control of the demon within himself and the ability to manipulate time. Together with Nicolas Lambert (Rousseau), he battles the vampire hunters led by Pelletier who seek to destroy the Council of Hunters.

Pelletier enlists some frightening help in his crusade--horrible creatures created through vampire blood who respond to his commands. The fight is a distraction from Pelletier's true motive: to force Adrien to grow strong enough to fight him one on one. But what choice does Adrien have but to fight to save the vampires and hunters he loves?

What will become of the Council of Hunters? Will Adrien be able to return to his own timeline and reunite with the Nicolas he lost at the ill-fated wedding? And will Adrien lose to his inner demon, or will he grow strong enough to finally win against the seemingly unbeatable Pelletier?

I hope you'll enjoy the final installment in the series. Together, Adrien and Nicolas are far stronger, and with a little help from their friends, maybe this time Pelletier won't be able to take away their chance at happiness!

NEWS FLASH: A special thank you for Blood Series readers is now up on my website! "The Price of Blood," is a previously unpublished scene from the Blood Series that didn't make it into the trilogy, but tells the story of how Charles Duvalier became a vampire. No spoilers for Blood Series books, so no matter where you are reading the trilogy, you'll be safe! Happy reading! https://shiraanthony.com/blood-series...

ARC provided by the publisher through Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words in exchange for an impartial review.

This series requires focus, focus, focus. And a recap of the first two books. Fortunately, the author not only provides a cast of characters, she also provides the recap. Thank you, Ms. Anthony!

A sweeping, epic saga, worthy of the big screen, this is the story of Adrien Gilbert, a Hunter, and the love of his life—all of his lives!—Nicholas/Nico Lambert.

The villainous cast of characters is headed by Verel Pelletier, Adrien and Nicholas’s archenemy, the man behind all the complexity, intrigue, murder and mayhem spanning centuries. Adrien’s “demon,” the alter-ego voice in his head, is present throughout the story. And we finally see Adrien come to terms with the demon, master it, and use it to help him and Nico alter the course of multiple lives by going back in time to prevent the original disaster from happening.

The author follows the threads of the time streams introduced in the previous books to entice us with possibilities of what would happen if… But the reality becomes something different as the men land in 2018 and both are experiencing partial memories of the times before—despite the seeming impossibility of that happening.

It’s a definite brain-teaser, for sure. I must admit I struggled to stay on track for the early part of the story, especially since it’s been three years since the last book was released. With the author’s help by throwing out key tidbits to jog our memory and by having the explanations in the forward of the book, I slowly started to get re-involved with these men. I must say, of all the timelines and characters covered, I was most intrigued by the 2018 versions of Nico and Adrien and by their selfless devotion to risk all they had to right the wrongs set in motion by Pelletier, even if it meant they might not be together by the time their previous souls reached 2018.

As I said early in the review, focus is the key. By the end of the book, that’s not as much of an issue because at that point I was so focused on the action that I let all else in my life fall by the wayside—the hallmark of an outstanding book, in my opinion.

Those who love an epic romance, vampires, immortals, and more will likely fall as much in love with this series as I have. I very highly recommend this book and the whole series to all lovers of MM romance. And now that all three books are out, I definitely recommend sticking to short timeframes between each story. That will most definitely be a huge aid to following this saga.

I have been waiting for this book for forever! I think i aged ten years! (Just teasing lol) This book was worth every minute of waiting. I will tell you, you absolutely need to read the first two before this one. This is not a standalone. Even though the author gives us a recap, it doesn't hurt to reread them either. Also, it has a lot of 'timestreams’, so you need to be able to keep up with info. I won't lie, I had to reread a few passages a couple of times. But I loved this book and this series.

Adrian has been searching for Nicholas for over a century and he's about given up hope. He's scared to death of what he will find, especially with the visions he keeps having. But Nicholas is his life and he will not give up. Pelletier and the demon inside him keep slipping him through timestreams and just when he thinks he's figured one out, he is shifted again. He has to learn to get control over himself and his demon along with the help of future Nicholas to defeat Pelletier and his minions once and for all. But he doesn't know if he can do it before it's too late for good.

