DJ #2

Disrespectful Diva

Rate this book
Join Tara, better known as DJ DisDiva, and her best friend, Shazza, on a clubbing tour across the UK. Tara is living the champagne lifestyle as London’s hottest female DJ, producer and sound engineer. Her weeks are spent in the studio and her weekends spent clubbing it up, being paid for the pleasure. She is signed to one of the UK’s biggest record labels after the owner, Pops, takes pity on a down and out college student. One with a bad attitude, nothing but the clothes on her back and a head full of dreams of one day being the best DJ on the scene.

I think it’s safe to say, after a turbulent battle to the top, Tara deserves her time to shine. And shine she does, until her world gets thrown into a spin when Pops hires Dominic Clayton to manage the Xtreem radio station. He wastes no time in mixing things up and making his mark on the label.

Dominic’s reputation rivals even Tara’s and she knows there’s a good reason her best friend keeps warning her to avoid the sexy, yet arrogant, bastard. But how much can you avoid someone when you have to work with them? When they seem to show up everywhere you go. With a cocky smirk and devastatingly sexy green eyes, there is only so much temptation a girl can withstand before caving in and dancing with the devil. The only problem is, everyone knows, mixing business with pleasure is always a bad idea.

I have read all of Helen J. Barnes books and this one is my favorite of them all! This one is different than the rest. The characters are so much fun. DisDiva is on top of her game and unexpectedly Dominic comes crashing into her life. The push and pull is written so well. Dom needs a do-over and a good girl. He gets that with Tara. The side characters were brilliant. Can't wait to read more of this series!! Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 Stars!

A truly awesome love story unlike anything I have previously read, I Love Tara Powers aka Dis-Diva and her harsh don't give a f*ck attitude to almost everyone around her, expecting everyone to respond to her requests and demands when deep down she is nothing like that, I laughed out loud at her smart mouth and her inwards thoughts really cracked me up! Two particular quips have ingrained themselves in my mind! There is something really endearing and connectable with her character.

Dominic Clayton is a certified ladies man and basically sleeps with anyone with a pulse, I like how he is trying to be a different person and wants to try something he has never done when he meets Tara aka Dis-Diva. The fact that she doesn't just drop to her knees for him is brilliant and I was urging her to hold out on him as long as she could manage!

When they overcome their own insecurities and realised they are madly attracted to each other the story starts to unfold into untold drama especially for Tara aka Dis-Diva whose best friend Shazza cant stand to be anywhere near Dom! I loved Dom at the end of the book and some of the words he has for Tara are heart meltingly romantic! The second present he gave her for her birthday and the reasons behind it had me welling up.

I really enjoyed reading about the whole DJ set up and lingo and they storyline has got real merit and is easy to follow and not get lost even though I have no clue what some of the music equipment was! It is written so well that you don't get lost along the way.

I absolutely Loved the reappearance of Dayton and Alannah and also meeting the new members of the gang!

A truly amazing book that makes me want more! A MUST read! I really hope there are follow up books for Shazza and Lucy and few others who you read about in the book.

Disrespectful Diva, 5* huge fluffing stars.

Well there's no denying that I'm a huge fan of the Author, Helen J. Barnes. This woman writes my types of books. Hot, steamy, fun & realistic.

Helen never fails to drag me into her stories. When I first read her Inner Strength Series I was engrossed in her writing. But the DJ Series has me gripped and gagging for the next book.

In DD we get to me the famous Tara Powers and she is my type of girl. Feisty, strong headed & unique. But underneath her hard exterior is a woman looking for that one true love. Only the one man she falls for, is a man who she hates. Friendships will be tested and bonds may be broken.

From page one, you will be gripped, rendered speechless and engrossed into the world of late night party's, lots of after shots, and a love like no other.

If your after something different then this is the book for you. We don't get the billionaire who swoops you off your feet. We don't get the Virgin who plays all innocent but really isn't.

No! We get a book anyone of us could relate to.

