USA Today bestselling author Amy Lamont writes steamy contemporary and paranormal romance filled with quirky heroines, alpha heroes, and always a happily ever after. Whether she’s writing about world-weary billionaires or rugged bear shifters, she loves nothing more than delivering stories with just as much heart as heat.
Amy lives in a small town outside of New York City with her husband, twin daughters and their two rescue mutts. When she’s not writing or hiding somewhere with her nose stuck in a book, she loves spending time with her family, taking in shows in the city, and traveling every chance she gets.
Getting Lucky with the Rock Star is book three in the Holiday Encounters series by Amy Lamont. This book is available both individually and as part of the Holiday Encounters box set.
If you remember, in the first book, Paige had met a rock star while she was at the bar with Emma giving her moral support. In this book, we realize that that night, they exchanged phone numbers and a secret relationship began. Paige is both in medical school and working at the hospital. She is crazy busy non stop. Whenever they can find the time, she and Jared hook up, mostly just spending time at his apartment out of the public eye so they wouldn’t be caught by the paparazzi. With her crazy life, this time with Jared was like an oasis. A time she could turn everything else off. Until one night when it all became too much.
Jared Sloane is lead singer of the Sliding Violets, a wildly popular band. He lives the life of a rock star. But really, he’s just a down to earth, nice guy. And for some reason, he seems to want to spend time with Paige. She doesn’t know why. They’ve never had any kind of talk about what they were doing. She has no time in her life for a relationship. For all she knew, he had women lined up everywhere he went. But then something happened at work that just broke her. It’s just a few days until her spring break and Jared asked her to go with him on a short one week promotional tour. She needs this time to decompress so who better to spend it with than her sexy rock star.
“Isn’t that what the next week was all about? Indulging all my feelings and fantasies so I’d have something to take with me when I went back to the real world?”
Paige is forced to face the fact that Jared saw their relationship as so much more than just hooking up. Deep down she did too, she was just afraid to face it. She also needed to face the fact that medical school and her job at the hospital were not what she thought they would be.
I think that this is my favorite so far of these three books. I loved Jared. Even though the whole book is told from Paige’s POV, it’s still evident that he’s just a really great guy and that he adores Paige. And wow are these two hot together. Paige has some serious realities to face. Will she figure it all out before it’s too late and she loses the man that has become much more important to her than she ever thought possible? If I had one complaint, it’s that there was no epilogue.
I have been enjoying this series so much and can’t wait for the last book, Summer with the Soldier, which will be Jade and Logan’s story. I’m so excited about this one.
Ugh. There was no back story. There was no reason for me to like or care about either of the main characters. All this was was sex. Don't get me wrong, I like the smut books as much as the next girl. But I also like a little plot with the sex scenes... This wasn't as horribly written as the Fifty Shades book, but ugh... this was close.
Getting Lucky with the Rock Star was Paige and Jared's story. Another fun, quick, sex filled read from Author Amy Lamont. I love the stories she writes in this series! Off to book 4!
Jared is Paige's dirty (little) secret. Even though he is very busy, Jared still finds time to come to New York, for a supposedly booty call. To these two, in their minds, until it became something more. This is a romantic story without cheating or hard core drinking. Paige behaved stupidly for the proverbial twist. She was so immature. They got their HEA though. I love it.
Paige and her secret lover, rock star Jared. All her life Paige thought she knew what she wanted until the bet that was made with friends Emma, Jade & Kate, The bet was to get Emma out of her head and back into the world and when she won that bet she placed one of her own for the other three. Well what Paige friends didn't know that the night she met Jared they had been hooking up for almost 3 months, and she wanted to keep it that way. Paige has always set goals for herself that she tried very hard to meet and exceed. She has always done what her family thought she would do, and gave up on the dreams she really had. When Jared offers Paige a week away to go on a promo tour with him she decides it's time she took time for herself. Everything was going great until a photographer gets a pic of the two kissing and now their afraid it will end up on the tabloids. Things go down hill and Paige goes home early, she's broken because she wants to be with Jared but her career is important to her (she thinks). When she arrives home she is met by her friends who she tell the whole story to about everything with Jared, and they discuss with her what she really wants to do, By the end of the night they have a plan of action. If you want to know the end you'll have to buy the book or get it free on KU.
Jared is a famous Rockstar, but his simple, a hard worker and doesn’t live the rock star life. The first time he met Paige, he made sure she knew he was interested and didn’t leave until they exchange numbers. They started seeing each other casually, but their time together was always fun, special and turned into something so much more. Jared was the sweetest and treated Paige like a queen. Paige though they were seeing each other just for fun, but what she didn’t realized was Jared was crazy about her. Instead of treating Jared like a King that he is, she completely treated him like he didn’t mean anything to her. Will Jared ever forgive her before it’s too late?
Fun and short read, that will keep any reader wanting more. Jared and Paige are so cute together, you can’t help but love them. This is a real page turner, that ended before I was even ready to let go. Love the ending, pure sweetness. <3
I downloaded the ebook a while ago (back in 2015 I think). I really liked the summery given in the kindle store, it was exactly the kind of story I liked to read back then. But when I started the book the writing really bothered me. The plot was okay, I mean I got what I expected. For a long time I haven't picked up my ereader but when I did today I went back to the story. And I must say the the writing improved quite a lot during the book, but the plot worsend. Not the story itself, I still enjoyed it, but there were some plot holes I just can't overlook. And the ending was quite rushed. In my opinion the story ended before it even started. But I do see potential for both the characters in the story and the author. If there is another book of hers for 99 cents I might be tempted to buy and read it.
