Caressed by the edge of darkness is the fifth book in the Rulers of Darkness series. It's my first book by this author and can easily be read as a standalone.

Gabriel wants revenge on his enemies. They took his innocence and darkened his soul. He was beaten, starved and bought to the edge of death. He isn't a good man, in fact, he is a strong vampire and he knows revenge will be sweet. In his quest to bring down his enemies he comes across a human girl who plagues his dreams. For the first time, he finds himself wanting to help someone else.

Jordon is in trouble and that's putting it mildly. She's been drugged and tossed around like dirt. Luckily her innocence has kept her from the fate of her fellow captives. She has no hope of escape and her future is looking worse than her past. She is to be auctioned off to the highest bidder and used for god knows what. She's tried her best to escape, but she needs an angel. Gabriel is set to be her knight in shining armour, but he is no angel. He's king of a vampire clan and lost his heart long ago. He wants to help the girl and stop her fate being similar to his own. One look at Jordan and he's in big trouble. Can he let her go and give her a second chance at life? Maybe it isn't as simple as that. Maybe they can save each other.

Caressed by the edge of darkness is a will they/won't they sexual frustration book with some hot sexy scenes. It has an interesting backstory which will continue in other books from others points of view (I'm guessing). I really enjoyed this book and would happily read others in the series. What makes a king? This book may be fiction, but it's no fairytale. The story will continue, however, this chapter is closed and I was satisfied with the ending.

4.5 stars out of 5. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've been looking forward to this book for 2 years? Or was it longer?

Gabriel was cold and distant, he hated humans and never drank from them he fed blood from a bag.

And when she was kidnapped he became obsessed looking for her. How he wanted to protect her and make her his, how possessive he was.

And here I was thinking that I had a winner in my hands but...
Too bad I spoke too soon.

He drove me mad how he kept pushing her away.
She kept throwing herself at him, she was weak at least IMO, I wish she would have fought her attraction for him.

What started as hmmm I am trying to figured out book, it turned into something that I could not put down.
The story evolves around Gabriel Erhard and Jordan Culver. Gabriel hardened by centuries of torture is now drive to destroy his enemies, this same want for revenge darkens his soul and leaves no room for mercy. All he wants is revenge that is until he finds Her.
Jordan was seized by vampires, she is now bound as a slave and is placed on a auction block, but a handsome man rescues her from this fate, but her new captor vows to set her free, but his gazes at her show a desire she never seen or felt, and his kisses make her want this man more then anything.
Gabriel now not only battles his enemies but also must keep Jordan safe, she is begins to mean more and more to him and still he can't phantom why.
Will Gabriel win over his enemies and will he be able to keep her safe, read the book its a great story and the characters are superb.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I love love love paranormal and lately I am on a kick reading it. When I took this book the cover intrigued me as did the story’s blurb. I did read book 1 and so I knew Gabriel and his tortured soul. The brooding ones always get your heart right!!! Well they do me.

Jordan is raised as a hunter and she is a fierce chick. She is not going to be a stand around girl or take anything from anyone but when she is drugged, kidnapped and sold at auction, she can’t really fight against everything. Gabriel will do anything to find and save this woman. She has become his everything.

So this book I was excited to read but I gotta say it was really slow at the beginning. Now when a book is the first in a series you understand slow because of world building but this is not the case. It just seemed to drag a bit and I found myself putting the book down. The next thing about the story that I wasn’t a fan of is that Gabriel is all about finding Jordan to have her and possess her. She is throwing herself at him annnd he says no. He pushed her away. It got a bit tiresome.

What I did like about the story was the sexy times….*insert bow chicka wow wow music*. They were off the charts hawt. I did like the character chemistry between Jordan and Gabriel even if she was insta love with him…being a hunter I was a little shocked at this but the heart wants what the heart want I guess.

