Some love stories burn bright, theirs kept a steady signal across the dark.
Solace and Ransom have been missing each other their whole lives. From childhood “almosts” to adult what-ifs, their love story was built on timing that never quite worked out. That is, until the day the world ends.
Solace has survived in an underground bunker on a ruined Earth, while Captain Jude Ransom rose through the ranks of humanity’s new spacefaring order. Separated by planets, their matter finds its way back to one another in their dreams.
When a signal suggests a bunker door has opened on toxic ground, he risks everything to go back for her. But love, like physics, has laws of its own and some connections can’t be broken. Even by the end of the world.
Rhea Rainwater was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. When she's not in a fantastical writing trance, she's finding treasure on the gray beaches with her husband, children, and their German Shorthaired Pointer, Willa.
This was so sweet and refreshing. Evenly paced, multi timeline, a warm hug..this novella was so cute. A smidge unrealistic as far as the science goes, but honestly who cares. The characters drive this story. If you enjoy The Martian or Project Hail Mary but want a sweet romance (low spice) between childhood friends with not so much heavy science, pick this up!
⌗ After the world ends and earth becomes uninhabitable due to radioactivity, the childhood best friends Jude and Solace believe each other dead. Solace begins to feel the effects of containment and loneliness in a bunker on earth, while Jude is safe in space, always yearning for her. After years of yearning and longing, Jude suddenly learns of Solace’s survival.
❀ ⌗ what did I love? 𓂃˖ ࣪⊹
⌗ Where do I even start? Rhea’s writing is so beautiful. Honestly, she managed to make sciency space talk sound like poetry, and that’s a skill to have. Rhea also manages to create characters that go deeper than just being words on paper (or in my case on screen lmao). Especially Jude, in my opinion, felt so distinctly raw and human. He was the biggest yearner I’ve read in a loooong time. What I liked about Rhea’s characters, is that there’s no black and white. No one is inherently good or bad. We saw that in Adam, Jude’s father, who’s been an absolute jerk and horrible man in the beginning, but made me feel for him in the end. As I said, it feels so human. I’m not the biggest science girly and honestly quit my physics course as soon as I was able to, but the beautiful writing and plot made me literally gnaw at the bars of my enclosure. In under 200 pages, Rhea managed to put in a well thought out plot AND fleshed out main characters AND great side characters with actual personality, which is honestly just admirable. Oh and SOL also kind of got a character, which I loved.
❀ ⌗ what did I dislike? 𓂃˖ ࣪⊹
⌗ Dislike is honestly not the right word, since I honestly adored this book. I loved it so dearly that my only problem is how short it was and that I wanted more😭 This book could’ve easily been 100 pages longer and be even better. I really wanted to spend more time with them actually being together and being with their friends, or make out the logistics on Solace’s bunker situation a little more. Long story short, I found the ending to be the tiniest bit rushed, though I understand one can only do so many things in a novella. I truly don’t wanna be a negative nancy, because again, I adored this book.
❀ ⌗ i’d recommend this to people who… 𓂃˖ ࣪⊹
⌗ need a palette cleanser with substance ⌗ say ‘nobody ever yearns anymore’ ⌗ like an apocalyptic vibe ⌗ love childhood best friends and friends to lovers
A BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN NOVELLA! It was too short-lived; I was sad to close the final chapter. Highly recommended.
SATELLITES deserved a novel status. The emotions were overwhelmingly good, and it takes talent to be able to create a powerful connection between characters, especially when its being compacted into a novella.
Usually I dislike novellas because the short chapters don't build enough or bring out the best of the emotional development in a love story. Surprisingly, the author proved me wrong.
SATELLITES reminded me of Love, Rosie vibes by Cecelia Ahern - the missed opportunities and chances for a girl and boy who grew up together but never got to become a couple. Thankfully, it wasn't too late for Jude and SOLACE. I cried too much over Rosie's relationship - the angst was to-die-for-good. Sadly, angst wasn't explored here.
JUDE AND SOLACE were great in a shallow sense (because it's a novella), but they held admirable qualities and most importantly, their LOVE WAS SO PRECIOUS. What made me tear up was the constant pining between the two before they finally became lovers. I couldn't quite tell WHY THEY NEVER DID CROSS THE LINE until later, when Jude had an epiphany, but I could tell that JUDE really loves Solace based on his internal monologues and POV.
SOLACE preferred keeping to herself, even though she was a supportive friend. She didn't like to trouble people, and this often makes her put others before herself, resulting in some of their missed opportunities to become a couple.
I liked that JUDE could read her like a book. HE PAID ATTENTION. That's how you know the man truly is in love. When the world ended and he thought she was dead, it was the 100% confirmation you knew that she would always be the love of his life.
OVERALL the PINING and EMOTIONAL WEALTH of this story held my attention. It wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed it immensely. There was so much to explore - possibility of angst as they had dated other people despite having feelings deep down, the post 7-years encounter when they both thought the other was dead. NGL, I felt a little cheated when the author cut straight into the EPILOGUE after Jude rescued Solace.
While I'm glad they finally got their HEA, it would have been nice to see them start a family.
Rhea Rainwater will be a new author for me to look out for.
Satellites absolutely wrecked me in under 250 pages and honestly that should be studied. TWO separate times this woman had me crying and if an author can make me cry in a novella?? Yeah that’s talent.
Rhea Rainwater has been an auto-buy author for me because her writing is just… otherworldly. Every single sentence feels lyrical and intentional and aching in the best way. Her prose has this haunting softness to it that makes you feel like you’re floating through the story right alongside the characters.
And Jude and Solace??? I think about them constantly.