I absolutely FLOVED this book! It was a breath of fresh air to read, it really was. The sizzling chemistry between Tara and Dom is thong- melting at its sweet finest. Dom, my goodness... I wish they turned him into a sweet.... I'd suck on his deliciousness all day long! Tall, dark and green-eyed.... Why, YES PLEASE!! He's the bad boy who's wrapped in sexy naughtiness. The banter between him and Tara had me laughing at my kindle, on many occasions. The one-liners, they too, had me laughing... A LOT. The secondary characters make this a vivacious, sassy read. It's fun, witty and yet emotionally heartwarming. The lovely author also gave us snippets of her previous characters from The Final Note, Alannah and the very gorgeous Dayton Scott. (Thank you ... Thank you) Disrespectful Diva really does have it all. If you've not read it yet... You really must check out this fabulous five star read. I honestly can't wait to see what this fabulous author has to offer up next.

I loved this book! I was honored to be asked to beta read it & I loved the characters, Tara, Shazza, Dominic, you get to see how other characters are doing like Dayton & Alannah from "The Final Note"!
Go on the journey w/Dj Dis Diva as she gets more responsibility at the label & has to work w/Dominic who at first she can't stand but there is a spark they both can't deny! He realizes there is more to Dis Diva than a name & a reputation... she is also a woman named Tara! Pick up Dis Diva to find out what happens... will they continue to butt heads or will that spark ignite into a flame?! Great descriptions, characters, you will feel like you are part of this amazing book! Also You might want to pick up "The Final Note" to read about Dayton & Alannah!

Disrespectful Diva by Helen J Barnes

Firstly I'd like to say thank you for giving Reading the Sheets book blog a chance to read your incredible book in exchange for an honest review (sorry it's taken so long).

I really liked this book, it's fast paced, had twists and turns that you may not see coming and ultimately makes you feel happy and smile. That's what I loved about it. Okay, so sometimes I wanted to grab certain characters by the hair and give them a good shake, but surely that shows a GOOD writing style, that I cared enough for them to get their asses into gear and stop acting like a prat!! So, on the whole, I really enjoyed it and would certainly recommend this, and the other 3 books also written by Helen.

DisDiva is a dj, she's one of the best in the business and in brilliant demand. She's that popular she's turning down highly paid jobs just to take a well earned day off. On those rare days off, DisDiva is Tara, she's no longer the gothic, rock the house, disrespectful diva. She's a simple girl who loves nothing more than her Micky mouse slippers, Netflix and her best mate Shazza! Tara and Shaz house share and have been best friends for years, in fact, best friends isn't enough, they are like sisters. They fight, fall out, call each other names and threaten to never speak again, but at the end of the day, if either of them needs anything, the other would come running every time.
Tara DJ's for a firm called Xtreem with her surrogate 'pop' as her manager. Pop, which everyone calls him as he is the 'father' of the Xtreem family, is getting married, and is looking to cut back his work load so he can spend more time with his receptionist wife to be, Val. This is when Val had the amazing idea of getting her son Dom into Xtreem to help Pops run the company and slowly take over more managerial roles. That's when the shit hits the fan. Shazza, a singer that covers some of the songs Tara uses in her mixes, hates the idea of a virtual stranger, with a bad reputation coming in and disrupting their happy little family. Tara isn't happy either, her role in the company is major, and although she is forever thankful to pops for taking her in and giving her a chance, she feels this move to employ Dom is a mistake. He's a known love rat, a drug dealer, spent time in jail and a stripper! Then she see's him.

As soon as Tara and Dom meet, the love hate relationship draws you in and you can't help but smile at their sometimes malicious banter. Tara can give as good as she gets and Dom is loving being knocked down a peg or two. However the 6foot, broad chest, chilled abs and killer smile hasn't gone unnoticed by Tara and she's nervous as to why he's affecting her like this. Find out what happens between these two as the story goes on. Sparks fly, music clashes and tempers flare, but if it's meant to be, it will be.

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless book chic’s ramblings and reviews
In the second book of the series we meet female DJ Tara, better known as DisDiva. Tara has always loved music and as a college student, couldn’t afford to pay for studio time at Xtreem, one of London’s top record labels so she persuaded the owner, Pop to let her work for him in exchange for what she really wanted, the opportunity to pursue her passion for hardcore club music, something her college course couldn’t offer.
Things have gone really well for Tara and she’s now not only a producer and sound engineer but also London’s top female DJ, living the champagne lifestyle with a huge fan base. She loves her life and doesn’t need a man, living, working and partying with her best friend Shazza is what makes her happy.

