Sunshine Merryweather is a young witch with a passion for colorful clothes and good food. She is the owner/operator of the Purple Door Detective Agency. Her partner, John, was brutally murdered three days ago, and she won’t stop until she finds his killer.
Aine is only interested in one thing when she walks into the building with the purple door–locating the last man alive in the branch of the O’Neill family she haunts as a beane sidhe. She has been asleep for 200 years in a ruined Irish castle and realizes that the world has moved on without her. She needs to find the O’Neill heir and encourage him to start a family or she will pass from existence when he dies.
Sunshine sees a potential partner when she looks at the powerful beane sidhe - they could be the next Dynamic Duo! But Aine isn’t interested in Sunshine’s schemes - until the witch agrees to help her locate O’Neill. Even then, it will be a short-term association at best from Aine’s point of view. She has no need of witchcraft.
Neither woman is aware of the danger they face as an ancient assassin stalks the old port city of Norfolk, Virginia. It will take more than simple witchcraft or beane sidhe magic to stop the killer. They will have to work together and combine their talents.
But can Sunshine and Aine put aside their differences to stop the murders without tearing each other apart?

Wow! It's been a while since I've read a book in a day. But, this paranormal cozy was right up there. Witches, banshees, and harpies -- oh my!

This book was very well put together. In some ways, it didn't read like a first book. Every one was given a back story and some things were referred to that you felt were covered in a previous book.

The only sad thing was the fact that the authors are no longer with us. I would've like to read another book in this series.

A Witch, a Banshee, and a shape-shifting mouse walk into a pizzeria together. This is not the start of a joke, but a wonderful new series by Joyce and Jim Lavene, the Purple Door Detective Agency. Sunshine Merryweather, a witch, is interviewing for a new associate for her detective agency, to help her solve the brutal murder of her former partner and lover, John Lancaster. What makes his death all the more inexplicable is the fact that while in his werewolf form, he should have been able to easily fend off anyone, mortal or supernatural. Aine (pronounced Ann) is a banshee who has awoken from a long enchanted sleep and is unable to locate the last descendant of the family she has haunted for centuries. On the advice of the mysterious tenant of the corner office, dubbed Mr. Bad, the two agree to work together to solve both their cases. Interested yet? If you are looking for your British “stiff upper lip” cozy mystery, this story is not for you. But if you want a little Harry Potter-esque type mystery, then dive into this book. I promise you that once you start reading it, you will not be able to put it down. I can’t wait for the next book in this series! Disclosure: I was provided with an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Welcome to the Purple Door Detective Agency! Here you will meet some lovely ladies who are wanting to help with any problem they can. Sunshine, Jane and Aine are here to help you. Well, Sunshine is anyway. She's a young witch (After all, she's only 75) and started the agency with her partner John Lancaster and her mostly silent partner Mr. Bad to help people with normal and paranormal problems. Jane is her shapeshifter receptionist and Aine is her newly hired banshee. Very reluctantly newly hired that is.

Sunshine needs Aine to help her find out who or what murdered John. Not just because he was her partner, he was also her lover and his unexplained death has hit her hard. Aine is the last of her kind, searching this new world (well, new to her anyway) to find the last of the O'Neill clan so that she can foretell his death and guide him to the underworld when it's time. They both have the necessary talents to help one another so, what could go wrong?

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are wonderful and I think it was a great start to this new series. Can't wait to read the next one!

A new cozy series by two of my favorite authors. I had to read this book. And I love the title for the series, Purple Door Detective Agency. I have a page on Pinterest that’s all about doors and have many pictures of purple ones.

I also was excited this was a paranormal cozy. I like the themes of cozies. Pets, sewing, books, and food. And now Paranormal!

I’m entering the door now.

One thing I know I’ll get when I read a cozy by Jim and Joyce Lavene is colorful characters. Not only are they colorful, they aren’t all humans.

