Scarlet Hawthorne

Scarlet Hawthorne began writing short stories at the age of eight, poems at ten, and wrote her first novella – a romantic tragedy – at twelve. Today she enjoys creating characters who discover integrity and their authentic selves through their sexuality.

An award-winning and bestselling author in a variety of genres under other pen names, Scarlet was a featured author at the 2014 BDSM Writers Conference in New York City and contributed an excerpt from her upcoming romantic suspense Retrograde to the first BDSM Writers Con Anthology. Always eager to challenge herself as a writer, Scarlet utilized a “panoramic point of view” narrative style, rarely found in fiction today, in her erotic romantic suspense Deadline.

Scarlet has been a speaker at national conferences discussing how power exchange can enhance relationships, and she loves including elements of BDSM in her erotic romances because she hopes to reverse the misinformation and negative stereotypes promulgated in the media.

Scarlet lives with her two dogs and their Master in a lakeside community in the New Orleans area. When not devoting herself to writing or what Erica Jong refers to as the requisite “zitzfleisch,” Scarlet spends her free time drinking wine and eating cheese, taking long candlelit bubble baths, and playing with her dogs around the lake.

Her next release is the contemporary male/male romance Between the Notes, expected August, 2015.

This is sweet and funny. I love the domesticated homosexual comment when Mike gave his speech about being tired. Here we have two men. They start out as enemies but they are attracted to each other. Damon was brought before Michale because of Michael’s niece sneaking off and ending up in Damon’s bed in Vegas. Of course nothing really happened but to keep his reputation Damon didn’t say anything. He does have Michaels bells go off on him being into men but he ignores it for he is angry at what happened. To rectify this issue Michael has his niece work an internship with Damon. This does get them to learn more about each other and have them build a rapport with one another.

I love how this relationship builds up. they aren’t instantly in bed but they explore who each other is. They have intimate conversations and learn about each other. Here we have Damon who is deep in the closet that the closet goes to Narnia where he is hiding. There are many reasons for this biggest is his fear of losing his father. than we have the opposite in Michael who is comfortable in his skin and as he says a “domesticated homosexual”. both are sweet, kind guys who no longer wish to go to clubs, parties etc to date. They are sick of the dating scene and want to settle down. They have a insane attraction to one another and slowly come together.

There are funny moments and sad moments. the intimate moments in which they talk and learn who they are are beautiful and poignant. They give us insight as to what drives them and what they desire. The other intimate moments are sexy and sweet because we see love and respect shine through.

This is a wonderfully written story of two men wanting to find permanence and one afraid to come out. they find one another and learn about each other. As they learn who each other is they grow close and fall in love. The love is built on friendship and trust. They respect each other. One learns that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Over time we see the niece grow and mature and the relationship between Michael and his niece does as well. So does the relationship between Michael and Damon. At one point the in the closet hurts them but Damon does come to his senses and gets courage to do something about it. The grand gesture of love will have you swoon. A wonderful story of finding courage through love to come out and be yourself. These two men will capture your heart and have you root for them to come together and stay together.

Damon is front man for his rock band, being in the public eye and being
someone you are not is a hard life to live. When 16yr old Julia is found on
Damon's tour bus and in his bed, his face is all over the tabloids, but for
all the wrong reasons.

Michael offers Damon a deal, but in doing so learns a lot more about the
rocker than the public knows. The story of these two is really sweet, it's a
story of discovery for Damon, always knowing of who he is but always hiding,
scared of public perception. Michael has been a gay man all his life, not
scared to hide who he is, his feelings are tested when Damon is not wanting
to make their relationship public knowledge.

Scarlet has written a good book, I really enjoyed the like easy read,
Michael and Damon are so different, yet there relationship really works and
the ending of the book I loved. . I got a bit confused with some of the
terminology used for Damon (his from England).

It was overall a good read.
