I'm always amazed at how much sex one can fit in a book. Not that I'm complaining! Drama, love, angst, sex, more sex and a HEA. Go Davey & Tyler!

DNF the audiobook at Chapter 10. The writing, especially the conversations between MCs felt really stilted and not the way anyone I know speaks. I was ready to stop in chapter 1 when they decide to have sex almost literally after speaking 2 sentences to each other. If I didn’t have such a huge TBR I might have forced myself to keep going but I’d rather move onto a book I’ll love.

Mmmm, nice, nice story....

There is nothing I dislike about this book except maybe the guys from the other team. And if you choose to read this I'm certain you will agree. Davey and Tyler are so good together, truly in love. What can be better than finding THE person to complete your life? This story is about a motocross rider and how his skills and luck lead him to the love of his life. How that love blossomed and grew into a wonderful relationship and how Davey also grew and took off in his career.
I, personally, grew up in a bike racing family. I have 2 brothers and a nephew who competed so I especially enjoyed the racing side of the story.
As a 65 yr old grandmother I have come to love the M/M stories I've read on my Kindle. A love story is wonderful no matter the gender of the couple.
I hope you will take the time to read this sweet story. I highly recommend it and know you will too.
Thank you Lynn

DNF at 43%...just couldn't make myself read anymore and that was even with skimming ahead. I dislike leaving negative comments...but this book was just a big disappointment for me. My family is big into Motocross, so when I came across this book I was quite excited to buy & read it.

I like a story to build with romance and nothing turns me off quicker than sex happening mere momments after the MC's meet. And even more of a turn off...instant love after just a couple of sex encounters for the MC's. Just not believable IMO. The MC's seem to be just a couple of horndogs who happen to work in the same field. Granted, they are young and the urge is strong at that age...but I like a bit more story to my books, rather than a book full of sex and little else. I'm not a prude, but I just feel that the sex scenes should blend into the storyline, so that the book flows smoothly. Perhaps that was the plan all along...a book of sex with a brief hints of story in between.

*Received A Copy To Review From The Author*

This was honestly such a disappointment. I was so excited to read it based on the blurb and it just didn't live up to that excitement. There's nothing out and out terrible. I didn't hate it and it wasn't that difficult to finish. The first half is basically just sex scene after sex scene, which is fine if that's what you're expecting and in the mood for, but the plot was really not that important at that point and the characterization was meh. they just jump straight into bed and then straight into love. I don't know why they love each other, just that they do. I don't know what the like about each other out of the sack, just that they love each other. Stuff like that. I needed more development. Oh a big thing, none of the characters talk like people actually talk. Maybe it's just me but they spoke like such cliches. It's boring. There's nothing interesting really. The second half gets better but not much. It's more about the plot and less about the sex but I just didn't care. It seemed so meh to me.

THE HOTTEST RIDE IN SUPERCROSS

What a GREAT story set in the Supercross world. I love ANY kind of racing. From motorcycles to cars, racing is sexy on its own. This is a beautiful story of a racer meeting his match in a mechanic. Davey is a star Supercross racer. He's gay but in this type of sport it's not talked about. When he finds Tyler naked in his bed, he didn't hesitate. Tyler is the mechanic on a rival competitors team. This story shows that it's still not acceptable to be gay in sports. Any sport. The danger, the uncertainty, the abuse, the threats. It's still alive and well in the sports world. Lynn Michaels did a MAGNIFICENT job defining the Supercross racing world. There are sooo many wonderful characters in this story. I can't wait to see who the next story is about. She has tapped into a sport I really relate to. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!

DNF so I'm not rating. I couldn't get through it. I had an issue with the overall lack of maturity in the book and in the writing. At times it felt more like teenage fanfic than a book about 21+ year old men. Grown men đo not act like this.

For once, Tyler hated being right. "I fucking feel like I'm telling you no all the time."
"Baby, I get it. I know you're right. I told you I'm spoiled."
"Did you just call me baby? Again?"
"Uh, yeah? Is that okay?"
Tyler had to adjust his pants. His dick seemed to like it well enough. "Well, just don't do it when people are around."
"It embarrasses you?" Davey asked, irritation clear in his voice.
"No! It fuckin' makes me hard."
"Baby, baby, baby, fuck when you're here, that's all that's coming out of my mouth!"
Tyler had to laugh. "OhmyGod! You are total batshit!"
"You make me that way, baby! Seriously, I can't wait to see you. Call me tomorrow. I gotta get a workout in."
"Okay. Thanks, Davey."
"For what?" he asked quickly with a soft chuckle.
He shrugged, but knew Davey couldn't see that. Sighing, he answered, "Not giving up on me."
"You're worth it, baby."
"Later, Davey." Tyler hung up and flipped his laptop open. He managed to get a flight that landed at Hartsfield at 8 a.m. in the morning. Fucking early! If Davey thought Tyler was worth pursuing, then he was worth an early flight.

