Book 9 of the More Than Friends Gay Romance Series
Each book may be read as a stand-alone. Reading in sequence is not required.
Evan was heartbroken when Nick left him two years ago to live a party life. He focused on his job as a truck driver and put his own needs on the back burner.
Georgie is a favorite at Paddles, providing personal entertainment to anyone looking for a sexy femme boi.
When they meet at a party, it doesn't seem like more than a superficial connection. Neither expect to find actual happiness from each other.
A sweet and heartbreaking story that you won't be able to put down until it's finished.
I was looking forward to this one because Evan and Georgie...and I've really liked Georgie so far and wanted to see him get a bit of happy and he did...so with just one more book to go I'm thinking this one may end up being my favorite one in the series...but I'll know for sure in a few hours when I'm doine listening to book #10. Either way this will either be my favorite story of the series or a close second.
A nice enough story about two people who've been looking for a permanent relationship. A few bumps in their way made the story more interesting than usual, but the complete lack of background about the MCs (when it's hinted that their past is filled with ghosts) didn't make for a deeply emotional story. Pity, because the writing was good.
No idea whether something of the following will be spoilerish, I'll put it under a spoiler tag to be sure.
I was really looking forward to reading Evan's story, so the beginning was good, only to then fizzle out the more it moved towards the end. For example: Georgie's big dream of becoming a fashion designer. Build up to his going to New York for some fashion event or something like that, only to then end after one not-so-favorable experience? The whole thing was told/mentioned with a few dry sentences.
Then the health scare, same thing. Build up to something very important only to then being solved in breakneck speed.
The ending was rushed and unsatisfactory.
For all my anticipation, this read was just ok.

Wow, what a whirlwind! Loved the story, even though I was speed proofing it ;) Kudos to Aria for writing another amazing story! 10 thumbs up for Looking For Home!
Note: This book was provided to me by the author through the DBML Program in exchange for an honest review. This is a really sweet story of two young men who have given up on love, and yet each kindles a tiny spark of hope that they might find someone who loves them unconditionally and with whom they can find a happily ever after.
Evan, a long distance truck driver, has never recovered from breaking up with his boyfriend Nick two years ago and has managed to live pretty much as a recluse since then. When his friends convince him to attend a black tie New Year’s Eve party being hosted by Vinnie and Chance (Best Chance), he reluctantly goes. It’s there he meets the gorgeous and flamboyant Georgie.
Georgie is a highly paid escort at Paddles and is in high demand by those looking for a femme. (MANTIES!) He’s recently lost the Sugar Daddy he had high hopes of finding his HEA with and has also been convinced by best friends to attend the party. When he and Evan meet, the attraction is immediate, and when they end up finding some alone time in the rooftop garden after the party, Georgie reverts to his professional side, showing Evan the best blowjob of his life. He’s surprised when the favor is returned, but not enough to be nice to Evan when Evan asks to see him again. He turns on his snotty persona, tells Evan exactly what kind of work he does, and tells Evan to book him through the website.
That should be enough to end their story, but friends of both men convince them that each is genuine and deserve a second chance. That second chance comes primarily through texts. While Evan is on the road, he and Georgie strike up text conversations through which they begin to know each other and when they finally do get together, Georgie is impressed by his Prince Charming as Evan treats him with kindness and respect. This is only the beginning for these two, but it helps build a nice foundation that carries them through further separations and through a personal crisis which could have grave implications for their future.
This couple was great. I love a fem guy paired with a nice ordinary man, and these two fit the bill. I recommend this as a sweet MM romance to all who love a love story. Great stocking stuffer too.

I am a huge fan of Aria Grace. I like her writing style and have read and enjoyed many of her books. For some reason, I missed this one and i found out why: "rent boy" as a MC. I tend to steer clear of the "rent boy genre but this is Aria Grace; so I carried on. I loved it. I met Georgie from another book and I fell in love with him all over again. I thought YEA a happy ending for him. Georgie is a high end rent boy; a bit flamboyant, and Evan, a bit of a recluse in the dating scene due to a bad breakup two years ago. They meet at party by mutual friends and the sparks fly. A miscommunication between Evan and Georgie could have nipped the sparks in the bud had they not decided to "trust" one another and not let preconceptions hinder them in finding their HEA and their second chance at love. This was a delightful, engaging and entertaining read.I have not read this series in order but reading prior books enriched this story.
