This third book in the beloved Rosemont series (but easily read as a stand-alone) finds Mayor Maggie Martin knee-deep in the financial problems facing Westbury. With a stagnant investigation into the fraud and embezzlement that brought the town to the brink of bankruptcy, Maggie needs results—now. The bad guys, however, are always one step ahead, with bribes and blackmail at their disposal.
Her late husband’s mistress also has an ace to play against Frank Haynes and his cronies. But the woman’s plan for revenge may be derailed by her daughter’s sudden illness. Will Haynes slip through the net once again?
Meanwhile, Maggie is busy planning her wedding as Roman forms an unlikely alliance with a litter of kittens. And Rosemont’s attic gives up its secrets; some welcome, some not. While Maggie delights in a newly discovered collection of vintage silver, Frank Haynes is on a mission to establish his claim to Rosemont. Surprisingly, his cold heart may not be impervious after all.
USA Today Bestselling Author Barbara Hinske is an attorney who recently left the practice of law to pursue her career as a full-time novelist. She inherited the fiction gene from her father who wrote mysteries when he retired and told her a story every night of her childhood. She and her husband share their own Rosemont with two adorable and spoiled dogs. She is besotted with decorating, entertaining, cooking and gardening. Now that her novel The Christmas Club has been made into a Hallmark Channel movie, she is completely star-struck and thrilled to have her work on the screen.
I’m a bit obsessed with these books now. The first two had the audiobook available on ku but this one was the kindle book only on ku but I still powered through it, finding time to read one more page. It’s been a while since I finished a book in a day.
I’m just so fascinated by Frank. It’s so interesting to have a baddie who is a bit of an enigma; he’s got a soft spot for animals and single mums, yet he’s kind of bitter and vindictive too. Can’t figure him out at all.
Beautiful cosy romance with a mild thriller running through
The Rosemont series is beautiful from the setting to all the character. Whilst undeniably romantic there is a mild thriller that runs through it to keep you turning page after page, each series leaving you with a cliffhanger Totally absorbing and so well written I have become an avid fan of this series and Barbara Hinske Kerry Kennedy Author
Now you've done it, Barbara Hinske! Yup...I'm dying to know what happens next!! On Audible, I listened to Uncovering Secrets: Book 3 in the Rosemont series, and it held my attention from beginning to end. The entire series stays with you long after you are finished. Drawing Close: Book 4 in the Rosemont series will be my next listen! :-) I've written reviews for each of the books in this wonderful series if you would like to read them on Audible, so to prevent saying again what I've already stressed over and over, I'll try to make this one short. I cannot recommend the author, Barbara Hinske, and narrator, Dina Pearlman enough. They are absolutely amazing. The series is my favorite of any I have listened to. The writing and narration are equally fantastic, and readers/listeners who are lovers of Women's Fiction will deeply enjoy every book in the series. You must start with book 1, as you will have a deeper appreciation and understanding for the people and events in the books. Barbara Hinske also just released Bringing Them Home: Book 5 in the Rosemont series...it is not YET on audible, but I'm sure it will be soon enough. I rate this book 5 stars, just as I have with the others before this one. I can confidently say you will fall in love with Rosemont and the people of Westbury. This series has everything you could ask for!
Uncovering Secrets: The Third Novel in the Rosemont Series is by Barbara Hinske. This book is very easy to read and can be read in a couple of hours. This makes it excellent for summer reading. It is well-written with great believable characters and a plot full of twists. Maggie Martin is finally engaged to John Allen and her children are very happy for her. Now, Maggie just has to hand feed six baby kittens, plan an Easter celebration for the town, try to find proof of who embezzled from the city’s pension fund, find a solution to the budget problem, and plan a wedding. That is no problem for Maggie with all her friends and family who take on many of the jobs without her having to ask. Loretta Nash, Maggie’s first husband Paul’s mistress, had moved to Westbury to work for Frank Haynes, councilman and business owner. She had no intention of contacting Maggie until she came upon some evidence concerning the embezzlement. Getting the information to Maggie is harder than she though. Her daughter, Nicole, has developed a rare kidney disease which requires dialysis and hospital stays. Loretta has her hands full. Her other daughter, Marissa, has developed a friendship with Maggie’s granddaughters. What will Maggie do when she finds out about the girls’ friendship and finds out that Nicole is Paul’s daughter. The story of Rosemont just gets better and
More mystery! More intrigue! More romance! More intense relationships! More of everything! Book 3 in The Rosemont Series delivers readers with new dynamics on all fronts. Maggie discovers unbelievable antique silver treasures in the attic at Rosemont. New bonds of friendship are formed between unlikely sources. The investigation into the Pension Plan fiasco may finally be gaining ground. Frank Haynes still remains as archenemy #1 while playing Mr. Nice Guy. There is a much anticipated beautiful wedding between Maggie & John Allen. As they are flying away on their honeymoon, Maggie uncovers what may be the biggest secret yet! Truly a great read that makes you greatly anticipate the next installment!
