In the south, things get real dirty. Especially on Saturdays. Mud on your jeans. Grit in your beer. Your tan washes off in the shower. That's how you know it's racing day. Or as the Dirt Track Dogs like to put it, winning day. Because they aren't racing unless they're winning.
Surge, the wildest of all the Dirt Track Dogs, is finally ready to settle down. His work hard, play hard, live loud mentality has never failed to make life interesting for him. And that's why he's got his eye on an interesting woman. A hot as hell werecat construction worker who melts his heart as much as she revs his engine. Now if he could only tame his wild wolf and the demons from his past before she becomes just another sad love song.
Tana isn't looking for a mate. She's already been there, done that, and has the scars to prove it. The job she took building a house for the wolf pack wasn't supposed to make her question that decision, but watching the way they love and respect their mates has her wondering if she could ever have that kind of connection with someone else. A smirky, sexy, obnoxious someone with a penchant for dirty things perhaps?
When a tragic accident leaves Tana with unexpected responsibilities, she's forced to confront the beasts from her past. Lucky for her, Surge knows a thing or two about past mistakes, and he's not about to let her face them alone.

This is my least favorite of the series so far. When the book starts Surge and Tana already know each other and Surge already wants her forever. I feel like I missed the beginning- first look at each other and the getting to know each other part. They were sweet with each other and I believed they loved each other. I also really liked Surge during their sex scenes- he is a hot one. I didn't like that they both had dead mates. Tana had no nice feelings toward hers, but Surge grieved his loss even though he had never met her. It bummed me out that Surge knew he would have had a loving relationship with that girl if she hadn't died. Also- I could have done without being told more than once what a manwhore Surge used to be. One mention is all I ever need- more than that and it starts to tick me off ;) safety gang safe
I am so shocked I just do not know what to say. This was really good. Better than the previous books in terms of story and emotion. But I am so sad! And I know I should not be. The book was a sweet love fest (in spite of a tragedy), complete with an adorable baby. But...well I cannot say without giving away something significant. It is something that bothers me personally and will probably not affect most others; so I do not want to give it away.
I do recommend this for those who liked the previous stories. It is free on Kindle Unlimited.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Surge Tana ---------------------------------- What happens? Surge is one of the dogs that doesn't have an intended mate. She died during the fire that hurt her pack and Surge never got to meet her or get to know her. Tana also no longer has an intended mate, cat shifters doesn't mate to be in love they mate and then the male goes off and gets more pregnant, Tana is the first generation of cat shifters that says no to being mate and so her mate clawed her and destroyed any chance of carrying her own babies. Surge wants Tana, and he is pretty sure she wants him, when tradegy strikes from a car accident at Tana's hand a baby is orphaned and they both have the chance to be parents even to a cat shifter different to themselves. Final thoughts This was sweet, it was nice to read a different type of romance for this series, not the usual falling in love with your fated mate blah blah it was I think sweeter that they chose to try and work it out and they fell in love like that. Its nice! I also hope there is a cat shifter romance coming for Tana's clan! Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
Instant family, secrets, shifter romance. As a panther shifter Tana has no interest in mates or letting anyone close. Surge is wild and knows what he wants: Tana. It's not until Tana is landed with a orphaned cub that opens she herself up to love from any direction. Another great addition to the series with just the right mix of sweet and spicy. Fav Quote: “Why do you want me? I’m broken.” “Because, baby. There’s nothing more beautiful than two fucked up people fitting their broken pieces together to make something whole. Can’t you see it? The way our broken pieces match?”
I absolutely loved this story. I have been waiting for Surge’s story since the first book. I was intrigued to find out about who he was. I was not disappointed except for the fact that I wanted to know more about his relationship with his mother. I didn’t like that there was so much story and back history that got passed over. It didn’t take away from the story but it would have added to it. I’m on to Diz’s story. Until next time y’all happy reading.
So far I like this story the best. Tana and Surge are different shifters. What I liked about this particular story is even if you are different you can still find love in each other. You also learn about how other packs operate and how it is in other states. One more wolf to read, but this one is my faveorite so far.
