Disrespectful Diva by Helen J Barnes
Firstly I'd like to say thank you for giving Reading the Sheets book blog a chance to read your incredible book in exchange for an honest review (sorry it's taken so long).
I really liked this book, it's fast paced, had twists and turns that you may not see coming and ultimately makes you feel happy and smile. That's what I loved about it. Okay, so sometimes I wanted to grab certain characters by the hair and give them a good shake, but surely that shows a GOOD writing style, that I cared enough for them to get their asses into gear and stop acting like a prat!! So, on the whole, I really enjoyed it and would certainly recommend this, and the other 3 books also written by Helen.
DisDiva is a dj, she's one of the best in the business and in brilliant demand. She's that popular she's turning down highly paid jobs just to take a well earned day off. On those rare days off, DisDiva is Tara, she's no longer the gothic, rock the house, disrespectful diva. She's a simple girl who loves nothing more than her Micky mouse slippers, Netflix and her best mate Shazza! Tara and Shaz house share and have been best friends for years, in fact, best friends isn't enough, they are like sisters. They fight, fall out, call each other names and threaten to never speak again, but at the end of the day, if either of them needs anything, the other would come running every time.
Tara DJ's for a firm called Xtreem with her surrogate 'pop' as her manager. Pop, which everyone calls him as he is the 'father' of the Xtreem family, is getting married, and is looking to cut back his work load so he can spend more time with his receptionist wife to be, Val. This is when Val had the amazing idea of getting her son Dom into Xtreem to help Pops run the company and slowly take over more managerial roles. That's when the shit hits the fan. Shazza, a singer that covers some of the songs Tara uses in her mixes, hates the idea of a virtual stranger, with a bad reputation coming in and disrupting their happy little family. Tara isn't happy either, her role in the company is major, and although she is forever thankful to pops for taking her in and giving her a chance, she feels this move to employ Dom is a mistake. He's a known love rat, a drug dealer, spent time in jail and a stripper! Then she see's him.
As soon as Tara and Dom meet, the love hate relationship draws you in and you can't help but smile at their sometimes malicious banter. Tara can give as good as she gets and Dom is loving being knocked down a peg or two. However the 6foot, broad chest, chilled abs and killer smile hasn't gone unnoticed by Tara and she's nervous as to why he's affecting her like this. Find out what happens between these two as the story goes on. Sparks fly, music clashes and tempers flare, but if it's meant to be, it will be.