This book was haaaard to read. I have been on this trip with these two from minute one and it has been a roller coaster ride. Adrian went from hating vampires, being the vampire Hunter he is, to being in love with one of the most beautiful vampires ever. At least in his eyes. Nicholas is gorgeous. Nicholas went from thinking he was one person to discovering he was someone else. Their lives together has been hell since day one. Even before they were born. They just wanted to live their lives together and be happy. Is that so wrong? Apparently so. For most, no. But of course, there has to be some soul sucking leech of a douche who is greedy as hell and has to ruin everything in his search for power. *Sigh* poor guys. There's always one. But it makes for one hell of a read. I love these two. Through everything they go through in this series, especially this book, they don't give up. And they go through A LOT. But they are each other's half. They can't stop. Even if they weren't, they refuse to stop and let innocent people suffer for one man's greed.

It's an amazing story. An amazing series and I'm sad to see it over. I think the only problem I had with the book was the ending. I was kinda confused. But I can't tell you or I will give it away lol. I do recommend this book and this series. Great, great reads.

“Love is space and time measured by the heart.” ~ Marcel Proust

In ‘Blood and Eternity’ by Shira Anthony, Adrien asks himself what he is willing to sacrifice to be with Nickolas, the man he loves more than life itself. Once again he's shifted into another time line, one in which he has Nico (Nickolas) with him again, but Adrien knows that as much as he wants that, he's not sure he can give up his quest to correct the original timeline to right the wrongs caused by his and others’ actions.

Waking up with Nico is more than wonderful, but Adrien is not content. Nothing is familiar to him in this place in time and he soon realizes why; he shouldn't be here. He's in Nico's timeline, not his. Adrien also realizes that his arch enemy, Pelletier, has found him again and sends Adrien a message that if Adrien stops his quest to change the past, that he will leave him and his “little vampire” alone – but Adrien's conscience will not let him do that. With regret, Adrien tells his demon to send him back into the past to continue his quest to defeat his enemy, except this time is different, Nico comes with him. Nico tells Adrien in no uncertain terms that they do it together or not at all. Adrien is both thrilled and terrified at this development. The demon inside is still trying to control Adrien, but Adrien, although it's an excruciating process, is slowly learning to control it and to be able to call upon its strength at will, rather than being at its mercy.

In this timeline, Adrien and Nico go back to what is left of Lambert mansion where they run into Jean Lambert. He's startled to see Nico and Adrien there and demands an explanation. What words can't explain, Nico's blood makes perfectly clear. By this time, Pelletier has become aware that Adrien hasn't accepted his offer to stop “interfering” by continuing to set the past right, and prepares to strike once again. In doing so, they become embroiled in a life-or-death struggle to protect the last of the vampires who were not slaughtered due to Pelletier's perversion of the truth, which resulted in splitting the hard-won alliance between vampires and hunters, causing the death of many innocent people, hunters, and vampires alike. Pelletier is considered a hero for his actions, revered by the hunters and considers the vampires who have survived the massacre mortal enemies. Adrien and Nico join forces with what's left of the ancient vampires. They are surrounded by enemies who were partially created from Nicolas's blood, no longer men but abominations, linked by blood to their master, Pelletier. If they don't win this battle, Adrien may not have another chance to set things right and spend an eternity with Nico.

Bringing together several timelines involving different results for several characters is quite a feat, but Shira has done it. As complicated as time travel can be, at least I understood Adrien's goal of trying to correct the past. Therefore, he kept going back in order to learn lessons necessary to achieve his objective. Adrian's love, passion, and desire to be with Nico for eternity was a gigantic motivating factor. Their love is a beautiful thing. Thanks, Shira, for a great ending to a complex yet exciting story.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

From that review: " I always find it so hard to return to a series when it's been a while since the last story.  In this  case, Blood and Ghosts, was released in 2015, and I've read a ton of books since then, including many by this author.  Another factor here?  Shira Anthony's overall arc for her characters and plot for the trilogy.  Labyrinthine barely covers it.  It involves multiple time times, different eras, alternate universes even for these characters lives, yes time travel that continually changes both the people, the relationships, warping both past, future and present around all involved.  It ended on a cliffhanger of sorts.

