If you haven't read any of the No Match for love books then I would recommend reading this one before reading Miss Match(which is the one labeled as #1 on Goodreads). But if you look at Amazon it lists Strike Your Match as #1. I actually heard from the author that she labeled them that way so if you are looking to read them in order as the author had planned, start with Strike your Match, Meet Your Match, Miss Match and then the others in subsequent order. Or follow the way they're labeled on Amazon. If you're not too worried about order then grab one and enjoy! This was actually my second book in the series. I listened to Strike Your Match first and then listened to this one. I'll probably just keep going in order since I'm the type of person who enjoys order. Lol. I have to know all the little details and see them build up slowly, or slowly be revealed in the order the author chooses. Or watch a tv series in order, I can't miss any little details. Yes, I'm a little OCD that way. But it works for me!

This novella deals with some serious issues, especially for children and teens to try and live with. Brooke's parents have recently separated and are heading towards a divorce. Brooke's father had an affair and it has changed her life around completely. She always believed in true love and thought her parents relationship was perfect. She idolized them, until the day everything fell apart for their family because of her father's choices.

Now Brooke finds herself the new girl in school and what should happen but day one of the new school year she overhears two really cute boys talking about who is going to win in getting her to date them. Uh uh, No way! There is no way that Brooke is even going to have anything to do with these two boys! Her trust in men and true relationships has been tainted by her father's choices and her mom's anger. Let's just say that Luke and Chris see that as a challenge and try nonstop to get her attention.

What ensues is some lighthearted banter and friendships and some heartache. I listened to parts of this while driving my daughters around and they kept begging to keep listening when I'd pause it after arriving at our destination, they really wanted to know how it ended. There was one part while they were listening that Brooke starts talking about the woman her dad had the affair with. She happens to say something about the woman's 'big boobs'. So if you're listening or reading with your teenagers or they're reading it note that that's mentioned a few times.

Brooke can't wait to graduate and move away to a real matchmaking agency to be a matchmaker. If she can just survive high school and the craziness of her life she'll live her dream soon enough.

Brooke was a cute character and Luke was not quite the player that he pretended to be. It was a cute story but wasn't my favorite of this author's books. But I d0 want to, and will, keep reading on in this series.

Content: Talk about divorce and an affair, nothing graphic about the affair just knowing that it happened. Brooke talks about the woman who her father had the affair with several times more in reference to her boobs.

I received a copy(audiobook as well) from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

****Audio Review****

I thought book one sounded cute and had a bit of an Emma-vibe to it so I was eager to try a new to me author and narrator. This prequel was noticed after the fact and so I decided to start at the very beginning. While the series is adult contemporary romance, this prequel is how it all began back in high school. It was a bittersweet piece that did it's job of introduction and set up for what is to come. And oh yes, the Emma-vibe continued and was even referenced.

The story opens with high school junior, Brooke Pierce, transferring to a new school as a result of her parents' separation. Brooke is torn up by her dad's mid-life crisis and cheating with his bimbo receptionist and her mom is angry and bitter after years of what seemed like the perfect marriage. Brooke had been secure and now everything is up in the air which is why being flirted with by Luke sets her hackles up.

Luke is captivated by the new girl who is pretty and acts like an ice queen to him and nice to others. It becomes his goal to thaw her out and get her to like him. But when Luke is there for a vulnerable moment with Brooke after her dad stood her up and he gets her story, he changes gears, sets aside his attraction, and follows her silly rules 'to just be friends'.

For both Brooke and Luke, the friend zone grows harder as time goes on. Brooke makes more rules and Luke struggles. Her fear of relationships after what happened with her parents drive her, but still her dream is to become a matchmaker. She will make the perfect matches for everyone else, but not for her.

Alright, I ended up enjoying this shorter story for the most part. It is not a complete story and functions as the set up for the longer book coming after it. While me heart was sad for Brooke's situation, there was also a part of me that was impatient with her the way she was treating Luke. Granted, he was going along with it, but its frustrating to watch someone whistle away a good thing out of fear and denial.

I thought the high school setting, the situation with their families, and the surrounding characters were well done. The tension between Brooke and Luke was about right and they are both likeable characters.

