I was OBSESSED with this book. Seriously, I could not stop reading! From the moment I started, I was completely hooked and just wanted to keep turning the pages.
The angel x devil’s son dynamic? Absolutely EVERYTHING. Vespera and Corvus had me in a chokehold. The forbidden romance, forced proximity, slow burn, and Corvus being a completely morally black, obsessive love interest had me eating up every single moment. 🖤🔥
I loved watching their relationship develop and seeing all the darker, messier sides of both of them come to the surface. Corvus was deliciously ruthless, possessive, and completely unhinged when it came to Vespera, and I was HERE FOR IT. Their chemistry was everything, and I loved how Vespera brought out something in him that he didn't even understand himself.
And honestly? I loved every moment of it. The tension, the obsession, the danger, the secrets, the romance. I was invested in ALL of it. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” and then somehow I was still reading because there was no way I was putting this book down.
If you love morally black MMCs, obsessive love interests, forbidden romance, slow-burn tension, forced proximity, and a delicious Heaven vs. Hell setup, you absolutely need to pick this one up.

When I tell you I was grinning and giggling like an absolute fool throughout this entire book!!
Such a unique story, the perfect amount of world building/plot ratio for a shorter standalone - I understood everything about this world, how it works etc without having to read 200+ pages of world building before getting into the plot.
Vespera is a Cupid and she’s contracted to find a mate for Corvus (Lucifers son) - what she doesn’t know is, he’s using her for a revenge plot against her sister.
She’s trying to set him up on dates to find his match and he’s actively sabotaging them, these scenes had me howling he’s so funny - one of the only quotes I highlighted…
“That must have been the worst first date in the history of dating.” “Please elaborate.” “You spoke mainly about yourself. You didn’t reciprocate any of her flirting. You barely held eye contact with her. And when she talked about herself, you looked like you’d rather be anywhere but in front of her.” “Yes.” A single word that was completely unapologetic. “Do you not see the issue here?” “No.”
Seeing the relationship between these two grow was giving me the same feeling I got when I read acomaf for the first time, not comparing it to that series as the plots etc are completely different but seeing a repressed FMC who’s been conditioned to act and feel a certain way her whole life, slowly fall in love with a morally grey man and his friends and his world when she’s been told her whole life that they’re bad and evil was similar.
Corvus was my absolute favourite kind of morally black grumpy MMC, possessive and completely obsessed with her - one of my favourite quotes…
‘Her pleasure and pain were all mine. No one else had the right to even breathe near her without my consent.’
This was a slow burn, spicy good time but the plot was also excellent.
Really really enjoyed this one - my only issue if I had to pick was that I wish this was a series or a duology as something happens in the epilogue that I would have loved to have read about in more detail 🖤

OMG. This story is so freaking beautiful. 😭🖤
Vespera and Corvus are such an incredible couple. Their love, their connection, the way they become everything to each other—it genuinely took my breath away. There were moments where I had to stop reading because I could feel myself tearing up.
The way this book talks about love and trust absolutely wrecked me:
“Love is trust that you won’t do those things and that they won’t be done to you.”
EXCUSE ME?! 😭
And then Corvus comes in with:
“Every other time I had her in my grasp, she had never openly admitted to being scared in my presence. I liked it. A dose of fear was what I wanted from her.”
SIR. I AM NOT OKAY.
Vespera finding her sanctuary in Corvus, and Corvus loving her like she is the very reason he exists… I can’t. Their love is intense, emotional, and absolutely beautiful.
This one made me smile, made me tear up, and completely stole my heart. Vespera and Corvus are going to live rent-free in my head for a LONG time.

Heaven Sent; Hell Bound is proof that sending a Cupid to Hell is either a brilliant idea or an absolutely terrible one. Fortunately for us, it makes for a very entertaining read. 😂
What I enjoyed most about this book wasn’t just the deliciously chaotic Heaven-versus-Hell setup, but the depth underneath it. Vespera’s journey really stood out to me. She starts out believing that she has to fit into the version of herself everyone else has created for her, and watching her slowly question those expectations—and eventually embrace who she actually is—was one of my favourite parts of the story.
And then there’s Corvus. At first glance, he’s basically a walking collection of red flags with a demon-sized ego to match. 😂 But his POV adds so much more to his character. Beneath all that cruelty, arrogance, and darkness is someone who has never really understood love, trust, or what it means to let another person matter to him. Seeing him slowly unravel those walls made him much more than just the “morally black” love interest.
I especially loved that Vespera never simply disappeared into Corvus’s darkness. Instead, their relationship gave both of them room to discover parts of themselves they had been denying. Their connection felt messy, intense, occasionally ridiculous, and surprisingly tender—which made the emotional moments hit harder.
The story also has plenty of humour, banter, spice, and one particular hellhound who deserves his own book because Zenith absolutely stole the show. 😂
The concept was refreshingly different, and while I would have loved a little more resolution for some of the secondary storylines, I had a genuinely fun time reading this one.