Her world is turned upside down when Pop employs Dominic Clayton to run the radio station at Xtreem. He’s sexy, arrogant and has a bad reputation but is also the son of Pops fiancée so even though Tara instantly dislikes him, she knows she needs to be nice for Pops sake.

They say there is a thin line between love and hate and even though Dominic is cocky, Tara soon starts to realise that what once was annoying is now becoming cute and sexy and she has to face the fact that maybe her feeling towards him have changed. She isn’t sure how to deal with these new emotions, especially as her best friend Shazza doesn’t even try to hide the fact she despises him and hates them being together.

When Xtreem is raided by the police, the finger is pointed at Dominic as the obvious suspect and just when he thinks everyone is against him, the last person he expected to stand by him and defend him does, and the real culprit is exposed.

Dominic and Tara are definitely an explosive combination and when the sparks fly, it’s like bonfire night, you see fireworks just from reading those sex scenes!
Tara has some tough choices to make, she feels like she’s being forced to chose between her best friend who she’s known for years and the man who she’s falling for that she’s only known a few weeks.

Will Tara and Dominic overcome the obstacles thrown in their paths and show everyone that people can change and deserve a second chance? You’ll have to read to find out. This is the second book in the series and my favourite so far.

I enjoyed The Final Note (Book 1). I absolutely loved this book!!
This book just pulled me in from the beginning and I got addicted to the characters and the story.
Tara (DJ DisDiva) is one of the biggest female DJ's in the UK. Tara hasn't always had it easy in life and she has had to earn her spot at the top.
Dominic Clayton has moved to London from Birmingham. He is being given the chance to manage the Xtreem radio station.
When Dominic and Tara meet they have this dislike for each other, both for different reasons. But do you know when you just love to hate someone? This is how these two feel about each other.
Dominic has a very bad reputation, worse then Tara's. Shazza (Tara's best-friend) has warned her away from Dominic. But how can you she keep away from him when he works in the same building as her and occasionally they have to work together?
He pulls her in with his sexy cocky grin and his amazing green eyes.

I love this book, I'm kind of addicted to this series now. I'm loving being in the DJ world with these characters.
Tara and Shazza are so funny and had me in hysterics, more times then I can count. I love their best friend relationship they have.
Dominic and Tara have personalities that just bounce off each other, and you can't help but want to read more about them!
It was very easy to be pulled into the story, you can imagine with these people performing or watching them play.
I love the fact that this book was a sweet romance story without too much drama.
I'm excited to go and jump into Crazy Perfection now. I love Shazza and can't wait to read her story!

Disrespectful diva ( 2nd Book in the DJ series) by Helen J Barnes
Reviewed for your next hot read
Absolutely spectacular 5 Star must read.
I absolutely love this series it is a breath of fresh air, something completely different to what i've read from all the books in the book world,
Tara powers, Aka Dis Diva, lives her life at the top of the DJ world and the reputation to match,
she's is the best of the best and by her side every step of the way is her trusted Side kick shazza.
Their chemistry is absolutely amazing with their one-liners and witty banter had me LOLing along with them,
They were never apart working in the studio together mixing and producing songs to entertain the masses of clubbers at the weekends , Life at the top was great for Tara and Shazza UNTIL Dominic Clayton came to work at the studio where Tara worked,
Dominic had a bad reputation himself , but with a fresh start he wanted to leave that all behind him,
The tall Green eyed swoon worthy sex God, had his sights set on Tara and the chemistry between them started to sizzle and heat up.
Dominic and Tara's banter was brilliantly written, and we had snippets of the gorgeous Dayton Scott from The Final note too,
This book is sizzling hot and has some great LOL moments The author has an amazing talents and the way she writes she brings the characters to life this book is truly amazing and I cannot wait to see what she writes about next ,
Excellent Job Helen xxx

After reading The Final Note I was looking forward to reading Disrespectful Diva as I enjoyed the whole DJ theme. We meet Tara - DJ DisDiva - and best friend Shazza who both work for Pops (and his wife-to-be Val) at Xtreem Records. The whole crew are like one big happy family, that is until Val's "chip off the old block" son Dom turns up to work for Pops too and Tara & Shazza start to gain distance between themselves. Shazza can't stand Dom, but a spark ignites within Tara and as much as she tries to fight her feelings to please Shazza, she can't resist Dom, and Dom had wanted her since before he met her.