The narrator, Tiffany Williams, was a great choice. I enjoyed her storytelling and her voices for all the characters. I'm glad that I have the next book of the series with her doing the narration.

I can easily recommend this prequel that can be read by teen or adult. Not sure about the whole series which may just be for adults, but this one is versatile that can't really standalone without the rest.

Meet Your Match

Lindzee Armstrong

Received from the author.

MEET YOUR MATCH is such a feel good story. I read it in one sitting, well, it's only a little over one hundred pages, but it was really cute. I'm going to start the next book in the series, Miss Match as soon as I finish my review.

Brooke is sixteen years old and just moved to a new town just in time to start at a new high school. Her parents are separated since her dad had an affair with his assistant. Brooke is not interested in finding a new boyfriend or dating anyone. Of course, she meets a hot sexy guy on the first day of school! Luke is trying to get her to pay attention to him but Brooke thinks he's a player and tries to steer clear of Luke. They agree to become friends but nothing more than that. Luke is up for the idea but only because he thinks he can change her mind.

MEET YOUR MATCH finds Brooke as well as Luke finding it hard to remain " just friends" but Brooke stands her ground. Luke is struggling with all the new rules Brooke keeps coming up with in their friendship. The tension between Luke and Brooke that Lindzee Armstrong creates is perfect and right on the money.

I loved this story and I'm excited to continue with the series, No Match For Love. Brooke and Luke seems made for each other, the perfect match. I'm just wondering if Brooke ever realizes it. That is why I can't wait to continue this series. Bravo for MEET YOUR MATCH and to Lindzee Armstrong for leaving me wanting more. Will Brooke keep following her friend rules or will she give in to Luke and his charm? I can not wait to find out. I think Luke loves being the rock that Brooke can lean on but you know in his heart he wants to take it to the next level! Okay onto Miss Match!

Since I recently listened to Miss Match where Luke and Brooke become a couple it was fun to listen to this short book that gives us the background on these two who became best friends. We also learn the story of how Brooke and Zoe became friends, and why Brooke becomes a Matchmaker. It also explains the how and why Brooke came up with her rules for her friendship with Luke.

Brooke is going through a really rough time for anyone, especially a teenager. Her parents have separated and are divorcing because her dad cheated and now that woman is pregnant, add to that she and her mom recently moved so now she's at a new school. Thankfully Luke turns out to be less of a jerk than he appears when she first meets him. He listens to her and helps her through this rough time, plus he helps her out when his "friend" Chris tries to take advantage of Brooke at the school dance.

Since this wasn't the first No Match For Love book I've read, I liked finding out how their tradition of eating popcorn and critiquing and rating the model competition TV show together started. I didn't like how Brooke's mom's anger at her soon-to-be-ex had her putting all men down. This doesn't do Brooke any favors as she has to listen to this until she graduates and moves away from home. She ends up having to come to terms with this in another book.

As always, the narrator Tiffany Williams does a great job.

I gave this book 2 stars because it is lacking depth in the story. I originally bought this book because it was $.99 and I got the second (the first techniquely) book in this series free for me to give an honest review, and thought I would enjoy the story better with the knowledge of their previous encounter. I hope I am right! I am just starting to read the other story, so time will tell.

But just talking about this story, though, because that's what matters, right???

Brooke comes to a new school (just across the town) because of her father having an affair with his dental hygienist. Her father has become really unreliable when he is the one who asks her to talk about things. He just stands her up time and time again, this is really frustrating to read. I don't feel like she should be giving him so many chances.

This story was alright, I feel like it isn't very realistic at times, and that really annoyed me.

Also one main point that I wanted to make is that the time is during highschool, and as I am currently in high school, I can vouch for how high school is represented in this book is not even close to what really happens, at least not in my high school. Not everyone is so dramatic as they seem in this book. I got really upset when things are misrepresented.

I will not read this book again, but hopefully it was worth getting to know the back story before I read about when they are older as in the next book.

This was a cute short story and a good set up for the upcoming release of Miss Match.