This book was freaky, romantic and oh so fun. The Angel x demon romance trope is a cliche but with her being a Cupid tasked on getting him a match, the stakes are up so high. Corvin is just the most despicable and adorable demon I’ve ever read. He’s sadistic, manipulative and cocky cause duh he’s a demon, but also so damn protective and obsessed with his “little angel” to the point that he becomes a whipped puppy for her. Like he hands her a literal demon heart that he ripped out himself, to show that he loves her; like a cat bringing a dead bird to their owner all proud. And although Vespera is a literal Cupid, she’s bubbly and romantic which should be the opposite of Corvus she is perfect for him. Vespera was raised to be all pure and angelic but all that does is make her miserable, and she definitely belongs in hell with her demon. In a way she’s relatable to all women who have been told to act a certain or to dress a certain way to remain pure and to be controlled. I love how she breaks free from that (with a little help from Corvus of course) and finds a mix between her romantic Cupid self and her new slightly deranged demon Queen self. The plot is predictable but written in such a fun way that you’re incredibly captivated and I could not put this down. And the revelations at the end were so heartwarming and sweet and will make even the most unromantic person believe in soulmates. I adored the part with the funny little love confession. Corvus knows nothing about love and just knows that he needs her with him all the time and asks if that’s love. Then she’s like “yes Corvus you love me” it’s hilarious but so them and I loved it. I didn’t even known it was possible to laugh and cry at the same time but now it is. Of course Corvus is a demon so his…thing…is noticeably longer…and pierced! Which makes spicy time so fun, he’s also so in tune with her pleasure too in obsessed, and I just love the nickname “little one” it’s so degrading in the most endearing way (yeah I’m a little weird about that). This book is such an amazing read and I give it a 5/5

As a Cupid, she wants to help people find their soulmates. Corvus, the son of Lucifer, doesn't think he has one, or a soul for that matter, but is intrigued and only wants to work with Vespera. Corvus tests her limits and her sanity, all while she tries to find his perfect match. Only to find that his temptations may be too much for her. So what happens when he breaks her heart, only to find that he may be her soulmate?
Vespera and Corvus get their happy ending in this standalone book.
I could not put this book down! Corvus was temptation incarnate, and I loved how, from the beginning, without knowing what was between them, he was drawn to her and was compromising with Vespera. Vespera was so naive as well and wanted to do well, and watching her come into her own was amazing. I do wonder if her family would have ever talked about what happened to her other sister had Vespera not had her heart broken, or if that was a chapter her brother was set on never mentioning again. It would also be interesting to know how much older Vespera's siblings were than her, as she seemed to be the baby and they had been in the family business for quite a number of years. It would be interesting to know what Vespera did once she fell from Heaven all day while Corvus was running the business in Hell.

“My existence begins and ends with you.”
I adored this story from the beginning. I felt a deep understanding of Vespera and not being able to be her true self around those who she should be able to. She was a character I felt I could heavily relate to and I’m pleased with how things wrapped up for her.
Forced proximity, opposites attract and forbidden love are some of my favourite tropes. They were done so well and I enjoyed the unravelling of the journey for both characters. The yearning, the longing and the darkness of the romance was perfection.
With a dual point of view, I loved seeing things from both Vespera and Corvus’ side. His feelings and experiences being so much more complex than what he shows on the surface made me love him even more.
The additional epilogue was everything that I wanted and more!
Also Zenith stole my heart… he was the perfect kind of sidekick and I would love to be his friend!

