Cadence #2
Diverging Cadence
When Cadence Anderson woke to find her husband and infant daughter had been killed, she thought her life was over. Instead, she was offered a second chance and sent back in time to do it all again.
She’s made the most of this opportunity, repairing her relationship with the best friend she lost the first time, avoiding the romantic mistakes she made originally, and even bringing her family closer together. But she’s also done something she wasn’t planning on—she’s fallen in love with someone other than her future husband.
Stepping onto a plane and flying across country to attend university is the hardest decision she’s had to make. But unless she follows through with it, her future with Austin might never happen. And what becomes of her beautiful baby if she stays with James, the man she was never supposed to love?
The only thing she knows for certain is that she has to see Austin again, and she’s intent on reliving that part of her previous life exactly like she did the first time. Even if that means she has to lie to James to do it. Because, deep down, she can’t quite bring herself to let him go.
Now, past and future are about to collide, and Cadence has to make her final choice—follow the uncertain path of a life with James, or the one she came back to save . . . with Austin.

“Regrets begin the moment we're comfortable with settling.”
----Andrena Sawyer
Katie Hamstead, an Australian author, has penned a heart wrenching tale of love and second chances in her book, Diverging Cadence which is the second book in the Cadence series. This book unfolds the story of a woman who lost her family in an earthquake, following which she gets an opportunity to go back in time in her high school days and make amends for her lost family, thereby falling in love with a guy who is not her late husband, thus forcing her to choose between second chance at love and her lost family.
Synopsis:

Now, past and future are about to collide, and Cadence has to make her final choice—follow the uncertain path of a life with James, or the one she came back to save . . . with Austin.
In this book, Cadence goes to college where she meets her future husband, Austin, who is dead in the present time. Leaving James back in her hometown, to go with the flow, as her already played out future life had been. Cadence has to forget James no matter what as she got only one opportunity to go back in the past and relive her days once again with her dead husband and child.
In the previous book, the author made the readers root for James and Cadence, and similarly, in this book too, the author forces her readers to make a hard choice to choose Austin over James and forget about their sweet relationship. The love will not only overwhelm the hearts of the readers but will also shatter their hearts into million pieces.
In short, I'd like to confess that the author did an apt and perfect justice to Cadence's story whose heart is torn between James and Austin. The emotional turmoil present in the story will keep the readers glued till the very last page. The writing style of the author is fantastic, layered with enough evocative emotions that has power to move the readers. The narrative style is articulate and free-flowing and unlike the previous book, the book has quite a fast pace.
The characters are another aspect which makes the book deeply moving as well as entertaining. From the main characters to the supporting to the characters who are present in the story even just for a moment, the demeanor of all of them are highly inspired with realism. Moreover, the main characters, Cadence, Austin and James, grow a lot in this story and with each their each step towards growth, they become more like-able. And in the previous book, the readers fell hard for James' character, likewise, this book will make the readers fall for Austin's character.
In a nutshell, this is by far one of the best contemporary romance book that I read in a while, where not only the setting is perfect but the emotions fall perfectly in the gaps of the story line.
Verdict: A must read contemporary romance series.

My review from book 1:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Between finishing book 1 and before starting book 2 my feelings were all over the place. I wanted to read book 2 but equally I didn’t want to read it because I loved James.
In the end I took a leap and started reading it. I was quite antsy about it to be honest.
This is a very emotional book and I strongly suggest that you don’t read it in public. I thought that I wouldn’t like Austin and Cadence as a couple but they were great together. I know that it was confusing for Cadence to love two people equally and at one point in my life I was in the same position. Long story and completely off topic here.
To relive the memories with Austin and to know the outcome is pretty tough to deal with. I’m not a fan of cheating and Cadence clearly cheated on James. I got the ending that I thought I would get so all in all I’m happy enough. I give this book 3.5 stars.