Meet Sunshine Merryweather. A private investigator. She handles all of the paranormal cases while trying to keep it from the public eye.

The authors description of Sunshine reminded me of Penelope (baby girl) from Criminal Minds. She never leaves the house without make-up on, hair perfectly poofed, and some kind of spangled outfit. Her favorite color is purple, hence the agencies name, and she wears it, works in it, and lives with purple.

Sunshine is young for a witch, only 75 years old. She’s got some serious powers though. While a good, witch, you don’t want to get on her bad side. Watch her hair. When you’ve annoyed her, her golden locks start to look more like a strawberry blond. You never want it to go red.

Once through the purple door, you’re greeted by Jane, the receptionist. The agency is looking for a new associate, and the waiting room is filled with werewolves, hags, vampires, and other scary characters. I didn’t blame Jane for hiding in the closet. Especially after I learned more about her.

Jane is the victim of a spell gone wrong. One cast by none other than Sunshine. She’s still trying to fix it. Jane is a mouse, literally. She can shift to human form. I had such fun with her. She is timid like a mouse, always hungry like one, and likes to nibble on things.

Some scenes that had me laughing:

Sunshine talking to Jane:

“Stay out of the cereal.”

“Take messages and try not to nibble on them.”

A new client walks through the purple door.

Meet Aine, a beane sidhe, or banshee. She needs help and her scream insures she gets it. Aine is looking for the last surviving member of the O’Neill line. She must find him, be there to warn him of his impending death, and lead him to the other side. Woken from a two hundred year sleep, she finds a whole new world. The technology bewilders her but she quickly starts catching on. She’s not there for the job opening, but she gets the job.

There’s a job opening because Sunshine’s lover, a werewolf, was torn to pieces several days ago. She not only needs to fill the vacancy. She needs help tracking down his killer. She wants vengeance, in blood.

There’s one door at the agency that stays closed. It’s the office of Mr. Bad. That’s what Sunshine calls him. He just showed up one day. Her associate, John, says he’s staying and don’t ask questions. Just who and what is Mr. Bad? And why is he there? She’s never seen his face as he keeps his office blacked out. Very mysterious.

And I don’t want to forget Detective Sean O’Neill. He has no clue about his ancestral bloodline or the beane sidhe. Things get interesting when he meets Aine and Sunshine. They keep bumping into each other as bodies continue to pile up. First, he views them as suspects, then as crazy ladies. A visitation from Aine in his bedroom only makes things crazier.

What do a witch, a banshee, a mouse, and a detective have in common? They’re all smack dab in the middle of a paranormal investigation and they’re foe is not of this world.

The opening of this story was such fun. I snuggled in with a cuppa tea and some snacks, knowing I wouldn’t be able to stop until I finished this book.

And once again, these authors kept me hostage as their characters came to life on the pages. Their writing is fast and fun, seems almost effortless how easily it flows. They are prolific writers and have numerous books and series. It may take years, but I’ll read every single one.

I received this book for my honest review.

It is said that a purple door signifies that a witch resides within, and Sunny Merryweather is indeed a witch and proprietor of the Purple Door Detective Agency, and she is short-handed at present. Her business partner and boyfriend John, who happened to be a werewolf, was brutally torn apart while in his transformed state, a form in which he should have been able to fend off just about any attacker. Sunny has sworn to solve the mystery and avenge her beloved…she just needs to hire a new associate first.

Aine, an ancient Banshee, has awakened from an enchanted two hundred year long slumber to find that the world has moved on without her, and the O’Neill family she has haunted for centuries is about to die out. She finds herself drawn to Norfolk, Virginia, and Sunny’s purple door. She must find the last O’Neill and convince him to start a family because she will otherwise fail to exist when the blood line dies. She makes a bargain with Sunny to help her find John’s murderer in exchange for assistance finding O’Neill. When reports come in that a shape shifter has met the same fate as John, Sunny and Aine rush to the scene in hopes of gleaning magical information about the crime, but they are shocked to find the man Aine seeks there at the scene. Sean O’Neill is the detective in charge of the case.