This is a dark enemies to lovers fantasy romance, with some content that could be triggering for some readers, so as always, I would recommend reading the trigger warnings.
It seemed to me that the main characters, Vespera and Corvus, were an unlikely combination, a match that would seem problematic, and yet somehow, I found that they made total sense. I enjoyed their chemistry and found them quite quirky.
Vespera was the one that I identified with more (her love of pink, amongst other things), but I found that in Corvus' narrative, there was a deeper kind of vulnerability that I enjoyed. I was there for the journey, and for the spice. This was the first book I've read by this author, but I don't think it will be the last.

3 stars, maybe 3.25 if I’m stretching it.
Buckle up! This one is gonna be a hella long yapping session.
Okay so the premise is what got me to sign up for this book, and honestly, the first 40% of the book was pretty enjoyable. I was interested in the characters, the setup had me curious and I was genuinely excited to see where everything would go. Unfortunately, it was the latter half that really lost me.
Corvus is your fairly standard sadomasochistic alphahole. I understand that his childhood trauma is meant to explain a lot of his behaviour, but for me, it never really translated into depth. This man seemed to operate on exactly two settings: anger and horniness. That’s it. 😭 Outside of those two emotions, I struggled to find much else going on with him, and for a character this central to the story, that left me feeling pretty disconnected from him.
Vespera had much more potential for me. She’s introduced as a sheltered, naive angel with a secret part of her craving the darkness Corvus brings out in her and I was genuinely looking forward to watching her shed the guilt, shame and insecurity she’d been carrying and grow into her own freedom and ambitions.
But that character development felt severely undercooked. Even by around 87% into the book, I was still waiting for Vespera to really become the person the story seemed to be setting her up to be. There is also a point where she blindly trusts someone she knows doesn’t like her enough to go somewhere she was explicitly warned not to go, and it nearly gets her killed. Meanwhile, Corvus keeps insisting she’s smarter than she gives herself credit for, and I’m sitting here like…is she, though? 🧍♀️
And I have to say it, but I hated that she gives up her wings to stay in Hell. I know, I know, love demands sacrifice and all that. But her wings were such a clear symbol of her autonomy and freedom, especially considering how little freedom she was actually allowed to have with them. Having that particular part of her taken away in the name of love felt less like an earned sacrifice and more like her autonomy being traded away.
The one character I actually loved was Zenith. This guy was basically the only sane person in the entire crowd. At one point he asks why they don’t simply ask Vespera what she wants instead of deciding for her, and I was like, YES. YOU TELL THEM, INTELLIGENT CUTIE PUP. 🫶
That line also sums up one of my frustrations with the story. There are so many people making decisions for Vespera while supposedly caring about her, but Zenith was one of the few who actually seemed to understand that maybe she should get a say in her own life.
There was also one plot point that left me confused, although I could absolutely be missing something, so take this as a question rather than a gotcha. At one point, Morgana tells Corvus that he lacks a soul, which raises the question of how he could ever have a mate. If the earlier statement was meant literally, I think this could have been such an interesting plot point. Corvus believing he’ll never have a mate because he has no soul, only to discover that Vespera was his match all along? I would’ve absolutely eaten that up.
My other major issue was the ending. After spending so much of the book hearing about Corvus’s plans to dethrone and kill Lucifer, I expected the actual confrontation to feel like a much bigger event. Instead, it was resolved incredibly quickly within a few paragraphs and the epilogue felt rushed as hell.
Honestly, showing more of the war and letting that climax actually play out could have easily pushed this up another quarter star for me.
All in all, this was an okay book with a genuinely interesting premise that started strong but gradually fell flat for me. There were ideas here that I really wanted to love, but the character development and payoff just weren’t there for me.
Not a reread for me, and unfortunately not one I’d recommend, but there were definitely a few genuinely good ideas buried in it.

