5🌟, 3🌶️

I don’t think this series could have ended on a better note.

I was completely captivated by the blend of romance, suspense, and nonstop tension, and once the final stretch hit, I couldn’t put it down. Every chapter raised the stakes while still making room for the emotional moments that kept me fully invested.

Ethan and Olivia were everything I wanted from this finale. Their chemistry felt effortless, their quieter moments were just as compelling as the action, and I loved that Olivia was every bit as capable as Ethan. The secrets, danger, and forced proximity kept the tension high, while their growing trust made the romance feel incredibly satisfying.

Seeing familiar faces again made everything come full circle, and the ending wrapped up the series in the most rewarding way. It delivered the perfect balance of action, heart, and romance, leaving me smiling long after I finished.

I loved every second of this ride and wasn’t ready for it to end.

Huge thank you to Nikki Sloane and Valentine PR for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

Book #3 Dangerous Obsession series
*Recommend reading in order to avoid any spoilers*

He's the secret spy sent to gather information on a mafia family. She is the female pilot contracted to fly the mafia family around. These two have instant tension and chemistry. Both MC's have a past they would rather avoid. She is wounded hero, he has scars from many different ops. These two are drawn together like magnets. Steamy, great banter, and a gripping plot.

Overall, a wonderfully written story about finding the life and love inside yourself after trauma.

I have really enjoyed this series and Hold Me Close was everything I wanted in a romantic suspense finale! danger around every corner, nonstop tension, and a romance that somehow burns even brighter in the middle of all the chaos. Nikki Sloane wrapped up the Dangerous Obsession series with an ending that felt exciting, emotional, and completely worth the ride.

I loved how the story slowly tightened the suspense before absolutely exploding in the final stretch. Once everything started coming together, I couldn’t stop listening. Every revelation raised the stakes, and I found myself constantly wondering how Olivia and Ethan were going to make it out alive.

Their relationship was one of my favorite parts of the book. The trust didn’t come easily, which made every vulnerable moment feel meaningful. Ethan is the ultimate protective hero without completely overshadowing Olivia, who proves over and over that she’s more than capable of holding her own. Their chemistry, the hidden identities, the constant uncertainty, and the forced proximity made this impossible to put down.

The South African setting added such a unique backdrop to the action, and I loved how the suspense never took away from the romance. Instead, the two worked together perfectly, creating a story that felt cinematic from beginning to end.

If you love:

* ❤️ Protective, alpha hero
* 🕵️ Hidden identities & undercover missions
* 💥 High-stakes romantic suspense
* 🛏️ Only one bed
* 🔥 Slow-building chemistry with explosive payoff
* 🌍 International settings & nonstop action
* ❤️ A satisfying series finale

then this one absolutely delivers.

This was an addictive, pulse-pounding conclusion that kept me fully invested until the very last chapter. If you’ve been following this series, you won’t want to miss how it all comes together.

Thank you to the author and Valentine Pr for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

Hold Me Close by Nikki Sloane is an emotionally charged romantic suspense that blends tender romance with edge-of-your-seat stakes. Sloane balances the danger and the intimacy well, so the thriller elements heighten the emotional connection rather than distract from it. The hero is fiercely protective and the heroine is quietly resilient, and together they form a believable, slow-building partnership that feels earned.

What shines here is the emotional depth. Sloane gives her characters real wounds and lets them work through trauma, trust issues, and the messy aftermath of danger in ways that feel authentic. The chemistry is slow-burn and powerful—small moments of care and vulnerability carry far more weight than loud declarations. Dialogue is natural and the quieter scenes between the leads are some of the book’s best assets.

Pacing mostly hits the mark: suspense scenes propel the plot and quieter chapters allow for meaningful character growth. A few plot conveniences and familiar trope beats surface, but they’re minor in a story that otherwise delivers solid tension and heartfelt payoff. Supporting characters add texture and help ground the protagonists’ world, making the stakes feel personal.

Overall, Hold Me Close is a solid four-star read for fans of romantic suspense who want heat, heart, and a tense, well-executed plot. Nikki Sloane delivers a gripping, character-driven story that keeps you invested until the last page.

Updated 2026 version.
I think this is my favorite in the trilogy because of the tropes: Alpha Hero, Spy / Hidden Identity, Mafia, Guarded Hearts, Protector, Military, Only One Bed, and Strong Heroine.
It is best to read in order as characters cross over/mentioned from previous books from maximum enjoyment but its not a requirement. Ethan (Nathan) is undercover spy working in the mafia and Olivia is a pilot hired to fly them. These two really compliment each other and with this setting type of story it kept things interesting throughout.

Audiobook:
Narrators Blair Thatcher and Gabriel Spires did an awesome job. I loved this Duet version with them two.

