Fraternization between guests and employees at the Diamond Isle Resort is against the rules.
However, rules mean nothing when it comes to matters of the heart.
Phillip Warrington is smart, sexy, and goal-oriented. He has always had his life planned out. But none of those plans involved falling for a wildly adventurous employee at the resort. She liberates him in ways he never thought possible—with methods that his parents would never approve. But he can control his yearnings, right?
Maggie Fairchild knows the season is almost over. With her plan to take to the seas only months away, she wasn't expecting Phillip, one of those off-limit kinds of boys, to stumble onto her path and steal her heart. Between steamy kisses and late-night moments near the ocean, Maggie finds herself caught in a riptide of passion, one she never anticipated. But who’s ever prepared for meeting the greatest love of your life?
With summer coming to an end, Maggie and Phillip take their relationship to the next level before they have to say goodbye. Can their budding romance be enough to survive the pulling tides of change, or will they drift apart before they even have a chance to explore what could have been?

Two of my favourite people and authors writing a book together? Yes, please! I was really excited about this book when I first heard about it! I love both these authors books, so I couldn't wait to read one that they wrote together! I signed up for the Blog Tour as soon as I heard about it and started reading my ARC as soon as I received it! This book was cute! Like, seriously cute! I can't think of a better word to describe it lol! I also wasn't 100% sure what to expect from it after I read the synopsis, but it was very beautiful and developed so well! The plot also really surprised me! I wasn't expecting the characters to be so different, but for their relationship to be so beautiful! There were also a few twist and turns in the plot too, and I didn't see some of them coming, especially a big one near the end! I just loved the plot, and the ending to the book was so beautiful and perfect for the characters! The characters were also amazing! Phillip was the main male character, and he was controlled in every aspect of his life by his mother and father! They expected Phillip to act in a certain way because his family had money and their name was known! Phillip was oblivious to this, but he became more rebellious as this book progressed and he realised how much his parents controlled him! I loved Phillip! I loved him even more as he became more confident and in control of his life! He grew a lot in this book and this made me really happy because he deserved to do what he wanted and live his life the way he wanted too! Maggie was the main female character, and I loved her! She was so carefree and cute! She also had a different outlook on life than probably any other character I've read! It was very enlightening because she looked at everything differently! Maggie also didn't think before she did things and she would do anything and everything once lol! She was exactly the kind of person that Phillip needed to show him how to live life and show him what he was missing! Maggie also wanted to get out there and explore the world and see and experience things that were different and out of the ordinary! I loved that about her! I also loved that this book was written from both Phillip and Maggie's point of view! I guess it had to be because of the plot and character divide! It also expanded the plot! I'm assuming that one author wrote Maggie's point of the view and the other wrote Phillip's! I honestly couldn't tell which author wrote which point of view because both flowed so well together! I love when that happens with co-authors! I'm also unsure whether this book is a standalone! I definitely see potential for a prequel book for two secondary characters, but I'm not sure if the authors plan to write one for them! I really hope they do! I love the cover for this book! You see how well it suits the book after you read it! It's so pretty and I can't wait to see it in paperback! Big thank you to Sonya and Candace for an ARC of Love Always, and for having me on the Blog Tour!
Oh, be still, my foolish beating heart... I just finished reading a book today. I thought I'd give it a day or two before writing a review, but I realized I couldn't wait another 24 hours to write what I feel. So here it goes...
She was different from all the girls he was accustomed to. She was the sunshine that brightened up his dimly lit world. She crashed and burned and still looked at life in a positive way. She was a spitfire. She was everything he ever wanted. Except, she couldn't be his.
He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He had class, elegance and breeding. He usually followed the rules to please his mother. Deep inside, he wanted to get away from all of it. When he finally met Maggie, things changed. Suddenly there's light at the end of the tunnel. Suddenly, it's okay to break rules. Suddenly, the pangs and cravings for freedom always hounded him. Suddenly, he craved for Maggie.
It was one great summer and they were bound to part ways in the end. In this age of technology and Apples, they could have opted for e-mail messages, text, Skype or Facebook. But no. Hand written letters were all they got. And that's how they kept in touch.
Love Always, is a feel-good romantic story about a rich guy falling for a poor girl screaming "it's you and me against the world," and their love defying all odds. Meet Phillip, the 18-year old son of a successful business mogul running a Fortune 500 company whose life changed when he saw Maggie, the orange-haired girl who was always in a state of perpetual sunshine.
But of course, their lives weren't always a bed of roses. Somehow, the thorns surrounding them managed to hurt them, brought them pain and tears and holes in their hearts.
I loved all parts of this book. From the moment Phillip started his tennis lessons, to avoiding an ex-girlfriend. I loved how Miss Hoops was able to persuade Silver Spoon to go skinny-dipping. I loved how their letters arrived at their footsteps and relive their perfect summer. I loved how it all ended. Gosh, I loved how I gushed the entire time I read this book!
This book is by the super duo, Candace Knoebel and Sonya Loveday, who had managed to make me go crazy and act like a teen while reading. To others, they may seem a simple book, but the impact it conveyed was ferocious. It hit all the high notes. It sent me soaring with happiness, especially with those hand-written love letters. It is my hope that Knoebel and Loveday would continue working together, writing beautiful stories like this.
This book was amazing! I loved everything about it. The characters, the setting, the storyline. It was so well done, I just couldn't put it down.
The book tells the story of Maggie and Philip, two people who come from completely different worlds. They are polar opposites and yet they are the perfect match. Maggie is a fisherman's daughter with a big heart and even bigger dreams. She is a free spirit who lives for fun and adventure. She wants to sail the seas and see all that the world has to offer. Philip is the son of a business mogul who is expected to follow in his fathers footsteps. He has lived a life by a tightly organised schedule and tries to please his parents but never seems to succeed. He is slowly suffocating under the weight of responsibility his family is piling on him. He has never known true happiness and doesn't even know what he really likes besides what he has been told to like. All that changes when he meets Maggie. She challenges him to step out of his comfort zone and to take a walk on the wild side. To fight against the chains his parents have imprisoned him in and to finally live his life. These two had fantastic chemistry. There were so many things standing in their way, from Philip's family to Maggie's free nature. Their relationship didn't take off straight away and I have to say I loved this. This book has to be one of the most realistic summer romances I have ever read about. They had so many obstacles to over come and dreams to realise first. They had to work for their happily ever after.