Tara and Dom's relationship grows and Tara's friendship with Shazza slowly starts to crumble, but Tara can't fight her feelings any more. At first I was itching for Tara not to want Dom as I thought he was a bit smarmy, but as the story and his character progressed I really warmed to him.

Friendship is a forefront theme in Disrespectful Diva, it was lovely to see unlikely friendships formed - especially between Tara and a rival DJ - and old friendships rekindled. I like that we get to meet Dayton and Allannah again too as it really felt like a continuation of The Final Note.

I found Disrespectful Diva a really easy read and a great follow up to The Final Note. A worthy 4 of 5 stars and I look forward to reading more from Helen.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!

Tara is living the dream as a top female DJ, Producer and sound engineer. Dominic is starting a fresh; helping his soon-to-be stepfather at his record company. Both feel a force driving them together; can Tara open up and let Dominic in? Has Dominic left his past behind and changed for the better?

Helen J Barnes had delivered another epic British DJ romance. I loved Tara instantly; she isn’t afraid to say how she feels and doesn’t hold back, I loved her personality and sense of humour. Dominic’s arrogance and humour are irresistible; as much as you want to slap the guy, deep down you want to get down and dirty with him. I love how their story isn’t all about drama; Helen delivers a sweet romance story that takes you on a journey into the music industry world; you feel like you are living their dream right along with them. This book is full of laugh our loud moments, and suspenseful surprises; you will not be disappointed!

If you love romances with a difference and humour you will absolutely love Disrespectful Diva by Helen J Barnes. You don’t need to have read The Final Note to enjoy this book, however to get the full experience I suggest reading it first.

A Rockin' Love Story
This is part 2 in a series but can be read as a standalone. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to day I was not disappointed. This is the story of Tara and Dom. Dom is a Smokin hot manwhore, basically he's used to women throwing themselves at him, he can have any woman he wants. Then we have Tara, she's a strong beautiful woman with her Dis-Diva persona, which makes her a mouthy, jump when I'm talkin' to you kind of persona, but it's just an act. Tara isn't just any woman though and does not fall at Dom's feet although they are both wildly attracted to each other. They have wicked electric chemistry between the two of them once they finally get over themselves. There were so many funny parts to this book, these characters are hilarious! This book has a sweet and romantic side too. Dom really wants to be different for Tara and he does something so sweet I just wanted to cry! This was just an all around great read. I plan to grab part one next! Can't wait to read more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Holy Hell Batman! I freakin LOVE LOVE LOVE this story.

Tara, aka DJ DisDiva, is London's hottest female DJ, producer, and sound engineer. She spends her weeks in the studio, and her weekends clubbing. She has been signed to one of UK's biggest record labels, and she shines. Her boss, and surrogate father, Pops hires Dominic Clayton to manage the radio station, and her world is shaken up. She resents him, but also feels a connection to him, so she does her best to keep her distance. However, he feels the connection as well, and is making the temptation to cave in impossible to ignore.

Tara is a fantastic character. I loved her balls, independence, and fight. And boy could she bring men to their knees. Dominic is a HOT alpha that had me irritated at first, but just like Tara, soon I couldn't resist him. The well written, hilarious storyline flows very smoothly. Their chemistry is flammable, leading to explosive sexy scenes. One of my very favorite things about Helen J. Barnes, is the original and brilliant way with words. I couldn't get enough of Disrespectful Diva, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Praise to Helen J. Barnes on an amazing read!! Disrespectful Diva is now one of my favorite books!
Tara (Dis-Diva) is a talented, strong, independent Dj with a bumpy past. Dominic's past is even worse, especially pertaining to his promiscuous lifestyle until he moves to London to manage the studio and until he meets Tara. They seem to hate each other but that changes fast. They fall in love ... Even though Shazza, Tara's best friend is against it. Why does Shazza hate Dom? Tara and Dom hit some rough spots but they know that they were meant to be together. Now, Tara has to put together the biggest event that Xtreme has ever had. I don't want to ruin it and reveal the ending of the story so I guess you will have to read it to find out!
I absolutely loved Tara and Dominic's story. It was emotional in many ways and I couldn't fight back sad or happy tears in different parts of the book. Disrespectful Diva is definitely a page turner and Helen J. Barnes has you anxious to find out what happens next. Thank you, for writing an excellent love story!