Yes, the mind boggled even as the author kept us heavily invested in the outcome for not only the main characters but many of those also in close support."

3 books in the series all focusing on the same MC's. Interesting story line(s) that make reading all 3 books a must, none are really stand-alone.

I did not connect with Adrien as much as I did Nicolas and would like to have seen him play even more of a role in some of the story line(s) possible.

This is the third and final book in the Blood series. I was so excited about this book because I needed these guys to win. From book one there has been so much heartache, and the characters have faced so much adversity. The plot has remained fast-paced and extremely entertaining. The author has done an amazing job keeping me on my toes. I can never predict what’s going to happen next. She created this world where I finally start to get comfortable and then flips it upside down. Paranormal is never an easy genre to write especially when creating your own worlds, but Anthony does a flawless job. Throw in her incredible ability to add in some time travel, and I’m beyond impressed.

Adrien is an extremely complex character. Throughout the series, he has grown so much as a character. He started as a boy losing his mother and holding the entire vampire race responsible for falling in love with a vampire elder. In book three, Adrien has these incredible powers that he just needs to trust himself enough to reach their true potential. Time travel is a big part of this book. He has to go back to right the wrongs not only caused by him but also caused by his enemy vampire hunter Verel Pelletier. And of course that’s not enough for this fantastical author! She has to throw in Adrien’s inner demon as well. Every hunter has an inner demon that possesses the hunter’s true power. Adrien can either control it or kill it. Either way, he’s got a fight on his hands. He has to fight his inner demon, fight to save Nicolas and the entire vampire race, and of course he must fight the ever-powerful vampire hunter Pelletier. He’s got quite the full plate.
Nicolas is sort of a background character throughout these books. He’s not quite a main character, and he’s not quite a secondary character. He just kind of hangs in the shadows.

After book one, we really don’t see much of him the way we knew him in book one. He’s always changing and evolving as the hunters, including his love, constantly change up the storyline. As soon as we think this is it, this is where Nicolas comes out and kicks butt, he’s thrown to the sidelines. I always wanted more from him. He’s supposed to be this insanely powerful vampire, but he’s never really allowed to shine. Not my favorite main character. He definitely brought the heat when things got horizontal between him and Adrien, and I loved his loyalty and humble nature. I just wanted more of his badass vampire side as well. He was a little too submissive.

I highly recommend this series. There are not a lot of vampire romances in the MM genre so to find one this page-turning is obviously rare. I would not recommend reading these books as a standalone. They should really be read in order. Book one is very mind-numbing at times only because there is so much information being thrown out. Just don’t give up because it will all make sense as you make your way through the series. Book two is very fast-paced, and with it having time travel and flashbacks, you must pay attention or you’ll get lost in the pages.
Book three was incredible. Anthony did a fabulous job piecing everything together and I left the series extremely satisfied. The plot and characters are one of a kind, and I will definitely be adding this to my must reread list.

This is – at long last – the ending we’ve been waiting for.

Can I say it was worth it? I’m not sure. I love Shira’s world building, her characters and I usually love her plot devices as well as story lines but in this case there was so much WORK involved. I felt like book two put me through the wringer and though we get put back together again in book 3 it was maybe not quite as “rewarding” as I’d have wanted it to be.

So – in summary – I guess if you’re a lover of action and adventure – with some time travel and a lot of angst – very well written angst mind you – I’d give this a go.

If you want a lot of togetherness in a couple then this is not for you.

All in all I’d give this book a 3.5 and the whole series a 3 of 5 stars.
