Lost Minecraft Journals #1

Discoveries in the Overworld

Rate this book
Now children can do more than just play Minecraft! With bestselling author Winter Morgan, they can take a trip right into the game itself!

Harriet, Jack, and Toby are treasure hunters, searching the Minecraft world for its most valuable hidden secrets. In an abandoned mineshaft, they discover what they hope is an enchanted book. But what they’ve found turns out to be much more valuable.

William is one of Minecraft’s most renowned explorers. He’s a legend in the world of Minecraft, but, under suspicious circumstances, he’s gone missing.

The book they’ve discovered is a journal—a lost journal that once belonged to William the Explorer. Ignoring the ominous DO NOT OPEN THIS BOOK! warning scribbled across the journal, the treasure hunters delve into the book’s pages. Filled with the knowledge William has gathered during his adventures, the journal offers invaluable information for the treasure hunters. The promise of hidden strongholds filled with treasure is too good to resist, and the trio begins an epic journey in search of rare goods and possibly even the long-lost explorer himself.

This is the first book in the new Lost Minecraft Journals series. The chapters of each book alternate between the journal entries (William’s story) and the story of the treasure hunters. Fans of Minecraft won’t want to miss this wild new adventure.

This adventure series is created especially for readers who love the fight of good vs. evil, magical academies like Hogwarts in the Harry Potter saga, and games like Minecraft, Terraria, and Pokemon GO. Sky Pony Press is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers—picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

Wow what a cliff hanger! I really hope the curse is actually broken from them reading William’s journal.

Fast paced, missing a lot of story line points, disappointed in the inaccurate nature of it all, the snowballs were killing me ! you can’t use those in battle the way they were used in this smh

I loved it. I can't wait for the next one to come out. I don't know if they will save William the explorer from the nether and charles.

Good book, though considering how short it was I feel they could have included the next part in the same book rather than leaving us in the middle of the story at the end of it. Besides that though I think you will enjoy this book if you like Minecraft and if you don't then you probably won't understand this book. Overall I would recommend it!

A perfectly good kids' book for kids who love Minecraft. The peril is very gentle and the pacing keeps my 7-year-old Minecraft fanatic interested. He was very interested in how the world of this chapter book worked. This is part one of a 3-book series that he enjoyed.

This is our favorite series by the author so far. I'm learning a lot about Minecraft by reading this series with my child. Loved the idea of the journals. We didn't want this series to end.

Read aloud to Daisy. This is her review:

It was a great book. But it could have been more accurate to Minecraft. In Minecraft they do not fight with snowballs in the Overworld. Oliver should have been able to beak out of the cell even without the pickaxe .

Overall I did enjoy the book.

So K is into Minecraft and when I saw this book I thought maybe he would enjoy this story. Now this story is not authorized or sponsored by Microsoft Corp and its affiliates as this is written on the back of the book.
Three kids Harriet, Jack and Toby are treasure hunters which is pretty cool and they find this journal but unknown to them until they start reading it that something seemed to have happened to William and his friend Oliver. They are warned not to read this missing journal as bad things will happen but hey who ever listened to warnings. From the time they start reading it things start to happen. They fight skeletons among other things but it all seems to happen when they read something from that journal could it really be cursed? If it is why was it cursed and where is William at? Now the journal is William's account of what Oliver and him went through as explorers of the Overworld. At the end of the story someone is found but will that person have answers?
K really liked it as he knew some of the things that were in the book via the video game and he was very interested to see if William would be found or if the three friends would ever survive. We do plan on getting book two when it is available from the library.
I do like the whole journal idea especially when we go from what is happening to the three friends to the entry of what William and Oliver are seeing and doing. It flows very nicely.

Read with my 10yo. He loved it and insisted on reading the rest of the series. I thought it was pretty predictable, but it was written for an audience that includes my 10yo, not me. If you know Minecraft at all, after reading the first one it's pretty easy to see where it's going from the titles, but that will not stop your kids from devouring them anyway. One word of warning - the first book ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, so you'll want to have access to the next book in the series. Also, if your kids aren't into Minecraft the book will be a little confusing.