I think there are almost 100 instances of "baby" and it got annoying even for a sap like me.

I don't think I meshed well with the writer's style and tone; I just didn't have the patience.

Unfortunately I think this will go on my author is not for me shelf.

During a party, Davey, a Supercross motorcycle racer, meets Tyler, a new and talented mechanic in the supercross world, working for another team. The chemistry between them is strong and palpable and they can’t stay apart but they have to tread carefully in quite a homophonic environment, as Davey has to fight for a sponsorship and Tyler needs to build his career as a mechanic

It’s sexy, funny, sweet. I enjoy reading about Davey and Tyler, 2 likable MCs. The sex : hot, just as I like. 
OK, I agree with other reviews : the drama is sometimes over the top, but in overall, I got immersed into the story and lost touch with my surroundings and that’s exactly why I’m looking for when reading. A pleasant surprise.

If you’re in the mood for sugar and a hot sexy story, you will enjoy the ride.

The Holeshot by Lynn Michaels is an addiction, sexy romance that takes place in the narrow minded Supercross. For Davey and Tyler, it was almost love at first sight but they have to keep their relationship under wraps or else their careers in the Supercross community is jeopardized. This romance has no shortage of steamy scenes and plenty of characters to fall madly in love with.

The Holeshot has so many characters that I simply fell in love with and I was blown away by the amount of work that Lynn Michaels put into creating this. She brought life to this book and created real characters that you could related to.

Stick With It - A Really Good Story.

I spent quite a while thinking how to write a positive review for a book I didn't really love but which essentially had nothing wrong with it. And then it all started happening, so it turns out I really did enjoy this book after all. So, here's my review...

Starts off a bit slow but turns into a very enjoyable read within quite a unique environment.

I just cannot with this one. How many times can you use the same word in a paragraph? Dick, dick, dick, baby, baby, baby. And hey, I have to be in the closet or I'll lose my career, so if the guy you find in your bed says it's not a setup, he's gotta be legit, right?

A surprise on a birthday starts something neither Davey nor Tyler expected, and with the volatile natures of those around them, it might not be something they can keep if they aren't willing to fight for it. Insta-love and insta-lust abound in this story and with their youth and adrenaline-based careers it's only natural that they would get mixed up before they create something solid. There are plenty of great things about Davey and Tyler together, but there are also drawbacks that tempered my enjoyment of the story. Overall, it was a good read with interesting characters and a hard journey to attain both love and success, to fight for their happily-ever-after.

What I enjoyed was the focused and determined commitment Davey had. He had that for two things, his sport and his heart. Despite all the drama that could, and did, surround the romance, he was all in from the beginning with Tyler. He knew that finding that special connection with someone who respected his career as well as him personally was priceless. What I respected about him was that he wasn't the "I'd give up everything for you!" type, he was more about doing what was necessary to move forward despite the obstacles to earn and have everything.

Tyler, however, was a bit more mercurial. His youth was more pronounced in his tendency to react rather than think things through and make the more mature decisions. He was far more reactionary than I liked and I didn't connect with him as much as I did with Davey. His ability to see the difficulties and be a bit more of a voice of reason often tempered Davey's more "damn the consequences" attitude and I did appreciate the balance he brought to the relationship.

Including the managers' relationship and the secondary conflict with the new sponsor's liaison felt unnecessary and often distracted from the core issues Davey and Tyler faced with their relationship. I didn't mind adding in the M/F sideline relationship because it gave the whole group a more invested, family feel, but it was the additional conflict that drew the focus away. The anti-gay and abusive actions of those in their sport were incredibly disappointing on a human level, but were appropriate to the story and didn't feel overdone. I enjoyed the story and think the sport itself was integrated in a fantastic way along with the secondary characters being quite interesting; it's a good start to the series.