HERE KITTY KITTY !!! Title: Racing Hard Series: Dirt Track Dogs Designation: Book Four, Stand Alone Novella, No Cliffhanger Author: P. Jameson My Rating: FIVE HEARTWARMING STARS ***** Racing Hard is the fourth and newest release in the sinfully sexy Dirt Track Dogs Series by P. Jameson and may I just say - WOW! Absolute perfection! Although this is a series, I believe the books can be read as standalone stories since each has its own happy ever after ending but it will most certainly enrich your experience by reading the books in the order in which they were published. I started reading Jameson's work last year and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I now anxiously await each new release. And just what makes her writing so special you ask? Well, my answer is quite simple - her stories make my heart sing and my spirit soar! What more could you ask from a great book? Not a darn thing! And this book is no exception! Jameson has dazzled us yet again with an incredibly perceptive, emotional and heartwarming read. Reading a shifter series about dirt track racing is a first for me. Being from the deep south where we love our racing, I was immediately intrigued, and actually, I live only two miles from our local speedway so you know I'm already a fan! And Jameson does not disappoint! The first, second and third books in the series are sensational but this book also resulted in no small number of chuckles, more than a few tears and an over abundance of joy. It pulled at my heartstrings and captured my heart! I laughed at the antics and innocence of the characters and sobbed uncontrollably throughout the book but by the end, I was left with tears of joy on my face and love in my heart. If you've ever read any of my reviews, then you probably have already guessed that reading is a very emotional experience for me and I express my feelings through my heartfelt reviews. If an author can bring me to tears, cause me to sob, break my heart, miraculously make me laugh, and then heal my weary soul with words, obviously the author has done their job exceptionally well and Jameson has delivered just that - again! Let me preface this review by saying, none of the books in the series are packed with actual racing. There is a good bit more in the first book than in the second and very little in the third and fourth but each story actually revolves more around the characters and features their lives, loves and conflicts. This story is exciting, thrilling, fast paced, original, imaginative, compelling, heartbreaking, heartwarming, humorous, sweet, romantic, arousing and sensual. Oh, did I mention hot? Well, it's definitely HOT!. The dialogue is smart, exceptionally well written and flows beautifully. But my favorite element of her stories are the characters. They are fascinating, captivating, unique, engaging, endearing and at times, laugh out loud funny. Jameson expertly combines these elements into an utterly irresistible paranormal read with just the perfect amount of heart-wrenching angst, heated attraction, fiery passion and heartwarming romance. Sigh.....So dreamy! So, are you ready for another wild race??!! Well then, buckle up my lovelies! Get ready, get set, let's goooo!!! Of all the Dirt Track Dogs, Surge is the craziest and wildest of all and his live loud, work hard and play harder mentality has never failed to make life interesting but even undomesticated wolves can be tamed. Surge and his rowdy uncontrollable wolf are finally ready to settle down and not with a darn houseplant either!(If you read Book Three, you know exactly to what I'm referring!) And that's why he has his eye on one tantalizing female. There's only one little problem - she's a real hellcat with "cat" being the operative word. Yep, he has his sights set on none other than Tana, the werecat working with the panther construction crew helping to rebuild in Cedar City after the tornado. She's hot as haydees and really overheats his engine! Yowza! Now, if he can tame his randy, unruly wolf enough to not scare her off, then maybe, just maybe, he can convince her to take a chance on him. But the fiercely independent Tana has secrets of her own and she wants no part of him, his wolf or any other male for that matter! Or does she??? Nope, she will never submit and allow a male to force her to mate. Force her? What the heck? Cats are notoriously solitary creatures and are strangers to life with a pack. Tana's life feels empty and she's knows she needs something - she just doesn't know what - yet. Could it possibly be the love of a certain crazy wolf named Surge. Why yes, I believe it is but will Tana ever be able to understand and welcome pack life??? Hmmm....I wonder??? No spoilers from me but I will say this...... Beautiful independent but very lonely panther shifter-check! Crazy handsome wolf with a maniacal laugh and a very randy wolf who has a thing for kitties and houseplants-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, heartbreaking angst, sweet romance and undeniable love-check! That and a whole lot more! Deliciously cute, fabulously funny, seriously sexy and delightfully entertaining. I love it! I can hardly wait for Ditz's story! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
I like how P. Jameson kept her 'mate rules' but also managed to get around them in this story. The cat's mating ritual is absolutely appalling and I was rooting for Tana hard, and loving Surge right through this story. Love how it worked out for them in the end.
Awesome! Hilarious! This read was dramatic, and very emotional, but humour balanced it all. Follow two people who find each other as humor brings them together. As always P Jameson rocks on hard!
Surge and Tana had already list mates. In different ways but lost them just the same. Maybe there are second chances to find love again for shifters. Great story.