I've been rooting for Georgie to find his person for what felt like forever. He's been one of my favorite characters from Paddles, always so happy and full of life. Unfortunately behind the smiles, there is a sadness that all too often isn't seen. We met Evan briefly in a previous book, but he touches something and stuck with me. Maybe it was just the way he cares & nurtures without judging.
The chemistry between Georgie & Evan is off the charts. They are drawn to each other, feeling more than just the usual attraction. Self control isn't high on Georgie's list, yet he finds himself trying, wanting to do more, be more for Evan. When Georgie has the chance to leave his job at Paddles, it may give them the push needed.
Tim Todd really brings Aria Grace's books to life! He showcases the personalities, gives added dimensions to already wee developed characters.
I got this from the author in exchange for an honest review. I got it through the DBML program of the M/M Romance Group at Goodreads.
I want to start by saying I came in with high expectation for an enjoyable read with Characters that captured my interest. what I got was a read that was good but not enjoyable. character that like the story seemed to be too formula based for my loving. It is a good read and much is worth reading I just wonder if the author should try a different kind of M/M writing I think she has taken this series as far as she can go and need something new to stir up more interest. Again I find the writing to be solid but too solid it seemed too predictable.
Looking for Home, book nine in the More Than Friends series by Aria Grace. This is the ninth book in a fantastic series! It’s true you don’t have to read these in order. They don’t have cliffhangers! I hate those! But I think you miss a lot of the experience if you don’t read them in order. This series has fantastic characters that you learn about through out the series. The main two characters in this story are Evan a trucker and Georgie a Rent boy. They both are looking for their happy Ever After. The storyline is great! Aria has become one of my favorite authors. Can’t wait to read the next book!
The first thing is make sure you have kleenex. I will have to agree with the description of this story, once start reading it you can't put it down, very well written, you just become the characters and before you know it your done. Amazing story, I was given this for a honest review, I glade I got chosen to this, just fantastic. This the 9th book in this series, I am off to get the first 8 books. If their written like this one I can't wait..
I loved finally getting to see sweet Georgie find his own HEA. Only complaint is that I would have liked more time with them. But then I am greedy like that.
Is wracked with tormented twists and turns. It saddens me to think that others actually suffer in these ways, but it makes me happy to know that others can help them if they will let them.
Another awesome book by Aria Grace. Love this More than Friends series. This book is a m/m contemporary. I'll be reading more from this series. I listen d to this book as an audiobook.
I was provided a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! I love Georgie - he is a hoot! I was totally anxious to read this book when I read the summary and just 1 previous review. I didn't want to stop reading but life made me, darn it!
I have not read any of the previous books in this series but as the summary mentions, you really don't have to, although I wish I had simply because THIS book was so great.
As I said, Georgie is a hoot, and just adorable. He pouts, he whines, he cuddles, and he is looking for love. Since Georgie is an "escort" for Paddles (a high class brothel?), he is paid to have sex (or sometimes just BJ's) with wealthy men who are either married or too afraid to come out as gay. This is not his long term career choice and he has a five year plan - escort for a while longer so he can save enough $$ to become a clothing designer. This is what we - the reader - is led to believe to be Georgie's DREAM. This is why he is having sex with these men so he can become a famous fashion designer. I am emphasizing this for a reason, which you will find out why later.
There is a scene where he has sex with a client, which I liked because it showed how distanced he really is from the encounter, not to say he wasn't participating, but we can hear his internal dialogue which really helps the reader understand where he is at mentally.
He doesn't seem to mind his job as a prostitute and as he says himself, he does get some enjoyment from these encounters, but not always. And this is why Georgie is looking for a man all his own, one who doesn't pay him for sex, someone who will cuddle and be there for him in his old age (when he needs his diaper changed, LOL!) He thought he had found this in one of his clients, who promised him he would leave his wife and they would be together. I could NOT believe that Georgie was that naïve. Really? He fell for that? I had a hard time believing Georgie was that - I hate to say stupid, but... Maybe deep down he didn't, don't know, but when the man breaks things off with Georgie and tells him he is moving out of state, Georgie is very sad and angry and depressed because he thinks he will never find love. He has seen all his friends find love (assume those are the previous books to this series) and he wants his.