Loveday and Knoebel have written a moving and captivating book. So emotional and heart wrenching. I cried so many times. This book ripped out my heart. And it has such a great message, especially where Philip's story is concerned. It tells you to fight for what you love, to never live under someones thumb, and to follow your heart. As Maggie says:
"The only power we had over life was how we chose to live it"
In regards to the writing, it was superb, the words just flowed across the page. You will have no trouble getting sucked into this one.
I don't know what else I can say other that READ THIS BOOK!! The perfect summer read, I cannot recommend this enough.
Love Always by Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel is a wonderful story about how love, how "first love", inspires a young man to find his independence. On the very first page we meet Phillip Warrington, an eighteen year old soon heading off to college and who thinks of his mom as “Mother” (with a capital M) and his father as,yep, "Father". I think that alone gives the reader a sense of Phillip. He’s a young man raised in a privileged lifestyle, one that isolates him and one that hasn’t given him the tools to stake any claim for freedom, which he desperately wants.. When Phillip meets Maggie it’s obvious that she is his guide forward, that she will help him reach that goal. Maggie, a local girl in the setting where we first meet these Phillip, a Hampton’s resort. Maggie is fearless and undeniably fun - traits that don’t seem to be in Phillips DNA at all. Maggie represents the 98%, looking at a future doing what she loves but clearly never on the track to find a place in the Warrington family’s world.
Now, at first the story moved a bit slow for me. I was a bit worried that the age of the characters and the fact that Phillip was just not inspiring me, would mean the story would drag but that was simply not the case. Phillip did eventually grow on me, but he is so kowtowed by his family, by social expectations, it was a bit of a tough sell. Who was inspiring was Maggie and her pull and desire to get to know Phillip. She had me sticking in there and trying to see what she saw. She’s a really strong character and she lifts up a good part of the story just being who she is, wise beyond her years. Maggie is astute and she shares her observations, her hopes, in a kind and seasoned voice.
The writing and the story delivery really grabbed my attention. First, we get the story through both their eye’s, which I always love. Secondly, things switch up, and then we get the story through letters. I adore this style. Its something in the re-telling of events and what the characters choose to share. Finally, the dialogue is really well-done. The characters are young and the authors capture their youth. With Phillip, his conversations with his family, the dialogue completely captures their relationships to each other. The dialogue also shows us how the characters evolve; the Phillip at the beginning was NOT the Phillip at the end. Maggie’s genuine nature continued to shine through. There are a myriad of secondary characters, some to hate and some to love - best friends, new friends and social vixens. All adding to the storyline and building out our 2 main characters.
Love Always is a delightful read and has an ending that I never saw coming. I’ve read a Sonya Loveday novel but this is my first book by Candace Knoebel. These authors have found a strong voice in their writing partnership.
I was gifted an ARC copy of this book via the authors for an honest review.
I’ve read and loved Sonya’s is Six books but to my horror and embarrassment nothing of Candace’s before (that will now be rectified.) So when I saw these two have collaborated I was intrigued to see what they would come up with. l have not been disappointed at all!!
Philip was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a stick up his arse I was desperate to remove by 30% in. Although being brought up with money, Phillip is very much under mommy’s thumb. It made me at times want to shake him and just shout GROW UP!! being on the outside looking In though, that’s easier said than done.
Then Philip meets Maggie… Fireworks explode, the world shifts on its axis, and his heart stops … well, ok maybe none of those things actually happened. But meeting Maggie was the start of Philip becoming his own man. While he is straight laced and not one to rock the boat and make waves Maggie is air- light, carefree, and is the complete opposite, but they balance each other out perfectly.
As in all classic fairytales there is usually a villian, normally in the style of the stepmother. This time though it’s the actual mother and a conniving witch (figuratively not literally) scheming to keep the pair apart and very nearly succeed ( cue me in tears at this point.) However true love prevails and with the help of a trusty friend, lots of grovelling, Philip and his Maggie are reunited.
I love this book and was gripped right the way through. I cannot thank Sonya and Candace enough for this story. I only hope they write many more together. They clearly have found a recipe for Success!!
As I told Candace, this is the perfect coming of age story filled with enough twists and anguish to make it not run of the mill. I just want to shout out about this book from the rooftops, I can’t wait for everyone to read it.
I was instantly intrigued with this story just by the synopsis alone. The first character I was introduced to was the well-mannered, put together Phillip. At first I was thrown off, not because I didn’t like him but simply because he seemed to be very sheltered in his little “silver spoon” world. His days are pre-planned by his mother and whatever mother dearest says, goes. Did I mentioned that he’s 18 years old? No? Okay he’s an 18 year old “silver spoon” teen that does everything his mother says. Yeah, that kind of threw me off, but it didn’t stop me from continuing reading this story, if anything it intrigued me more.
Now when I was introduced to Maggie, I was instantly smitten with her. She’s a carefree, dreamer with an infectious laugh. She made me want to lay on the ground and watch the clouds roll by. Maggie is working at the resort Phillip is staying at for the summer. The moment they meet, Phillip is so confused he doesn’t know what to make of maggie and her carefree ways. One thing leads to another, and they’re both hanging out every chance they get. Phillip gets to experience a lot of things he has never experienced in his 18 years of life.
This story was sweet, funny, and such an enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to reading more by these two authors. :)
The only part where I found that it was a little slow for me was the chapters that included the letters.
If you’re looking for an end of the summer read with a HEA. This is the way to go.
