I saw this at the library and I knew I had to have it for my house. Now that I work at a library, I rarely purchase books anymore so it's a testament to this book that I went out and got it immediately. The photography is amazing and I knew my little girl would love it. The book is rather large and has a bit of heft so the pictures are of high quality and large. It makes a great coffee table book, especially for Galveston!
Beautiful pictorial journey of the history of the sea that takes the reader down to the depths and to the many areas a lot of us don't see. The author was very informational without talking over the reader's head. It ended with a discussion on how the of the sea/ocean has influenced writings and music and art.
THIS BOOK IS FULL OF BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, QUOTES AND INFORMATION about our oceans!!! I love it and I’m glad I saw it while at my favorite piece of the ocean. Thank you BB… you are the gift that keeps on giving!! 💚✨💚✨💚✨ TOPS
Book 09/69: the life and love of the sea by Lewis Blackwell. The photographs, the quotes, every part chapter of this fine piece of ocean non fiction was read out loud to my dog as a way to calm her down and practice enunciation. And a perfect read as I continue to get informed about one of my favorite topics: the ocean.
Some of the photos in this book are beautiful but overall I was underwhelmed. I think many of the photos would have worked better had them been smaller, increasing their resolution.