Enter Evan, a truck driver who hauls potatoes from one state to another 3 days of the week. Evan is still working on getting over his break-up with the ex who went to Hollywood to become famous. He too is looking for someone he can grow old with, someone to love and be loved by. You can tell this is fiction because he is a "ripped" truck driver, LOL, exercising, lifting weights, etc... So he is in great shape, and we read about an encounter he has in the gym shower, very nice, steamy.
Evan is basically forced to attend a New Year's Eve party by his friends, and there he meets Georgie, and he is really drawn to him. At first because he reminds him (from the back) of his ex, but when he is introduced to him after stalking him at the party, he forgets about his ex and is just drawn to Georgie for himself. He has no idea that Georgie is a prostitute, and Georgie thinks he DOES know - predictable, but hey, I liked it.
They flirt and dance and talk at the party (it's not just a party but I'm not giving it away in case you've read the other's in series), and through circumstances, Georgie becomes depressed because he sees his coupled friends and remembers he has no one. Evan flirts his way up to the roof with Georgie where they proceed to give each other some pretty good BJ's. But when Evan asks to see him again, Georgie's goes into full pout/self destructive mode and tells him flippantly to book him through his service; the first one's free.
Evan is shocked, as you can imagine, and when Georgie realizes Evan didn't know what he did for a living, he still doesn't back down because who could ever really love him as a prostitute?
Their friends once again intervene and they both try again through texting (since Evan is on the road working). I liked this part of the story. It's really relevant to life now since people hardly ever talk anymore, it's all electronic. Evan is able to text while driving because he can speak his answers into his phone and hear Georgie's replies out loud. They grow closer during this time (3 days) and make arrangements to get together again in person.
As the days go on they continue to grow closer to each other. Georgie, meanwhile, has been waiting to hear back from a fashion show about "interning" for a designer for 2 weeks in NY. He finally hears back that he has been accepted from 100's of applicants and he is ecstatic. When they both realize that Georgie will be leaving town soon, they both step up their game and have sex for the first time. Then cut! What? Really? That's all we get and boom, it's time for Georgie to leave? I did NOT like that part. I wanted to read about them having more sex, I wanted to read about Georgie being with his clients now that he's with Evan. I really, really, really, wanted to read how Georgie handled those encounters, and I wanted to read about Evan's reaction when he understands that Georgie has just been with a client. I wanted to hear their discussions about how they handle this. But we don't get that and I felt cheated. There really should have been more than just sex for the first time to Georgie leaving for NY.
Anyway, Georgie goes to NY with some of his own creations to show off, he meets his Designer Boss God. He is really busy in NY preparing for the fashion show so his communication with Evan is usually brief. We learn that Georgie is not as enamored with NY and fashion as he thought he would be and when his designs are put down by other designers, and he's told he has no talent, he is devastated and ready to quit. I can't seem to stop saying this, but - really? Georgie has dreamed of becoming a designer his WHOLE LIFE! This dream has consumed him and he is ready to just give up after a few criticisms? I didn't buy this aspect of the story. Be devastated yes, but then he should have been all screw you people I'm not quitting!
Georgie's Designer Boss tells him he does like his designs and can get him an interview with Project Runway person. And he tells him this while molesting Georgie in his town car. Yep the guys a perv and wants sex, which thank God Georgie doesn't fall for (unlike when he believed his client was going to leave his wife) and gets out of the car and quits the job in NY, running home to Evan.
I am leaving out a part to the plot because frankly in my opinion, it didn't add anything to the story and I feel that there were other ways the author could have added more "story" to the story by doing what I wanted, haha!
Evan and Georgie reunite, sing kumbaya, HEA. This was a disappointing ending. Georgie moves in with Evan, there is no more mention of Georgie wanting to pursue fashion, which hello? Was his dream, but I guess no more since he didn't like those people, they were mean.
I need to say again, that I really liked this story and I plan to read the rest in the series. The author writes well and I thought the characters were very well done and in fact, I was surprised at how aggressive Evan was written, in a very good way. I would have though Evan would be intimidated by the fact that Georgie is a professional in sex, but he's not. He totally goes for it and takes what he wants, no shy bone in Evan's body. Go Evan!
I just wish there had been a little more substance to some parts of the plot, but I made up for what was missing by making it up in my head. I would recommend this story to others as a good fun read which will make you laugh, smile and have a few heart twists too.