After reading book 1 in this series I was only too happy to jump straight into this one! Whilst they can be read as stand alone I highly recommend you read them both. It was good to see Dayton and Alannah from book 1 make appearances. Tara is the DJ in this book and she like Dayton lives for her music she is one of the best DJ's out there, and it wasn't easy for her to get to that position! Dominic comes to work at Xtreem Records as manager and when he first meets Tara they don't hit it off to a good start they have a love/hate relationship. There is lots of sexual tension between them which of course they succumb to. We all have skeletons in the closet, but when Dominic 's show their face it's not welcome! Every one has a past and done things they wish they hadn't, but unfortunately you can't change the past. Do you let the past get in the way of your future? This is a decision Tara has to make!! You have to get this book and follow their journey you won't be disappointed. I am so glad I have book 3 to read, I really like this series another 5 star read.

This is such a great story that I did not want to put it down. There is Tara Powers who is the hot female DJ, she is known as DJ DisDiva, she rocks out the clubs with her great sounds. DJ DisDiva and her BFF Shazza are about making great sounds together, they are living the good life. But their friendship is put to the test when along comes hot looking guy name Dominic. When Dis Diva (Tara) and Dominic meet, there is sizzling chemistry between the two; they don’t like each other but they do have to work together. Dominic is working in the same radio station that Tara works at as a producer. Tara has heard about Dominic’s past, and then Tara’s rival D.J. is also a person from Dominic’s past. Tara is really a shy person who has a wall built around her heart and not looking for love. But she is a strong feisty person who can have it all the music world, hot romance and still have time for her best friend.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Disrespectful Diva had a much more high energy feel to it, when compared to The Final Note. But it wasn't high energy in a suspenseful way. It was high energy in the way that both Tara and Dominic give their all. It's obvious to see in the writing of Helen J. Barnes and you almost feel drained after reading Disrespectful Diva, as if you were the one doing what Tara or Dominic were doing.

It's definitely a lesson in don't depend on others to think you know people. Both Tara and Dominic aren't at all what they're first represented as and you easily see that at different books in Disrespectful Diva.

I enjoyed both The Final Note and Disrespectful Diva very much, especially because I don't think I've ever seen any books about DJ's. So it stands out in that respect especially.

Disprespectful Diva (DJ Series)- Helen J Barnes - 5 stars

Refreshingly another standalone book in the DJ Series !

Tara aka DJ DisDiva and her bestie Shazza are on top form and make a wicked team, then Dominic comes along and confuses everything ! Tara's nice safe world of mixing is torn apart, will she give in to her desires?

Wow how I love this book ! from the very first pages I can feel the chemistry oh and the humour is brilliant. Right from that first Dr Pepper moment I was hooked and loving every minute.

Whilst I did find this a little predictable in places, the story was well written, there was never a dull moment and I love how the characters from the first book connect into this book. I'm definitely gonna be looking out for more by Helen J Barnes, I love the romance along with the current edge and humour thrown in - a brilliant mix (excuse the pun)!

I think I fell in love with this book more than i was with Final Note.... But its a damn close call. I'm loving this series and Helen knows how to pull you in from the beginning not letting go til the end.

Tara and Dominic omg... their chemistry together was sizzling my damn kindle pages... holy crap was it intense. This book is not only funny, and sassy its heart warming as well. gah all i want to do is say good things about this book. haha. You seriously need to read it theres not much else I can say except what are you waiting for go click on it. You will not be disappointed.