Thus begins a raucous mile-a-minute adventure full of imagination and the color purple. Be My Banshee combines the best of urban fantasy with cozy mystery creating an entertaining, humorous mash-up adventure. Throw in a mysterious office mate, a shape shifting receptionist, more feline shape shifters, a dragon, and harpies and you are guaranteed to smile all the way through the book. Sunny is a little flighty, but likable and smarter than she lets on. Aine plays her part as a fish out of water well, and I appreciate her human-like emotions. Sean is also appealing, providing a grounding mortal rationality to the situation. I did guess whodunit pretty early on, but it did hamper my enjoyment. The action compelled me to keep turning pages, and I look forward to reading the Purple Detective Agency’s next case.

The writing team of Joyce and Jim Lavene are some of the most prolific writers I have had the pleasure of reading, and their works are guaranteed to please even the most fastidious reader.

I was given an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review. The opinions are my own.

This is the first book in a new series written by Joyce and Jim Lavene. I haven’t read many urban fantasy mysteries and wasn’t sure what to expect. WOW … this book is awesome!! Joyce and Jim Lavene are truly talented authors. They combined an interesting plot with well-defined characters and mixed in magic, fantasy, humor, mystery, suspense, action and more to give their readers a “can’t put down … what will happen next” book. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series and finding out what happens next at The Purple Door Detective Agency.

The characters include Sunshine Merryweather (a young witch who loves everything purple), Aine (a beane sidhe who haunts the O’Neill family), and Jane (a shape-shifting mouse who is timid, always hungry, and works “magic” with computer searches) who work together to try to find out who brutally murdered Sunshine’s boyfriend, John (a werewolf) and reconnect Aine with the O’Neill family. Secondary characters include shape shifters, a police detective (the last in the O’Neill family) and his partner, a harpy (thought to be extent), and Mr. Bad (a mysterious man who rents space at the Purple Door Detective Agency and whose powers are unknown). Sunshine needs Aine to help her find out whom or what murdered John. Aine needs Sunshine to help find the last living O’Neill. Both have strong powers, but they must combine their powers and efforts to navigate a modern human world with old world folklore and supernatural forces to find resolutions for their problems. The tension builds, there is danger everywhere, and more people with supernatural powers are badly injured or brutally murdered.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think this is going to be an interesting series! It is more on the fantasy side with witches, werewolves, shape shifters and the like.

Aine is a banshee that has come to the Purple Door Detective Agency searching for the O'Neill she is supposed to haunt. "Mr Bad" (who no one really knows his identity) wants her to work there with Sunshine and they trick her into staying there and help solve crimes and they will help her find O'Neill. Aine finds her O'Neill fairly quickly after agreeing to work there but there is a problem, he doesn't know who she is or what her purpose is...after all he is a mortal.

There were a few things that didn't quite gel in my head - once Aine finds O'Neill and is trying to explain to him what her role is, he seems to accept it all too quickly, and in fact embraces her and her role in his life.

Discovering who murders the shape shifters, werewolves and tattoo artists was a bit of twist. It tied to events that weren't really being investigated.

For the past week or so, I have been driving my dear husband crazy, as I dance around the house doing my rendition of Be My, Be My, Be My Little Banshee. Poor guy doesn't realize what he has missed. Please don't follow his lead and miss out on this fast moving, humorous book from the fertile minds of the fantastic Lavene duo. I certainly hope that this isn't the last we'll see of the irrepressible Sunshine Merryweather and her staff. Hmm..They are hiring, I haven't been doing much lately, perhaps I could get a gig as a girl singer?? Every time I think that the Lavenes can't get any better, it seems as if they love to prove me wrong, because they just get better and better.