I think that “Ethan” and Olivia are my favorites!!!!

When Ethan first sees Olivia while on a mission she stops him in her tracks.

Ethan is on a mission to bring Gio and his family down. He never intended to fall for a pilot. Especially since she is Gio’s pilot and Ethan just put a target on Olivia’s back by showing his desire for Olivia.

Love this series by Nikki Sloane.

Duet style narration and was narrated by Blaire Thatcher and Gabriel Spires.

Even in the darkness, I could see everything. What I’d done was play with fire, and now he was going to burn me into ash.

Nikki Sloane really said, leave the best for last with this book. Because way to end this addictive series with a bang. And I mean that figuratively and literally.

Now while this is a standalone romance, the story arc does continue through the book. And the MMC for Hold Me Close is originally introduced in Keep Me Safe and so I highly recommend reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment. We got the bodyguard romance in book 1, the billionaire in book 2, and now we finally get the spy. And dare I say Ethan's book was my favorite in the series. There's just something about this man's quiet intensity that just did it for me.

Ethan and Olivia first meet in the very end of Keep Me Safe and talk about starting off on the wrong foot. Ethan is still under cover trying to bring a dangerous criminal organization down, and Olivia is a plane captain that took a job with the wrong people. Sparks fly immediately between them but they have everything to lose by giving in because neither one of them is quite who they say they are.

While we know Ethan's secret, the mystery surrounding Olivia is one that unravels towards the end and I loved her more with each additional layer that was revealed. Nikki has written some strong FMCs in this series, but Olivia is in a game of her own. This woman is absolutely fierce and I loved her strength and quiet vulnerability. something about it just spoke to me, and I loved the way Ethan was a moth to her flame. The man didn't stand a chance, but once he was in, he was all in.

There was plenty of action weaved effortlessly with the sizzling romance. The chemistry between these two was through the roof. But the story is what really made it for me. I binge read this in two days and I don't remember the last time I did that in the last few months.

Id you're looking for a high octane romantic suspense with fantastic characters, look no further!

HEA: Yes

Hold Me Close is a fast-paced romantic suspense packed with tension, danger, emotional stakes, and a love story unfolding right in the middle of absolute chaos. Nikki Sloane delivers a dramatic and satisfying conclusion to the Dangerous Obsession series, balancing betrayal, action, and romance in a way that keeps the momentum high from beginning to end.

This book builds steadily for most of the story, layering secrets, chemistry, and suspense, and then around the 88% mark it absolutely takes off. The final stretch had me fully locked in, with twist after twist raising both the emotional and physical stakes.

What I continue to love about this series is how cinematic it feels. The suspense never overshadows the romance, and the romance never slows the action. Olivia and Ethan’s dynamic works so well because both characters bring strength, intelligence, and emotional walls that make every vulnerable moment feel earned. The protector dynamic, hidden identities, and constant danger created exactly the kind of addictive tension I want from romantic suspense.

Hold Me Close
Dangerous Obsession, Book 3
By: Nikki Sloane
Narrated by: Gabriel Spires, Blair Thatcher

Nikki Sloane wraps up her amazing “Dangerous Obsession” series with a thrilling romantic suspense that, once you start it, you can not tear yourself away because you need to know what happens next. I have been looking forward to Ethan’s story, an intriguing character, an undercover operative and spy who speaks several languages and wears many hats. His new assignment has him infiltrating a mafia family, one that he is familiar with, and all the pieces fell together, making him Abramos new bodyguard and translator. A trip to Africa tests him, or rather Abramos’ personal flight captain, Olivia Wallace, does, from the moment they met, and her presence is a challenge he could have done without, one that could compromise him and the mission. Both these characters had secrets, his being more intense, living a secret life, hers of her past, that she is trying to forget. The chemistry between these two is electric, and you could feel the tension, but the resistance was futile. Olivia knew the people she worked for were not good people, and she hoped she could leave once her contract was up, but that hope went out the window after witnessing how bad her boss really was. Ethan’s protective mode kicks in, but could Olivia put her trust in him? The complexity of the characters and the story is incredible, and Sloane did an amazing job putting all the pieces together and bringing the story full circle and back to the Dunn’s and past events. There is never a dull moment in this well-written, cleverly plotted story, a story with non-stop drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. The world-building and character growth and development are remarkable, and it was great to see the characters from the earlier books again too. Nikki Sloane, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 Gabriel Spires and Blair Thatcher did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting, accents and all, and was believable in every role. Spires killed it as Ethan, grasping every facet of his personality, from his protectiveness to his strength and determination, and he was just as amazing playing the ruthless mafia Don. Thatcher was a natural in Olivia's role, and did the same showcasing all aspects of her personality, too. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Their expressive delivery conveyed all the characters’ emotions, making you feel them all, and they expertly handled back-and-forth banter effortlessly. These two make a great team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that keeps you glued to the story.