Brooke is devastated when she finds out her dad has been cheating on her mom. She moves to a new place with her mom and has to start at a new high school. As much as I want, I won't vent about how upset I am with her dad. Anyway, she starts at a new school and catches the attention of school hottie, Luke. She thinks Luke is a player and refuses to go out with him. Which of course only makes Luke more determined. After awhile, Luke realizes his feelings are deeper than a quick conquest and really wants to be her friend...and hopefully more one day.

I thought the author painted a realistic picture of high school, the characters came across like teenagers and while the story was short it was fun. I forgot when I started it that it was actually a prequel, so I was happy when it ended and learned there would be more. I'm curious to see what happens with Brooke and Luke.

Content: Squeaky clean romance. No violence or language. Rated: PG

This is a novella that sets up the characters and background for the next book in the series, Miss Match. The characters are in high school and that is the beginning of their friendship. The characters felt young- appropriately so, and I could easily imagine them in the high school setting. I was glad I had the next book to delve right into.

This novella tells the story of how Brooke and Zoe became friends, how Brooke and Luke became best friends and why Brooke becomes a Matchmaker. It also explains how Brooke came up with her rules for her friendship with Luke so they would stay friends and didn't become boyfriend and girlfriend.
Since this wasn't the first No Match For Love book I've read (it's my 3rd) I liked finding out how their tradition of eating popcorn and critiquing TV shows together started. This is not my favorite of the No Match for Love series but it sets up things for Brooke and Luke in another book.

cute cute cute. I thought this was adorable. I loved how the relationship between Luke and Brooke developed from her thinking he was a jerk and a player to finding a true friend in him. The interactions between these two, as well as with the other supporting characters was fun. Felt real and believable and I'm really looking forward to Miss Match the full length novel to see where life leads these two fascinating characters once they are out of High School.

Rating: 3.5 stars.

This was a cute novella suitable for teenagers. At first I thought it was just going to be a typical teen book (boys and girls behaving like everyday high school kids), however the story improved as it progressed. In my opinion, I thought it realistically portrayed the hurt a child feels when his (or in this case, her) parents divorce.

Brooke was starting a new high school after moving into a new neighborhood with her mother. Distressed over her parents' recent separation, she was dreading having to make new friends, attracting attention as a "new girl" and answering questions about her family. Her father's infidelity coupled with her mother's negative attitude towards men, resulted in her inability to trust the opposite sex.

Luke was one of the most popular guys at Brooke's new school. Finding Brooke attractive and intriguing, he tried desperately to gain her attention. Seeing him as a player, she kept ignoring him. Once he changed his approach and an opportunity came for him to show his real character, Brooke and Luke finally formed a friendship. He was hoping for more than friendship but Brooke set up clear rules, so that their relationship would always remain platonic.

The book ended there. I, of course was quite eager to find out what happens to Brooke and Luke in the future, so I immediately started the next book "Miss Match". Will they continue to follow her rules and remain friends or will Brooke's resolve disintegrate over time?

This is a cute novella about Brooke. I liked her character. I liked the fact that even though she is young, she knows just what she wants to be when she grows up, a matchmaker, she knows just where she wants to work and she's got her life all planned out with out a trace of a cheating guy anywhere in it. Brooke's situation with her parents shows her just what she doesn't want or need in her life and that's why she's continually pushing Luke away. Until one day when she needs him because she has no one else in her life to really talk about her feelings with.

I liked that you get to see just what Luke is thinking in this one too! I liked that he was always so protective of Brooke with the guys that they went to school with and that he's able to help her out when she needs it most. I liked that he was willing to go along with all of her crazy rules, in order to keep her close to him.

This is a cute, clean novella that I enjoyed reading!

I was sent an e-copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good short story about Brooke Pierce. She is a high school student who swore off boys because her father cheated on her mother with a 20-year-old dental hygienist. She and her mom move to a new town and on her first day she meets the two guys, Chris and Luke. Well, she didn't meet them exactly but she heard them talking about how to "get the new girl". That causes her to have negative reaction to Luke, justifiably. But maybe there's more to Luke than the first impression. Should Brooke give him a chance?

This was a cute little story. I found Brooke to be justified in her reaction to boys by the betrayel of her father. Luke actually was a defent guy despite him acting a bit stalkery in the beginning. i did not like that.