>Book Review – Caressed by the Edge of Darkness
>This book is the 5th in the Rulers of Darkness series and ends in an HEA. Gabriel is a vampire that hates humans. He was tortured and sexually abused by a human for years. Once he was freed, he fought to free all slaves and became the king of the outcast faction of the vampires in Las Vegas. The irony of Gabriel becoming fixated on a human slave, Jordan, is not lost on any of his followers. Even though this story is fantasy, human trafficking is not. The abuse the humans endure is detailed and unpleasant, but necessary to show how much suffering the evil ones in this story are doing.
>Of course, Jordan and Gabriel are fated mates. Both characters feel a pull towards each other. Gabriel fights the pull, due to his prejudice towards humans and his PTSD from his days as a slave. Jordan is used to abandonment and really isn’t expecting much. The lengths that Gabriel goes through to save Jordan and care for her are so romantic and alpha-hot. The next book is set up in the epilogue and looks awesome.
>I am a reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock. I am giving this book 5 stars. The book had a lot of editing issues, but the story was so compelling that I could not knock off a star. I do think that, being the 5th book, the editing issues should be resolved.

As a former slave, Gabriel feels VERY strongly about vampires holding others against their will. The connection he feels for Jordan (although he denies it and fights it with everything inside him) makes him a little...crazy when she gets taken.

In other words, he wages a one-Clan war against the vampires profiting off the slave trade. It's a pretty effective war, too. But Jordan keeps ended up tantalizingly out of his reach and that drives him a little more crazy and a little more bloodthirsty.

Rescuing her doesn't do him many favors, either. The poor guy is convinced that he's all wrong for her (him being a powerful vampire and her being human) and does his level best to push her away again and again.

Good thing Jordan's stubborn and just as determined as him. Because she pushes back and forces him to see that despite his vampiric beginnings, he's a good man and he's make a good mate.

A little bloodshed, a lot of glowering, magic, mayhem, and sexy times. Gabriel's chance to find love was a long time coming, but it was well worth the wait.

It took me a while to get into this book, and to be honest, I almost gave up at about 25% according to my Kindle. (I wish it would give me page numbers!) But then something happened, and Caressed by the Edge of Darkness got soooooo good! And addicting! I couldn’t put it down.

I know some people are over vampires and paranormal romance, but I still love them.

Some things in the book did bother me a bit, such as Jordan’s instant trust (and lust) for Gabriel, especially since she was a Hunter. And the beginning, as I said before, dragged for me. I thought I really wasn’t going to enjoy the book because of Jordan’s instant infatuation, but I’m so happy that I kept reading because the scenes between Jordan and Gabriel were fantastic.

The scenes between Jordan and Gabriel were five-star, but the in between scenes just didn’t do it for me and I found myself skimming ahead.

Overall though, I really did enjoy the book.

I have really enjoyed this series. This was a good book and I enjoyed it but only giving 3 stars because the grammatical errors were so severe that in some instances I had to actually fill in the blank with my best guess on what it should actually say. Plus the plot was a bit dull and seemed rushed at the end. I did love Jordan and her tenacious nature though. I seriously get tired of weak female characters that constantly need to be rescued and protected but this chick was tough and actually could defend herself. Definitely can't wait to read about Gannon and silvie.....that should be an interesting read. Plus Gannon just seems so sexy :p

Amanda J Greene has no problem getting the story stated. The emotion starts right away and the reader really manages to connect to Jordan.

This story managed to surprise me several times as well. I liked how balanced the characters were, I felt like each one served their own purpose and had a valid place in the novel.

Gabriel to me is a difficult character to understand his motivations. I found myself wanting to give him a good hard smack a couple of times, but Greene does a great job of showing his perspective as well.

I was very intrigued by the story, relationship, and how everything came together.

Most Intriguing one of the series

Well finally finished this book. I’ve been reviewing this series since the beginning and it’s nice that I get to see and what these characters grow and what becomes of them. This one I have to say is probably my favorite. I don’t know if it’s because of their tragic pasts, or the fact that it was more story and less bedroom play, I just don’t know but it was a really good story and ending with the start of Sylvie and Gannon’s goodness gracious, that one is going to be one hellfire of a story.