"Looking for Home" is easily my favorite audio book in the More Than Friends series. Georgie is such a sweet person who deserves to "be a keeper" that it's impossible not to root hard for his HEA with Evan, an ordinary and nice guy who treats Georgie right. Credit to their mutual friend Trey for talking sense into both of them early on - to truck driver Evan about keeping an open mind, and to fashion designer/male escort Georgie about opening his heart. Both are lonely men healing from past hurts and they make a sweet couple. Narrator Tim Todd delivers a solid performance here that added to the overall enjoyment of the story.
I have been waiting for Georgie to find true love but he needed to understand he was worthy of love before it could happen. Being a prostitute for so long had left Goergie thinking everyone was only with him for a quick hookup and that he was unworthy of a real relationship. That is until he meets Evan. Right away the sparks fly but it is not until Georgie hits rock bottom do they get their HEA. This book was so worth the wait and I loved that Aria Grace included more of past characters storylines. Love this fabulous group of men!!
Finally Georgie gets his story. I found it to be a very sweet one. Loved to see,the different sides off Georgie, from flaming live off the paid or unpaid party.. to dreams and hopes on an another live and future. And you know what they say about wishes who can come true. I loved how Georgie falls for his guy. he deserves it. fun and sweet story, good writting and hope for more with each new book.
Much better than book 8 which I hated and rated 1 star. This had an interesting story from start to finish and likeable characters. Georgie and Evan were a great match. Despite it's short length it didn't feel rushed and felt complete in the end.
I received this story for an honest review from Goodreads MM group, Don't Buy My Love program.
I finished this in one day, but waited a couple of days to let it all settle before writing this review(I often do that.) It may contain some spoilers(but not really).
I only read the first book in this series, but it's true, you don't need to read them in order. It's obvious who the previous couples are (from the previous books). Evan and Georgie actually have mutual friends but don't meet each other(or hear about one another) until they are dragged to (another) mutual friend's party.
On one hand we have Evan. He the older man, in his mid-thirties(oldest of his friends). He's all bummed because he's single and is sure he won't find 'the one'. I don't remember a lot about him now.
Georgie has his game plan. Work, save money, (hopefully) make it into a special fashion program in New York and make it big in fashion. His work... He's a rent boy. Georgie is very flamboyant. There is one client who he thinks might be the one for him. He's wrong. So, his sorry ass is pulled to the party. He wants to find 'the one'. Real love.
Evan and Georgie both don't they will find love. They have their own reasons why, but they meet at the party. There is some miscommunication(isn't there always).
Sparks fly, sex happens. Georgie's an ass at first but they work on their relationship. Together they have to learn what they truly desire and made some big decisions.
The ending. I don't really remember it. I do remember it was not sad and it felt like it just ended(though left open for the next book-- couple). I would have liked a more well-rounded ending for them as a couple.
What was the most memorable thing from this story. There was a sentence that ended with the word 'at'. I know I do it myself(I'm trying my darnedest to quit this habit), but that stuck. It was about making a dinner reservation.
Overall, I think it was a good read and something nice to pass the afternoon.
I was provided a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story is sweet and light, and as previously said by many, can be read as a stand-alone story. It's set in Portland Oregon, but the physical setting is practically invisible. The two main characters are each lonely men; Evan does mid-distance truck driving for a living, which takes him out of town three days a week and Georgie does as a high-end, expensive sex work out of a company called Paddles. Evan's still recovering from being dumped when his ex went to Hollywood to Make It Big (tm) and Georgie thought the rich ex-client he'd become attached to was going to leave his wife so they could be together.
They meet at a New Years Party thrown by friends, and, after some confusion and various obstacles, have a happy ever after of their very own.
How they get there is, of course, the meat of the story, and I'm unwilling to give lots of spoilers. I can, however, say a few things about the characters, the writing, and the story.
I like the texting back and forth. It felt realistic and allowed for Evan and Georgie to remain in touch when they were physically separate. One thing that bugged me here was that there wasn't any tagging, so it was occasionally hard to tell who'd said what, in the texts. I liked the characters taking the time (even if it was short) to assess how they felt about being in a relationship with the other person - sure, they were attracted immediately, but they actually thought about what they wanted from their potential future together *and discussed it* with each other. I liked that at the point of greatest uncertainty for one character, we-the-reader were never in doubt about the other character's reaction.
I did think that Georgie was fantastically naive about a few things, but he's still very young (and when did 34 become old?), and he was able to bounce back from the consequences of his naivete with aplomb and grace, so it all works out well in the end.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and found it a fun, if lightweight, read.