WOW!!!! I loved.. Such a beautiful story... Review: Ahhhhh...this story was so sweet and heart warming... Although there were times in which I wanted to scream at these characters, but watching their journey through life...learning how to finally take control of their own lives was inspirational and totally moving. Love Always captured me from the beginning as we dive in to Phillip's background and boy was he a case that was in much need of help...and I seriously said I was so happy when Maggie entered the picture. She offered so much to Phillip, things he really needed to become the guy...man he needed to be... And Maggie...hehehehe...what a free spirit..so many things about her that I myself wish I could do.. so, how do these two fit together?? I gotta say...Love Always is a breath-taking story of two people that truly have to discover themselves in order to really find that happily ever after. There are moments in this story that had me so angry and I seriously worried on whether things would end the way I wanted them. I really enjoyed both of these characters thoroughly...their tale was filled with humor and a beautiful budding romance... I highly recommend that you pick it up and fall in love with them as I did...
I am a hopeless romantic, there is no denying it and Love Always gave me everything that I thirst for as a romantic. Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel did such an excellent job creating Ed and Hannah, that you couldn't help but fall in love with them.
The story was easy to read and the characters were easy to fall in step with. The story was a little predictable, but sometimes we need predictability in life. But it was still a good story that will make you ooh and ahh.
Love Always was a good read. It started off a bit slow, but it picked up and I breezed through the last half of the book.
To begin with I did consider not finishing this book. Phillip irritated me. I loved Maggie's outlook on life, but Phillip was so weak and gullible. I hated how he let his mother dictate his life and it almost went on slightly too long without change.
Anyway, finally he started to stand up for himself. His letters with Maggie were sweet and from this point on the book held my interest better. Phillip grew up and finally changed--mostly. There were sections that were predictable and he was still a little too naive at time, but I was glad he had Ed.
Overall I can't complain too much when I got it free. It was an easy read about two characters from different worlds seizing control of their life and dreams. It did keep me entertained, so if the blurb interests you you might want to give it a go.
Love Always I found to be an enjoyable read. The storyline for Maggie and Philip was a good one. Philips life growing up wealthy leaves alot to be desired, it just goes to show having money doesnt make you happy it can be used to constantly keep you toeing the mark. The book had its ups and down, but a HEA in the end. I would recommend it to others.

This book was quite a while on my TBR. So happy I had an opportunity to read it. It’s my first book by both authors. Certainly won’t be the last.
This book simply was amazing. I loved everything about it and couldn’t put it down. I was drawn and pulled into a story from start to finish.
It’s a story about Maggie and Philip, two people who come from completely different worlds. They are total opposites but together they just make sense and click. I think on some level they understand each other. I loved how they challenged each other and could learn a lot from one another. Maggie is a fisherman's daughter with a big heart, big dreams and free spirit, always ready for an adventure. Philip on the other hand is the son of a business mogul, Everything is just organized for him and he is expected to follow in his fathers footsteps. He is contained, always with supervision and whole his life is planned ahead. That makes him suffocate and think what he wants to do with his life and who he really wants to become. I love their chemistry and connection; the way they fought for their happiness and against the obstacles.
The writing was superb, the words just flowed across the page. You will have no trouble to get into the story and it will just pull you quickly. It’s the perfect read! Read this book.
THIS girl *points at myself* was so insanely lucky to receive an ARC of Love Always, by Candace and Sonya. I’ve known these ladies for years now and I absolutely adore their stories. They always manage to enthrall me with their worlds and keep me coming back for more over and over. Even though they tear out my heart and stomps on it – multiple times. So when they announced they wrote a book together… Well, it was a given I would read it. And boy, am I glad I did! Bring forth the tissues my friends, because you will definitely need them before the book is over. Fair warning *smiles*
Maggie is the daughter of a fisherman and she has a free spirit. In a way. Let me explain. She sees the world in a different way than others might. She appreciates the small and big things. Embraces every opportunity she gets tossed her way. She’s like a wild horse – running free. She’s also afraid of letting her heart go. She guards the one thing that is most precious to her and in doing so, she has closed herself of from one of the most beautiful things in this world. Love. It’s not that she isn’t capable of loving, she is. She loves her father, her friends. She loves the work she does with the kids, but she has closed herself off from falling in love. Afraid of being trapped, of being hurt.
Phillip is the son of a wealthy family. His entire life consists of schedules, appointments, lunches, doing things he would rather be free off. Every detail of his life is planned. By his mother. All his life he has done what was expected by him. Doing tennis because his mother proclaimed that was what a proper young man should be learning, wearing the right clothes, buying the right things. Everything to behave like a son of a wealthy businessman should behave. For Phillip this has been normal, the way it was supposed to be. But one afternoon, he gets enough. Being forced to take a walk with the beautiful but spoiled Sophia is more than he bargained for. She’s the daughter of a friend of the family. Also from a wealthy family, mind you. Phillip’s parents wouldn’t want him to be seen with anyone less than stellar. *rolls eyes*
And in comes Maggie. With her orange hair, her “who gives a shit” attitude and her rollerblades, she rolls right into Phillips life and tears it into tiny pieces. One by one, Phillip begins to realize that life can be so much more than plans, order and expectations.
But it isn’t only Phillip’s life that is changed. Remember I told you about Maggie being closed off from love? Something she chose herself, I might add. Phillip opens that door and forces Maggie to take a good look at her own life, her own decisions. Three weeks is suddenly way to little time.