Great Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Heartfelt! 4.5 Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Holeshot
Holeshot, Book 1
By: Lynn Michaels
Narrated by: Ryk Bowers

I thoroughly enjoyed this great sports romance, it is well writing with original and interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored both lead characters, Davey McAllister, a motorcross racer wants to land first place and become the next Supercross champion. It is a highly competitive sport and he does not need any distractions. He comes from wealth so it is not just about the money, is more for the love of the sport. Tyler Whitmore is a mechanic who works for one of Davey’s competitors, he worked hard to get where he is and his experience and expertise got him to work at a more advance level quicker than most. He and Davey first meet in the most unconventional and surprising way. There was an instant attraction and the chemistry between them was electric and undeniable. They wanted to see more of each other but any relationship they have must be kept hidden for two reasons, Tyler works for the competition and neither one is out, choosing to keep their sexuality private. But Tyler and Davey’s feeling for each other out weigh the risks. Those two were great together and for each other. Their relationship was blooming but haters will hate and when they are outed we see their ugliness. From early on I love how supportive Stewart was, getting Angel to work P.R., also liked Brad and Tyler’s friend Janie. This story is well plotted and there is never a dull moment, with plenty of drama both relationship and on the track, so many heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Thank you Lynn Michaels for this great story and the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride. I liked how you deal with the homophobic bigots and haters, thanks for keeping it real and handling as it should. Love is Love!!

I listened to the audible edition, Ryk Bowers is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He does a great job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving them their voices and personality. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

This is my first book by Lynn Michaels and it will certainly not my last. I loved this book. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. Lynn has a way of writing that is captivating, fast-paced and detailed without being tedious.
Tyler and Davey meet by chance and are immediately smitten with each other. The chemistry is palpable and sparks are flying. At the start of the book the steamy scenes were overpowering the overall story, but later on that was more balanced. But it was not only about the sex, I felt their love for each other perfectly. They are adorable together. I wanted to pull them in my arms, hug them and hold them safe.
They don’t want to come out for fear of their careers in a non-gay-friendly sport. They do everything they can to protect the other. I loved that there were no misunderstandings, double-crossing managers or stalking exes. They have a wonderful support system in their friends, managers, and trainers. This doesn’t mean it is easy sailing for the guys. They have to deal with lots of homophobia and other drama coming from people around them.
The world of Supercross is not one I have read before and it is a refreshing change of scenery. I have seen enough races that I know Lynn knows what she talking about. Her descriptions are vivid and real. I could envision every rut and feel the dirt flying around my ears.
Along with the tension of racing for the championship and all that entails there is the tension of the threatening situations that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Another thing I loved that the book didn’t end when they declared their love for each other or soon after. Sometimes authors write a brief epilogue to give the reader a glimpse into the future. Lynn takes the reader further and continues the story by telling about their lives together and of their friends. It made me fall in love with the guys even more.

3.5 rounded up.

I liked Davey and Tyler’s story, and felt for them having to keep their relationship a secret. I know nothing about Supercross racing but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. The supporting characters were great, and added to the story. I particularly liked Angel, and the way her photo assignment grew into something much bigger. There’s a strong sense of family throughout too, which is something I enjoy.

I did, however, struggle with the amount of sex scenes. I realise that it is part of a new relationship – something which is noted later on – but felt at least some of them could have been off screen. Once the story got past that, though, I found myself turning pages and very engrossed, and wanting them to get their HEA. I read for characters and relationships rather than just the sexual part of that, so this is a personal preference. Other readers might not have the same issues I did.

Davey and Tyler feel very young as characters, especially in their reactions to situations, but then they are only in their early 20s, so I thought their lack of life experience came across well. I loved Davey’s collection of geeky T-shirts, and the way they grew a friendship alongside of their relationship. The Supercross races were exciting, especially as the ante upped and Davey’s opposition tried to do him serious damage on the track.

The ending was very satisfying, and particularly liked the conversation between Davey and Cole, which I thought was realistic. I also liked how Darla was written, with her motives a little grey at times. I felt that added a touch of realism too.

I’d recommend The Holeshot to readers who enjoy sports romance with likeable characters and don’t mind a lot of sex in a story.

If I hadn't been so drawn in by their story, I may have stopped reading

Davey is a top motocross racer. Tyler is a young, up and coming motocross mechanic who got his shot with another top team. Neither are out in the circuit, but when Tyler's buddies prank him by leaving him to sleep off his 21st birthday celebration in rival rider Davey's RV, sparks fly and their story begins.