Hold Me Close by Nikki Sloane delivers an explosive, high-stakes conclusion to the Dangerous Obsession series, perfectly tying together danger, passion, and betrayal. This fast-paced romantic suspense standalone is best enjoyed in sequence to avoid spoilers, bringing the series to a dramatic and deeply satisfying close.

The story follows Captain Olivia Wallace, a strong, resourceful heroine who is running from her past and counting down the days until her final flight to South Africa is complete so she can finally win her freedom from the criminal world. However, nothing about this mission goes to plan. Once she lands, the South African savanna transforms into a living, breathing danger zone full of unseen threats where trust is a luxury Olivia cannot afford.

The danger escalates with the arrival of her employer's lethal new bodyguard. He is an intense, controlled, and gorgeous alpha hero who is clearly hiding behind a fake name and a web of lies. Despite the false pretenses and secrets that could destroy them both, the tension between deception and desire creates an immediate, blistering attraction.

While he claims he is not a good man, his protective instincts take over when violence erupts, and he risks everything—including his cover—to save her. This classic protector force is willing to cross every line to keep Olivia safe, turning their immediate chemistry into a raw, consuming bond.

What makes this story so compelling is how the romance is layered with deep distrust, guarded hearts, and intense emotional conflict. Popular tropes like military themes, spy identities, and a classic "only one bed" scenario heighten the forced proximity, balancing the high-octane chaos with vulnerable, quiet moments that give both characters incredible depth.

As the truth begins to unravel, putting desire above the mission sets the couple on a dangerous collision course with the Italian mafia, raising the stakes to a life-threatening level. Nikki Sloane keeps the momentum high right up to the final pages, keeping readers entirely captivated by a love story forged in the middle of absolute chaos.

The exceptional audiobook production elevates this thrilling finale even further. The narration by Gabriel Spires and Blair Thatcher is absolutely captivating, breathing vibrant life into Olivia and her intense protector. Their performances perfectly capture the escalating tension, the underlying vulnerability, and the raw passion of the characters, making this an unforgettable listen for fans of romantic suspense.

What makes this story so compelling is the tension between deception and desire. Both characters are living under false pretences, both are carrying secrets that could destroy them, and yet neither can deny the pull between them. As the truth begins to unravel, the stakes escalate in a way that pulls in the Italian mafia and turns their fragile connection into something far more dangerous than either of them expected.

The romance is layered with distrust, protection, and emotional conflict, and the forced proximity only heightens the intensity. The chemistry feels raw and consuming, balanced with moments of vulnerability that give depth to both characters. Olivia is strong and resourceful, refusing to be a passive player in her own story, while the hero is the classic protective force who is willing to cross every line when it comes to keeping her safe.

Masterfully crafted and well written, Hold Me Close is the final book in the Dangerous Obsessions series. Each book has been intense, full of action, and full of passion, but this book is leveled up and left nothing on the table.

Ethan Foster is a field agent for the CIA and has been in the background of the Dunn brother's stories since book one. He's literally been in the background and since he's an undercover agent and in this story it's uncovered just how deep his cover went and what's at stake or specifically what he's willing to do for his country. That is..until he meets Olivia Wallace.

Captain Olivia Wallace first meets Ethan, known to her at that point as Nathan, working security for a rich, spoiled man she's been flying around the world. For her, the job begins as just any normal day, but it soon goes off the rails. She can pinpoint the biggest change as the hottest man she's ever flown with, and something tells her that Nathan, or Ethan, is the one man who can protect her, and that's when she's not protecting herself. Olivia is one tough woman and I loved that she was constantly surprising Ethan. I mean he's a man who is trained to save the world, but every time she steps up, his instinct is of course to protect her, but his attraction to her also goes up exponentially. It's a great combination to witness.

Their chemistry is off the charts, if only their lives weren't constantly in danger. Olivia and Ethan are in a constant state of "unfinished business" while also running for their lives. In regards to this state of "unfinished business", it's elemental to how their relationship evolves and it was everything. Ethan first puts this in Olivia's phone as his contact name. Then they both kept using this phrase when they were parted or separated. It was perfect for them and meant so much more than saying "goodbye" each time they had to part. It helped create suspense, and emotion, and every time they used it it meant so much more. I loved it.

The entire series was fantastically woven together and I loved how everything tied up. Past characters were brought in throughout this book, not just for show, but for specific plot purposes. This could be read as a standalone, but I strongly suggest reading the series, beginning from book one to get the most reading enjoyment out of reading this book, due to the interconnected plot from book one through book three.