I finished this book this weekend and I have to say "LOVED IT!" I arrived at the end and did an "Excuse Me??" Most especially after Mr Bad made himself known. You have to read this. Being the first in a series, it's not always easy for an author to squeeze it all in. Back stories on characters, mystery set up and introduction of the characters to one another. However and Joyce and Jim did so just fine! I'm quite partial to Aine, being if Irish descent and all! Absolutely can not wait for book two! No spoilers here, only my five star rating and prompting you to go for it!

Be My Banshee if the first book in the new Purple Door Detective Agency series by Joyce and Jim Lavene. This is, also, the first book in the fantasy/urban fantasy genre that I have read (cozy mystery/mystery is my favorite). The talented writing team, Joyce and Jim Lavene, cleverly crafted this tale combining fantasy and mystery with multiple twists that had me captivated. I believe this book can accurately be described as AMAZING.

The staff and supporting cast, of the welcoming Purple Door Detective Agency and associated well developed and described so newbies to fantasy, like me, know what their roles/terms mean relative to the plot and include: Sunshine Merryweather, Jane and Aine. Sunshine is a delightful 75 year young witch who founded the agency with her partner John Lancaster (a werewolf) and a silent partner Mr. Bad (a mysterious man who rents space at the Purple Door Detective Agency and with unknown powers) to help people with normal and paranormal problems. Jane is her shapeshifting mouse/human receptionist who is always starving and Aine is her reluctantly hired banshee (Irish beane sidhe). John, Sunshine’s partner and lover has been murdered. Sunshine needs Aine to help her investigate his murder. Aine is the last Irish beane sidhe, and her goal is to locate the last surviving member of the O'Neill clan (a police detective) so that she can inform him of his impending demise and guide him to the underworld at that time. Each character with their unique talents and/or powers, must work together in a coordinated effort to resolve their problems and prevent massive injuries or deaths.

When describing the real feel components of this book. I’d say it delivers a wonderfully woven plot with elements of mythology, magic, mystery, horror, action, true suspense as found in a thriller, and a marvelous touch of laugh out loud humor. The reader can’t help but want to know what will happen next. Warning, if you start reading this at bedtime, you won’t be able to put it down! This is a phenomenal start to what I believe will be a wonderful series. I can even visualize this book series as a television series on SyFy or Chiller!

I absolutely loved "Be My Banshee", and strongly recommend this book. Personally, I can’t wait to see what “cases” will present for investigation and will happen in the next book. I'm looking forward to additional books in this series and finding out what happens next at The Purple Door Detective Agency. If you like classic cozy mysteries, this book is not for you. If you like fantasy or mysteries with a whole lot more to tickle your imagination, this book is perfect. Joyce and Jim, I hope you are planning to continue this series. I believe, after reading this book, that others and I will be disappointed if you don’t.

Full Disclosure – An advanced copy of this book was sent to me by the authors in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Be My Banshee
Author: Jim and Joyce Lavene
Rating: 5 Stars

The Purple Door Detective Agency exists to help witches, shape-shifters, vampires and other magical creatures and beings that humans only think of as “fairy tales” and fictitious to solve mysteries. That’s right. Their magic and insight can’t solve everything. It is run by a purple-clad witch who drives a purple convertible who loves the color purple by the name of Sunshine Merryweather. After her boyfriend, a werewolf, is torn to pieces by an unknown killer, others begin being killed in the same manner.

Enter Aine, an ancient Irish Beane Sidehe of Ulster who comes to the agency in need of help finding the last of the family she serves after having been put under a sleeping spell (unwillingly) for the last two hundred years. Reluctantly at first, Sunshine takes on Aine’s case and also adds her to the agency as an employee after another employee, the mysterious “Mr. Bad”, instructs her to do so. With Aine’s help, Sunshine and Jane, the shape shifting mouse-lady, not only help find the last O’Neill but get closer to discovering the reason behind the unusual shredded remains.