Diverging Cadence is the second book and conclusion to the Cadence Series by author Katie Hamstead. I absolutely loved the first book, Deceptive Cadence but will honestly admit that I was both excited and terrified to read its conclusion! At the end of the first book I had such mixed feelings on where I wanted Hamstead to take the story and how I wanted it all to end. Who should Cadence end up with? I was so swept up in the romance between her and James that throughout the majority of the first novel I was absolutely settled that I wanted her to choose him. But then I’d think back to the beginning, her absolute heartbreak over the loss of her husband and daughter and I’d wonder how could any mother honestly choose her current love over the future child she’s already loved and lost but now has a chance to get back? See, I just couldn’t decide who I thought Cadence should choose and therefore couldn’t see how Hamstead would make it all work in a truly satisfying and realistic way. Thankfully, it became clear that Hamstead did indeed have a plan from the beginning. There were several directions she could have taken the story and in the end I was both happy and satisfied with the path she chose!
Diverging Cadence is of course the second half of Cadence’s story which spans her journey into adult life as she heads off to college to discover if she should continue on with the life she came back to save or perhaps forge a new path with the man she’s now in love with. At the end of book one I wanted desperately for Cadence to choose James and my heart broke for him as he was left wondering why she wanted to leave at all. But then, once Austin was introduced in book two I fell just as in love with him and became even more confused and panicked over what Cadence would do. I loved all three of these characters; they were just so beautifully flawed and real, each one crawled their way into my heart and it will be a very long time before I can let them go!
I devoured this book in just over a day; I couldn’t bring myself to put it down until I figured out how it would all end. If I could have done anything differently it would have been to read these books back to back, luckily we didn’t have too long to wait in between! I actually went back and re-read the last few chapters of Deceptive Cadence to put myself in the proper emotional state and to reconnect with the story before starting Diverging Cadence. It worked too because I was an emotional wreck throughout book two and cried many, many times! In the hands of a lesser author this story could have really fallen apart or fallen flat but Hamstead expertly weaved a conclusion that was torturous and heartbreaking yet perfect, absolutely perfect!
I would highly, highly recommend both Deceptive Cadence and Diverging Cadence for anyone who loves a heart wrenching, new adult romance. But more than that, this is a truly original story and like nothing I’ve ever read before. Cadence’s story will make you think; about karma, about our choices, and about all the “what if’s” in our lives. A perfect choice for Book Clubs, I cannot recommend these enough so please, just stop what you’re doing and go read these books, like right now!!
Once again, thank you so much to author, Katie Hamstead for providing me with a complimentary, advanced copy of her this book in exchange for my honest review. And a special thank you to Tiffany at REUTS Publishing for putting on an amazing Blog Tour!

This was a very enjoyable sequel to the first book Deceptive Cadence.
Once again, I was completely engaged in the storyline, following Cadence through her emotional turmoil of loving two men in her life and having to choose only one. And once again, this book is full of happiness, sadness, inspiration, loss, heartbreak, romance and drama.
I felt there was a little predictability with the plot but there was also a huge twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.
I love the author’s writing, it’s easy to read and easily portrays the emotions of the characters so you can feel what they are experiencing. I also thought this book had a lot more going on and was faster paced than the first book.
I enjoyed all the characters, although I do feel that the reactions of Cadence’s father are over the top like in the first book.
I also felt both these books have quite a lot of realism in them, except in this one, I thought the confrontations by Cadence’s friends and family over her relationships with Austin and James was a bit odd. I couldn’t see these things actually happening in real life, certainly not in my circle of friends and family, but perhaps this sort of thing does go on in other families.
Aside from these little things, both Deceptive Cadence and Diverging Cadence are books that are well written and have an interesting storyline and are compelling reading. If you’re looking for some Australian New Adult contemporary romance with a unique twist, I recommend you give these books a go.

