Suzie and Mary are enjoying running Dune House, the majestic Bed and Breakfast on the beach. They are happy with their lives in the small seaside town of Garber, but they are looking for something to spice things up a bit. They get exactly that, but in the most unexpected and unwelcome way, when a guest dies on the premises. Although the police believe it is an accident, the friends believe that it is murder. They do whatever they can to uncover the truth and protect the reputation of Dune House. Even when it means putting their own lives at risk. Will they be able to catch the killer? Or was the death really accidental?
This book was worse then the last one. I absolutely couldn’t stand Suzie in this story. I found her to be very annoying and too overprotective of Mary, who’s a grownup woman. She puts herself in dangerous situations and acts like a teenager instead of a 50 year old woman. The other characters are not much better.
This book was a slow read and kind of boring. The writing was not as good as previous books. However, this like the others was very predictable. It was an okay book.
Go do it, because reading this is a total waste of time.
I personally wanted to strangle Suzie and Mary, the leading ladies. Their friends didn't fare much better. Insipid is the word I would use to describe most of the characters.
I read this through Kindle Unlimited - heaven knows if I had paid for it, I would have asked for a refund.
Find out what's happening a the Dune House Bed and Breakfast. Mary has bithday soon. And Suzie is having a surprise birthday party for her. She is having Mary's son & daughter come, she bought two airline tickets. So Suzie is very busy making of the arrangements.
But then a man who was staying at Dune House, fell off his balcony and died. The ruled it an accidental death.
Suzie and Mary decided to investigate, because they feel the man was murdered.
There's so much more to this story you need to read it! There is also new romance too! Enjoy!
I really enjoyed reading this book. You got involved because you could feel her frustration she was trying to figure out who had killed her guest. I won't say anymore, I could easily give it away and I don't want to, but I recommend you read the book, it's not a heavy read it's a comfortable read and when you finish it you don't feel like you 'worked hard to finally get it done'. Hope that makes sense.
Another interesting and slightly nail-biting story from Susie and Mary. Their business is threatened with ruin when it appears a guest has fallen through the railings of one of the balconies. But the ladies are adamant it's foul play and murder. It's a race against time and help from a friend to solve this, clear their name all before Susie's surprise for Mary. A stolen rare book just adds to the mystery. Fabulous read.
One of my favorites from the series since its centered around an old rare book. But when it Susie going to get off her high-horse and realize that while she may have good intentions, she needs to go about things in a different way. But then again, Jason needs to get his act together and learn how to properly investigate cases.
These books just keep getting better and better. Since it was Mary's birthday coming up I certainly know how stressful that can be but a murder of accident didn't help. Really good.
This was another wonderful book in the series. I like how besides the mystery there is a subplot with both women starting new relationships. I am currently in the process of reading the whole series. I would definitely recommend this series.
I enjoyed this story of adventure and suspense, the characters and suspects did a great job of keeping me looking back to try and figure things out. A wonderful job of mystery and 4 romance.
This story was a very nice read! It was an enjoyable story of love and of friends who will do almost anything for each other. Including help catch up with a murderer!!
Good story. Lots of twists and turns. Great characters. Great relationship with all the characters. Cant wait to go on to the next book in this ongoing saga.
Another book where we have Suzie and Mary enjoying the life of owning their own B&B, only they are beginning to get bored and are wanting something that will spice it up for them. This is when they get just that... only it was unwanted and unexpected. They find a guest dead on their premises - but this isn't the first time someone was murdered on their property. All of this is happening while Suzie is trying to plan a surprise party for Mary, including booking flights for Mary's two children to come over and join them. It is believed that the death of the guest was an accidental death, as he "fell" from his balcony. Except, Suzie and Mary believe that it was not accidental and begin to conduct their own investigation.
I chose this rating because of the characters. I really enjoy reading about the two of them. It's a comfortable, enjoyable, and easy read. I would recommend this book to anyone.
I have never read a book where all characters were so flat and empty. I thought it might get better with time but... The ideas are good and if the author bothered to built them with good characters and a realistic setting it might be interesting. Too bad she hasn't.
This book was slow. No mystery, the story was predictable and boring. I've read all the books in this series and was hopeful it would go somewhere... Its an ok read.
Quick and enjoyable read. I like that the main emphasis in this series is the friendship of two 50-ish ladies who are starting a new phase in their lives.
10 stars! This has Louis the librarian in a bad situation, when he inherits something that someone is jealous. There happens to be a murder, breaking and entering, forgery, and attempted murder, framing of murder, and payoff. Suzy is asked to help Louis while she is trying to prepare Mary's birthday party, with several surprises. Of course she gets Louis in a bad situation. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
