Supported by state-of-the-art motion analysis research, "short game guru to the pros" James Sieckmann unveils his "finesse wedge" swing -- a proven and pragmatic way to learn, practice, and perform with each wedge in the bag in every situation -- and shows players that upgrading their short game is possible. Since James Sieckmann first revealed his short-game methods two decades ago, he has amassed a cultlike following of more than seventy PGA and LPGA Tour disciples and has been dubbed the “short-game guru to the pros” (GOLF Magazine). Using his system, several of Sieckmann’s students have become some of the best short-game players of the modern era. A two-time winner on the PGA Tour jumped 117 spots in the Sand Save rankings in one season; another client quickly jumped 81 spots in Scrambling percentage. The benefits of a good short game are undisputed. Unfortunately, players at all levels fail to develop effective short-game skills because instructors teach the exact opposite of the correct technique. Sieckmann studied the greatest short-game players in recent memory—including Seve Ballesteros, Corey Pavin, and Raymond Floyd—to develop a proven and pragmatic way to learn, practice, and perform with each wedge in every situation. His unique observations, which were later verified by motion capture technology, work equally well for amateurs and pros.In his long-awaited first book, Sieckmann opens up his vault of secrets for all golfers. After breaking down the basics, he presents a session-by-session training and practice guide—the same one he creates for his tour clients—to help the reader develop and sustain correct habits, avoid common flaws, and master essential skills. Next, Sieckmann explains how to optimize a player’s wedge swing for every scenario. An easy-to-learn and easy-to-use system, Your Short Game Solution will be the go-to guide anywhere golf is played.
This book changed my life! Within minutes my short game was fixed. I was able to put 7 out of 10 within 5 feet of my target vs my old style which occasionally gave me 1 out of 10 if I was lucky.
Now, I got excited and ran out and did it and it all fell apart because I forgot a few points. I went back, did what he said and made a journal to help me remember. And now I am back in business. What an amazing resource! I am handing it out to all of my friends now!
I read this book once all the way through, picking the "low hanging fruit" that was obvious flaws to my wedge game. I saw dramatic results right away. My confidence also went up. I was always intimidated by shots around the greens, from 10 yards and in. Not any more. These shots are now fun because Im getting closer to the pin than ever before, and I enjoy the challenge. Now I am reading the book for a second time, and diligently doing my journal work. James is a great teacher, and has the gift of experience that allows him to explain in ways that are easy to picture and to understand. Thanks for you time and effort, James. The book is a real gift.
This book was recommended to me by someone in my golfing group, and man did he ever do me a huge favour. My wedge game has always been my weakness, and I was determined this off-season to find a way to make it a strength. And this book is the cheat code that will shave a ton of strokes from my scores and is already giving me so much more confidence with a wedge in my hand.
Sieckmann explains probably the most complex part of the game of golf in a way that is straight forward, clear, and gives you all the tools to practice correct techniques and get your wedge game to a high level! Thanks to the guy who recommended it me, and thanks to James Sieckmann...incredible resource!
I loved this book for 2 simple reasons.... 1. There is a clear and well described method from somebody who has clearly studied the game and the best people. 2. This is then translated to help golfers off all abilities and, not only is the technique well described, but there are great drills, training games and measurable goals to help you get there.
I’m committed to the technique and working hard to get to where I want to be. I’m actually excited when I head out to practice.
Devoured this book in about 14 hrs. It’s arguably the best short game book I’ve read. Thanks for Rohan Ramnath for the recommendation. After working hard on my full swing, particularly the driver, over the last 9ish months, I knew the short game was in need of some attention.
This book was the perfect prescription, a theory of short game that resonates alongside accurate diagnosis of where things are off. Two days later, my short game is already improving. Perhaps my favorite part of the book discusses structured practice plans, a needed element for me in this season of life.
Reading through the short game solution gave me the language and thought process to self-evaluate and make some corrections to my finesse and distant wedge play.
I picked the book up because I was struggling, and James’ descriptions and prescriptions helped me greatly. I’ve got a long way to go and James has helped me find the correct path, given me helpful practice structures, and defined a solution to embrace and work on that will ultimately lower my scores.
I highly recommend this book and solution. It’s working! Thank you!
Simply superb. I'm a very high-level tournament golfer, so I've had plenty of time with my wedges over the past 15 years; yet I still managed to find some incredibly important tidbits in James's work, including a MUCH more consistent method for hitting ultra-high shots when needed, and an entirely new shot for my repertoire around the greens (his "Cock-and-Pop" for short-sided shots). The way he breaks down both technique and practice methodologies in this book is the best I've seen anywhere.
James is concise and thorough. As a golfer, you know when something works. This is it! The methods described would be challenging for a novice. But even a novice can appreciate that there is a correct approach.
Muy claro para, mejorar tu técnica de swing de golf en el juego corto. Muchos ejercicios para mejorar también. Juego corto como y largo y mejoría para bunkwrs
This is one of very few golf instruction books that actually produce results. James does a great job of describing the right way to do a variety of different short game shorts. There are good drills, practice ideas, and mental tips as well. It may be a short book, but it gives you all you need without too much fluff. What I've incorporated into my game so far as worked really well. In time, I'm hoping to get the whole system indoctrinated. Highly recommended.
Very helpful. I incorporated the techniques in the book into my own short game and gained an accuracy and consistency that I have not enjoyed for a few years for shots of 120yds and less. You need to practise what is preached, but I found it very helpful. The techniques taught are straight forward and only take up a fraction of the book. Most of the rest of the text is biographical, anecdotal and such, but entertaining, non the less.
A really good book on the short game. Mr Sieckmann keeps things simple and to the point which why I found this book very valuable. I am one of those golfers who loves the game but there is nothing I love more in golf than using a wedge and a putter. Now after reading this book and some time practising - more than ever.
In very simple, clear fashion, James Sieckmann details a series of strategic actions anyone can take to become a more confident, competent player around the greens. This is both and easy and important read. Highly recommended ... unless you're a player who likes to hide behind excuses!
