I was not expecting the relationship between Bucky and Black Widow. I also loved the part with his sister, it hurt.... a lot. But I loved it.

I don't get it. There was no mention in the previous issue that he was captured. What on earth did just happen? How did the Winter Soldier years start so soon and how on earth did he even meet Natasha in the present? -_- Her younger sister is old, for God's sake. -_-

WinterWidow is my favorite genre.

"Natasha is not yours. She belongs to the Red Guardian."
Bucky: "You think she belongs to anyone? Then you're as foolish as the others."

UGHHHHH🫠🫶🤌

This issue tells us what happened to Bucky after he "died" on a mission with Captain America (Cap was then found by Fury). Bucky narrates his story (1958), how he became the Winter Soldier and his secret forbidden relationship with the Black Widow.

Their handlers and officers (Kremlin) are deeply suspicious of this attachment because they believe emotional connection weakens loyalty and threatens the Winter Soldier program. The Soviet officials discuss Bucky not as a man but as a weapon that must remain obedient, and they are concerned that Natasha is causing him to recover fragments of his former self. Their relationship is highly forbidden by their Soviet masters. Their superiors eventually found out and punished them, wiping Bucky's mind and keeping them separated for decades (they rescue him in 2005).
Back in the 1950s timeline, Bucky confronts his Soviet officers and handlers regarding the ambush. He furiously complains that he wasn't given all the vital information necessary for the job and yells at them in English where he should have yelled in Russian. Fearing Bucky's growing conscience and insubordination, his Soviet handlers decide he requires further, intense mental reprogramming. The flashback ends with Bucky being put back into suspended animation ("put on ice") and sent on subsequent missions, wiping away his lingering humanity and his love for Natalia.

The comic ends on a bittersweet note, emphasizing that the Winter Soldier was never completely stripped of his humanity, and that Natasha represented one of the few genuine emotional connections that survived beneath decades of Soviet manipulation and psychological torture. Bucky was saved later by Cap. Bucky would have put a bullet in his head to “quite the ghosts” if it weren’t for Nat.
The Nursing Home Scene: Bucky visits his elderly sister at a nursing home. She is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Bucky uses the opportunity to confide in her, confessing where he has been all these years and detailing his history. Although he knows his sister won't remember or truly understand due to her condition, the visit provides a sense of peace, closure, and catharsis for Bucky as he tries to reconcile his dark past as the Winter Soldier with his true self.
