The surface of the water ripples as I come up for a breath, catching the light of the moon. I take a moment to admire the effect, then dive back down, kicking my legs hard behind me. I can feel the pressure building on my chest as I dive, threatening to force the air out of me. Finally, I oblige. I breathe out slowly, the bubbles tickling my body and legs as they wobble to the surface. I dive deeper and deeper.
It's dark near the seabed, the moon a distant light. Creatures are scampering around, claws and legs scratching at the sand, looking for morsels of food. A school of wentfish swims back and forth, following each other's movements as though telepathic.