I don't want to turn this into an author/book bashing, so I won't say much. I really didn't like this book and had a hard time getting through it. I thought the characters were underdeveloped because it was the third book in the series, but it looks like the first two books were about two other couples so I'm not sure why Jared and Paige had so little development. The plot was badly paced; the one interesting part of the book (the tour week) was glossed over in half a chapter. I would have given three stars if the steamy scenes were excellent, but I was so grossed out by the tub sex that I skimmed through it. They didn't get much better after that.
Sorry. I wanted to like it, but it really didn't do anything for me.
Didn't like this one as much. I loved Paige and Jared. They had such a great thing going on. Jared was amazing! But it felt like the whole plot was predictable. That we all knew how things were going to end and we just had to wait around until Paige finally caught up with what the reader already knows. And it almost seemed like there was too much sex. I wanted more conversation and character development. I loved the ending though and the direction that Paige's new career will take. Was not expecting that. Still love the friendship between the 4 women. Can't wait for the next book.
Loved it! But rushed in the end making it go from a 5 to a 4 Star rating. Wondering when the last two books Amy wrote in the author notes will come? Can't Wait!
I think that Paige and Jarod’s meeting should have been in this book. Even in book 1 of the series, it doesn’t say how. It just has them sitting at a table together. That’s it.
1. Jared Sloane is one stand-up guy, and sweet to boot. 2. Having the story start with an established relationship, even if it's only a casual one, is a plot point I don't often see in romances--I always appreciate something that differs from the norm, if it's done well. 3. The conflicts in this relationship, both internal and external, made perfect sense, and were resolved without resorting to blanket forgiveness or one character ignoring their needs to support their partner.
Things I didn't like about this novella:
WHY IS IT SO SHORT WHY CAN'T IT BE A FULL NOVEL I WOULD READ ABOUT JARED FOREVER
I purchased Getting Lucky with the Rock Star as part of an anthology.
This is the tired book in the series that all started when four friends made a bet about having adventures. Paige, in her first year of medical school meets Jared the musician in Silver Lining, a rock group. She is the open outgoing one of her four friends but she keeps her budding relationship with Jared a secret.
The book is full of fun, witty conversation, serious problems and each learns the need to communicate in this life changing love story, where Paige really find Getting Lucky with the Rock Star is the best thing that could have happened for her.
I really enjoyed this love story. I am not usually into rock star books as they are usually bad boys in all the wrong ways. This story was totally the opposite and Jared was portrayed as loving, caring and deeply in love with Paige who was sure that it was all just a quick fling and didn't fit into her busy totally competitive life style.
It ended with a HEA and the whole book was just a nice feel good story.
I enjoyed the banter and the sexy times between Jared and Paige. I didn't feel cheated by not knowing their back story or what was going on with her friends and the bet (I hadn't read the first two books in the series). It actually felt like a decently rounded story, especially with Paige dealing with loss, and questioning her life choices.
However, I did find bit of it boring to the point that I started skimming to just get to the dialogue and things that kept the story moving.
Adorably cute story. Overworked and over-stressed medical student and hospital orderly Paige Jordon takes a break from the norm and lives a little. Not expecting her fling to last with rock star Jared Sloane of the Splitting Violets, Paige gets a rude awakening when love, life and career get challenged. Paige is overdue for a makeover but it requires that first step. Such a cute story.
I really did enjoy this book, its characters, its moment in time, and its outcome. What disappoints me is one of the grammar errors that occur throughout the book. Please learn the appropriate use of "me" and "I" especially after a preposition and when used with another noun. This error drives me crazy.
For me I went into this book bind because the cover malfunctioned on my kindle so I had no idea what book it was. I liked these characters and thought their romance was sweet. I love how their was a bet involved it always makes it more intense on how that will play out. I never got emotionally involved with these characters and thats why I rated it what I did.
He's in a successful band and she's a med student. They met over the holidays and have continued seeing each other ever since. She's keeping him to herself not even telling her friends as he's the bright spot in her day. But she isn't taking their relationship seriously as he doesn't fit into her preset plans for the future.

Who doesn't wish they had 3 of the very best friends in the world. Even though our book is about Paige and Jared I loved how her friends, the friends, support each other no matter what. Also, sex with a hot famous rockstar, who wouldnt love that. This author pulls me into every story and I love being transported into her world.
This book was sweet and completely unchallenging. This is not a bad thing. It had a straight forward plot and characters that were not exactly fully rounded but fun nonetheless.
I've had these books in my library for a while now I read 1 and 2 and then moved on to something else by Ms Lamont, I forgot all about 3 and 4. The past two days I've read three and now I'm onto four can't wait for more.
If only I had one rockstar like that, I world put him in my pocket and hide him away as my own. He was very attentive to her and not trying to be this huge alpha ego maniac. That's rare to see. Onto the next one.
This is your standard rock star romance with the exception that Jared isn't a self centered jerk. That's why I gave it four stars instead of three. Paige is an endearing character.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes reading something from a younger point of view helps you see things in a different light, and that's not a bad thing.