Aine of Ulster finds the police officer, Sean O’Neill, and pledges to stay with him and serve as his Beane Sidehe, warning him of his death and then taking him to the underworld when the time comes as she has for his ancestors before him. Unlike the other times she served the O’Neill family however, Aine feels differently toward him. Could a corpse fall for the living and vice versa?

With O’Neill’s help, Sunshine, Aine and Jane discover the truth about the murders through magic and modern technology. They also find out several truths about themselves and others around them. A big reveal is made toward the end that comes as a shock to many as Sunshine and Aine become the most unlikely friends. Their banter back and forth is humorous throughout the book as Aine learns about the new, modern world and Sunshine learns to open her eyes to the ancient world she didn’t know still existed.

This book was both well written and entertaining. There was never boring moment. The Lavene’s brought to the forefront, a story to the modern world about an ancient fairytale that those of us who are of Irish decent have always heard about. I loved how they kept her true to the folklore and expressed her different personalities. With my family having hailed from Ulster and having served under the O’Neill family themselves, this book was a true treasure. I have been to the castle ruins and could imagine Aine there as my family is buried just down the hill from the remaining circle of stones and trees. I feel great affection for the character of Aine, the Beane Sidehe. This might be, by far, my favorite book. Well done. Thank you for introducing Aine to the world. The next in this series cannot come soon enough.

Sunshine Merryweather, owner of the Purple Door Detective Agency, has her work cut out for her. Her partner and lover, John, was murdered and Sunshine is determined to find his killer. However, she cannot do this alone. So when Aine, a banshee, shows up looking for a member of the O’Neill family, Sunshine makes a deal with her. Sunshine will help find the last O’Neill and Aine will her help her locate John’s killer. Sounds easy enough, but nothing is that easy. Did I mention that Sunshine is a witch?

Not only is Sean O’Neill the person Aine is looking for, but he’s also the lead detective in John’s murder case. Sean doesn’t realize it yet, but he needs magic to help him with this case. Did I mention that John was a werewolf and shapeshifter?

Sunshine and Aine have no idea what or who killed John, but one thing they are sure of – it wasn’t any mortal. The death had been so violent they are sure it was done by something mystical. The entire city is in danger when other shapeshifters are brutally killed.

The best way to describe this book is paranormal meets cozy mystery. You get the best of both worlds with this one. It’s not a genre I’m used to reading, but it hooked me from the first page. It has everything from witches to shapeshifters to a banshee. We even get a mouse shapeshifter that shifts into a timid woman. Oh and there are a couple of mortals tossed into the mix as well as a Mr. Bad who nobody really knows but seems to be in charge of everyone and not someone to be taken lightly.

It’s a fun book and includes an epic battle. Another edge-of-your seat, page turner for this author team. Readers are always guaranteed an exciting adventure when they open a book by Joyce and Jim Lavene. They haven’t disappointed me yet. I’m looking forward to my next visit to the Purple Door Detective Agency.

I loved this book. I can't wait till the next Purple Door Detective Agency comes out! This book had me from the start. Who doesn't love witches, werewolves, shape shifters, and of course a banshee and everything purple. These characters are great. I can't wait till find out more about them as the series progresses.
First you have Sunshine who is a witch on a mission to revenge the death of her lover at any cost who is trying to hire someone to be her new partner at the agency. And then you have her secretary Jane who is actually a mouse that transforms into a woman and is a wiz on the computer. She is a hoot:) I think she could eat all day if permitted. Every time she was eating cereal I could envision her little nose twitching like Samantha on Bewitched. Then you have Mr Bad who you will come to find out as the story progresses is a very secretive asset to the agency that Sunshine really doesn't know much about other than he was here on day. He stays in a dark office all day and night. He never has shown his face to anyone at the agency. Who is Mr Bad?? And will he help the agency when the time comes or will he stay in the shadows? He is hell bent on having Sunshine hire a banshee named Aine that has come to the office not to work but to hire Sunshine to find the last O'Neill. Everything changes when Mr Bad decides that she will work for the agency and she and Sunshine must combine forces to find not only the last O'Neill but find the person or thing that killed her lover. They must stop the killings before another innocent life is taken. The adventure and mystery is so fast paced you will not want to put it down.