This was the third book in the Rosemont Series. The story is of an older lady who finds out that her newly dead husband has embezzled lots of money from the college he was president of and had a mistress. He did leave a rather large house to her in the middle the country so she moves there and starts a new life. Over five books she settles in there and tries to become involved in a country life and we see different people come and go like the mistress, and her children trying to figure out why she has moved there.
You will read this book in one day. A must read. Third book in series
This book continues with the chaos and obstacles that Maggie Martin and the people of Westbury are trying to get resolved. There are antagonist in the story who cause the storyline to twist and turn. The mysteries of Rosemont are starting to slowly unravel. There is so much to tell. You just need to begin by reading the first book and continue reading the saga of Rosemont. I can't wait to start reading book 4.
Some secrets are better left covered up. Maggie certainly has her share of good ones and bad ones. She takes them all in stride. Course it helps to have the support of your loving husband. I love this family and I love their love of animals. Course being a vet, you would think they would love animals, but so many others also show their love. But people in this small town also love their neighbors and friends. Westbury is my kind of place!
Cozy, small town filled with genuine, loveable (and not so loveable) characters, all thoughtfully conceived and well defined. Rosemont is the place dreams are made and lived. Maggie, main character and unlikely mayor, her devoted new hubby John, her family, friends and enemies are faced with secrets to unravel. You won't want this book to end!
Another nice read but shouldn't you be able to tell when the book is ending? I honestly had no idea! I love these people but I need a resolution to the town's woes and the people at fault to get what's coming to them... Soon!. I have no problem with the storyline revelling in another direction after that but, enough is enough.
the first book I received for free and I was sad when I neared he end as it was an excellent story of intrigue and hope and had me turning page after page Then I discovered book 2/3/4/5/and 6 I have just finished book 3 and half way through book 4 the only thing I'm a bit sad about is at the end of each book you are invited to read that days diary for Maggie but as of yet I haven't received any
Wedding plans fill the book. It's not as simple as Maggie intended to begin but she is the mayor. Will she stay as mayor? Her 2 granddaughters made a friend in Rosemont. Maggie finds out a surprise. Another Easter event at Rosemont. Frank is full of surprises. He helps a out a boy in need. Will she take off for a honeymoon and where?
I'm just getting to book three and I'm having trouble coming up for air. Can't wait to start the next book in the series. The characters have become friends that I look for everyday. I highly recommend this series to all who love comfort food and good books.
Really getting into t mobilehese stories & enjoying them so much. I was so involved in this one, that I was completely surprised when I saw The End. Looking forward to getting started on the next one.
Reading the books in a row is a fun way to do this. I enjoy reading about Maggie and the ins and outs of her life. I am really interested in seeing whether Frank turns into a good guy or not.
Every bit as enjoyable as the ones that came before. I love the story line - family, politics, community, intrigue, and of course love. Can’t wait to start the next one.
Continued intrigue and twists. Who really owns Rosemont? How will Paul Martin's two families interact? Can they prove who caused the financial crisis for the town? All this and a de!ightful tale of small town living.
Once again, this story doesn't disappoint. There is no downtime in this book, it keeps moving forward just like the preceding ones! Thank you Barbara Hinske!!!
Light and serious at the same time. Romantic and fun. Also a bit of a mystery. I can’t wait to read the next one to find out what Frank is up to and what happens with Loretta and Maggie.
Enjoyed reading book #3. I love reading books that make me feel that I am in the book watching all that is going on. Very easy to read and love how the author makes this fiction book seem so true to life!! Can't wait to read book #4.
This is such an easy series to read. It definitely keeps your attention. Sometimes the characters are a little overly polite for me but that’s ok. You definitely want to root for the main character & maybe even one of the bad guys sometimes!
This book was really good. It was like looking at a present and wondering what was in it? As the story and characters begin to build, so does the anticipation of what might happen next! I can’t wait to start the fourth installment of this series.
Maggie is ready to take on a forensic accounting case for an old friend and resign as Mayor. Well, surprises start falling in her lap and life changes again. Weddings, silver, and family keep things moving in this latest adventure.
There are interesting lines in the general story about back room old boys political bad guys. Those are fairly true to what I have known in a few town in reality.
Loving this series! Lots of little surprises with suspenseful undercurrents. The descriptive way that Barbara Hinske writes make for a read that places the reader right amongst the characters. A good CLEAN series…still highly recommend!
I have come to love Mayor Maggie and her family. But it seems like someone is always out to sabotage her and her happiness. The whole embezzlement thing just drags on and on. I really hope Maggie & John find happiness forever at Rosemont.
