Not Quite Terran #1-5

Not Quite Terran

Rate this book
Rebecca’s job is to keep unsanctioned aliens off Rilli Space Station. Aliens like Karru C’Hali. He’s heavily muscled, gorgeous, seductive… and unsanctioned. And he wants her!

As an intake officer for six years, nothing surprises Terra-born Rebecca Varda anymore. Nothing. Except the arrival of Karru C’Hali, Overlord of Palia. He’s nearly seven feet of honey-skinned, heavily carved and deliciously muscled male, and his presence has her heart racing with apprehension. Not because he’s unsanctioned, but because Palia—and their people—are a myth. Maybe.

Even if they aren’t, he can take his unsanctioned alien ass off Rilli. When he doesn’t, she decides that if he wants to run afoul of the station director and end up in a federation holding cell, it’s no concern of hers. Until it is. Rebecca finds herself wrapped in Karru’s arms and embroiled in the drama surrounding Palia, Rilli, and a long lost royal family line that ends with… her.

Finding where you belong

This is an amazing read. The author made each character and experience interesting and exciting. I love that this leading lady found something she didn’t know she was missing and how her hero was there for her and no other would ever come before her. This book was a completely new take on an alien life with the perfect HEA. I am looking forward to the next book by this author

DNF - only made it to 18% before I gave up.
Read 18% of this with KindleUnlimited.
I was totally lost with that 18%, nothing made sense & I just didn't care for the heroine. I think the hero was introduced the last few pages before I quit, but there was not enough at that point to form an opinion of him. Wasn't worth wasting my time trying to get somewhere to even like this.

Fun story. I like how Rebecca knows what she wants, and what she is willing to do to get Karru back. I don't think that I would mess with her.

I really like it. Better than Tave but not anywhere as good as the Commanders Chosen.

Honestly I feel the title says it all ... I read The Commanders Chosen 1st out of the 3 box sets and the Commander has been my fave it was such a fascinating and interesting book to me soo many good and yummiest layers to the story and so many pov s
I was great and thou I know not everything a writer or anyone can be gold every time for me it set the bar soo high, well I feel a lil like a jerk comparing them to each other because each series is soo completely different in their way ,the only thing in common is they all involve aliens and their written by the same writer... That's about it,but as it goes I Loved tThe Commanders Chosen, barely finished Tave and really liked Not quite Terran, soo it's kinda in the middle of the two....
A game of more and less for me , less of Rebecca alone all the time at spending almost the 1st half the book in a near constant state of nearly blind panic, who's gonna attack her or attempt to rape her next , her constant fear of upsetting anyone especially her boss ,coz loss of her job will make her a victim to rape etc. for sure... And more pics ( not a big fan of single pov books, only occasionally is it done in a wait that doesn't leave you frustrated and feeling like you missed something, more Karru ,he was an uber sweet and loving guy both us readers and definitely Rebecca needed more of him... And I don't know about you but I also needed Karru to feel a lil stronger and just there physically but in every which possible, mentally, emotionally, I don't he just felt too passive at times.... I mean it's great Varr helped bring Karru and Rebecca together but Varr should have know this weird and really warped thing was gonna happen ,about the moment she was quote "seen with a male" she virtue was gonna be even more up for grabs than it was before, they should have known the trouble that was gonna be started and had a plan to protect her..
But No! Trouble was constantly started and she was left to face it alone,if not the 1st time at least the second time someone should have been in place to to help and protect her, especially since he was supposedly been falling for her for a good while now, too male quote "alpha males" out there just seem to be controlling jerks, using being being protective as an excuse to control and dominate, and while Rebecca turned into a very smart and strong woman,it would have been nice is Karru had been more Alpha in a loving and protective kinda way where she could stand her own but not necessarily all alone... I'm just not sure how to put it, I just needed MORE from Karru more time in the story, more of him with Rebecca , more strength just MORE! It just felt if it weren't for her love and desire for Karru ,he wouldn't have been there at all after a certain point , he was supposed to be a lead character with her and yet he almost felt like a throw away character, there but not quite... It felt too centered on Rebecca as a single and not enough as Karru and Rebecca as a couple and at a certain part of the story it should feel like a couple and not two individuals but it almost never got to that place…
Liked it but it needed more for me...

I enjoyed reading this series. The Characters were dynamic and I felt for them from the word go. However I felt that they got stuck in first impressions too long. They somehow never grew to sort out their problems until forced to do so. I hope this does not mirror real life or we as a people/society are in a lot of trouble.

They kept making the same mistakes over and over by not communicating with each other, of waiting until later or living from crisis to crisis which is just stupid in an alien situation. I kept shaking the book and shouting 'READ THE MANUAL ALREADY DAMMIT'. I wanted to shake her soooooooo bad. the heroine was a bit of a do do head for my part and the guy was just being a dumbass for most of the book by not explaining himself. I mean how long are you going to claim to protect the woman from the real situation? until she is dead? come on....