Review
‘Diverging Cadence’ is the last novel in the 'Cadence' duology and one I couldn't be happier to read. After the great FIVE STAR first novel 'Deceptive Cadence' I had high hopes and great expectations for this sequel. I am so EXTREMELY glad that the author chose to do a duology; I don’t know how I would have survived if she didn’t.
'Diverging Cadence' starts right where 'Deceptive Cadence' left off. Cadence is really conflicted in this novel. She loves James, who has dominated her life and with whom a future is uncertain, but her hearts still remembers Austin, who offers her the life as lost and the one she has travelled back in time for to rebuild. But as she falls deeper and deeper in love with James and starts to seriously consider marrying him, she has to make a big choice: Stay with James and risk losing Melody, her beautiful daughter, or wait for Austin and never risk losing her.
This time round reading from Cadence's perspective was not so strange or weird for me. She had grown up and was older so I felt more comfortable reading from her perspective and about her romantic life. I remember being slightly weirded out because I felt that the stuff that Cadence did in her first novel from the age 14 and onwards was slightly too mature for her. It all even out in the end, and I was left happy.
Plot progression was just...WOW! The author created such an enchanting story and planned out everything to the detail. I felt like there were no loose ends when I finished reading and literally DESPAIRED with its conclusion. This series completely enchanted me and I grieved its ending. There were also so many surprises in this novel that reading it was no bore. There seemed to be a twist and turn at every corner of the novel. A big, MASSIVE secret about an identity of a character was revealed and I laughed out loud with joy and then wiped away a tear when I found out who it was. The thing was I NEVER suspected. Seriously, the author is like the mastermind of hiding secrets in plain sight!
Katie Hamstead is an evil woman and author. She left me wondering who Cadence was going to end up with for sooooo long! I was left on the edge of my seat wondering like CRAZY and I could NOT put the book down until I finished it. There was a constant dramatic suspense that lingered all the way from the beginning of the novel till the end. I COULDN'T COPE WITH IT! ARGHHHHHH! It was either James or Austin, Austin or James. And then all of a sudden the author would lean the character towards one and I would KNOW but then...she CHANGES HER MIND! I think I pulled all my hair out trying to figure out who it was going to be and going absolutely NUTS in the process! Seriously, this woman could write one epic crime/thriller novel if she wished. Pray that she doesn't because I swear to you, you will not live sanely until the end!
Katie Hamstead was also a master manipulator and conveyor of emotions. There were so many times I looked like a total weirdo grinning at my kindle app when something sweet/romantic/hilarious would happen. There were also many times that I would tear up whenever Cadence would cry or something tragic/emotionally touching would happen to her. I felt her conflict between choosing James or Austin as if I was trying to choose myself! Seriously, this author is like...a writer genius or something!
One thing that upsets me about this series are their covers. I feel like the covers aren't deserving of these novels! Though they do perfectly capture the essence and atmosphere of both novels, I feel like they could have been more.
The grammar was outstanding and there were no spelling or typing errors that I could spot. I have to commend the author for her great prose as it made the novel so much better!
Congratulations to Katie Hamstead on publishing a spell-binding sequel in the ‘Cadence’ duology! I can’t wait for more of your writing!

**An electronic copy of the book was provided by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**
Before Reading: I was dying to get my hands on this book, so when I saw it was available on Netgalley I immediately requested. Then I spent days obsessively checking my library to see if my request was approved. The moment it showed up I dropped everything just to read it.
My Thoughts:
Diverging Cadence, book 2 in the Cadence series, takes us right back to where it all ended in Deceptive Cadence. Therefore, you must read the first book in order to understand anything that is taking place. Having said that I'll try my best to write a spoiler-free review.
As much as I loved the first book, I'm kind of stuck between two different ratings for Diverging Cadence. Let me explain. First of all I loved the book, however, I did not like Cadence and I have the hardest time trying to understand her behavior throughout the whole book.
Ultimately I think what I LOVED most about this series was James. He's officially on my list for one of my favorite book boyfriends. James was beyond amazing and patient, more than any other hero I've read before. It makes me want a James of my own.
Overall I really enjoyed the book as well as the series. If you're looking for a contemporary read with a paranormal twist, then I would suggest checking out this series!