When I first started this series I thought ok this is interesting. As this is the 4th book, I'm at Damn this is good! Looking forward to the next one. I believe this was the most romantic of the series. Each DTD has some kind of emotional upheaval. Surge/Brandon's wolf cackles uncontrollable. Surge didn't know he was a shifter . He was a volunteer fire fighter at the age of 15. There was a terrible feeling inside him telling him he had to go, he had to save her. But he didn't know HER or what the crawling feeling under his skin was. He left and followed his instincts. when he arrived he found fire engulfing the area. His wolf tried to tell him to save her but he didn't understand. He was too late his intended mate someone he'd never met was killed in the fire. His wolf knew she was out there and where and went a little crazy after she was gone. Then after a storm a clan of cats came to help rebuild home damaged in the floods. And in walk Tana and his wolf took notice. Tana is damaged too. Attacked by her potential mate and scared for life Tana has emotional baggage too. But maybe the two broken souls can combine to make one whole person. They sure hope so
How freaking perfect was this cover to this book? It matches Surge perfectly! LOL. Wow...he was just cute and sexy. I've always liked his character. I do feel bad with his little uncontrollable laughing. I think having Tana though grounds him and he's able to control it better. My heart hurts for what she went though. All that pain and not being able to have cubs. :( Then crap happens and she's in care of a cub whose mother she hit in the road accidentally and killed. She and Surge bond with the little one. Its so cute and sweet. Just loved their story. I laughed my butt off when they got caught doing naughty things in his truck by the police officer. LOL. His response to the cop was priceless! Tana...she was trying to hold in her giggles. Ha. I do hope we get something/someone for Diz. He desires someone greatly and I dunno I kinda thought Arkansas/Grace's sister might be a possibility. Not sure. Lots of heartwarming things and funny things in this story and loved it!
4) Wonderful, I like this series !! The Dirt Track Dogs race cars. Drake is the Alpha of the small surviving wolf pack, Blister, Surge, and Beast, and Diz. They each have the acceptance, compassion, and the love they have each craved. His pack survived the fire that wiped out their people, and these guys have been celibate while trying to survive and make their way in the world. Their world changed with Drake finding Ella, Beast his one and "Punk", plus Blister and Annie. In this one, we have Surge and Tana, who need each other, but don't realize it yet. Tana hits a bobcat and the baby it was carrying is okay. Tana can't have kids, and we have tears, heartwarming moments, true love, acceptance, and fun along the way. Loved this story, the deep characters, the interesting tale, and the great sex, which together made this worthwhile. P. Jameson is a wonderful writer, keeps our interest and makes us smile. These are stand alone stories, but richer if you know the previous characters and their friendships. Highly recommend. ENJOY !!!
I have been waiting to read Surges story since book one, I was not disappointed either. I absolutely loved Tana and Surges story and feel in love with little Grace. I really hope Destiny gets a story. There was so much I loved about this story and I know you will fall in love with this book also. I've loved this whole series but I loved this book the best. There was passion, pain, screwed up pasts, love, and most of all a great storyline. You won't be disappointed with this story.
I loved this book. You Gotta love Surge with his crazy Wolf. You laugh and cry for both him and Tana. And you get to see more about Dix. He is the only one unmated. Hopefully he will get his happy ever after very soon!! And of course you hear from most of all the other characters at least a bit. This book and series is excellent. In fact all of PJ Jameson's books are superior.
This one is #2 on my favorites out of this series so far. I loved Tana and Surge together! They were adorable, and little gracie! I loved that they weren't intended mates, but they found love becaus e they wanted it, not because fate old them to. Granted, I don't mind the whole intended, fate driven mate story, but this was a nice refresher. I loved this so much. I can't wait for Destiny's story with Diz.
You need to read these books. Great story line. Tara is a panther and works construction. She's had a bad history with her fated mate, but when she meets Surge one of the Dirt Track Dogs she's skeptical because she's a female and the men around her try to take the hard jobs when she can handle it. Surge's wolf has known she was his. He lost his mate in the terrible fire. When these two get around each other they argue but you know what they say about opposites attract.
I love this whole series, but Surge is my favorite. I love how crazy and different he is. What I love the most is how he embraces his inner crazy. If you haven't read any of this series do so. This is book 4 and can be read as a standalone but you don't want to do that. Go back to book one and read all of them. So worth it
I would give this 4.5 stars for the most part. I didn't quite like it as much as the other one. I think the reason was because Surge had more sexual experience and seemed to have more of a problem with being celibate than the other guys so far. I did love him and Tana together and . I love this series and can't wait for the next one.
This installment in the Dirt Track Dogs series is much better than the last. It is the fourth version of the basic shifter finds mate plot. This time both MCs are shifters and both of their mates are dead so these are are intentional rather than intended mates. I liked the hero and the heroine and this time there is a bit of plot to go with the romance.