If I hadn't been so drawn in by their story, I may have stopped reading fairly early on in this book, for multiple reasons. I was really put off by the unnecessary subplot with a predatory lesbian. The paragraphs from Angel's point of view seemed for the most part superfluous, but if they were going to be included, it would have been nice to use them to learn more about Angel herself. Instead Angel's character remains undeveloped except as a device to explore another perspective on Davey and Tyler.

Tyler's relationship with his mom might not have always been particularly close, but she and her boyfriend seemed extremely supportive when Tyler brought Davey home for Christmas. So why are they never mentioned again, especially when Tyler and Davey are outed? And being threatened?

There are multiple your/you're errors, and others like "Avant guard" for avant garde, and the mystifying "Steward" for Stewart (A character whose name appears 250 times!) This book was published in 2015 and I read it in 2019, so I have little patience for glaring errors that could have long been corrected. I enjoyed the story (Darla storyline excepted) so I give it 3.5/5 stars, rounded to 4 for review purposes

A practical joke against Supercross dirtbike mechanic Tyler results in him being thrown into the bed of his driver crush Davey McAllister who belongs to another Supercross team. The men are quick to take advantage of their mutual attraction to each other and enjoy quite a morning having sex. With Davey having a childhood filled with nothing but riding, Tyler is a special gift he just can't let go and he pursues a relationship with the mechanic in spite of two very distinctive challenges. First, both the driver and the mechanic work for different, competitive teams. The second is that the Supercross is a homophobic industry. In Tyler, Davey finds an opportunity at a life that isn't all about competitive dirtbike riding. In spite of the care the men take in keeping their relationship a secret, they are outed by an explicit picture that makes its way through social media.
Davey is dropped from his team and Tyler is fire from his. However, the sad turn of events including verbal harassment, vandalism, and physical attacks fail to keep the men from planning to marry. They manage to get sponsorship from Apex, an LGBT organization, and continue with their professional and personal goals. In addition to giving readers a credible glimpse into the Supercross world, the writer takes care to craft a believable story concerning the lives of Davey and Tyler whose hopes, dreams, and future are placed squarely in the sport. The relationship between the men (both are in their twenties) is realistic, as sex features prominently in the storyline! The characters make mistakes, misunderstand, second-guess--everything one would expect given their age and circumstances making both absolutely loveable.

Riding into love

I learned a lot about Supercross reading this book. The beginning of this book was unexpected and surprising, a very happy birthday to Tyler. Opposing sides and the environment Davey and Tyler are in means they have to hide their attraction but they decide to go for it anyway, and boy, do they ever go for it as they can't seem to stay away from each other, which is happy for us. Davey wants all in and sometimes he's a little reckless but it makes sense that's part of his personality. Ty, on the other hand, is more cautious and scared because of their careers. Although, gotta say, they both surprised me with their big gestures to each. They are both highly emotionally invested, which makes each of them feel happiness and sadness very strongly, which isn't bad, just makes for a roller coaster read at times.

I do feel bad and angry about all the obstacles they had to overcome in order to be together, especially the toxic people. I hope some people believe in karma. I'm glad they had their chosen family (Janie’s pretty funny) and their angel on their side, and the extra romance in this story was fun. I really love how sweet and silly Davey and Ty are with each other. They have so much fun together. No matter what happened they supported each other and put the other first and I think that's what makes them work so well. A very sweet and happy ending!

I was disappointed with this book after being excited to read it, there are so many MM books centred on more traditional sports like football, ice hockey and baseball this was something different and as a motor sport fan I thought this would be an interesting read.
It is based in the world of Supercross, with Davey McAllister an up and coming star and Tyler Whitmore a mechanic for another rider, when their paths cross it is instant lust and love. There is not a huge amount of background to the sport or the teams and although there is some talk about the risks of being "out" in the sport most of this book is just endless sex - which I am all for usually but in this case it just seems a bit cold.
I am not a fan of insta love stories and this is straight in, without any background to the characters. I found the conversation between Davey and Tyler very unnatural, sort of awkward and the sex while there is a lot of it, it is a bit cringe.
I found myself skipping ahead past the sex scenes looking for the story but gave up and DNF which I am disappointed to say. I might come back and give it another try at a later date because I want the story to work and maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this at the moment.