I was given a pre-release copy of this book for my honest review.

Welcome to The Purple Door Detective Agency, for all your paranormal needs. Sunshine Merryweather, aka Sunny, is the main detective, along with being a witch. Jane is her assistant, who was a mouse, but Sunny cast a spell which has changed Jane into a woman. While conducting interviews for a new associate, an old hag comes into the agency to see Sunny. The hag is Aine and she is in need of Sunny's help. Sunny tells Aine to come back tomorrow when she has a new associate - you see, John Lancaster, Sunny's associate and lover, was killed a few days ago. While grieving, Sunny knows she must go on and find who killed John and exact her revenge. Aine is persistent and Sunny hires her for the associate's position. Aine is a banshee, or a beane sidhe, and has helped the O'Neill family for hundreds of years make their way to the underworld. Aine needs to find the last remaining O'Neill heir to be with him and guide through his life. And so the adventure begins........Sean Patrick O'Neill is a police detective who is now investigating John's murder and comes in contact with Sunny and Aine. More murders and Sunny and Aine are the main suspects and although they try to convince Sean and his partner, Sharon Malto, they had nothing to do with the murders, Sunny and Aine still show up at each crime scene.

I will leave the rest of the plot of this book for your reading pleasure. Five stars for another stupendous book from Joyce and Jim Lavene. You won't be disappointed with Be My Banshee --

Joyce and Jim Lavene have introduced their followers to yet another new series. Be My Banshee, The Purple Door Detective Agency, is a book for those who are fascinated by supernatural characters will find entertaining. I never thought about how many different types of mystical characters there are but I think Joyce and Jim have covered almost all of them. The Purple Door Detective Agency’s co-proprietor, Sunshine Merryweather, is a young witch who although barely 75 in witch years enjoyed helping others solve their mysteries. Her passion for the color purple is obvious from the very beginning with the door to the agency being purple and most everything inside being purple also. Sunshine is a modern day witch who drives a purple convertible, is familiar with computers and will stand up for her friends. This is evident from the beginning of the book when she begins a search for the being that has killed John, a werewolf, her partner and lover. Tied into her quest for answers she befriends a banshee who has been dead for many years. Aine, pronounced like Ann, past queen of Ulster, is in search of the last of the O’Neill bloodline to which she has been to follow. Although Sunshine and Aine rubbed each other the wrong way, they soon become an amicable pair. Their quest to find answers to who killed John and to find the last O’Neill will cause you to lose track of time and unable to put the book down. Hopefully we won’t have to wait very long for the second in this series to be published.

BE MY BANSHEE is unlike anything I have ever read. This book isn’t just a para-cozy, it has a large paranormal aspect to it. It’s not a story I would normally read or review on my blog, but there was one major deciding factor in me choosing to read it…the authors, Joyce and Jim Lavene. These two brilliant writers turn everything they write into gold.

Well written and very creative, BE MY BANSHEE has an incredible plot. There was action and suspense from the beginning of page one, all the way to the fantastic conclusion. Once again the Lavenes have created a winning new series.

Even if this isn’t your normal reading material, with the Halloween season approaching add a copy of this fun mystery to your reading list. Can you think of a more perfect time of year to read a book about witches, banshees, shape shifters, and more?

If you’ve read books but this beyond talented writing team, then you know you have to get this book. If you haven’t read the writing of Joyce and Jim Lavene…what are you waiting for?!

The Lavenes have done it again--created another fun paranormal mystery series. We're given some enjoyable new characters to get to know, among them Sunshine, Aine, Jane and Mr. Bad. And as they are a detective agency dedicated to helping out "supernatural" clients, there are obviously going to be many more interesting cases to come.