"Hold Me Close"
(Dangerous Obsession # 3)

by Nikki Sloane

Tropes:
🕵️Spy / Hidden Identity
🛡️Protector Hero
⚡Romantic Suspense
🔥Danger as an aphrodisiac

The final book in this series follows Ethan (code name Nathan) and Olivia (Kathryn).

He is in an undercover mission to the Italian Mafia when this beautiful and sassy pilot named Olivia defies him and catches his attention.
At their final destination, South Africa, they let their mutual attraction to involve them in a lust few hours.
From that moment until the end, they develop their relationship that started with danger (that can be a powerful and seductive), and end in a deserved HEA.

This book, just like the previous two, is packed with action, angst, banter, villains, guns, safaris, terrible memories from the past, but also lust and sexy scenes and love.

A big shoutout to the cameos from previous books' MMCs and FMCs. I always love when an author gives readers these beautiful gifts.

Hold Me Close was a thrilling and satisfying finale to a fabulous trilogy, masterfully blending romance, suspense, and high-stakes drama to create a story that was impossible to put down. Centred around the mysterious Ethan, who has recently been engaged as a bodyguard for Giovanni Abramo, the youngest son of a mafia don. While he appears committed to his new role, it quickly becomes clear that he has his own agenda and that this job is simply a means of achieving a much larger goal. Olivia is the Abramo family’s pilot. In her desperation to leave a troubled past behind, she has unwittingly found herself caught up in a dangerous situation but with one final flight she believes that she can finally be free but instead finds herself caught up in a situation that could threaten everything including her life.

Ethan and Olivia were a fantastic pairing. Both characters are carrying deep emotional scars and are simply trying to survive one day at a time, which made their connection feel genuine and deeply compelling. Olivia’s resilience was particularly impressive; as despite everything she has endured, she refuses to let her past define her. Watching her slowly lower her guard and trust Ethan added an emotional depth to the story that balanced the suspense perfectly as their romance developed against a backdrop of constant danger, as the ever-present risk of Ethan’s true identity being exposed added a strong layer of anticipation.

With this book Nikki Sloane has once again proven her talent for crafting addictive romantic suspense and bringing the Dangerous Obsession trilogy to a close with a story that kept me hooked from beginning to end, and I can confidently say that this trilogy stands out as one of the strongest and most memorable romantic suspense series I’ve read in recent years.

⭐️ 4.75/5

This book had me in an absolute chokehold.

When I started the Dangerous Obsession series, thriller romance was completely new to me. I remember being unsure in the beginning because the obsession felt so immediate and intense. At first, I wasn’t sure what to think.

But by the time I reached this final book, I understood it completely.

Somewhere throughout this journey, I became fully invested in these characters, their stories, and this world.

This was such a strong conclusion to the series.

The suspense kept me hooked, the romance was addictive, and the plot had me turning pages long into the night. I genuinely didn’t want the story to end.

One of my favorite things about this book was the female protagonist. She was strong in a way that felt realistic and refreshing. She wasn’t written to be dramatic or unnecessarily difficult. Instead, she was emotionally intelligent, mentally resilient, and incredibly capable. I absolutely loved her character.

I also loved seeing appearances from previous characters throughout the story. Even though each book works as a standalone, those moments added so much emotional value and reminded me how far this journey has come.

What surprised me most is how attached I’ve become to this series. When I finished the final page, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. If there were five more books planned in this world, I would read every single one without hesitation.

Thank you to the author and the PR team for allowing me to be part of this journey through the ARC process. It has been such a memorable reading experience and one that introduced me to a genre I didn’t know I would love this much.

A thrilling, emotional, addictive conclusion to a series that I will remember for a long time. ❤️‍🔥

His Incredible Distraction

Ugh! These two! I love the instant animosity that is laced with a healthy dose of attraction. Adding to the awesomeness, once Captain Olivia Wallace (aka Kathryn "Katie" Pierce, Sara Pratt) and Ethan Foster (aka Nathan) give into their chemistry, the fun Q&A game that has naughty, wonderful consequences for lying is perfection. It's possible that lying is worth every stitch. 😘🌶

“If you lie, you have to take something off.”
-- Olivia Wallace

I have loved this dark, twisted, and passionate series. I'm torn on my favorite, but I can say that this installment is bittersweet. I mean, it's a great inclusion / conclusion, but I'm sad that this is the end of the series.

Even though each book focuses on a different couple, there is a ton of continuation from one to another. As such, I highly recommend reading the series in order.

I also recommend you check triggers. Things do get dark on a few occasions.