As you know I stated earlier that I loved Sonya and Candace’s books separately. Each of them are unique and they have an amazing way to pull me in as a reader and make me go through the whole rollercoaster of angst, horror, gasping, anger, hurt, joy, love and utter surprise. Yes, they have more than once knocked me over with a feather –or quill if you like. There are messages from me to them where I have cursed at them for doing stuff to their characters. Other times I have cried my heart out (particularly The Summer I Fell, but that was also due to stuff happening in my own little world that collided with stuff that happened in that world.), and I have loved every second. Love Always, is just as good. Just as heart breaking, provocative and filled with love and hope as their individual stories. Except… In Love Always, they have taken the best from themselves and matched it. I cried. I cursed. I read 70% of it in one go. I couldn’t go to bed once I was done, because my heart was racing so badly. (No cliffhangers, I might add) The relationship between Maggie and Phillip is honest. It feels realistic, they leap off the pages and it felt like I knew them before the book was done. I got so caught up in the story that I actually yelled at my kindle when I found out what ******* was up to in the end (sorry, the name had to go LOL – spoilers you know *winks*). And OMG love letters. That was just a freaking awesome detail and I loved it every time I got to read one of them. It was a peek into their thoughts, their memories and it was beautiful.
Love Always, is a story about love, honesty. The pull between doing what everyone thinks you SHOULD do and what you WANT to do. Expectation, tradition and free will. Three words to describe this book? Expect the unexpected.
Got the Book By: Arc was given for an Honest Review
Rating: 5 Stars
Blurb: I’ve met boys like him before. Rich. Bored. Always wearing a silver-spooned smile. But there is something different about him that piques my curiosity. The way he looks at me, like he is staring through the bars of a gilded cage he’s never left. Like he is one breath away from suffocating beneath a mound of responsibilities. He is different from the rest because he doesn’t wear his money… his money wears him. I just don’t think he knows it yet.
She’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. She’s everything I’ve never been able to be. Carefree. Whimsical. A dreamer. Her laugh is infectious. She is irresistible. I can’t help but be drawn to her with an intensity that steals my breath and muddles my senses. I want to know her, need to know her, but how can I allow myself that liberty when I don’t have the freedom to make my own choices?
Phillip and Maggie think they have it all. Even though they come from opposite backgrounds, they each have bright futures paved out, with no distractions holding them back.
Until the fateful day they meet each other.
After a brief, adventurous time together in The Hamptons, Maggie and Phillip find themselves saying goodbye just as the spark of love flashes intensely between them. Can their budding connection be enough to survive the pulling tides of change, or will they drift apart before they even have a chance to explore what could have been?
Review
Phillip life was determined to be perfect. His mother had always plan a schedule for every day and everything in his life. He didn't make the choices he wanted until he meets Maggie. She is the opposite of Phillip. She is adventurous and a free spirit girl. They also came from different world, different status. While he was the son of a rich couple and soon to be the runner up CEO of his dad belongings, Maggie was a worker at one of Phillip’s resort and the daughter of a fisherman.
“You and I, we’re like fire and ice. We can coexist, bit we can never mingle together. Its self-destructive, Implosive or whatever.”
Even though they now they only have the until the end of summer to spend some time together, they can’t stay away from each other.
“She consumed me. My thoughts. My days. My everything. She made me want things I couldn't have. But wanted them anyway. And I wanted them with a blinding passion that crept into the shadows of my everyday life. She pushed me, but not in the same way as my mother. Not at all, because she only wanted me to accept who I really was. What I really wanted. What do I really want? I wanted her, and I couldn't have her. And realizing that was my breaking point.”
As the story continues and they go back to their life Phillip has to fight against his mother, his fiancee Sophia (determined by his mother) and the world for what he really wants.
I really enjoy every part of the book. I liked the part where Maggie and Phillip are apart but they write each other letters to keep in touch. Phillip is such a nice guy. He is very lovely and caring. I also enjoy Maggie because she has a fierce attitude but also has a heart. She have suffer with many events in her life but she is determined to get the best of everything.
The story is well written and it show us the point of view of both of the main character. The emotions and feelings that this book show are great and will make you love the book even more. It is a very heart warming story. Since I started to read I couldn't put it down. It was a great read. You must definitely read it too.
Love Always, is the first book that I have ever read from either Sonya Loveday or Candace Knoebel. I really had no idea what I was in for, but with the cover and blurb for this book I absolutely had to read it. I will admit that when I first started it though, I was honestly a little worried. It started off slow, and it wasn't holding my interest. For some reason this one was hard for me to get into, but I am glad that I stuck with it. Once things started to pick up a little, I thought that this was a really cute story and I enjoyed it a lot.
Phillip and Maggie both have their lives planned, and think that they know where they are headed. They come from completely different backgrounds, with him being from money while she isn't. Phillip is tired of having his every move planned for him, so when he meets Maggie in the Hamptons he enjoys the time he gets to sneak with her. Maggie knows that Phillip needs some fun in his life and to let loose, and she is surprised to find that she had him pegged all wrong. They begin to grow close and the more time they spend together, the deeper their connection grows. But just as they are starting to realize what is between them, life pulls them apart and their summer is over. Will their connection be enough to endure the time apart and the ways that their different lives pull them?
I really worried about liking these characters at first. Honestly I thought that they were a little weird and I wasn't digging them at all. Phillip first came off a bit creepy with his constantly talking about pleasing his mother and everything he did to try and be perfect for her. Maggie came off as completely odd with her less than conventional intro and first encounter with Phillip. I thought that they were naive and immature, and I didn't think that I was going to be able to continue. But then they started to get to know one another, and they both completely changed for me. Phillip came to life with the help of Maggie. The more time they spent together, the more I loved the side of him she brought out. She was bright and cheerful, and so full of life and fun. It was good to see her bring that to Phillip and get him to let loose some. These two connected right away, and I really liked that while at first glance they seemed to be so different, they were actually more alike than you would expect. They related so well to one another, and I enjoyed seeing their connection grow.
As this story continued, I really got pulled into everything that was happening and I didn't want to stop reading. Though it might have started off slow for me, I really liked these two and enjoyed seeing them both grow and change over the course of this story. They both matured and grew up, and I was really glad that I saw their journey take place. I thought that this book was really adorable and sweet, and I really liked their letters. This one really had everything I look for in a good love story, and I thought that these two were perfect for one another. If you are looking for a sweet coming of age story with some romance and angst, I would definitely recommend this story. Phillip and Maggie had their ups and downs and went through so much, but I can honestly say that I am so glad that I took a chance on two new to me authors here. I will definitely be looking for more from these two, and I hope that they decide to team up again in the future.

