No one understands secrets like Rhys Vaughn. Known for his cold efficiency, he’s notorious for having been the best Special Forces interrogator in the field. There’s no one he can’t break…until Rhys comes face to face with injured scientist, Tessa Rosenthal, the only person who has ever managed to see past his frigid shell. Despite his icy exterior, Tessa Rosenthal desperately wants to trust the striking man who rescues her from a hellish nightmare...but she doesn’t dare. After being unwittingly recruited to create a deadly weapon, it’s up to Tessa to destroy it before it can be unleashed on the public. She can’t risk making any more mistakes, and needs to listen to her head…no matter what her heart tells her. But secrets have a way of coming back to haunt you. And when demons from both Tessa’s and Rhys’ past threaten the fragile bond that they’ve built, the pair will have to come together to redeem their former sins if they have any hope of surviving to create a future together. *** RHYS is the thrilling, intrigue filled second novel in the Sinner Saints contemporary romance series. ***
The author just can't write these books fast enough to suit me! While I really liked Carter in the opening novella, Rhys was even better. Maybe because he was more mysterious. He tended to operate with a cold detachment, unlike his other teammates at Carter Securities. He doesn't say much but in his line of work words aren't always necessary.
He receives a call from a former friend that he hasn't seen in years. He requests a meeting at Boyd Anders' mansion. The man is rumored to be dirty although it's never been proved. If Dylan is now working for the man then there's only one reason for Rhys being there. Anders needs information extracted from someone and Dylan's likely told him about Rhys' s work with Special Forces. The man does, indeed, offer Rhys a job but before Rhys can turn him down there's a disturbance that calls both Anders and Dylan away.
Minutes later, Rhys is surprised when a young woman stumbles into the room. She's injured, bloodied and bruised, obviously having been tortured. Rhys ends up rescuing her then discovers she's Dr. Tessa Rosenthal, a scientist Anders recruited straight out of MIT to work in his lab. Unfortunately, her work, in Anders' hands, will be used as a weapon. While she wants to believe Rhys when he says he only wants to help her, she doesn't trust him or his team. The best thing she can do is run.
Their lives in danger once again, Carter's people work to bring down the bad guys. This book is loaded with action and suspense as well as a steamy romance. Both Tessa and Rhys have secrets they aren't telling and only time will enable them to trust one another. Sadly, time is something they don't have as the villains close in on them.
Can't wait to see what comes next to this special group of men and women. A close-knit unit, they're willing to risk everything to right a wrong and bring the bad guys to justice.
This is a story about Rhys and he’s notorious for having been the best Special Forces interrogator in the field.
Tessa Rosenthal is a scientist and has to get back to her work so she can destroy her discoveries. She thought they were a possible cure for cancer but instead her boss is going to use it to kill.
Rhys was celibate in this book until he meets the heroine. Same with the heroine. I really like them as a couple.
There was mention of his past and that he was a ONS kind of guy and had had more than his share of women. By all accounts I thought he was a quiet introverted man, a non-social one and I was sad and disappointed to hear about plenty of ONS. This is the first book of Adrienne Bell's that has mentioned past sexual experience.
I would definitely recommend this and the Sinner Saints series.
Safety: Was a man-whore in the past known for his ONS. Nothing lasted over a couple of weeks. They are both celibate in this book until they get together. No O/W O/M drama No exes
This book is short but packed with suspense, action and romance. It is a great series if you are looking for a great book, but don't want to invest you time in a 400 page book.
Dr. Teresa Rosenthal is being held hostage and tortured, but she refuses to talk. Rhys is contacted by an old Army buddy about a possible job. Guess what that job is? No mystery as to the baddies here. The mystery is the why and it makes chilling sense when it is revealed.
AMAZING!!!! I loved Rhys and Tessa's story!!! AWESOME Read! I loved it so much. I'm now on book #3. I am gobbling up this series. The men of Sinner Saints are hot, hot hot!
The men of Macmillan Security sure do find women that have gotten themselves into deep and dangerous situations. There is plenty of action and intense scenes in this second book of the series with Rhys as the leading man. Rhys is one frightening guy. Good thing, he is now more a “Saint than a Sinner”. Even though the romantic relationship happens extremely quickly between Rhys and Tessa, I felt the chemistry between this mismatched couple. I had mentioned in the review of Book 1, I didn’t have a real sense of the characters. After reading this story, I am getting more insight into these former special forces men that make up this elite and hard-core security team.
This is the second book of a really good series of ex special forces turned security and the women they learn to love. Rhys get a call from a a man he served with, and when he arrives for a meeting with him, things go wrong. A woman stumbles into the room he's in and Rhys realizes she has been tortured to he gets her out. Tessa is a Doctor who works in nanotechnology and due to her work she is in danger. Rhys has decided that he will protect her at all costs. Can he save Tessa from the men who are after her and can they survive to discover a love? This is a book full of action and excitement.
This book is formatted exactly like the first in this series. Common elements are plentiful:
-woman in dire need of help/rescuing -tough man quickly falls for her -she keeps trying to escape him -bad men are after her -she doesn't fully trust him at first -lust pretty much at first sight, love closely follows, etc.
I did like the men's relationships. I like their banter and the way they talk to one another. I liked the main characters as well. Oh and I loved Charlie's character. I can't wait to read her story! The ending was less rushed in this book than in the first.
I absolutely loved Rhys book and like the others in this series I have read them all numerous times over and each time I get drawn in like I have never read the book before. Rhys is a second favourite of mine.
Rhys was awesome. He was a hardened trained interrogator who ended up saving Tessa from her interrogation ( read: torture) session with an old buddy of his. Tessa refuses to tell Rhys why her information is so important, but he still wastes no time getting the rest of the Sinner Saints on board with helping even though his boss, Carter, is a hard sell. Eventually, Tessa is forced to explain to Rhys how big, important, and dangerous the information in her head is. She would even take her own life before letting it get into the wrong hands. Rhys vows not to let things get that far. With the help of the team, Rhys sets out to help Tessa destroy her paper trail and secure her future.
I loved this story and am enjoying the series. I hope Charlie gets her chance with Bowie next.
Another great book in the series! I love having dual POV's between the main characters because I like to know how both are feeling instead of one side...makes the story way more believable! I know one thing I am so wanting to read on Charlie and Bowie, just hope there is a book about them soon. Well on to the next one in the series :) Just can't stop!!
4.5 Stars! I loved the first book and the second was almost as good. This is a fairly short book filled with suspense, action, romance and great characters. I loved Rhys and Tessa and they fit well together. This was a very quick read and I was sad that it ended because I really enjoyed it and wanted even more of the Sinner Saints. Can't wait to read the 3rd book.
rhys and Tessa. she's running from some bad guys, he saves her and then involved the rest of the sinner saints. the people she's running from are REAL baddies. rhys is a real alpha, at times a man of few words. love scenes? sigh...
scientist ran amuck, created bio weapon while trying to cure cancer. now trying to put the genie back in the bottle. finds handsome special ops man to help.
Good book, but I kept getting more interested in other characters and could wait to explore them, but I would have to go and read the other books for that so, patience in necessary.