~*I was lucky enough to receive this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*~
I have to say, I haven't read these books in order, I read the first few and then for some reason, didn't pick up the rest then I saw this one eligible for review so I jumped at the chance because I enjoy this author. And hello.... have you seen this cover!?! First, let me say that I"m not really big on rent boy romances, I usually skip them, but Georgie was a high-end escort and so very easy to like... You could tell that even though money may have been his biggest motivation in the beginning, he longed for affection and someone to come home to. And Evan, he was so sweet and understanding, patient and protective, he was perfect. He met Georgie at a mystery party of his friends who'd surprised all their guests with being witnesses to them being married on New Years Eve, his friends dragged him to it just as Georgies friends dragged him as well, not expecting to find one another they surprisingly hit it off and at first I thought Georgie might have ruined it. Kind of, let me push you away before you have a chance to reject me, and really.... not many people would choose to overlook the whole "prostitution" thing so easily. But Evan... did I say he was amazing? Cuz he was! Georgie also has an opportunity to follow his dream and it takes him to New York for a couple weeks but; a bad proposition and a horrible health scare, he runs back home to Evan, where he's eagerly awaiting his baby to come home. The relationhip between these two was genuine and believable, I feel like they complimented each other well and I"m really looking forward to going back and reading the ones in this series I accidentally skipped over. Very well written, very sweet story, very good read. Thanks for the opportunity!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Evan is a truck driver who hasn’t had been in a relationship since his boyfriend left a couple years ago; he desires a long-term settled relationship. Georgie is a high-end escort boy who aspires to be a fashion designer and believes the only relationship he will find is as a kept boy of a rich client. They meet when they attend a party that each was encouraged to attend by mutual friends.
Georgie masks his true feelings behind his big persona and tries to push Evan off not trusting he would really want Georgie, the person. Their friends intervene to open the communication lines between them and once they start talking, the real Georgie appears and believes in Evan’s desire to have a relationship with the true Georgie. I liked both of these guys and enjoyed the slow build up to their relationship, but once again in this series, the story resolved too quickly; I always want more and here it really was a quick wrap up with a little twist that was a bit too predictable.
This is book 9 in the More Than Friends series and I have been reading them out of order. I previously read Best Chance, book 6 Chance and Vinnie’s story, and I was glad about that because they had a big event in this book that I could enjoy more. There were several couples from prior books I had not read yet that played important roles in this one and while it didn’t detract from this story, I wish I had read those books before this one just so I could enjoy seeing them in their relationships. I will be reading the others in this series.
(This story was received free in return for an honest review via the Goodreads Don't Buy my Love program.)
Obviously I'm a glutton for punishment. After loving Ms. Grace's original three stories in this series (and her first few published works), I keep subjecting myself to these so-so follow-ups. Each time, I hope to be as impressed as I was with her earlier tales, instead I'm left feeling let down.
Georgie was so much fun and incredibly lively in other books. He was sassy, and I adored his character each time he appeared. Finally he gets his story, his HEA just like all his friends around him, but here he's dull and boring. Where did his humor go? I get that he's ready to throw in the towel on the life he's been living, but he lost all his humor along the way.
Fresh to the continuing storyline (these stories really do need to be read in order) is Evan, a truck driver sweet on Georgie's femme boi ways. Evan was...well, not perfect, but his character felt stronger, and way more realistic than Georgie's.
Again, I got confused on the multitude of side characters. I'd forgotten who's who and the author gave little to no back history and recall to them. Course I also jumped from book 6 to book 9, so there that, but there were plenty of characters from those earlier books. I remembered names, but no much else about them.
Then, there's that dreaded present tense and first person POV. Without Georgie's flamboyant mannerisms, both he and Evan often sounded the same. While some sections of the story were written with lovely emotional backing, a lot of it just fell flat.
All in all, a cute storyline to the series, and I'm happy that Georgie found his man.
This book was provided for free by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 9 in a series but can be read as a standalone. However, there is a lot of name dropping from previous books, so the beginning especially can be overwhelming. Once past the first few chapters, though, it really becomes the story of Evan and Georgie.
Georgie is a rent boy who is interested in fashion. His dream is to go into fashion and to live with his love Theo, who is in a loveless marriage with a woman. Georgie is then devastated to learn that Theo will be moving away. Evan is a commercial truck driver who was last in a relationship 2 years ago. He's scarred from that breakup and doesn't really date or even hook up with anyone. They meet at the New Year's Eve party of mutual acquaintances. There is some insta-attraction, but the relationship isn't all smooth sailing. Georgie continues to work as a rent boy because he wants to save enough money for the future. Evan doesn't understand his need to work as a rent boy and finds it difficult to share, but doesn't feel that he can ask for exclusivity so early in a relationship.