I started this book a while ago and I just was on such a paranormal kick that I couldn't sink myself into it. Luckily, Candace and Sonya have since updated it and this time I was completely ready to dive into it. As soon as I started it I felt like smacking myself for not falling in love last time because It was SUCH a great read.
This was a coming of age, falling in love, crazy romance type of book. I really loved it. A great change of pace from some of the novels on the market these days, very original.
Phillip and Maggie offer so much to each other and they truly are a breath of fresh air into each other's lives. We are never truly ready to meet someone who will cause such change by simply loving us. For these two those changes were for the better in most cases. The rest of it they weren't quite sure.
This was a story about truly looking deep inside yourself and discovering what in life really mattered to you. What made your heart race and made you, you. Maggie si such a free spirit and Phillip is the type or person who NEEDS a free spirit in his life. I adored them. Watching them fall in love left me swept away with the emotions. It was the perfect escape. Read it.
Fall in love.

When I signed up for this book I wanted to read it because of Sonya. I have read her Six Series and enjoyed it so far, so I wanted to try something else of hers. I had never read anything of Candace's, but if this book is any indication of her writing ability I will be checking out her other books. Love Always is about two different people coming together. It's not full of sex like a lot of books are now days. Philip and Maggie's relationship was more of a friendship then anything else. Maggie pushed Philip to discover who he really is. Maggie is a free spirited redhead who just wants to be free and love life. She's the daughter of a fisherman and works at a resort for the rich. Which is how her and Philip meet. I loved Maggie for the fact she did what she wanted to do, she didn't care about what others thought,s she just let it roll right off of her. Philip though is completely opposite. He's reserved, well educated, rule obeying, kind of man. He kept a schedule of where his mother told him where to be, until he met Maggie. She legitimately ripped up his schedule and told him to start living. His family was trying to force a life on him that he didn't want any part of. At the end of the summer Maggie and Philip went their separate ways. They wouldn't call, wouldn't text, wouldn't email each other, but they would put pen to paper. Which I am a huge fan of hand written letters. During the year they spend a part they grow closer through the letters. Philip becomes the adult he should be and stands up to his family, where Maggie wanders the world. I won't tell you of they end of together or not but I will tell you this book is worth the time to read. This book made me think about some things in a way I never have before. Here are some of my favorite quotes: ‘He was like watching the sun rise. Watching the rays of light extend over the blackened earth, illuminating all that you couldn’t see under the muted light of the moon. He was a comet I didn’t see coming.’ ‘It was as if she were the moon and I was the tide being pulled and pushed to create something magical. Maggie had whirlwinded her way into my life, setting me off course to bob against the ties that held me tightly anchored.’ “You’re my best friend, my soul mate, my everything, and thinking of a world without you in it makes me lose my breath. My heart races and I have to push my hand against it until it slows, telling myself I’m worrying over something that hasn’t happened. Won’t happen. Sounds crazy, right? But there it is, nonetheless.” “Every soul needs an anchor to keep them steady when the seas become too much.” “And that’s what’s great about it—the ocean—we’re all connected to it. It surrounds us. It feeds us. It sustains us. And no matter where I choose to land in the world, it will always be there. Just a drive, a flight, or a train ride away.”
There is literally no other word to describe this book but Adorable.
This book is Definitely a YA and this book definitely showed a sign of forever. From the beginning of the story up to the end I always felt the heavy anticipation. I mean, the trouble they went through and the distance they endure just to stay connected with each other should be held an example of what love is and what love should be. Two different worlds, two different personalities and two different lives became one because of fate and love.
Phillip is your normal rich guy, well, as far as normal for him could go. He is as clueless as a rat with everything outside his world and he is clueless about life like every other inmate. I find it very hard to think of what life could have been for him if Maggie have never intervene. He literally needs every help he can get because his parents is not the kind of people you can go to for life help. He was always pushed through things that doesn't make him happy but he just feel obliged to do so. Long story short, he is his parents puppet. Oh wait, more like he is his Mother's puppet. Can you imagine what actual real life rich people feels? It seems really awful.
Maggie is the kind of friend that would always hold your hand wherever and whatever you decide to do. Yes, she might've influenced Phillip a few and some things but she too was learning herself. She is a dreamer and I loved that about her. Her life was hard but all her dreams keep her up and strong and running. I have a sick feeling inside me that thinks that is what dreams are for, you know. They make you stronger and they motivate you and not the other way around.
I really felt passionate about reading this book. I actually had second thoughts on whether or not I was going to read it because there were a lot of not so great reviews but I was like, I have to read it cause the description was really good and I am really intrigued by it and then I was also lucky to have the ARC so there was no way I wasn't going to read it. And what do you know? I really enjoyed it and I even loved it. The characters were perfect. The plot was good and the love was inspiring. Though Phillip was my favorite in the book I still think he needs a little improvement and I love how he was portrayed. He was not like every other hero there is any other book. He isn't the kind of hero that is rich and acts like an asshole but he is the kind of hero that would definitely make you feel and more often than not you'd just want to smack him in the back of his head. Why? You have to find that out and read the book.
This is my first book from Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel and I must say that I am now a fan of both! Big 5 stars and love for this book!
As soon as I found out that Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel were writing a book together I pretty much did a happy dance. I've read books by both these authors and love them! Sometimes I hype a book up so much that it just leads me to be dissapointed. Luckily I was anything but dissapointed after reading Love Always,. Love Always, isn't just a contemporary romance...it's an epic romance. One that I can see myself reading over and over because it's beautiful and makes you feel all the right emotions. You get the story from both Phillip and Maggie's perspective and you get it in such a unique way that just works to make the story better.
