JET - Ops Files, Terror Alert picks up the story of Maya, the operative who would become Jet, on her first mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she must race the clock to stop a terror attack that would change the world order.
I got sidetracked on a TV series while reading this so it took me quite a while to finish. Still, Maya kicks major gonads in this, saves thousands of lives, and I absolutely loved it.
I'm so used to reading about "Jet" that it is fun to read about Maya, to see the glimpses of the woman she will become. I think it's funny how everyone under estimates her, stupid when her instincts are good. Had people listened to her a lot less carnage would have happened. I liked how at the end Maya seemed to take the last step in becoming Jet.
Jet Ops Files Terror Alert is another fun, fast-paced addition to the Jet series. This one's about Jet's first mission. I like reading about Jet’s early years, especially after having read all the other books. If you like globe-trotting kick-butt action, you’ll dig this story.
Love these early stories about Jet's development as Mossad agent, Maya. She has a few slip-ups that the more experienced Jet wouldn't have, but still manages to save the world.
I liked this book, but it's a typical write-by-numbers action adventure with a heroine that can do no wrong, and who manages to be in the right place at the right time so many times it's not funny. Will I continue with this series? Possibly, but I've far too many beter books to read in the meantime.
So Maya has survived her first mission, and is back training with Mossad. She gets sent to Dhaka, to help the two agents there surveil a terrorist suspect they think is involved with something, but not sure what. Sure enough, Maya's actions (she doesn't want to just sit in a car taking photos, she wants to "do something") start a sequence of actions that lead to the death of one agent, and a confirmation that an attack is planned in Manchester, England. So she gets sent to help the local agent there, who she also manages to get killed while they are following up on leads. Thankfully, she now knows who she is after, and she somehow follows him, and prevents the original attack on the football stadium (which is really the target only because Russian mobsters want to collect the insurance money from the attack, because the money launderer has managed to lose their own money somehow) Maya follows the terrorist as he makes his escape, only to realise he's got a secondary target planned, and has to prevent the attack (which of course, she does) It ends with Mossad deciding that she's not really suited to being a spy, but she'd make a perfect assassin.
A further prequal and this one lacking at bit......certainly some of the scenes were sp[ot on.....like the fog rolling in off the English Channel [witnessed that a few times]....but also some things not making too much sense [artistic license perhaps] like the terrorist killing the farmer [not sure many farmers would actually act in that manner] but in all a good link between the start of Maya becoming becoming a strong focussed women known as Jet and the final transformation.......onwards to the rest of the series
I was able to borrow this book from my local library. This second ‘back story’ of how Maya became Jet, pretty much completes the transition to the total badass woman. Not that Ms. Jet isn’t constantly evolving, learning, becoming even more deadly, more forceful, but the how/when/where is more defined. I’m now more attuned to Mr. Blake’s writing style that jumps around a lot, that now makes sense. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to put these stories down!
A New Government Assassin Serial - Only it's not Ours...
Maya is gone of the Israelis best. An elite, young trainee off better than but greener than those she reports too. How is it that she saves their hide and still completes their !mission despite being assigned surveillance? Yes, she's that good.
So I’ve read the two pre-quells to Jet and I’m hooked! Maya moves at “jet speed”... She is just what I’ve been looking for; a true heroine. There are so many books with great guys doing amazing things but I haven’t found too many with women in the lead role. Blake has added me to his email list and I’m looking forward to reading at the speed of a “Jet”!
This was evidently the second prequel to the Jet series. This book, as well as the first one, unveiled a lot of information about Maya, aka Jet, especially regarding her past. It's an intriguing and intense story with many unexpected twists that you certainly won't want to miss. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
But a bit confusing. Where does Jet fit in. No one has referred to Maya as Jet. But other than that, it is an intriguing storyline with exceptional talent of Maya.
Plot got confusing in the middle (I thought insurance angle was unnecessary) but still a fast-paced thriller. It is fun to read about Jet’s beginnings.
I am completely enamored by the Jet Series by Russell Blake. I read each one, twice. I read each one and then had to read them again. I loved these so much that I purchased several audible versions so that I could continue on in the books I was on. The Ops Files II was a read that gives you a much bigger picture of the story of Jet. My favorite female protagonist in a long time. Strong, deadly and wickedly smart, a step above the rest and this tale gives readers insight to how she became the top of her game, how her life changed and how the skills she learns earlier on are oh so critical to her future. Well done Russell Blake!
mossad agent Maya (jet) early missions prior to being selected for a specialized unit. Extremely fast pace, full of action a great read! Enjoyed tremendously!
Five stars was easy, when the book is fun to read. I guess I really can not complain about any thing, and if you like a good shoot-em up with good character development getting better each book, give it a try.
