"Mother Fox is the most unflappable parent imaginable as her cubs help her prepare a family surprise for Valentine's Day, and make a frightful mess. . . . The layout has been carefully done, with good-sized type and generous white borders, so that beginning readers, as well as lap-sitters, can enjoy this story".--School Library Journal.
Anyone who's had small children knows that sometimes the little ones' efforts to help only hinder, and make more work for the adult in the room.
Mrs. Fox is working hard to prepare for a special Valentine's Day, and her kits keep creating messes. She proves to be much more patient than I would be in that situation. Luckily, there's a sweet and happy ending for all . . . albeit a chaotic one.
Mostly I felt sorry for mom fox as the kids were trying to make a valentine's day surprise but made a mess of the house (and didn't really help clean up). Cute story but I felt exhausted by the end of it.
I felt exhausted for this poor mamma fox! It was nice that the children wanted to make a valentine for their parents. But they made a mess all over the house doing it and seemed to not care!