Phillip is a rich guy spending his last summer before college in the Hamptons with his parents. His days and life are mapped out for him and he's just trudging along through his life without any passion...until he meets Maggie that is. Maggie is a refreshing contrast to his character. She lives her life knowing dreams are possible and sets out to do things that make her happy. This may seem like a combination that has been done before...summer romance between two people you wouldn't think would be attracted to each other... but it works. It works because the characters are complex and you care for them more and more the longer you read.
I love that this romance doesn't end at the conclusion of the summer like so many other summer romance novels do. You know the type, it's summer..they meet, they fall in love, happily ever after. Love Always, does take you through their summer together but it also shows you how their relationship changes and grows after summer ends. They each go to follow their own dreams and paths in life but vow to stay in each others lives..through letters. The letters that Phillip and Maggie write each other are sweet and endearing and honestly, just made me love these two even more. It's not all sunshine and roses for these two though. He's rich and she's not, his family and money control his life and she lets her dreams drive her, and the end of summer leaves them miles and miles apart so there's bound to be some ups and downs. The story wouldn't be as beautiful and wonderful as it is if everything was all up, up, up.
I could rave about this book forever, I just loved it that much. There aren't many romance novels that I would read more than once but like I said this one will be read again and again. The only thing I can compare it to are those movies that just tug on your heartstrings that you just can't help but watch over and over again...Dirty Dancing and Say Anything come to mind. If you're a fan of love and romance than I would say you need to pick up this book!
**I received a copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review**
Love Always by Candace Knoebal and Sonja Loveday ~ Review I am new to both authors and I was approached to read an ARC and leave an honest review. After reading the synopsis I knew that Love Always was a book I would enjoy, therefore I was a little surprised that it took me a while to get into it. I'm not sure what it was, but the beginning for me was a little slow going, however I continued and very pleased that I did. Once I found my reading groove, I rather enjoyed it. The story follows alternate POV's of Phillip and Maggie, with the characters taking you on their journey. Maggie is fiery and just goes with the flow and I liked her character immediately. She loves life, and has an open heart and loves to help others. Phillip is a trust fund rich kid and it took me a while to warm to him as I felt he was a very weak male character. He is controlled by everyone around him and is constantly told how and when to do everything. (However he does come into his own further in the book) Phillip's character changes the most throughout the book. You actually see how he grows and develops, which has everything to do with how Maggie reacts to him. I totally ended up loving Phillip. As I said I felt the book moved a little slow at the beginning, but the turning point for me was the lighthouse scene, at which point I could hardly put the book down. From that point on there was just the right amount of angst for me that gives you that feeling in your gut, insisting that you turn the page as quickly as you can. You need to know what's going to happen next. I loved the slow burn of the romance, and loved/hated the meddling that also went on throughout the book. (I don't want to spoil it for others, so I won't expand on this). There were quite a few twists and turns to the plot line which also kept me engaged. It is a stand alone read yet there is the potential for other characters within this book to have their own story, so who knows x this might happen and I would gladly read it if it did. Therefore I ended up really enjoying this read, and have given it 4 fantastic stars and I look forward to reading more from both of these authors xx Hayley @ Read Love Repeat
“I’d met boys like him before. Rich, Bored. Always wearing a silver-spooned smile. But there was something different about him that piqued my curiosity.”
“He was different from the rest because he didn’t wear his money, his money wore him.”
This is the story of Maggie and Philip. Philip’s life was pretty much planned out for him. His mother was a control freak and he had no say whatsoever on how he was to live his life. Maggie was free spirited and did what she pleased.
“Maggie was not your normal run-of-the-mill girl. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, however she wanted, and damn the consequences. She was everything I’d been raised to look away from.”
I felt horrible for Philip. The poor guy didn’t even know what he enjoyed doing. His whole life his mother told him what to wear, what activities he could participate in. He had no control over his life at all.
“People like Maggie they’re great people, but they aren’t our people. Do I make myself clear?”
“She consumed me. My thoughts. My days. My everything. She made me want things I couldn’t have. But I wanted them anyway. And I wanted them with a blinding passion that crept into the shadows of my everyday life.”
Maggie was a strong character and you could really feel all the emotions both of these characters went through in this book. Some parts of the story had my stomach in knots.
Every story needs an evil skank that you want to throat punch and this one had one. Sophia was a piece of works. I wanted to smack the crap out of her so many times it wasn’t even funny. She was just pure evil. I kept thinking how stupid Philip was for not taking a stand for himself and letting his mother and Sophia manipulate him.
The story was written really well and flowed effortlessly. I just felt a few things were very predictable and the ending felt a little rushed. Overall, I loved the connection between Philip and Maggie and loved how there was that slow build. The author took time for them to get to know and understand each other. You could really feel the connection they had.
Phillip takes a little warming too but ladies this mummy’s boy might just be worth the effort. I have nothing against a man that respects his mother – but Phillip has yet to shake off the spectre of a woman that does absolutely everything for him. He never questions anything she asks of him and at the age of eighteen I have to say he is a rare commodity but what happens when this golden child meets the sort of woman that his mother would never approve of – well wouldn’t you love for me to tell you! Maggie, has a spirit that Phillip could only ever dream of, she is cut from a very different cloth but there is something about this cheeky roller-bladed whiz that has his interest piqued – although he knows that his chances of ever bumping into her again are remote. Maggie on the other hand is quick to make a judgement of Phillip, she has seen his type before, wealthy, well to do mummy’s boys who expect the world to stop turning if they say so, well her merry-go round stops for no-one but her and she refuses to play by normal rules and she certainly isn’t ready to give Phillip the time of day. But when they seem to spend so much of their time “accidentally” bumping into each other they are both surprised by the easy friendship that forms between them. So when they eventually get a handle on the fact that they are both feeling more than they had anticipated for each other, they accept the inevitable and arrange a date. The relationship that blossomed between the two of them was beautiful, they were a very special couple and that the depth of feeling certainly came across the page. But as you can imagine, Phillip’s Mother doesn’t take his new found happiness well, she issues the sort of ultimatum that I have no doubt Phillip and Maggie were expecting but it doesn’t make the decision any the easier to make. The story isn’t straight forward but then again two young people from different sides of the track were never going to get everything right at the first attempt but they were willing to try and that had to be a positive. I was a little surprised with the ending – not that it wasn’t a good one, it was but it wasn’t the ending that I had anticipated.