Diverging Cadence, Cadence 2, Katie Hamstead
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: Romance, New Adult
I loved the first book, but was gutted that it was a two part instalment. I HATE waiting for sequels, find I lose the momentum. I had to reread the last few chapters of that one before starting this just to remember where we left Cadence and what was happening. Its not that long ago I read it but I read a lot...
So Cadence is off to W. Australia, other side of the country where she met Austin the first time round. James hates that she’s so far away and feels he’s scared her off by asking her to marry him. He’s such a lovely man, been through so much to be with her and I so felt for him. Poor Cadence too – its not as if she can explain. All her family and friends are mystified at her decision, and its so tough for her to try to justify her reasons to them, but she feels she has to go, she has to meet Austin again.
She misses James terribly, and he’s so unhappy she wonders if she’s doing the right thing. But if she doesn’t then what about Austin, her first love and Melody, their daughter? They deserve a chance to live. Then she meets Austin and just as before falls in love. She’s so torn and to be honest I was angry with her at times, unfairly of course as she didn’t chose to be in this position, but it just seemed the way she’d gone this time round someone was going to get hurt with both James and Austin in love with her. The middle section where she has to lie to both is really gut wrenching, and that’s where I felt so angry at her. I can’t think of what else she could do though, she didn’t set out to cheat but has been forced into a position where she’s in love with two amazing men, and underneath she’s loyal to both though it doesn’t seem like it. Of course she can’t keep that secret forever and it causes some huge blowouts from family and friends.
Its an incredibly emotional read, and I just couldn’t see how on earth Katie could resolve it without someone getting totally broken. Even Cadence wasn’t without risk, whichever she chose she’d know that choice was responsible for the other one being heartbroken, and the consequences that could bring. and she truly loves them both. She knows what happened the first time though, and all this has been at an attempt to stop the events of that time round, but things keep changing and what seemed so simple when she started has become incredibly complex. She’s making decisions but so are others and they affect her choices too....
I shouldn’t have worried though, Katie does a superb finish, giving me the ending I needed but dared not hope for. There’s some surprises coming, things play out in a way I’d never imagined! These two books are a story I’d recommend for anyone who loves an angsty read, full of emotion, real people, issues lots of us face ( though without Cadence’s extra knowledge!) and a perfect, satisfying ending. Definitely one I’ll re read, and I know going straight through the two books will work far better for me than reading in separate parts.
Stars: Five, an amazing, satisfying and surprising conclusion

Like I mentioned in the review of the first book, I'm going to be so random and all over the place with these reviews. I just cannot even handle all the thoughts running through my head. This story is so original.
This book was everything. I'm not even kidding. I feel the pace was a bit faster and I know that some people were upset because she was back and forth so many times but really, what would you do? She's completely in love with BOTH men. How is that a choice to be taken lightly? I absolutely believe that there is more than just one person that can make you unbelievably happy and we get to see it here.
We start when she's landing at her college that's across the country from everyone she knows and loves. I commend that she made the choice to take the hard road and actually continue on the path because it was the whole point of the second chance. We get to see how tough and strenuous the long distance relationship is for her and James. The whole time, she knows she's going to eventually meet Austin but she just can't let James go. I don't blame her, he's amazing. We had a whole book (first one) to fall completely in love with James. In this second book, we get to do the same with Austin. I admit, it's not as much as a whole book but at least we get a sense of why she loved him so much. We then go through the agonizing events that lead up to her choice. I wont lie, I was so tempted to just look up the ending and see who she would choose. I had no idea and I really couldn't stand the heartbreak of either guy.
This book is a lot more fast paced and we get a lot more character development from everyone. I mean it takes talent to be able to keep tabs on so many supporting characters in a natural and unforced way. I will admit that the ending of this book was wrapped up rather quickly. I was half way through this book wondering how she was going to get through the rest of this story, so quickly.
The last 1/3 of the book, I was a mess. This book tore my heart open and had it spilling all over my face (tears). The twists and turns of this story are fabulous and I promise you will not be disappointed. Hamstead did a marvelous job with these characters and the way you just feel everything they are going through. Cadence is a tough cookie because I honestly don't know what I could have done. The way these characters grow and develop in this book is just amazing. I honestly have not read a book/duology this good in quite a while.
In recap, great duology and I highly, highly recommend it. Make sure you have both books on hand because you will not want to stop. You will need to know what happens. You will also give your husband and loved ones extra hugs and cuddles. It really makes you appreciate what you have. Tomorrow is never promised, so always remember to treat every day like it is your last. I will definitely be reading the next thing Katie Hamstead comes out with!
I would like to thank Katie Hamstead and YA Bound Book Tours for providing copies of these ebooks for review. Receiving them free, has not influenced my thoughts and opinions, they are my own.