I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Gabriel Spires and Blair Thatcher, are terrific. Even better? They're in duet! ❤️ Have I mentioned how much I love duet narration? In case it isn't obvious, I LOVE duet. 🎧❤️🎧

Hold Me Close—the third book and thrilling conclusion of the Dangerous Obsession series—delivers the perfect blend of romantic suspense, sizzling chemistry, and nonstop action.

Ethan Foster is the kind of hero that’s impossible not to root for. As a CIA field agent deep undercover, he’s competent, intensely protective, and willing to sacrifice everything to complete his mission. Beneath his cool, controlled exterior is a man who struggles to let anyone past his carefully built walls, making his growing feelings for Olivia even more satisfying. Watching him balance duty with desire created some of the book’s strongest emotional moments.

Olivia Wallace is equally compelling. A skilled pilot trying to outrun mistakes from her past, she’s intelligent, capable, and far from a damsel in distress. She repeatedly proves she can handle herself in dangerous situations, which makes her an excellent match for Ethan. Their relationship is built on mutual respect as much as attraction, and I appreciated that Olivia challenged Ethan just as often as he protected her.

The romance burns hot from the beginning, but it’s the trust they slowly build while constantly facing danger that gives their relationship real depth. Their chemistry never falters, and the high-stakes spy and mafia storyline keeps the pages turning. At times, I wished for a few quieter moments to further develop their emotional connection amid all the action, but the suspense never lets up.

Overall, Hold Me Close is an engaging, action-packed finale with two memorable leads whose strength, vulnerability, and undeniable attraction make them easy to invest in. If you enjoy romantic suspense featuring undercover operatives, capable heroines, and plenty of steam, this is a satisfying read.

Great. Way. To. End. The. Series.

I got impressed book after book & when I thought there's nothing to top Shawn, BOOM! Ethan. Also the cover? Delicious.

Super grateful that I got to receive the ARC for all three books because the sickening thrill that intervenes with these characters' lives apparently feels like drug to me.

Much like the previous, this book revolves around hidden identity and cat-and-mouse chase between the main couple and the people who think they do them wrong. Ethan's mission was supposed to be the Abramos but when the clan's personal captain stepped into the picture, the priority started to shake a bit. Things got worse when the Abramos drew a connection between Juric, Constantine and the Dunns/Haywards and well.. them. Compared to Ethan, Olivia held way more stories & it wasn't until half the book did we know what actually happened long time ago. She bottled up those events that eventually shaped her guarded self. During many threatening situations where clearly her feelings for Ethan occassionally dripped for everyone to see, she still reigned herself back and made the right choices. Both Ethan and Olivia are characters of control and caution, but it's so adorable to see Ethan eventually doing all these stuffs to make her understand her own feelings.

Like I can imagine him giving her a shake and just snap "goddamn, you love me!!".

All these reworks of her previously published books are done real good & I really appreciate the dragging tension, temporary separation (yes it hurts but we need it), spice (HA!), and the closure.

Hold Me Close is the last in the Dangerous Obsession series and what a conclusion it was. This book centers around our sexy spy Ethan or shall we say Nathan. He is working undercover for some really bad folks and has a dark secret that could get him killed if they find out. This just may be his most dangerous assignment yet. Then add in the beautiful Olivia, the pilot and stuff just got real.

As the danger levels are out of control in this book, their is a lot more torture than we have endeared in the past books. I mean you could literally see and feel the pain. Just when you thought all was well with the German group more bad guys come out to play and they are just as deranged as Juric.

This book is a pretty steady read till you get 88% in, then it takes off like a rocket. There is an air of danger around every corner and is filled with triggers that will be pretty bad. Stuff like torture, attempted rape, blood, gore, gun violence and kid napping. This book is a dark romance thriller that will give you all the thrills and chills perfectly blended together. We will get to see our old friends in action as well as the new ones.

This nonstop adventure is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I would suggest reading the first two books before diving into this one, just so you can experience the full effect. If you don't you may not understand some of the story told by other playing characters, but you won't be a total loss.

I highly recommend this book along with its predecessors for all those you adrenaline junkie readers out there. It is sure to keep you invested.

📖✨ ARC Review ✨📖

Okay, I get the Nikki Sloane hype now. 😮‍💨✨

I absolutely LOVED the first two books in this series (*Stay With Me* and *Keep Me Safe*), so I was ridiculously excited to get to Ethan and Olivia's story—and it did not disappoint. ❤️

First of all... HE'S A SPY. AN ACTUAL SPY. 🕵️‍♂️

And she's a pilot for a mafia family. ✈️😌

If that setup alone doesn't convince you to pick this up, I don't know what will.

I don't think I've ever read a romance with an FMC who has a military background before, and I loved that Olivia was so capable and confident. The chemistry between these two was chef's kiss. 🫠🔥 The spice was definitely spicing, but it never felt like it took over the story.

