Face-to-Face with the Lizard From the Everglades, there are strange reports. Something that looks part-lizard, part-man has attacked some locals. Spider-Man hears about him through the Daily Bugle and answers a challenge by the paper to take him down!
Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber) was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.
With several artist co-creators, most notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor as a superhero, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, The Inhumans, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.
I've read this a handful of times. When the Spidey comic reprints used to come in newspapers in the early 2000s, I read this again. When the Amazing Spider-Man came out on bluray with a special edition that included a reprint of this, I read it a dozen more times.
We got to see the Lizard in action this time against Spider-Man! This one was had more emotion involved in it, but that’s not surprising since we were dealing with the Lizard. It was good seeing him in the comics after recently watching him in The Amazing Spider-Man film and No Way Home.
Classic Spidey tale: the Lizard is one of the early villains that was foundational in establishing ASM dominance in sales. Note the 'Jekyll-Hyde/Frankenstein' motif used by Stan Lee - just like the Hulk. Stan Lee was a voracious reader of the classics when he was younger. The Lizard fits into the category of what I will call 'tragically powerful transformations' - great power that negatively impacts the life of the individual transformed due to new interpersonal responsibilities.
AMAZING FANTASY 15, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1-10 (Spider-Man's First Arc)
Peter Parker is easily one of the greatest creations in the history of comic books. Even if you threw out every other plot element besides the character himself, you'd still have a character story that deals with so much poignant emotional and psychological conflict.
The dialogue is what really makes this. Stan Lee divides Peter Parker's dialogue into 3 distinct styles: Peter Parker's thoughts, Peter Parker's words, and Spider-Man's words. This structure says a lot about our protagonist; Peter Parker's words are presented in a very introverted and articulate manner. Spider-Man's words, conversely, are presented in a very extroverted and sarcastic manner. This presents the central conflict of the character, in that Spider-Man is a cathartic part of Peter's psychology; he is everything Peter is afraid to be, but can be behind the security blanket of a mask.
The only truth to the character is his thoughts, as he tightly controls the presentation of Peter Parker to hide suspicion he could be Spider-Man. This plays even further into the notion of Spider-Man being a cathartic release for him, in that his thoughts are designed as this fusion of Peter's intellect and Spider-Man's wit. Peter Parker's spoken words lack much of the wit which is present in his own thoughts. Spider-Man presents all of that wit, because he has more freedom to do so; behind the security blanket of a mask, there's less consequence.
And this plays into the deeper theme, of "Great Responsibility" coming with "Great Power." Because there is no physical consequence to himself. But his choice of how he uses this newfound freedom and newfound power has consequences for others... which, as iconic as they are, I won't dare spoil here. These consequences affect his romantic equal Betty Brant, his loyal to a fault Aunt May, the think-tank editor J. Jonah Jameson, or the city of New York as a whole and its perception of him; even if these consequences don't necessarily affect him directly, they still create a whole plate of intimate character conflicts that have nothing to do with spandex villains. The villains simply create a plot of his actions, where these ongoing conflicts resulting from his actions are his character evolution.
Spider-Man vs The Lizard (well its not Fats Domino*). The Lizard is spotted out in the swamps so Parker persuades Jameson, who is baiting Spider-Man into confronting The Lizard via newspaper headlines, to go out there and try to take photos. I'm a big fan of Ditko; the guy clearly was a legend, but his depiction of the lizard is more frog like than the ferocious Lizard Connors will later come to be. Most of the time he looks like doesn't have any teeth so comes across rather neutered.
Firsts: The Lizard. Spider-Man creates Web-Swamp shoes (honestly!). Spider-Man also appears to use his spider sense to track the Lizard through the swamp like he was bitten by a radioactive bloodhound.
The Lizard's honorable path to a Wolf Man-like existence makes him one of the few sympathetic Spidey villains. It feels like Lee and Ditko didn't imagine any future issues with Dr. Curt Connors's scaly alter-ego because this story ties up a little too nicely, but it's fun to see Peter Parker escape NYC for the first time and web-sling around the Everglades. I'm just waiting for The Lizard to interact with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Ia berangsur berubah menjadi manusia. Istri dan anak Dr. Curt Connors kembali bahagia bisa berkumpul bersama lagi.

Pesan moralnya: jangan coba-coba mengutak-utik alam, bahkan sekalipun tujuannya kamu (kira) mulia. Kalau tidak, kamu akan berakhir seperti Dr. Curtis Connor: tujuanmu tercapai, tapi kamu kehilangan kemanusiaanmu.
I didn't know that the Lizard's origin took place in Florida and that Peter didn't meet Connors until he had already become the Lizard. The story certainly has its charm, but I prefer alternative origin versions of the Lizard.
the lizard: im gonna extract a serum from lizards to give me regenerative properties!! and then I’ll give the serum to the lizards and it’ll make them stronger, somehow. even though i got the serum from them. it’ll work out trust me

Introducing The Lizard, this is another winner. It helps that the first selection of issues of Amazing Spider-Man was able to introduce so many memorable villains, and it also helps that I know many more Spider-Man villains than I thought I did.
This turned out better than. I thought it was going to be. After Spider-Man saves Liz, he calls her 'blue eyes.' She is now infatuated with Spidey.
Down in Florida is The Lizard. He's been making headlines by driving people out of the swamp. With much exertion, Peter convinces J. Jonah to foot the bill for a trip to Florida to photograph The Lizard.
The Lizard came to be through an experiment to grow back a lost arm. That turned the doctor into The Lizard. All around perfect superhero, Spider-Man, produced an antidote to fix The Lizard. It took a wonderful fight, but the antidote was finally administered and all was once again right with the world.