Diverging Cadence picks up where Deceptive Cadence leaves off, but not in typical sequel fashion, where you’re quickly brought up to speed even if you missed the first book. No, to truly experience the emotional roller coaster that is this series, you have to read both, and preferably back to back. Together, the duo create a traditional narrative arc, with Diverging Cadence being the latter, more appropriately tense, climatic portion. And trust me, the emotional pay-off of reading the series in its entirety is well worth the investment of time.
The second half of Cadence’s journey encompasses her adult life — attending college, finding independence, marriage — but is fraught with turmoil unique to her slightly supernatural circumstance. Namely, her decision between forging a new path and reclaiming the life she returned for. Unlike other love triangles, the relationship drama rings with more than a shred of truth, as Cadence wrestles between letting go of the comfortable (her relationship with James) and exploring the promise of her life with Austin. Hamstead expertly crafts a scenario that is heartbreaking, torturous, often maddening, and ultimately human. Cadence is allowed to make mistakes, to make the wrong choice, and the consequences of that speak volumes.
I won’t lie, there were many times that I felt uncomfortable with the choices Cadence made, and there were quite a lot of tears shed during the last third of the book, when we’re finally shown the horrific earthquake scene in real time, but the final resolution more than made up for all the heartbreak. It’s poignant, beautiful, and exactly what I wanted as a reader. Hamstead will rip your heart out before you get there, but that makes the ultimate satisfaction all the more powerful.
With beautifully simplistic prose, Hamstead captures a cast of characters who feel entirely real by the end. Flawed, human, and brilliant, Diverging Cadence wraps up all the threads left dangling at the end of Deceptive Cadence, providing a conclusion to a tale that will likely haunt me for years to come. If you’re looking for a light, upbeat story, this might not be for you, but if you want a thought-provoking tale that tugs on every element of your empathy, I cannot recommend this series enough. Seriously. Read it. Now.

Diverging Cadence is the sequel to Katie Hamstead's Deceptive Cadence. In this stunning conclusion, I was aboslutely thrilled. Tears were falling freely, and I was just so overwhelmed by the ending.
In Diverging Cadence, it begins where the first book left off. Cadence is starting to re-live her adult life; she's falling in love, she's going off to school. With her new circumstances, she faces new challenges. Who is she going to choose? Will she choose the path that leads to her husband and daughter, or will she choose the new life with another man?
Katie Hamstead did an excellent job on keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. She kept the story interesting, and thought provoking. The characters are still so wonderful, and the story still has it's deeper meanings.
What I really adored about these books, was how they showed how humanity and karma work. Make a mistake, and there's repercussions. That's what Cadence's re-living was. Her mistakes vs. the outcomes/the repercussions. That is how the author amazed me; through her fictional characters, she showed reality. To see the earthquake scene come to life in your mind's eye was terrifying, heart-wrenching, and oh so necessary to the story. This book was so beautiful, and I highly recommend reading Deceptive Cadence and Diverging Cadence.