Overall, i really want to continue reading this serisles and to know how Brooke and Luke reunite.

This quick read has all the elements of a great romance, and leaves you hungry for more. Brooke already heartbroken from the betrayals of her father meets Luke on the first day at her new school. Not wanting to be another one of his conquests, she resists his advances despite being increasingly attracted to him. And thus begins the will they won't they story. Brooke and Luke seem made for each other, despite being stuck in the friend zone. Armstrong does a great job bringing realistic characters to life in this fun novella. I can't wait to read more of Brooke and Luke's story.

For a guy who started out as such a jerk, Luke turned into a real nice guy, a frustrated one, but still a great guy. Brooke having mixed feelings about Luke makes for a strange relationship, but a real friendship built on love was started. It's a sweet, romantic story that makes you feel good.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

"Meet Your Match" was a wonderful tale by Lindzee Armstrong. This lovely story sets the stage for the future novels to come, it helps the readers to see a little behind the scenes action of what let to the original stories. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this little slip into the past, for it truly shows us the how and why the characters developed into the roles that they did.

Miss Match #1 - This well written romance takes place eight years after they met in high school. The characters, from Meet Your Match, are still believable, the dialogue realistic and the plot well thought out, fun with a touch of sadness. Definitely, a great relationship romance.

Not Your Match #2 - Heartwarming. Another well written, funny romance with believable characters and an interesting plot. This book is just as hard to put down as the other books by the author. The author writes substantial stories that reflect real life; not the fluffy, cozy type of books that are so common.

Mix 'N Match #3 - Paris sounds like fun. Heartwarming. A well written, funny romance with believable characters, realistic dialog and an interesting plot. I couldn't put the book down until the last word. This author never disappoints and her work is substantial, not fluffy.

Meet Your Match #4 - Fun. Not my age group, but this is a cute story about how high school-aged Brooke became a matchmaker. Another well written, interesting story with believable characters and storyline. Has a preview of what the book is about, which I appreciate knowing before I read any book.

Strike A Match #5 - Heartwarming! A well written, interesting romance with believable characters and plot. The book never looses the reader's attention and can be read easily in one sitting.

Mistletoe Match #6- Heartwarming with humor. Another well written, substantial, interesting romance with believable characters and fun plot. This book is just as hard to put down as the other books by the author.

Match Me If You Can #7 - Heartwarming with humor. Another well written, substantial, interesting romance with believable characters and fun plot. This book is just as hard to put down as the other books by an author who writes substantial stories that reflect real life; not the fluffy, cozy type of books that are so common. I contacted the author to review her books.

I did not like this book at all. I felt like it was written at a young adult level but the story was too mature yet terribly junior high/high school at the same time. People have shelved this as clean romance but I wouldn't agree. Dad is having an affair which tears the family apart. Mom says to her daughter, "He's shacking up with a twenty-year-old whore..." The high schoolers are dressed in highly sexualized Halloween costumes. "He could only assume from her skimpy costume that she was dressed as a pole dancer. Or maybe a stripper mid-act"; "... changed into a midriff-baring shirt and shorter mini that fit the more traditional pinup girl look; "...her eyes were assaulted by mini-skirts and cat ears...; ...pushed past a gaggle of slutty nurses".
And then there is the sexual harassment. I was just glad that a high school girl could recognize that for what it was and defend herself. Luke treated Brooke with respect but there was no evidence that he had or will treat any other woman the same way. Basically I thought I was getting a sweet, clean, romance but I felt like the entire story revolved around sex even if there were no descriptions of the actual act.

I went ahead and read the sneak preview of the next one and it doesn't look to be any better. Now they are adults and Luke gets plastered and is hooking up with an ex girl friend as she attempts to seduce him back to her apartment before Brooke intervenes. I won't be reading any further in this series. It is not my cup of tea...

Snagged this one on Amazon for free right after the New Year. I didn't realize it was a novella, despite picking up on the fact that it's a prequel of sorts, so I'm actually really glad I didn't pay the normal price for it ($3.99 on Amazon - which seems a little pricey for a NOVELLA especially when the rest of the series seem to be $2.99), because that would've affected it's score for me. In a negative way.

