The cookbook has a short introduction that describes some of the equipment used. The book has a wide variety of cake both in terms of the type of cake as well as flavors. There is something for everyone. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I do wish there had been some pictures to go with some of the cakes but other than that it is a great book for making cakes for everyday as well as special occasions.