Wow! This is one of those stories I wish I had thought of. :D The plot is genius. It's heartbreaking and inspiring, and weird and familiar at the same time. As a wife and mother, I identified with Cadence and believed her struggle.
My husband is my soulmate now, but were we born soulmates? If life turned out just slightly differently for me, I imagine that I could have fallen in love with someone else. Or, perhaps not. Maybe we would have taken a different road to find each other, but have found each other in the end anyway.
That's the question that I was excited to have answered in book 2. Do we have soulmates? Is life supposed to turn out a certain way? Would Cadence take a different path and still end in the same place? Or would she have a different happy ending this time?
I also loved the extra heartbreaking complication of Melody. Love triangles are common in literature, but you don't often have such an important piece of the puzzle...a yet-to-be-born child that you've already met and fallen in love with.
I started the story worried that neither option would be a perfect happy ending for Cadence, and I was right that the conclusion wouldn't come easily. However, I was very satisfied with the ending. I know that's a tough challenge--getting characters in a really impossible situation, but still finding the light at the end of the tunnel. Really well done all around.

"Diverging Cadence" is the second and final book on this magical series by Katie Hamstead! In book 1 Cadence's choices led her family and friends in different, better choices. Now, she must choose between Austin and James, the love she knows and the love she found in her second chance.
The story spans months in the college life of Cadence. She gets to change some of her choices there too and as a result she gets to know Austin earlier. There are many parts in which humor made me laugh but mostly after a point Cadence became too torn from those around her to the point of anger and tears.
I didn't like how her parents acted; to my opinion it was too harsh. James also had a little, somewhat kind of obssession which didn't work well in the long distance relationship.
But despite all the above, I was very surprised from the choice Cadence made and in what that brought her. Seriously the ending had me, crying over my tablet along with Cadence, especially towards the end.
Magical realism finally got under my skin and I wouldn'y be surprised if I devoured yet another book by this talented author!

If you read my review of “Deceptive Cadence,” the first book of this duo, you would know that I wasn’t really sold on the concept of this story at first.. but in the end, it really sucked me in. So much so that I pre-ordered this sequel and basically devoured it in 24 hours.
There was no mental hump for me to get over for enjoying this book – in fact, if you stuck with “Deceptive Cadence” and enjoyed it, it’s safe to say that you will love the conclusion. I kept thinking to myself, “This can’t possibly end well.. I don’t know where she is going to go with this.. how can this possibly end in a way that I’ll find satisfying?!” That’s not to say it wasn’t well-written; there was just a lot of conflict and back-and-forth, and this was one of only a handful of books where I just couldn’t even decide how I WANTED it to end. But it did end, and it was great.

Excellent:
- JAMES <3
- Austin - and that plot twist with him~
- Writing style was easy to read, like the previous book~! :)
- Fanfictioney feels~
Things that could have been better:
- Cadence as a character and her decisions - I didn't agree with her choices and her agonisation was annoying to read
- A really perfect ending - wrapped up too neatly for me
Rating: 4 stars

I enjoyed the first book so much, I purchased this one to see if Cadence made the right decision. She did but it took too long for her to make up her mind. Way too much running back and forth between Austin and James! I loved the "angel" in this story. But more than that Cadence's family and friends are laugh-out-loud, over the top loving and supportive. Nicely Done!

**SPOILER FREE**
And we pick up from the first book in the series... This book taking you deeper into the story. Giving you so much more. This book is well written, doesn't leave you dwindling with trying to get into it, it will captivate you right from the beginning! Can't wait to see what more this author has coming!

Book 2 of Cadence

In a weird way, the second book is much better than the first. I hate love triangles, but I was actually so torn with this one. Butttt the first book definitely made me biased over who I preferred.
Haven't actually cried this much reading a book (the second one)... Ever? Talking full on crying.