Friends to lovers stories have always appealed to me, so as soon as I saw the blurb for Love Always, I knew I was going to want to give this one a read. Phillip, the dutiful son of a wealthy family, and Maggie, the free spirited daughter of a fisherman, meet at a resort the summer after their senior year of high school. Despite the fact that it’s frowned upon for resort employees to fraternize with the guests, they start a friendship that eventually veers toward more romantic territory. Real life obligations, along with manipulations by Phillip’s domineering mother, end up separating the two, who vow to stay in touch by writing letters. The question then remains whether their time apart will end up bringing them closer or moving them back into the friend zone.
I thoroughly enjoyed Maggie as a female lead. She was quirky, feisty and independent and it’s always refreshing to read stories where the girl isn’t afraid to venture out on her own to chase down her dreams. The supporting characters of Maggie’s dad and Phillip’s college roommate, Ed, were also strong, injecting healthy doses of wisdom and lighthearted humor in the story, respectively. I had a hard time fully connecting with the relationship between Phillip and Maggie, though, as I felt like their views on life and love were more suited for slightly older characters. I think that if they had been aged to just graduated from college as opposed to just graduated from high school, the believability factor would have been higher for me and I would have been more invested in the storyline.
Nevertheless, this was a very sweet story of self-discovery and young love that would be a great beach read or palate cleanser coming off of a darker or heavier book. As a side note, the chapter header graphics are probably the cutest ones I have seen to date! I loved the nautical theme and the symbolism of the graphics that accompanied Phillip and Maggie’s chapters could not have been a more perfect expression of the essence of these characters.
Phillip does what Mother wants. When Mother wants it. Strolling down the dock looking at expensive yachts with his least favorite person latched on his arm? Done. Tennis lessons at 11:00 in the morning? Done. College that she wants him to go to? Done. For his entire eighteen years, Phillip has done anything, and everything that Mother has asked him to do. When he meets Maggie, an apparent basketball in the middle of the black top basketball court, he doesn't expect to be intrigued by her wild child like spirit, and her endless taunting of him. After he steadies her on her eccentric roller blades, he never expects to see her again - though, a part of him can't wait to see her again.
Maggie has worked hard her entire life. From trading her two wheels (a bicycle) for her eight wheels (roller blades), she has never had anything handed to her. So, when pretty boy, silver spoon in his mouth, Phillip waltzes up to her (more like mosies his way to her), she doesn't expect him to give her the time of day. She doesn't exactly care for him; she knows his type, and wants nothing to do with his type. Neither of them are prepared for the outburst of feelings that overcome them as they continuously run into one another, and then start making plans to see each other. The chemistry that erupts between the two of them is simply outstanding, and really shone through as the story went on.
Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems, and Phillip must make the decision. Continue living under Mother's thumb? Where he must follow her every order? Or follow his heart, and live a life of carefree, loving, and understanding? The plot twists, the chemistry between Phillip, and Maggie, and of course the over all outcome of this love story was sorts of exciting, and had a rippling effect for the readers. There was all sorts of ways this novel could have ended, and I will leave that for you to fine out.
A job well done to Sonya Loveday, and Candace Knoebel!
Philip and Maggie meet while Philip is on vacation with his family. 2 seemingly normal teenagers who are VERY different from each other. Maggie who grew up with loving parents telling her she can be and do anything she wants. Philip whose parents are cold and have a life planned out for him.
So, what could 2 teenagers from opposite sides of the track possibly have in common? Not much then you ask Philip's parents but everything when you ask them. Maggie teaches Philip about life and how amazing it can be when you create your own path and follow your dreams.
Philip must lose himself, and Maggie, in order to discover who he really is.
First, I really did like this book. It had a great storyline and was easy to want to see what happened between the characters. I had a huge disconnect with them. There could have been more character development. It was hard to connect with them. The storyline felt rushed because of it.
DAWN'S REVIEW 3.5 STARS
This book is a very fun read. It hits on a lot of different levels. There is the rich family that stops at nothing to get what they want. Even if its at the expense of their son's happiness. Than you have the Lower class family that works hard for what they have. They are carefree and happy with working towards their goals. When the 2 young adults meet their is sparks flying every which way. But other people are trying to make sure that they stay apart. This book had some shocking twist that I didn't see coming. I loved the way these 2 young adults were working on discovering themselves and trying to put distance between the ones keeping them apart. this is a book that many young people will read and stop to think about the way things are. I loved the ending and couldn't think of a better way to end it.
Let me start by how I loved how this story was written. The incorporation of the letters between the two characters within this book kept me involved in the story until the end.
The story evolves around Phillip, rich kid with no backbone - man I wanted to slap him more than once. To be honest, I didn't like him very much in the beginning, but he grew on me. Phillip is on vacation with his parents and Mommy Dearest is controlling his every move including how he dresses and who he sees (Sophia - another piece of work).
Maggie, who is a true free spirit with red hair, is lying down on the baseball court watching the clouds, when Phillips thinks she is hurt and tries to rescue her. He becomes fascinated with her and how free she is, while he has family responsibly that he needs to live up to.
They both feel a pull to each other, but know nothing can happen as he is a rich kid and she is the hired help. Maggie wants Phillip to learn to live and stand on his own, but knows he must discover this himself with her help. They part ways but promise to write each other and never lose contact. Phillip goes to college, while Maggie goes to follow her dream of buying a boat to sail the seas.
The letters are full of hopes, dreams, self - discovery, friendships and love. Until the unthinkable happens when Sophia and Mother Dearest gets their claws into Phillip, then the heartache begins for both Phillip and Maggie. Can they make it pass what happens or does the letters stop and they go their separate ways?
