Botched up ebook formatting, in parts completely outdated and the marketing tipps (geared towards non-fiction writers) can be summed up with: Post everyday on social media that you have a book out. Even beginners might not gain any insight apart from "post regularly on social media".
Great book. Some marketing information that I wasn't aware of, as well as plenty of links and websites to bookmark. Well organised. I will be using the 90 day plan starting May to market my work. I already have all social networking accounts mentioned but Barb brought a new perspective that has made me want to update my various profiles. Very smart and intelligently written.
This book covers all of the basics of how to easily market a kindle book. There are steps and lists and checklists covering start to finish steps. Highly recommended.
This book provides a 90-day template for marketing your book in just 5-minutes a day. However, there are a few disconnects. While using Hootsuite is mentioned in the set-up, the plan has one post to separate social networks each day, which takes up time that Hootsuite could save for you, meaning that other 5-minute ideas are lacking.
If you've never put together a marketing plan for your book, it's a good starting place. But if you're serious about book marketing, you'll want to dig deeper and focus on more than just promos and social networks.
Easy to read and understand, most things I was aware of but as someone new to idea of marketing I found this book helped me to see clearly the direction I should be taking. C!ear and concise instructions made it all appear 'do able' and took away a lot of my trepidation. Can't wait to put some of the ideas into practice. Will definitely be looking out for more 'how to' books by this author.
Chopping tasks into little bits isn't really my style. But if you jump around from one thing to another easily, this would work for you. I prefer to spend an hour on something rather than five minutes on this site, five minutes on another site, and so on. I suppose this method works best for those with attention disorders. Still, there are helpful checklists and setup instructions for various social media and such.
A very short read. It includes a three-month plan you can follow, but focuses primarily on social media platforms. If you already know what Facebook pages are and what Amazon Author Central is, this book is most likely not for you. If someone is a new author and has no idea where to begin, this would be one to pick up and get an understanding of some of these concepts.
This book is great for those starting out on their writing and self publishing journey. It wasn’t what I needed as I’m already aware and implementing most of the ideas suggested, but that doesn’t take anything away from the useful, well compiled content. The 90 day schedule is a great idea. I will have a go at starting and sticking to my own marketing schedule.
I was expecting intermediate or advanced advice since the title said "get more sales"; however, it was very much for beginners who know nothing about book marketing. And even for that, so much info was outdated that it wouldn't be really helpful. A book like this really needs updating at least every few years.
This book has practical, actionable information for the budding author to market their book on Amazon and elsewhere. A very useful book with great block and tackle steps to take to drive your sales. A great resource.
Good tips on book marketing. I like the 90 Day plan with specific activities for each day. A good overview which seems to be geared primarily toward Kindle ebooks.
More of a checklist than a book but as it was a freebie, that’s fair enough. It’s useful seeing all the five-minute suggestions come together in a 90-day plan. Worth a read.
Delivers exactly what it promises. While Barb Asselin and I both would suggest more than 5 minutes a day to promote something you believe in if you want it to succeed, she shares many things that won't take much more than 5 minutes and can have big impact. There is so much information here that is invaluable to both authors and readers, plus anyone in a marketing profession. She makes you feel as if you are getting advice from a friend. She comes across as someone I trust.
I am excited after reading this book and can't wait to put the ideas into practice.
The book is a little light on in depth details but does provide enough to get you started. It is comprehensive enough that will a little bit of tweaks will work well for just about anyone. The information contained is an excellent starting point for your book marketing in general.
This is a simple, straightforward guide to marketing your books. If you're on a budget, buy the e-book and highlight the sections you'd like to go back to. Once I publish my first book, I will definitely go back to this book and try to spend a few minutes a day on marketing. Even with a full time job, anyone has that much time to spare.
I hate to hand out two stars. I'm usually pretty generous, but this was a joke. Even if I didn't collect marketing books like mad, a newbie wouldn't gain much from this . . . if anything. In a nutshell, it tells you to sign up for accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, etc, then gives you a schedule for a few weeks and tells you to post something on each one. . . . . And that's about it. :(
This book gets you started in a major way. Giving you seasoned tips to help your book marketing start off on the right foot. All authors should read this book to make sure they are not missing anything.
You can definitely spend more than five minutes (and should) on most of these ideas - as she points out early on. But this short book is a good overview of book marketing and some of the main options out there.
I found this short guide very useful. I'm trying out the 90-day, 5-minute plan on my book, Not the Mother I Remember. So far, I've seen increased engagement on my FB page, so that's nice. I have yet to see if the marketing technique works.
This book is fantastic and just what I needed. I have been looking for ideas on how to promote my own book and this book has everything you need to know, it's highly informative and well writing big congratulations to the author
I wouldn't go so far as to call this a book but it is an excellent article on promoting. Most of the time these "books" are nothing more than ways to promote books for sales. This one does that also, but actually has some good info. Well worth reading.
This book is really great for beginners who are new to marketing their books. I already do these things so I was expecting a little more. I did learn a few things which is always good.