I also loved the little touch of suspense throughout the book. It kept things moving and made me want to keep reading "just one more chapter" (which was obviously a lie).

The trauma and healing aspects were handled really well too, and I loved seeing both Ethan and Olivia work through everything together.

And the cameos!! 🥹❤️ Seeing familiar faces from the previous books made me so happy.

Can we also talk about the audiobook for a second? Because the DUET narration was PERFECT. 🎧✨ Every scene felt so immersive, and it honestly elevated the story even more. I had both the eARC and the ALC, and I highly recommend experiencing this one in audio if you can.

The ending wrapped everything up beautifully, and I finished this book with the biggest smile on my face.

Safe to say Nikki Sloane has officially convinced me that I need to read a lot more of her books because now I'm obsessed. 😌📚

Hold Me Close by Nikki Sloane is the thrilling conclusion to the Dangerous Obsession series and what a finale it is! After falling in love with this series in the first two books, I couldn't wait for Ethan's story—and it absolutely delivered. Equal parts romantic suspense, espionage thriller, and steamy romance, this book kept my heart racing from beginning to end.

Ethan may be my favorite hero of the series. As an undercover operative living a dangerous double life, every decision he makes carries impossible consequences. His latest mission places him deep inside a ruthless criminal organization, where one wrong move could expose his identity and cost him everything. Watching him balance the constant pressure of his assignment while trying to protect Olivia made for an incredible read.

Olivia was a fabulous heroine. Her military background and career as a pilot made her confident, capable, and refreshingly independent. She never came across as someone waiting to be rescued, which is one of my favorite qualities in a romantic suspense FMC. Even when the danger escalated and she faced impossible situations, she did so with courage and determination. She was a perfect match for Ethan's strength and protectiveness.

One of the things I've loved throughout this entire series is Nikki Sloane's ability to blend electric suspense with unforgettable romance and Hold Me Close was no exception. The chemistry between Ethan and Olivia beautifully builds amidst undercover missions, betrayals, and life-or-death circumstances. They earned their relationship and I found myself rooting for them through all the plot twists and turns.

The story also does a fantastic job bringing the trilogy full circle. Familiar faces return and the connections between all three books make for an incredibly satisfying conclusion. While this romance can stand on its own, I highly recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate the emotional payoff.

The audiobook was fantastic. Gabriel Spires and Blair Thatcher gave standout performances, bringing both the tension and emotional depth to life. Their narration elevated every suspenseful moment and made it easy to become completely immersed in the story.

Overall, Hold Me Close is a gripping, high-stakes romantic suspense filled with espionage, danger, explosive chemistry, and plenty of spice. Nikki Sloane wrapped up this series beautifully. While I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters, I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying ending.

A huge thank you to Nikki Sloane and Valentine PR for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

Hold Me Close by Nikki Sloane is the 3rd and final book in the Dangerous Obsession series. I highly recommend reading this series in order, to better understand the back story and not spoil the first two books. Hold Me Close perfectly blends spys, mafia and romance into one compelling read. Olivia Wallace is a pilot running from her past. “Ethan” is her employer’s bodyguard with a fake name.

Olivia is hiding from a past that nearly destroyed her and desperate for one last job so she can disappear. She agrees to fly her shady employer to South Africa; unaware she’s stepping into danger. Ethan, her employer’s bodyguard is lethal and gorgeous but hiding his real identity, an undercover CIA operative in the Italian mafia. Olivia is supposed to be background noise, she’s not on his radar, that is until he sees her, then everything shifts.

In South Africa, the savanna is dangerous, and trust is something Olivia cannot give lightly. Ethan is even more dangerous, the chemistry between them is instant and blistering, both are carrying secrets but that just adds to tension. As the danger escalates, so does the attraction between them and Ethan is faced with protecting Olivia, at the cost of revealing who he really is.

Olivia and “Ethans” journey is definitely high stakes and packed with danger which goes hand in hand with an emotional and steamy romance. As the truth, betrayals and secrets are revealed there are twists and turns you won’t see coming. What a Brillant end to this series, it’s tender, earned, and deeply emotional, the perfect finale to the Dangerous Obsession world.

Hold Me Close by Nikki Sloane is a romantic suspense novel and the 3rd book in the Dangerous Obsession series. Thank you to Valentine PR and Nikki Sloane for the gifted advanced reader and listener copies.

This book can be described as:

❤️ Action-Romantic Suspense
🖤 Female Pilot x CIA Operative
❤️ Alpha Hero MMC
🖤 Strong Independent FMC
❤️ Guarded Hearts
🖤 Close Proximity
❤️ Only One Bed

My honest opinions:

A common theme throughout this book was “unfinished business” and it was like a giant tease for the characters and the reader, leaving us yearning for more, in all the best ways. Through the intense suspense and drama, I really came to cheer for this couple through every twist and turn.