Buckle up! This one is gonna be a hella long yapping session.
Okay so the premise is what got me to sign up for this book, and honestly, the first 40% of the book was pretty enjoyable. I was interested in the characters, the setup had me curious and I was genuinely excited to see where everything would go. Unfortunately, it was the latter half that really lost me.
Corvus is your fairly standard sadomasochistic alphahole. I understand that his childhood trauma is meant to explain a lot of his behaviour, but for me, it never really translated into depth. This man seemed to operate on exactly two settings: anger and horniness. That’s it. 😭 Outside of those two emotions, I struggled to find much else going on with him, and for a character this central to the story, that left me feeling pretty disconnected from him.
Vespera had much more potential for me. She’s introduced as a sheltered, naive angel with a secret part of her craving the darkness Corvus brings out in her and I was genuinely looking forward to watching her shed the guilt, shame and insecurity she’d been carrying and grow into her own freedom and ambitions.
But that character development felt severely undercooked. Even by around 87% into the book, I was still waiting for Vespera to really become the person the story seemed to be setting her up to be. There is also a point where she blindly trusts someone she knows doesn’t like her enough to go somewhere she was explicitly warned not to go, and it nearly gets her killed. Meanwhile, Corvus keeps insisting she’s smarter than she gives herself credit for, and I’m sitting here like…is she, though? 🧍♀️
And I have to say it, but I hated that she gives up her wings to stay in Hell. I know, I know, love demands sacrifice and all that. But her wings were such a clear symbol of her autonomy and freedom, especially considering how little freedom she was actually allowed to have with them. Having that particular part of her taken away in the name of love felt less like an earned sacrifice and more like her autonomy being traded away.
The one character I actually loved was Zenith. This guy was basically the only sane person in the entire crowd. At one point he asks why they don’t simply ask Vespera what she wants instead of deciding for her, and I was like, YES. YOU TELL THEM, INTELLIGENT CUTIE PUP. 🫶
That line also sums up one of my frustrations with the story. There are so many people making decisions for Vespera while supposedly caring about her, but Zenith was one of the few who actually seemed to understand that maybe she should get a say in her own life.
There was also one plot point that left me confused, although I could absolutely be missing something, so take this as a question rather than a gotcha. At one point, Morgana tells Corvus that he lacks a soul, which raises the question of how he could ever have a mate. Heaven Sent, Hell Bound was a unique and interesting read, and I really enjoyed the relationship between Corvus and Vespera. Their dynamic was definitely one of my favorite parts of the book, especially watching Corvus become increasingly jealous and possessive whenever someone else showed interest in Vespera.
Now, this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to dark romance, so I do want to preface my thoughts on the spice with that. I realized while reading this that I am not a fan of dub-con or coercion. What saved it for me was the aftercare. I do feel like sometimes dark romance can go a little too far for the sake of shock factor. I don't want to knock points off for that because I'm the one who read the trigger warnings and still decided to go forward because I was really intrigued by the plot.
That said, I did like how Corvus and Vespera's relationship evolved throughout the story. I especially liked that Corvus accepted the darker parts of Vespera that she had spent so much time trying to hide, while Vespera was able to accept Corvus for all of his darkness. There was something really interesting about how they brought those sides of each other to the surface without judgment.
The side characters also brought a lot to the story for me. For some reason, the personification of the Hell Hounds gave me major The Lost Boys vibes. I have absolutely no idea why, but that was immediately the energy I got from them. And Zenith was hands down my favorite. His line delivery had me absolutely cackling.
He wasn't the only one making me laugh, either. Some of the back and forth between Corvus and Vespera had me putting the book down because I was cry laughing. I love a good bit of dry humor, and the comedic timing in their dialogue really worked for me. Those moments gave the story a nice balance against some of the darker themes.
I really liked the overall plot and the Heaven vs. Hell concept, but I do wish the ending hadn't felt so rushed. Some of the things I found most interesting, like bringing down Lucifer and Vespera giving up her wings to stay in Hell, were glossed over pretty quickly in the epilogue. I would have loved to actually see more of those moments play out rather than having them summarized.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and thought the premise was really fun and different. I just wish we had gotten a little more time with the ending and some of the bigger plot developments.
Because of that, Heaven Sent, Hell Bound gets 3.5/5 stars from me.