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off, with Cadence having left her family and James behind to attend college across the country where she can resume the life she had previously lost with her future husband. Cadence throws herself into college life, making the same friends she had before so her life could be what she remembered. When she meets Austin the second time, she feels just as drawn to him as she had before. But her feelings for James still exist, and she has hard choices to make.
I have a love-hate relationship with this stupid stupid book (ok, the book wasn't stupid it just made me super sad pretty much the entire length of the story). I loved that the author could drag feelings out of me and so completely engage me in this fictional story that I read in one sitting because I had to know what would happen. I hated that the emotions the book filled me with pretty much from the first few pages were anxiety and depression. I got so caught up in Cadence's roller coaster emotions and I felt despair for what I was afraid was to come. The author did a great job of reeling me in, and honestly I am very glad the book is over because I don't think I could stand that level of emotional upheaval for very long. That being said, I would love to read more from this author in the future because I was impressed with what she accomplished. But can the next book be less depressing, please?
Austin seemed like a very nice person, but I did not know him or really care for him one way or another. I was ambivalent towards him, and sped through the pages about him to get to the parts where James was involved. I was wholeheartedly in love with James. I know who he is and I was not even a little bit disappointed by what I found. The fact that Cadence even thought for one second that anyone could be better blew my mind. Sure he was demanding and a little overbearing at times, but I loved his compassion, understanding and determination to make her happy even when she rejected him time and time. James grew up to be a much better person than anyone gave him credit for.
This review will be short and sweet because this was a conclusion that had been building and I don't want to give anything away. Read these 2 books back to back like I did because it is one story just housed in 2 volumes. Be aware that you are in for a gut wrenching emotional heartbreak/ roller coaster.
I received this title from the author in return for my honest review.

I was a little hesitant once I started to read the second book. I feel in love with James from the first book and the second book focuses more on Cadence's relationship with Austin and how it began. I started to not like Cadence at all for leading on James and I was on the same page as her family and friends she should be with James. Half way through I was like if she choices Austin I am not going to be able to finish this book, but I am so glad that I finished the book and couldn't put it down towards the end.
I love the character development from the author again in this book we get to learn a lot more about Austin and what his family is like. We got to relive what Cadence felt the first time with Austin. Austin felt like a true love during the book as well, if you could get past hating Cadence for leaving James; Austin seems like a great guy. I loved that the author could create two loves for Cadence and as a reader you could like both of them. It just shows how great of a romance writer Katie is.

I feel like I don't want to spoil the ending because I think everyone should read this series it is the perfect book for those who want to go back in time and make changes with their life to see what could have actually happened. Also, it is a great book for someone torn over two loves. The book takes a surprising turn in my mind at the end. I didn't think things would end up like that, but I mean aren't romance books supposed to end up happy even if something tragic happened.
Another thing I loved was the idea of a angel that is guiding Cadence throughout her decisions and redo. I believe there are sometimes everyone wants a angel to be able to speak to and see what could have happened differently or what is something you missed in a situation. I love this concept and the author really developed the angel to have a bit of mystery in both books, while still seeming all team Cadence.

If you haven’t read the first book, this won’t make any sense.
I have to admit it took me a while to get to the second book. I didn't want to see what she chose! I wanted to read these books to see if given the chance would my choices be different? I hadn’t thought that it would be a love triangle once the second book started. This is where she meets her future husband again. I didn’t want her to meet him again. I actually had to put it down several times and do something else. I couldn’t believe that Cadence could love two people at the same time and cheat on both of them. It irked me and I wanted James to be happy.
By the time I told myself to suck it up and just read it, I found myself conflicted like Cadence and wanted James and Austin to be happy. I didn’t know how to feel. The author was very good at making you fall in love with both of them. I’m glad I wasn’t in her shoes! I didn’t know what the author would do but I couldn’t see this ending well for one of them.
What I really didn’t see coming was the twist at the end that brought me to tears. It was the perfect ending. I really didn’t think that it would be possible to have a perfect ending but it did. And that’s all I’m going to say because if you’ve read the first you have to read the second book. You might have to put it down and walk away because you may feel disgusted by Cadence or mad at the author, but you need to finish it so you can see how it ended, because it is worth it! It is a great book on love and second chances. I loved it! This is definitely a book that will be read again!!
Grab a few Kleenexes first though!

Cadence has made it through high school and now it is on to university. Which school to go to? The pull of a second chance, so many thing to correct in her in her relationships. How to know if you are doing the right thing or not?

What I loved about the first book didn't continue into the second book. I kept reading because I wanted to find out what happened at the end.