I’m usually not a fan of black cat energy in a female main character, however this one was done so perfectly. Olivia is a pilot who is used to dangerous situations, making her a strong FMC without being “catty” and carried herself with compassion and maturity. I also absolutely loved the MMC’s character. Ethan’s personality was definitely that of a strong alpha protector, but also he was so playful and charming. Once those challenges and interruptions stopped keeping them from finishing those spicy moments, that chemistry was so super hot! 3🌶️

The narration was so much better for this 3rd book. The male narrator, Gabriel Spires, does such a fabulous job performing different accents from many countries for the various male characters throughout the story. I really enjoyed his performance in this book. I also really liked the female narrator, Blair Thatcher, who spoke with strength and passion without being overly dramatic. They both fit the characters in my mind and complimented each other very well. Bravo!

Overall, I loved this story and the entire series!! It took me on an adventure and I’m sure to be thinking about it for a very long time. I will rate this book 4⭐️

Hold Me Close is the next installment in the Dangerous Obsession series by Nikki Sloane. Much like the previous two books in the series, HMC is a fast paced romantic suspense, packed with tension, drama, spice and just the right amount of danger to keep things interesting. As always, I do recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it, but each book can be read as a standalone in an interconnected world.

This is Ethan and Olivia’s story, and what an experience it is. I've been dying to get Ethan’s story from meeting him in previous books, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Ethan is an undercover agent, his newest assignment is one of the most dangerous ones yet. Spy on the mafia as a translator and bodyguard, not too bad right? Nope wrong. Olivia finds herself in Africa for similar reasons, but ones she can’t ignore anymore.

These two are drawn together by something neither of them can ignore, but Ethan isn’t who he says he is. As the plot progresses both Ethan and Oliva must learn to do the one thing that comes so very hard to them, trust each other. But will the chemistry be enough?

Nikki is the queen of all things romantic suspense. The storyline may have been fast paced, but the characters made each page feel more and more compelling. Overall the tension and suspense with the mafia made the book engaging, each page filled with layered emotion and character growth. As always with Nikki’s books, I want more!

Nikki Sloane has done it again and delivered an AMAZING book, this time finishing out her latest trilogy. I was obsessed with the entire series, and this might be my absolute favorite one yet.

I was maybe a bit in love with our FMC - I mean, what an absolute badass. A pilot? A badass veteran? I love women who can hold their own in crazy situations, and she handled it all with confidence and certainty, and I LOVED HER so much. She deserves everything beautiful and amazing coming to her.

And let's not forget about our amazing CIA Agent MMC. He was strong, and I loved finally seeing his love story. Throughout the series, I was hoping he would find his happily ever after, and I am not at all disappointed. I love that they are two halves of a whole and they find their way to work.

The story was such a wild, spicy, chaotic ride, and I was gripped the entire time. Literally, I listened to the entire story in one day because it was THAT FREAKING GOOD. The narrators killed it and added another beautiful layer of delight with their emotion and the way that they played the characters. They both were able to handle the main and side characters beautifully, and I never had to guess who was saying which lines, and it was easy to tell when they were speaking "out loud" verse "in their heads", which is a huge plus.

Thank you so much to Nikki Sloane and Valentine PR for the ALC for this book, and all of the books in this series! I'm officially fan-girling Nikki Sloane!

⭐️ Overall Rating: 4.5/5
🔥 Burn Level: 4.5/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 3/5
💧 Emotional: 4/5

Thank you to Valentine PR and Nikki Sloane for the opportunity to read and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hold Me Close was such a satisfying conclusion to this part of the series. After reading all three books, I can honestly say I loved the entire series from beginning to end.

This book had so many of my favorite tropes, including a protective MMC, secret identity, mafia elements, and only one bed. Everything came together so well, and I found myself completely invested in the story.

One thing I especially loved was seeing the FMC as a pilot. It added something different to the story and made her stand out as a strong, capable heroine.

The romance was balanced perfectly with the suspense, and the chemistry between the characters kept me turning the pages. Even though this is book three, every moment felt worthwhile because of everything that had been building throughout the series.

If you’re planning to read this series, I definitely recommend reading the books in order. The character development and overarching story are best experienced that way, and you’ll avoid spoilers for the previous books.

I loved this book so much that I’ll be picking up the audiobook next because I’m not ready to leave these characters behind.

This was such a fantastic series, and honestly… no notes.