Tara is freaking hilarious. she has this i dont give a F attitude that works for her. And the things she comes up with in her head and smart mouth comebacks had me rolling in tears from laughing.

Dominic is swoon worthy times 100 maybe more. But hes also a man whore who will sleep with any female. But hes trying to be a different person and wants to try something new with Tara. He's wanting more.

I have to say I am a total Helen J Barnes fan.

DisDiva Tara is one of the hottest female DJ's in the UK with her don't fuck with me attitude, talent and beauty.

Dominic is hotter than fire with the bad boy manwhore reputation.

So you can only imagine the sexual tension these two lovely charters create. Tara is very guarded and keeps her circle of people she let's in minimal. But once Dominic arrives he starts to disturb her nice little world she has incased in a bubble. Dominic wants nothing more than to hate Tara but he can't seem to fight the pull that he has to her. Just when Dom starts to break down Tara's walls they seem to go back up once Tara finds out that Dom has not been completely honest with her. Can Dom prove to Tara that he is the one for her?
Can Tara allow herself to be completely vulnerable with Dom?

This is a must read.

I read this one first because I was assured it was a standalone so it didn't matter what order I read them in.

Tara is a successful Dj who thrives on her success. She is hard headed and focused until Dominic walks into her life. She hates him, at first. He's arrogant and up himself.....

Dominic has made some bad choices in life, but he decides to move to London and make a fresh start. A fresh start that he had no idea would turn out include the world famous Dj Dis-Diva.......

I really enjoyed this book, I could hear the tunes in my head. As a girl that loves club tunes I could really understand the book.
I'm looking forward to reading the other one. I'm hoping the next book will be Shaz or Lucy's story.

This is the second book in the Dis Diva series but it can be read as a standalone. Pop’s is getting married and bring in his future step son to run the radio station. Shazza hates him on sight but Tara is attracted to him despite his bad reputation.
Set in the background of the hard core clubbing scene we follow DisDiva as she fights her attraction to Dominic and tries to keep her friendship with Shazza.
I really enjoyed this book and it was nice to get an incite into the world of the famous DJ’s. Dominic was hot and the sex scene’s between them were scorching hot.
Im hoping that the next book in the series is about Shazza.

This books is fun, exciting, eventful and sexy! Tara has come from a life that wasn't the greatest, lost her parents and was given a second chance by a stranger who is now more than a friend, but family! Tara and her betsy Shazza live the DJ life to the fullest and enjoy what they do! But when Dom walks in with his sexy body, handsome face and a mouth of sin things go off the rails in more ways then one!
Doms been a player for a long time and he ended up in a bout of trouble before moving to London! When he walks in to the DJ studio and sees Tara, well let's just say sparks fly and a DJ is gonna be his next woman! Except she's not like all the others and he wants more from her!
What a great fun and interesting read!

Helen J. Barnes has done it again with the 2nd instalment of the DJ series.

This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading The Final Note first purely because that is an awesome book as well and a few characters from that book are featured in this one - but not so much in that if you haven't read it you wouldn't understand the book.

Tara Powers is a feisty lady who packs a punch even though being a midget. Dominic Clayton is a cocky, dirty mouthed, hawt man who you can't help but fall for.

Their chemistry in the book is so sexy and well written that you can't help but be drawn into their journey.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did & bring on the next book.

Man I thought I loved the characters in Final Note but I'm really loving Tara and Dom as well. This series is just getting better with each book!!! I loved Tara and her sassy, kiss my a@@ attitude. Dom is one of those men that sleeps with just about anyone but he's looking to change his ways and when he meets Tara he decides to try it with her. She's not like all the other women he encounters and she doesn't cave into him and make it easy that's for sure. I loved the banter between these two characters. The comebacks had me laughing so hard! You definitely don't want to miss out on this book or this series.

I absolutly loved reading Disrespectful Diva this was a totally different read for me. I enjoyed every minute of it. This was a first time read for me by this author and will be looking for more of her work in the future. This is the story of Dom and Tara. Dom is a manwhore who is really hot and can have any woman that he crosses path with. Tara is one tough cookie with a mouthy attitude and a diva persona. Can't wait to see what happens next really enjoyed Disrespectful Diva.