After the beginning where I felt lost because there were a lot of names of couples (from previous books), I really go into the story of Georgie and Evan. I could understand what they were both going through. And I loved the little text exchanges that they had when Evan was on the road. I would give this 3.5 stars, because it was missing that little something that would make it more memorable.
**I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.** This was a story about Evan and Georgie. They meet on New Years Eve and seemed to have that instant love. As far as the characters, Evan the hot truck driver I really liked. He was looking for a relationship and was lonely. Seemed to be a great honest guy. Georgie was a prostitute that wanted the same thing, a relationship. Did I think they were a good pair, not really. They seemed so different it wasn't working for me. Even though as a couple I wasn't thrilled, the story it self was good. It was realistic and I will check out more of this series. Though I did love the cover! Sherry
This story was somewhat patched together for me. I really liked Evan’s character. I felt he was very real and honest. Then you have Georgie, who is a prostitute working his way to saving up enough in order to develop his own clothing line. I felt much closer to Evan than I did to Georgie, but I did like how they developed their relationship. It felt real. However, the climaxes of the story were somewhat strange. You have Georgie’s clothing aspirations and then you have a super strange twist at the end, that for me, kind of came out of nowhere. Even though I felt that these characters were fairly realistic, it did seem they made a very odd couple. Overall, I enjoyed the story – I just wished that it hadn’t been so rushed. ~AvidReader

3.5 stars, rounded to 4 because I liked Evan so much
Looking for Home by Aria Grace is the 9th entry in the series by the author. Although characters carry over from prior stories, the book is a standalone and it’s not necessary to read the previous books. That being said it did take me a bit to get into the story because I didn’t have the back stories of some of the secondary characters featured. It wasn’t terrible; I just had to work a bit to keep them straight. Georgie is a rent boy, saving money to fund a career in fashion. Evan is a long haul truck driver who is recovering from a bad relationship in his past. The two men meet at a New Years Eve party and have a rocky start to their relationship. There are problems that need to be overcome (Georgie’s dickish behavior at the initial meeting, Georgie’s career both present as a prostitute and potential as a fashion designer, a major health scare) but everything works out in the end for a HEA for the couple. It was a good, quick story that was an enjoyable afternoon read.
I was given a copy of the book free by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.
Georgie is a high class escort and is invited to a NYE party by his friends. Evan, a long distance truck driver is also invited to the same party, which turns out to be a wedding of their friends. Evan and Georgie meet but at the end of the evening there is a misunderstanding and they part not on the best of terms. I liked this story. Georgie trying to follow his dreams and Evan very supportive of him. I am not sure I could have been so supportive if my partner continued to be an escort while we dated. Georgies New York experience was so sad coupled with the news of his diagnosis. I like that Evan was there to support him when he got back to Portland. I hope that this story might run as a secondary story through the next books in the series, I dont know I haven't read them, as this was just the beginning of this couple's story and there could be alot more to be told.
The author provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Georgie, a highly paid escort, longs for the kind of loving relationship his friends have. Evan, a truck driver, has been avoiding society since he was dumped by his ex-boyfriend. They meet at a surprise wedding on New Year's Eve and make a connection. I suspect I would have enjoyed the story more had I read the first 8 installments in the series. Reading this book as a stand alone left me wondering about the significance of the many characters who made cameo appearances throughout the story. I was left with the impression that the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more and there could have been more tension between the main characters. Even with this caveat, the writing is solid and the story is entertaining. A good read for a cold winter evening and an incentive to read the series from the beginning.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This was through the DBML program of the M/M Romance Group at Goodreads.
This was the first book I have read by this author and even though it is part of a series of books I read it as a standalone. Had the title of the book not given away that this was part of a collection of stories about friends, I would not have known. Too many series I find rely on being read in order to get the most from each book. Not this book. The characters and the story flow with only minimal explanation about other characters necessary by the author. The story itself is touching and characters interesting. I admit I have a soft spot for the HEA style of romance and this story has just the right amount of angst, tears and laughs. I found the authors writing style easy to read and well-constructed. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it as a standalone or as part of the series.