What can I say about this book? An angel of the Cupids trying to find a match for the son of Lucifer… Imagine that! An Angel… She's doomed!!! Literally! 😂 This is one of the “sweetest” stories I've ever read. Don't get me wrong. It is not sweet in the sugary-sweet sense, where the MMC is nice and gentle… no. Sweet in the sense that an Angel brought a devil to his knees, not by force, but by love.
Vespera is the youngest Cupid, constantly judged and controlled by her family. But her grandfather has other plans for her, and she's sent to Hell to find a soulmate for the Prince of Hell, Corvus. Just thinking about it makes me smile from ear to ear. 😂
Corvus has pure darkness in his eyes. His irises lack any warmth. He has no soul, so how could he possibly have a mate?! He was scary, and there were moments when I was genuinely scared of him. And then Vespera makes a deal with the devil… which always ends in blood. She is sweet, innocent, alluring, and tempting; the greatest temptation he has ever faced. A heady mixture of fear and arousal fills the air around them. She has always felt that something was missing in her life, but she would never have imagined it was a demon. Her survival instinct was nonexistent. 😂 And he wanted both sides of her: the fight and the submission. He showed her his secrets, and she lived his fantasies through him. Then he became her sanctuary, and she had no regrets.
And Corvus… Oh, Corvus. He is everything you'd expect from the Prince of Hell: ruthless, sadistic, manipulative, and completely obsessed with his little angel (little one). Then he falls in love...
The side characters, whether in Heaven or Hell, were also a great addition to the story. The Hellhounds: Zenith (I loved him!), Darco, Orson… Morgana, and Evander (Oh, hopefully he finds his soulmate!)
And this expression? “She's as useless as a fishnet condom.” 😂😂😂 I’m sorry, but I loved it!

This book is the kind of romantasy that throws an angel and the Prince of Hell into the same room and basically says, "good luck surviving each other." And honestly? I was hooked.
Vespera Cupid is a matchmaking angel who has spent her life feeling like the disappointment of the Cupid family. She’s desperate to prove herself, so when she gets the chance to take on her first client, she expects a challenge—but definitely not Corvus Morningstar, the Prince of Hell. I especially loved that Vespera isn’t simply the innocent angel everyone expects her to be. Her darker desires coming to the surface around Corvus add another layer to their relationship, and the fact that he accepts those parts of her without judgement makes their connection surprisingly vulnerable beneath all the darkness.
The Heaven-versus-Hell setting also gives the romance a fun fantasy twist, with souls, wings, family expectations, revenge, secrets, and a whole lot of morally questionable decisions. Special mention to Zenith, who had my heart throughout this book.
Vespera and Corvus really said: "forget finding his soulmate—we're going to ruin each other instead." And I am absolutely here for it.

Heaven Sent, Hell Bound is a Fantasy Romance book and omg it was freaking fantastic, I loved Vespera and Corvus so much!
When Vespera finally convinces her family to let her be involved in their matchmaking business, the last thing she expects is for her first client to be Corvus, the devil’s son. Corvus doesn’t believe in love so the two make a deal: Vespera must find his match or she loses her soul, but amid their games, hidden desires and secrets coming to light, the more time they spend together the more they can’t deny their growing feelings for each other.
I loved the idea for this book since I first heard about it, I mean, a Cupid matchmaking the devil’s son sounded amazing and the author executed it perfectly. The plot was so interesting and perfectly paced with some secrets, plot twists, amazing characters and spicy romance, I loved every second I spent reading this story and didn’t want it to end. The main characters were so well written and interesting, Vespera was really innocent and a bit naive in the beginning and I loved her character development and how she started to fight for the things she wanted and explore her wants and desires. Corvus was truly morally black and what he was planning to do to Vespera was evil, but he was so possessive and obsessed with her and unapologetic for it, I fell for him quickly and couldn’t get enough of him. These two were polar opposites and I loved their slow burn relationship, the way Corvus was challenging Vespera and helping her explore what she was forbidden to, their banter and back and forth were amazing, the tension between them was palpable and the spicy scenes scorching hot, I loved these two together so much. And I also really liked the hounds, especially Zen.

How I truly enjoy when a book sucks me in immediately! As a real paranormal, angels/demons, forced proximity and enemies to lovers fan, Heaven Sent; Hell Bound is everything I could have asked for!
The whole mood and setting, the contrast between hell and the angel realm, the differences between the beings‘ beliefs made it a gripping and entertaining read.
Of course there is the tension filled plot too with that contract. And the crucial reminder you should be very careful what you bargain for! It was deliciously vicious seeing Corvus‘ tricks being used on Vespera, our sweet youngest member of the Cupid family.
When the Prince of Hell encounters this level of innocence, he can’t help but want to taint and destroy it. Again, the tension between those two was everything!! That banter and teasing ugh 🥵 Him trying to embarrass and fluster her repeatedly. She, inadvertently waking his possessive, primal side. I wanted to bathe in that energy, it was so addicting.
Both characters have so many layers and it was thrilling discovering each new one.
Can I also take a moment to mention Zenith?!?!? 🥹 Oh I adore when a side character gains my love so easily… and he really did, he was an amazing pup!!
Okay, to all my paranormal readers out there and those who need that earned love and found family, please give this story a try, you won’t regret it!!

