This book contains a simple yet descriptive and humorous rhyme about a different animal for each letter of the alphabet.
I really like this book as the rhymes are very catchy and accompanied by vibrant pictures of each animal.
I think that this book is a great early introduction to poetry for the early years, as they would enjoy having their teacher read them aloud using facial expressions to add to the humour of the rhymes.
As well as being a great book to use during story time, it could also be a useful aid for phonics lessons in the early years. This is because the first letter of each animals name is printed largely on the top of each page. The teacher could encourage children to practice the sound of the letter, as well as blending sounds together to decode the name of each animal. The bright illustrations may also be used to prompt the children on more difficult animal names.
This book is a very useful teaching aid for a number of lessons. This includes aiding the learning of the alphabet in year one alongside phonics lessons. The alliteration within the rhymes would also aid literacy understanding, creating an interest in poetry.
On a more basic level, the book allows children to learn the names of different animals and some of their characteristics.
This is a poem book and you go through the jungle learning animals and letters they begin with. A fun way to learn your alphabet and colourful great! I would Use it with EY great for intro into the learning of the alphabet and the animals. Could be used in EY teacher led to work with children to teach initial learning of alphabet.