My favorite character after this book is Jane, the receptionist for the agency. Jane is a shape-shifter--a mouse who shifts into a young woman, thanks to an "accident" of Sunny's in the past. In human form, Jane still has mouse-like traits, which are very endearing. (As someone who was called "Mouse" throughout junior and senior high school, I can relate!)

This is a book that you'll want to make sure you have time to read in one sitting, as you won't want to put it down once you start. I'm already anxious to read the next one!

The Purple Door Detective Agency is where magical beings go for help with their problems. Sunshine Merryweather is a witch with unusual flair and a special talent. She's up to any challenge, but it becomes personal when her werewolf lover is murdered. Can she find who or what did this? I was hooked from the first page. The paranormal element gives this series a special twist. The characters are quirky and from the otherworld. I loved their differences. Aine of Ulster is the beane sidhe doomed to follow the O'Neill family. She wants help, but she and Sunshine end up as partners. Watch out world! Are you ready for this Banshee? The action is non-stop and the story is filled with surprising twists. I loved Jane, the office assistant, who is an unusual shifter. Joyce and Jim Lavene did an outstanding job. This is a well told mystery that was filled with both humor and suspense. Who knows what mythical creatures will inhabit the next book. I can't wait!

GREAT New Series!
This is a great start to a great new series. This is the first book in the Purple Door Detective Agency series by Joyce and Jim Lavene. Sunshine Merryweather is a young powerful witch who owns the Purple Door Detective Agency. Her partner and boyfriend was brutally murdered and she is determined to find the killer. Aine is a very old beane sidhe who comes to the agency for help locating a man whose last name is O’Neill. Sunshine and Aine end up working together to find the killer. I loved the characters and the story. If you are looking for a great book with a great story then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

A fantastic start to a new series! Sunshine Merryweather is the owner of the Purple Door Dectective Agency and she is looking for a new partner! Her prospects are looking dim until she meets Aine a banshee who is looking for the last of the line of the family she is bound to protect! Their first case is to find the one who killed Sunshine's shifter boyfriend. These two are like night and day with Sunshine being a happy go lucky witch and Aine being a disgruntled banshee! With shifters, witches, and a harpy on the loose these two are bound to find some trouble! I was giving this book for a fair and honest review! Jim and Joyce Lavene are a talented duo who will leave you glued to the pages of their books! I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next book!

What a great start to a new series. This book was such fun to read, I didn't want to put it down Sunshine, who is a witch, has a detective agency for the paranormal kind. Her lover/partner (werewolf) is murdered and she wants to find his killer. She has a mysterious partner, and has a banshee who needs help. You never know who or what is coming next. The mystery keeps you guessing, and with as odd as some of the characters are, you come to love them all. Where else are you going to get a banshee arguing with a shape shifter? I had quite a few laugh out loud moments. Great read, and I can't wait until the next one comes out.

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review. I loved the way that the authors added in a touch of Greek Mythology with this series. The mention of characters in other story lines that they write were awesome to hear. Like visiting old friends. The story line over all was really good. They kept me on my toes. Thought I had the who-done-it figured out only to find out I was only partially right! Very good start to a new series and I sincerely hope they continue on with this series. Looking forward to the next installment.

Welcome to the Purple Door Detective Agency where you will find Sunshine Merryweather, a witch looking for a new associate.
Sunshines partner and lover John Lancaster was murdered and she wants revenge for his death.
Get ready to meet some fun characters. Jane, a mouse who shifts into a woman, Mr. Bad who nobody knows who or what he really is and Aine a banshee.
Great well defined characters in this new series.
A fast paced mystery, adventure with humor you do not want to miss!
I loved the book and looking forward to more of this series!!

Sunshine needs help finding her partner's murderer. Aine needs help finding the man she is supposed to be haunting. Reluctantly, they team up helping each other navigate a modern human world with old world folklore and supernatural forces. Each woman is strong and capable in her own right, but only together can they find answers. Interesting characters and intriguing plot lines develop in this story. Can't wait for more!