First Impressions: Vespera, a cherub, finds herself when she takes on Corvus, a demonstration and son of Lucifer, as a client for her family's matchmaking business.
Pacing: The book takes place over several months, and the passage of time feels authentic.
Character development: Vespera (FMC) is a young adult cherub, trying to establish herself a capable member of her family's matchmaking business and avoid an arranged marriage. Corvus (MMC), the embittered son of Lucifer, is found plotting his father's demise at the onset of the story.
Neither MC significantly grows over the course of the book. Vespera eschews the control of her older brother, Aster, only to give her autonomy over to Corvus. Corvus himself only succeeds in reframing his vengeance, and causing harm to Vespera in the process.
World Building: Floaty, pastel Heaven and hard, burning Hell account for the story's locations. Nothing particularly remarkable or noteworthy, almost like painted backdrops for a school play.
Romance: Infatuation? Sure. Adolescent yearning? Definitely. Romance? No.
Spice: It's there. It's questionable. And despite this book containing one of my favorite tropes (Corvus has a Jacob's Ladder), it just feels a little gross. A story with dubious permission is one thing, but this just felt...wrong.
Errors and Consistency: The draft is fine.
Overall experience: I feel bad for saying this, but this was out and out awful. This reads like new adult fan fiction for those monster dolls. By the end of the second act, the book reads like a poor retelling of the Hades/Persephone myth. Zenith is literally the only decent part of this book, and he is done dirty so many times.

Romance: Infatuation? Sure. Adolescent yearning? Definitely. Romance? No.
Spice: It's there. It's questionable. And despite this book containing one of my favorite tropes (Corvus has a Jacob's Ladder), it just feels a little gross. A story with dubious permission is one thing, but this just felt...wrong.
Errors and Consistency: The draft is fine.
Overall experience: I feel bad for saying this, but this was out and out awful. This reads like new adult fan fiction for those monster dolls. By the end of the second act, the book reads like a poor retelling of the Hades/Persephone myth. Zenith is literally the only decent part of this book, and he is done dirty so many times.

Okay, when my husband says, “I haven’t seen you this immersed in a book in a long time,” while I’m actively ignoring him AND the show we were supposed to be watching together… I know a book has me. 😂
Heaven Sent, Hell Bound by Zavi James gets a ✨5/5✨ from me — and a 🌶️4/5 for the spice!
I absolutely LOVED Vespera (or Spera, as her family calls her). Watching her grow throughout this book, especially through her relationship with Corvus, was one of my favorite parts. She’s a Cupid who is struggling to live up to her family name while simultaneously being pushed toward an arranged marriage… because apparently the person who helps OTHER people fall in love doesn’t get a say in her own love life. Make it make sense. 😂
And then there’s Corvus. The Morningstar heir with a serious daddy problem, a taste for blood, and approximately zero interest in understanding love. The chemistry between these two was SO good. The banter? The chaos? The tension? I was seated.
I also have to give some serious love to the side characters, because they absolutely stole the show at times. Zenith, I am looking directly at you. 👀 I’m going to need you to get your own book because I have QUESTIONS and I am not prepared to let this man go.
Honestly, there wasn’t anything about this book that I disliked. It was fun, chaotic, romantic, spicy, and completely immersive — clearly immersive enough that my husband had to call me out for abandoning our shared TV show. 😂

WOW. I did not anticipate to be sucked into this book quite that quickly - I read it it one sitting, I HAD to know what happened next 🔥
Vespera Cupid is the youngest in her family and is treated as such (which annoys her to no end). Sent away to boarding school to learn to be a Virtue instead of working for the family business - matchmaking (finding peoples souls mates) - she gets suspended and tries to help her brother on a matchmaking request. For Corvus, son of Lucifer.
Challenged with finding him his match, she sets out to defeat this quite difficult task.
I LOVED their chemistry. They really reminded me of a more adult version of Jude and Cardan (from the cruel prince). They bicker a lot: he’s snarky and manipulative and she always fights back. She is hard on herself and people have always told her how useless she is so she has to fight through this too herself.
I really love the moment where she realises she can be herself in Hell. She doesn’t have to worry about anyone judging her or needing anything from her.
Zenith has to be one of my favourite characters ever - he was HILARIOUS. I always looked forward to him appearing and knew he was going to be his cheeky, sweet self.
I even loved the book cover - which was absolutely gorgeous. The name POV graphics on the chapter headings were beautiful too. 😌