This book was more than I expected, and have been waiting for a long time for this one to finally be here!
Love Jordan's kick ass attitude and the fight she puts up, not sure what the other review means about her being weak......
Gabriel is a troubled man and nice to finally get to know a little more about him and see his changes. And my FAVORITE is Gannon with his humor and comic relief.
Left off revealing there will be more and can't wait to see how that develops! Please don't make us wait too long for the next book!

Good

I would have been more than happy to have given a four or five stars but there were so many typos and sentences started but not finished. I feel like the book was rushed considering how long it will took since the previous book in the series.

I will say that the plot was good and I love the series. I'm looking forward to the next book but I hope that wait won't be as long.

Love these stories

Really wish that you would use an editor or proof readers. Mainly because of the grammatically incorrect sentences, and odd words in strange places. That being said the story development is wonderful. I love Gannon and Silvie as a couple. With Gannon's Shaw blood maybe there is a chance for them. I am pulling for a great plot and story line that brings this full circle.

I liked how quick and smooth this read was. There is enough going on to keep my attention and to provide a getaway from all things reality.

The chemistry between the two characters was outstanding and their growth in their relationship and as people was wonderful to watch unfold.

Amanda J Greene really shows her writing skills when it comes to setting the scenes. She brings life to the world and characters she has created.

Decent story if...

You can get past all of the grammatical and spelling errors, different font sizes, and inappropriately used words. In desperate need of an editing overhaul - I had hoped that by the 5th book this problem would be fixed.

Given a 3 star rating due to the numerous spelling and grammar mistakes... great read as the others in the series, I enjoyed Gabriel and Jordan story, but somehow needs better proofreading. Looking forward to reading Gannon and Silvie's story

When I began reading Edge of Darkness I was hesitant in continuing but it was a series I dearly loved so I knew I just wasn't emotionally invested yet....and I would be. Oh yes, I would be.

In the beginning Gabriel is entranced with Jordan when he finds a picture of her in a cell which I thought was just stupid. To be smitten with someone just by looking at a picture. But the more pages I turned I was entranced by the world that Greene made up and all the characters that populated this series. So I considered that you could fall head over heels just by a picture.

And then we get to the blood and gore. Otherwise, the action. And not too long after that we get the sex!!

Yes, this book started out slow for me but it quickly turned into overnight madness! I couldn't put it down. And then we get to the last chapter which is basically a prologue to the next book. I can't wait to read Gannon's story and how he came back from the dead.

Wow let me say that the wait for this book paid off it captured from the begging one of the best of the series. Gabriel is a hard cold vampire an always has been but when he goes to a slave house to free the humans in one of the cells he sees a picture of a woman who he knows they are planning to put in that cell an once looking at the photo he is struck by how the woman captures his attention so he sets out to find her an once he does offers her a record contract so he’s able to keep her safe and tells her to meet him after she grabs her belongings but before she is able to meet Gabriel his enemy boras men takes her Gabriel is raged when he finds out she was taken after months of trying to find her he finally finds a clue of where she is so once he rescues her the fight starts he does not want to want her but she is on the brink of death so after one fight an no choice he has to decide what he is to do after finally realizing he can not live with out her will they spend together forever or will she have to die. This is a must read the whole stores is. Get your copy from amazon. You will not be disappointed!

Caressed by the Edge of Darkness is the fifth book in the Rulers of Darkness series, and it is time for Gabriel's story. He became obsessed with Jordan when he first saw her and tried to preempt her abduction by Boras. When he failed at that, he was desperate to find her. Now Jordan is not your typical wilting wallflower. She was raised as a hunter and is capable of protecting herself. However, her abductors decide to drug her to keep her pliant, and even she can't fight that.

I love a tortured hero, and you don't get more tortured than Gabriel. Once you read about his past, you understand why he is the way he is. Jordan is his perfect match if he would just trust himself. These two constantly spark off each other, making this a fun read. It is also sexy, with plenty of steamy times. We also get cameo appearances from Dimitri and Kerstyn and hints towards Gannon and Silvie.

This book is an amazing read, but the one thing that detracts from it is the editing and grammatical errors. Spelling errors are sprinkled throughout, which is a shame because the story itself is wonderful. I would recommend this book and series, but only if you can skim over errors without them affecting your enjoyment of the story.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