✨ ARC Review | Hold Me Close by @authornikkisloane ✨

⭐️ 4.5/5

I loved this book from start to finish! Hold Me Close is a strong, high-stakes conclusion to the Dangerous Obsession series, and Olivia and Ethan completely delivered as a romantic suspense couple.

Olivia is a badass pilot with a military background and a past she’s worked hard to survive. Ethan is a man with secrets of his own, living a dangerous double life. Both carry emotional scars, and their connection feels intense, raw, and inevitable from the moment they meet.

Set against a backdrop of international danger and nonstop tension, their chemistry is absolutely off the charts. Ethan tries to keep his distance to protect his mission, while Olivia refuses to let anyone get too close again—but neither of them stands a chance against what builds between them.

I also loved getting updates on the previous couples and seeing everything come full circle in this final book. The found-family feel, the suspense, the action, and Olivia’s strength throughout made this such an engaging read.

A perfect blend of romance, suspense, spice, and adventure with a satisfying hard-earned HEA. 💛

Captain Olivia Wallace is not a fan of her employer, the Abramos family, but she needs the job so she keeps her head down and does as requested. The new bodyguard for boss Giovanni Abramos, Nathan (Ethan), appears dangerous and mysterious and Olivia can’t help but be curious about him, because he doesn’t seem anything like Gio. While Olivia may have had a hunch, she doesn’t know all the details about the Abramos family that Nathan is trying to infiltrate. In order to gain Gio’s trust, Nathan really needs to pay less attention to Olivia.

For two people who have their own trauma and little reason to trust, Olivia and Nathan can’t avoid one another and it becomes an unspoken situation of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” on top of their existing chemistry. In South Africa and surrounded by danger at every turn, Nathan tries to juggle protecting Olivia and finding out classified information about the mafia family. There’s suspense, steam, secrets and surprises because Nathan and Olivia are not coming out of this alive as easily as they think and there are still other obstacles if they want a future together. Olivia is actually a warrior herself rather than a damsel in distress yet Nathan was willing to make any sacrifice to make sure she was unharmed. Also, I enjoyed how this last installment ties in with the previous two stories so that the ending is resolved without anymore loose ends.

Ethan has been a CIA operative for years and even after all the ups and downs with the Dunns and Jerrick, he has to keep moving forward and jump into the next op that the CIA has prepped for him. Disguised as Nathan, the bodyguard and translator to an unhinged Italian Mafia prince, he meets Olivia, the new pilot for the mafia. When they take a trip to South Africa, things start to escalate as Ethan is trying to protect Olivia from the malicious intent of the mafia, but their connection is more obvious than they'd like, and the distraction that Olivia is has put Ethan in a precarious position - does he choose the success of the mission or protecting Olivia at all costs.
They both have secrets that weigh heavy on them, and they have a kinship that transcends the mission or any dangers that come their way. The suspense is vibrating as they navigate how to keep them both alive while salvaging the mission at hand and choosing each other is more of a sacrifice than either of them could've imagined, but one that they make even when all the cards are stacked against them.
The emotional depth of these characters throughout the series and the stakes that they have to face in order to keep each other and find their happiness made this series phenomenal. The last and final installment of this series is breaking my heart and putting it back together all at the same time. I am so sad that it's over, but I loved the wild journey I went on, and I hope she comes out with more stories that rival these because the suspense and pacing was fantastic.
Gabriel Spires and Blair Thatcher are both new to me narrators and delivered phenomenal performances. They embodied their characters so well and I cannot wait to run into them in the future on a different title.

Well Ethan you didn’t disappoint! Feels like I’ve been in this obsessed verse for a long time & will definitely be thinking about these books for months to come.

I was looking forward to this one as it was a “new” character & all the mystery surrounding Ethan gave way to a thrilling story about loyalties, secret identities & love. What would you do for love?

1st of all I want to give a massive shoutout to the narrators of this story! They poured their hearts into these characters & brought them to life just as we’d hope for: Blair Thatcher & Gabriel Spires you became Olivia & Ethan & we thank you for your service 🖤

I loved Olivia’s courage & sass. She’s been through hell & back & she’s not afraid to stand her ground. She was fierce & bold & we love that in our FMCs. Her instant attraction to Ethan was inevitable and the journey to admitting feelings and letting love guide them was bumpy but worth the wait.

Ethan, you were everything I hoped & then some. He’s commandeering & intimidating presence gave us pause. Pause to try and figure him out but also to know that as soon as he saw Olivia he was a goner. His duty & loyalty was tested throughout the entire book & we love that true love prevailed! Oh and damn he sounds sexy!

Thank you Nikki for letting me into this space! I have loved being a part of it and I’ve loved having the privilege of listening to this piece as part of your circle!

Till me meet again - Go read this series 🖤