This was such a fun, spicy paranormal palate cleanser.
Vespera is an angel who ends up tangled with Corvus, the ruthless, obsessive and very unapologetic son of the Devil. And yes… he falls first, he falls HARD, and apparently decides he owns both her pleasure and her pain. Completely unhinged behavior. I approved.
What I liked most, beyond the chemistry and spice, was the whole Heaven vs. Hell morality angle. Heaven isn’t automatically good, Hell isn’t automatically evil, and Vespera actually gets more freedom to explore who she is in Hell without being constantly judged. Considering how sweet, trusting and occasionally painfully naive she is, she also very much needed the protection she found there.
Was the plot predictable? Very. I figured out most of what was happening way before Vespera did, which occasionally had me mentally yelling at her to PLEASE catch up. 😂 There was really only one choice near the end that genuinely surprised me.
But honestly? I didn’t care that much.
It was fast, funny, spicy, well-written, and incredibly easy to read. Corvus was deliciously obsessive, the Hellhounds were great, especially Zen, and I flew through it.
Not life-changing fantasy, but a very good time. And sometimes that’s exactly what I want.

I fell in love with Vespera and Corvus sooo fast! Neither of them changed who they were to be with each other which i loved. I find often authors will often have the mc’s change their goals, mindsets and beliefs to match their love interest opinions but i’m soo happy that these two stayed exactly who they are and still found love.
The banter, the tension, the spice?? perfection!
The only reason why I didn’t give this 5stars was because he never told her he didn’t have a soul. Her grandpa confirmed they were meant for each other, soulmates if you will, but how? if he has no soul?
either i missed the part where that made sense or it was forgotten about entirely.
I also feel like we could have gotten a whole other book or at least a good chunk of the story could have been about Corvus defeating Lucifer and taking over hell but all we got was him giving Spera his heart? i felt cheated out of the war and all the gory details.

This was my first dark romantasy and I was completely hooked!
The story follows Vespera, a Cupid angel who dreams of joining her family’s matchmaking business. However, she soon meets her match when she discovers her latest assignment is Corvus, the Prince of Hell. Vespera must find him his perfect match or risk losing her own soul.
I loved the storyline and the contrast between an angel and the Prince of Hell. The descriptions of Vespera were beautifully written, especially the way she moved around and used her wings. It really brought the fantasy world to life and allowed my imagination to run wild.
The chemistry, danger and darker elements kept me turning the pages, while the matchmaking twist made the story feel fun and original. I would have loved a few pieces of artwork throughout the book because the characters and settings were so visually striking.
Overall, this was a fantastic introduction to dark romantasy and has definitely made me want to explore more books from this genre.

I loved reading Heaven Sent Hell Bound…like Ohmygod.
Being a Morningstar definitely comes with the cockiness, the high ego and how can we forget the malicious tendencies.
Corvus is everything one would imagine Lucifer’s son to be. Hes the perfect mixture of cockiness, surety, a desire for evil and what not. The most ironic thing in the whole book is that Corvus, a demon(he’s not just any demon) deviates from his plan and not only does that but Ohmygod the way he changes. This needs to be understood just how, how does who’s hell bent on chaos becomes one who still wants that but is sweet to just one person in the entire universe?
Vespera is such a delicate angel, her family treats her as if she’d ruin the family name but one chance and everything changes. I love how determined she is to find Corvus his match, how determined she is to not break the rules.
Both the characters had such twists and changes and some scenes just melted my heart. I loved reading Heaven Sent Hell Bound and I’d definitely recommend it to those looking for an angel-demon fiction romance

Heaven Sent; Hell Bound by Zavi James was a fun, dark, and addictive read! I loved the unique concept of an angel being sent to Hell to find a soulmate for the Prince of Hell. Vespera and Corvus had incredible chemistry, and their relationship kept me hooked from beginning to end. Corvus is everything you would expect from the Prince of Hell: dark, ruthless, possessive, and completely obsessed with Vespera. I especially enjoyed watching Vespera discover a side of herself she never knew existed while Corvus accepted her without judgment. The story had plenty of tension, forbidden romance, forced proximity, spice, and emotional moments. I also loved the contrast between Heaven and Hell and the memorable side characters. Overall, Heaven Sent; Hell Bound was an enjoyable dark romantasy with morally gray characters, obsessive love, and a dangerous romance, this is definitely worth picking up!

