Astrological Transits: The Beginner's Guide to Using Planetary Cycles to Plan and Predict Your Day, Week, Year

Rate this book
Your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky taken at the moment and place of your birth, one that reflects your character, personality, strengths, and challenges. But the moment after that picture was taken, the planets moved on--some quickly, some very slowly. Astrologers call the moving planets "transits," and by comparing their movements to your birth chart you can gain a complete view of how best to prepare for challenges, meet opportunities, and stay grounded in a constantly-changing world.

In Astrological Transits, astrologer April Elliott Kent will guide you through the best ways to make the most of your birth chart. Learn how to make the most of good transits and harness and transform the energy of "bad" ones. You'll also understand planetary cycles and anticipate your own transits. Finally, you'll know how to read planetary return charts, work with planetary retrogrades, and use eclipses to recognize major patterns and turning points in your life.

If you are comfortable reading a birth chart, you are ready to move your chart into the future using transits. Instructions, tables, and worksheets will make tracking your transit cycles simple and exciting!

I was so excited when I found out April Elliott Kent was writing a reference book on transits, and I am so not disappointed. As always, her writing is clear and funny and deep--avoiding the pitfalls of both silly pop astrology and the dry slog of a lot of real astrology books. "Astrological Transits" is a useful "cookbook" for when we just want to look up a quick paragraph about a transit. But it's also more than that: she's teaching us how to understand and collaborate with the planetary cycles that mirror the complex unfolding of our lives. Highly recommended for beginners and pros alike!

so much great information in this book, however, I found some to be lacking. for instance, Mars transiting natal Mars is completely left out? the Sun/Moon chapter could have been more detailed for my liking as well, but I will definitely still hold onto this one as a reference guide for the valuable info it does contain.

I didn’t like the book at all. The author was very vague with her descriptions and interpretations throughout the entire the book. The book is like your typical surface level astrology book, lacking depth and giving very general, basic information, which is surprising because it’s supposed to be about more than what you typically would get out of an average astrology book. To be more clear, she’s not properly communicating the actual, deeper meaning and symbolism of the transits, it’s just such a superficial way of explaining some of them “oh Saturn’s in Gemini, you better return those phone calls and e-mails!!!” I don’t think the author is a very serious astrologer.

My target was to develop practical understanding of astrology. This book help me at some level. This book is a good one for beginners. May be i should read another book of her called practical astrology. Probably I wont. Because astrology gets boring after sometime. Nothing is stronger than your Godself anyway.

I stopped reading somewhere towards the end of the Saturn chapter.
It's the typical astrological book, the information it gives is vague, general and evasive. Not accurate and absolutely useless.
The information is given also in the form of advices and using poetic language instead of sticking to the facts. Just more deceitful astrology.