I was taken on an emotional journey and wanted to hurt some characters, but this is what made the story for me as I was so invested into book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance with a twist.
***** WARNING SOME ADULT CONTENT***** This ARC was given to me for my honest review. Reviewed by: Felicia Henke
Phillip comes from money. He has lived a life with no worries. He knew what he was to do when he was to do it and he did not have to worry. He knew what he was going to be as he got out of college. This would soon change after his father decided to go to new vacations spot. Young Maggie a care free and worry free soul took a job at the local resort where she lived. She was only going to stay so that she could earn some money... Boy would the last three weeks change for her and her plans for her future. As Philip was walking he saw a orange haired person he went over to the orange hair and from here Maggie would change him. When summer was over they both made a pack to write. She was going to be in Cali and he was going to college. From here He never knew that living a life with decision was fun. His mother made them all for him. Even when it came to marriage. Although he did not love Sophia he had to continue go along with their plans. Until one day he had enough and his friend set him straight. From there Philip said. I'm going to live for me and I want Maggie.. After many up and downs and almost Losing someone they find love and will soon be forced with a life long bliss and a very unexpected surprise. I liked how this book was full of details. The feelings behind each person was there you can feel when she was happy and sad and felt when he was just over the entire over protective mom thing. The only thing I can say is when part two comes I want more from this. I have questions not answered. Like what bout his parents. R they in pic or not. I am so harping for book two.. But in all a great book...
This reminded me of a modern day Romeo and Juliet kind of story. Rich boy wants the poor, wild girl but can't have her due to his parents wishes.
I loved that Maggie didn't change anything about herself or her ways to please Philip. From the beginning she encouraged him to do what he wanted with his life and to stop being controlled by his over bearing mother. I was expecting Philip to reign in Maggie and try to put her into the cookie cutter rich girl image once he realized he was in love with her, to please his mother of course. But I loved that it was the opposite. Maggie stayed true to herself and really had Philip reach down and discover himself.
Sofia bothered the crap out of me. She was almost predictable in her actions and I knew she wasn't going to let Philip go without a fight. What I wasn't expecting was her secret as to why she was acting the way she did, but I'm glad Philip finally came to his senses.
The ending of the novel was a bit predictable, but I'm not sure if that bothered me or made me love Philip and Maggie more. Of course there had to be a boating accident, you don't spend all that time reading about a girl on a boat without something bad happening. But it was romantic that Philip came to her rescue.
Of course I loved the happy ending of the novel and really fell in love with the characters (the new Philip when he was around Maggie, not the before whiny controlled Philip).
This book was just what I was expecting, a beautifully written, nice and sweet love story.

This is the first book that I have read by either author and I really did enjoy this book. I loved that this was told in a dual POV and you learn what Phillip and Maggie both are thinking throughout the book. Phillip is a young man who was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth and very controlled by his domineering mother. Maggie on the other hand was the total opposite, very care free and set on exploring the world via her boat. Maggie and Phillip meet one summer in The Hamptons and sparks fly between the two. Only having the summer together they stay connected with each other through letters.
"She smiled, went up on her tiptoes, and kissed me on the cheek. What is it about you, I wonder, that makes me antsy thinking if I never heard from you again it would kill something inside of me?"
This book continues on as Maggie and Phillip write letters to each other. Both of them fall even more in love because of the deep connection they feel through the letters. Of course with every love story you also have problems that sometimes come from those you consider family. I loved how this whole story played out and I loved how you got to see Phillip change throughout the book. Phillip definitely matured and grew up and you can't help but cheer him on. I am excited that I found two new authors that I really enjoyed.
"I loved Phillip, wholeheartedly and completely, and I knew I would love him until my dying day. Until our souls left this earth and took their place amongst the stars."
This was actually my first book to read from both authors but when Candace sent me the sign-up and synopsis, I wrote back with a big YES and I’m so glad I did. This is a great coming of age story about becoming your own person and that great love we as readers can’t get enough of. I absolutely loved the characters (yes even Phillip at the beginning) because they were well rounded with flaws and all.
Phillip and Maggie meet when she’s working at the resort he’s staying at with his parents. He’s 18 years old and his mom has the tightest stranglehold on that position I’ve ever seen. She still plans everything for him and expects him to adhere to that. She’s also a “b” with an “itch” and I wanted to ring her neck more than once. Maggie is the TOTAL opposite of Phillip. She’s carefree, loves to laugh, goes with the flow, and is willing to give anything a try at least once. She’s just totally laid back and as Phillip and Maggie get to spend more time together she does a world of good for Phillip.
There were a few twists in this one and at one point things didn’t look so good. I found myself eagerly reading as fast as I could so I could get to the ending. So, I blew through the whole book in no time and now I’m having a little withdraw. I’d love to see how things are going for them down the road. This was a fantastic story with excellent characters and a great story line. The characters had a nice progression as the story moved forward and it was very easy to get engrossed in these characters’ world. 5 out of 5 stars!!!!!
This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Oh wow where do I begin?
Thank you to Candace and Sonya for letting me be part of this tour. I've previously read Sonya's book The Summer I Fell and ADORED it. I have End Note and If Ever I Fall on my TBR pile and reading this has just made me want to bump them right to the top.
This book follows Maggie and Phillip on the epic journey of love. Maggie is a red headed girl who lives life to the fullest. She spends her days doing whatever makes her happy and never turns down an opportunity. Phillip on the other hand spends his days following whatever schedule his mum has planned for him. His life is about pleasing others before himself. That is until he meets Maggie.
Maggie shows Phillip the life he could be leading. Shows him everything he's been missing out on and once he starts he doesn't want to stop.
This book is extremely well written and will have you laughing, crying and sitting on the edge of your seat frantically turning the pages to see what happens next. Each chapter is written from either Maggie or Phillip's perspective. I enjoyed this because it allowed you to get into both of their heads. I especially loved the chapters of their letters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to see a lot more from these two talented writers.