Oh, Zavi James did it again. This book was peeerfection.
Angel x demon? Sign me up, wrap me in bubble wrap and throw me into a cage to read this book with nothing more than a bowl of water, because I felt like I was flying through the pages. The dynamic between Corvus and Vespera is so amazingly done, so beautifully written, that I think I love them more than Gomez and Morticia. Is that possible? I think so, because they became my new favorite couple.
Corvous is despicable and such a demon, I know, but he became an absolutely whipped puppy for her. She was all rainbows and sunshine and he was the complete opposite. Is it a bit of a cliche? Yes, but everything inside me melted when Vespera had to play Cupid for him.
It was a constant push and pull between them, so there were high stakes moments that were amazingly written.
They both brought the best in each other. He became a loving little demon, and she wasn't as naive and blinded by the people pleasing actions.

This book was so good. I just ate it up. Like when I think of this book, the song legendary lovers just keep playing in my head.
Vespera is a cupid angel who is forced to attend Virtue school by her brother. When she gets suspended, she takes the opportunity to work for her family business. Her first job is in Hell where she meets Corvus Morningstar, Lucifer's son against her brother's wishes. She starts to discover herself and learn about the secrets that her family hid from her. She also learns what made Corvus into the devil he is today.
Corvus does everything to make sure Vespera stays with him, even if it means to kill someone or charge through the gates of heaven. He doesn't know what love is at first but he slowly learns to love Vespera and he will do anything to keep her safe.
The book is filled with some funny moments, tense moments, and forbidden moments hidden from others. There is loyalty, love and a found family.

Vespera has spent so much of her life trying to fit into what her family expects from her, while Corvus is basically everything she has been taught she shouldn’t want. The more time she spends in Hell, the more that darker side of her starts to come out, and I really liked seeing her finally accept it.
And Corvus… ruthless, possessive, morally black and increasingly obsessed with his little angel. Watching a man who doesn’t even understand love slowly figure out what he feels for Vespera was both funny and strangely sweet considering who he is.
Heaven versus Hell, forbidden romance, darkness, spice and of course Zenith, the hellhound I quickly became a little attached to. This was definitely a good one.

This was a fun heartfelt book with some fun tropes.
I wished this wasn’t a stand alone, would have liked more world building, backstory and lore on the cupids and hounds.
Like what was to point of the bow an arrow? I get she’s a Cupid and they have bow and arrows but why have them if she’s not using or able to use it.
Zenith definitely deserves his own happy ending. Cutie pie that he is. Made the book more fun.
Don’t get Evan and what he brings to the story honestly could have done without.
Both Vespera and Corvus were interesting FMC & MMC. They had some depth and growth. Loved to see them both struggle with what they were feeling and working through it in their own (F’d up) way.
If you looking for something fun, sweet, not too dark or spicy (in my honest opinion, just read red rabbit so what do I know) this is a great short pick up.

I loved the Angel x demon concept of this book, with the angel being a match-maker (Cupid). I loved the take on this.
Corvus is toxic, dark & twisted, possessive & ruthless. He is the definition of morally grey.
The spice scenes were 🥵 Especially THAT scene where they are not alone…oh my!
I loved Vespera’s relationship with her granddad and that really resonated with me.
I was captivated by the plot however I would have liked some of the loose ends tidied up; her family relationships for example.
I have to say, the best character for me was Zen. I loved him! Can we get a novella story about him please?!
I really enjoyed this book and I’m so happy it was competed as a standalone. Zavi James style of writing flowed well; it was easy to follow, without complicated fantasy lore or multiple plot lines.
I loved the Angel x demon concept of this book, with the angel being a match-maker (Cupid). I loved the take on this.
Corvus is toxic, dark & twisted, possessive & ruthless. He is the definition of morally grey.
The spice scenes were 🥵 Especially THAT scene where they are not alone…oh my!