A very cute introduction of characters that I'm looking forward to getting to read more about in the first installment of the series. It's 3rd person, but also a dual POV which was super cool. You get to meet both, get to see inside both, but still get the overall story. Personally, I thought the rules were cute and endearing, but I thought that about the whole thing. I love that you get to see how much Luke actually really likes Brooke, even from their high school beginning. Before I was done with this one, I'd already purchased the first book to continue Luke and Brooke's story.

Go into this one knowing that it's an introduction of characters so that your expectations are correct. I read this one and then the actual novel, Miss Match, so not sure if that affected my feelings or not, but I also wouldn't have minded reading it post-Miss Match either.

After listening to Luke and Brooke's story, this book was a blast to find out how it all started. Brooke's disillusionment to relationships is made clear and Luke is oh so sweet as he tries to convince her otherwise. It's the perfect mix of high school love, all the feelings we can remember having at 16 years old. Plus we get to meet that cocky, annoying boy that thinks he can get whomever he wants and the bonding of new friendships as she enters a new school. Lindzee Armstrong is always able to take serious situations, like dealing with a parent's divorce, let us delve into the consequences on all involved, but make the story light enough to truly enjoy. She has a gift to give us sweet, loving romances!

Tiffany Williams is one of my favorites, and her continuing narration of this series just makes me happy. Tiffany lets us live through the characters with her many voices, each taylored to their personality. I truly enjoy her performances.

The start of "The Rules" for being just friends. I received this book as a freebie for signing up for Lindzee Armstrong's newsletter. I read Book 3 before this one so I had to go back to this one to find out how everything started between Luke and Brooke and all "the rules" of being just friends. I appreciated Luke's patience and respect for Brooke. It was nice to find him a true gentleman no matter how hard it was. It was interesting that Brooke could not accept her true feelings because most of us do that too. But even though It is easy to see this so clearly in Brooke, we do not see it so clearly in ourselves. I recommend continuing on to book 3, if you haven't read it already, so you can see how Brooke and Luke resolve their relationship, especially since this book ends in kind of a cliffhanger.

Fun and Flirty Short Listen Prelude to Series. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. This short story is the back story of how two friends met as teenagers (Brooke and Luke) and immediately were put in the friend-zone. This was a clean romance story but leaves me wondering if they will ever give in to their deeper feelings and leave the friend-zone and become more. The narrator does a great job performing the 3rd person POV and bringing the characters to life and holding your interest in the story. I went ahead and purchased the rest of the series and can't wait to find out if Brooke's plans to ever becomes a match-maker becomes a reality and what kind of antics Brooke and Zoe get into. I highly recommend this audiobook and encourage exploring this series.

Brooke is the desire of the school flirt Luke. Brooke wants nothing to do with him. Typical high school, Luke wants her even more than. Brooke is dealing with her parents divorce. Lindzee Armstrong brought out how much divorce can affect the children. I enjoyed that realistic part of this story. But the fun, flirty ways of Luke made this story captivating. Brooke was determined to keep him in the friend zone. This was such a fun romance with a bit of real life struggles. I was able to get lost in the book and feel as if I were right there with them.

Tiffany Williams has a great voice. I always enjoy her narrations. Ms. WIlliams is able to bring the characters to life. Her different tones keeps the characters separate. Ms. WIlliams range of tones is amazing, and her male voices are smooth. Ms. WIlliams enhanced the overall experience of this story.

I see that Goodreads ... calls it a "0.5" ... I wonder if I needed to read the others before this one? Amazon said nothing? it was a recommendation to me. I am new to Lindzee .. love the spelling ... way cool and different. Short and sweet novella ... books like this are so quick there is no way to fall asleep you will be done so quickly. ha. ha!! are you a reader like me who is all into their book and suddenly you wake up and realize the book is on your face and you wonder how long you were like this? you were enjoying it so ...but maybe you are thinking it will jump in through osmosis. apparently I see some one say that these characters are in book 1 as well. that is good to know for me ... I am hoping to read more from Lindzee very very soon. ( :