Though I felt frustrated by the characters choice at times. I still enjoyed the book and read every word. Some people I know frustrate me in the very same way.... by being Ostriches with their life situations. Nice job Ms. Tate.

Awesome alien meets his match

LOVED this book! I've read Celia Kyle's Dragons of Preor series, and this book is totally different -and just as good. Karru is a myth - or rather, his people and his planetary empire are. Call Palia, Karru's home, a far-future space dwellers' Atlantis myth. But when Rebecca,Terran federation employee on Rilli station, meets Karru, he's a big problem An undocumented alien on Rilli station? In her quarters? Her slimeball leering boss is all over her about that, and she's gonna lose her job.... Not to worry. Between smart and unexpectedly badass Rebecca, and powerful, totally up-front badass Karru, they'll get it sorted. As soon as they get themselves sorted, that is. This is a clever and steamy alien SF romance where nobody is exactly who they think they are/claim to be, and the H and h are pretty much forced to make it up as they go along. Fortunately, Terran girls are dreamers, so it's no problem. With its fairy tale ending and a hint of more to come, this 5-part serial-in-a-book is well worth reading.

Rebecca's job is to keep unsanctioned aliens off Rilli Space Station. Then she meets Karru C'Hali, a male from a race that isn't supposed to exist. He's heavily muscled, gorgeous, seductive... and unsanctioned.

***Not Quite Terran is written in the short story serial format.***

“Not quite Terran is a five-part serial series with part one through three already published with part four and five on its way. Erin Tate has shown great promise as a new author in the sci-fi genre. She writes characters that are/can be realistic personality wise. Her female lead Rebecca is rather enjoyable as a character. Karru C'Hali is portrayed as extremely vulnerable, powerful, kind of bashful and in no way arrogant. He was one of my favorites in this series. I would totally recommend you pick up the series, you won't be disappointed.”

I CAN DIG IT.

I gave it four stars instead of three because the writing style was polished and the editing was good. You know what I mean with these short stories right? Okay so the plot was a little under developed our lacking a little bit. Not enough depth for me. Example; girl in tough spot, boy meets girl, boy saves girls ass, they fall in love, brief and I mean very brief opposition, HE A. Cute little quickie is the verdict from me. Sorry Celia, I just needed a little more from you.

A n interesting story with so many good points!

The story reads very smoothly and is hard to put down. The plot was interesting and different, a female lost their, t h e pacing was good, so it reads easily. The characters were cool. I got Rebecca's aloofness and her growth throughout the story. The supporting characters were varied and described in great detail. I was glad to find the whole story without cliffhangers too. There were so many good Subplots and side characters that the story just kept growing.

Rebecca is an intake officer on a space station, human (in appearance at least), and very serious about following all the rules of the federation so she doesn't get in trouble or hurt. Karru is the ruler of Palia (a planet that vanished millennia ago), a hunk, stubborn, full of honor and determined to have Rebecca as his mate. I loved this story the first two times I read it and it didn't disappoint on the third reading. A great plot, fully thought out world with the attendant changes from our current earth normal. Fantastic characters and writing. Fantastic story Erin Tate!

Sci-fi Romance, Alien style

I am fairly new to this genre... I liked the story line, it was fun to read. I liked the characters; they were diverse, developed enough I cared about & for them, and also fun to follow their trials & tribulations.

I loved how most of the lead characters were strong, independent, and had right from wrong from the beginning.

I hope Erin keeps this going...as a series. I'd love to see where this story leads.

A quick, enjoyable read

I had not read Erin Tate before, but was so intrigued by the intro to Part 1, that I jumped in and downloaded the whole series. I'm glad I did, because I didn't want to stop reading. So much action in so few words! As I said in the title, it was a quick, enjoyable read. I'm going to search out and read other works by Erin Tate.

Strong woman, hot alien, great story

Fantastic story. The human woman is the main focus. She is strong. She is brave. She is smart. And she is special. But it takes an alien male to show the universe just how special she is, and to keep her alive. This book had great characters and a great plot.

Fantastic

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved Rebecca and Karru's characters. They made a great couple, and the plot was interesting and held a few twists. I also loved Rebecca's take-charge, independent personality. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Another great book!

I loved this book. The only thing that would make this book better would have been to remove the parts. It made it read like a serial, and was a little disconcerting. I would be reading, getting in the groove, then WHAM! Part two, Part three, etc.

Please give us more

This is one of those books that should have at least one more book. I'd love to follow the story of Kia. It's to the writer's credit that their writing is so engaging that secondary characters attract a following as well as the original ones. Hope to read more.

Wasn't expecting that!

So wasn't expecting her to be from a royal line and become empress of a collection of planets. Glad the bad guys got what's coming to them.

It's ok. All 5 books make up one very short story of roughly 200 pages on my e-reader. Why the hell it was separated in 5 ,I have no clue.

So story. It had the potential to be good, but due to extremely low page count,it is rushed and unpolished. And it misses an actual plot.

Yes,it is readable, yes,it may make an easy, quick bedtime read and yes,it will not be remembered in the morning. It is too forgettable to be truly enjoyable .