This story somehow manages to feel both intimate and massive at the same time. It’s yearning and devotion and fate and grief and hope all wrapped together in this beautifully tragic sci-fi romance that completely consumed me. The “right person, wrong time” aspect absolutely destroyed me emotionally and then somehow Rhea kept twisting the knife deeper every chapter.
The yearning in this book??? EXQUISITE. The love??? ACHING. The spice??? 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Like genuinely the balance in this novella was perfect. The emotional depth never got overshadowed by the romance or spice. It all worked together so seamlessly. And somehow with such a short page count, I still felt more connected to Jude and Solace than characters I’ve spent 600+ pages with.
I literally texted Rhea while reading because I was LOSING MY MIND. One chapter had me tearing up and the next had me kicking my feet and screaming into the void. The emotional whiplash was unreal.
And honestly? I could have read an entire 600-page series about these two. I was not ready to leave them behind when this ended.
This novella is proof that a love story doesn’t have to be long to leave a permanent mark on you. Still haven’t recovered. Probably never will.
5/5 stars hands down. Satellites is one of the best novellas I have read in a long time. I loved that it was split into four different parts and showed us the near misses of Jude and Solace’s relationship from childhood to adulthood. There were times where I wanted to tear up because the prose was just so good. For a post apocalyptic survival romance that took place on earth and space, it hit all the right marks with the barely there touches, stolen glances, and vivid imagination of what could be. I felt that for what Jude had gone through all those years to get Solace to notice him, the ending was 100% deserved.
Satellites is truly one of those books where if he wanted to, he would. Jude knew he loved this woman from the day they met in third grade and I don’t say that lightly. He knew what he wanted and kept her in his orbit, even when life pulled them in different directions.
Favorite quotes:
“Sharing the sky with you is worth more than a single, blazing second.”
“When you live through the apocalypse you come to realize a few things quickly. Number one: death is inevitable. We all die, some of us faster than others. Each day was a miracle. Number two: it was the small things. Things like this hug. Like these dreams that seemed to connect us in ways we’d never fully understand. Number three: enjoy every second. Because who knows when it will be your last.”
Highly recommend to readers who love dystopian and post-apocalyptic romance. I also recommend this novella to readers who are into the STEM fields especially when it comes to jobs with NASA, space exploration, and satellites. I also recommend this book to readers who are looking for nods to the Air Force Academy and Space Force. Even though these real organizations are mentioned, it is in a fictional manner.
Thank you Rhea for the review copy. All opinions are my own.
First, I want to extend a huge thank you to Rhea Rainwater for gifted me an eARC copy of Satellites to read and provide my honest, spoiler free review.
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Thoughts: My first introduction to Rhea was The Magnificence Of Death and I immediately fell in love with this authors writing style and story telling. So when news of a sci-fi novella was in the works, I immediately had to sign up for it.
What I love the most about this author is her way to create some of the most purest love stories of all time. Ones that make you feel things, emotions that I don’t normally feel with other books. This time, my heart was completely in the hands of Rhea and our two main characters, Jude and Solace.
This type of love is one of the most relatable I’ve ever read. The idea of having two people since childhood “missing” each other their entire lives. As humans, I know we all suffer from the thoughts of what-ifs as well as if the timing is right for certain things. That feeling is literally what you get with Solace and Jude. Two people in the world that constantly orbit one another without fully coming together. This author also ties in the red string theory which is one that I absolutely adore and believe in and watching these two find their way to each other even after all the bumps in the road just proved they were meant for each other.
This book also talks about everything satellite related. Orbits, satelittes, NASA…all of it. When tragedy hits Earth, that’s when you find yourself in the middle of Jude and Solace’s most desperate moments. Knowing that no matter how much time has passed, they were it for one another. This novella is even more compelling of the idea of love being stronger than anything..stronger than any law of physics imaginable. Overall, this story stole my heart and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
This had got to be one of my favorite books I’ve experienced in a long time. The only reason I didn’t finish this book any faster was purely due to children and responsibilities lovingly demanding my attention. But let me tell you, I was thinking of this book long after each time I was forced to set it down. To me that speaks volumes. At the end of the night I was unwillingly exhausted drifting to sleep thinking about them.
The characters felt like my friends. Watching their lives unfold; like lending an ear to a close friend as they navigate life and love. There were moments that reflected such innately human emotion and quirks which felt so refreshing.
“Incredible, you’re incredible, it’s incredible—how many damn times could I say the word incredible? I wanted to scrub my brain clean.”
Girl. I’ve been there. I’m there way more than I care to admit.
The characters reflect such a strong sense of self I refuse to believe they are only characters and not complete and physical humans.
And Judeeeeeeee. 😩 Strong, without being cold. Brilliant without being cocky. Playful. Sweet. Tender. Attentive. I admire him. I adore him. What a man. I loveee. Top tier book boyfriend material.
Considering, to my dismay, I cannot will myself into a book, I know they have etched a little piece of their story into my brain, rent free, forever. I could have happily devoured hours more of the story; their story. But I digress.
Completely and utterly digestible in the best way- without sacrificing poetic content, plot or characterization.
To the author, thank you for following your dreams (quite literally) so the rest of us could experience them too. A gift.
4.5✨ I’ve come to learn that when you pick up a Rhea Rainwater book you can expect a beautiful exploration of the human experience - all its messiness, complexity, and darkness but with a tiny tendril of hope always at the core of it that is the driving force. Satellites definitely lived up to that expectation. I was absolutely blown away by how much she was able to pack into such a short novella- not just in heart and emotion but in scope as well, spanning years and the end of the world. The sci-fi and post apocalyptic elements were executed well and everything felt like just the right amount. I was not expecting to start out with Jude and Solace when they were younger since I knew it was a short book but I’m so happy we did because it was necessary to build up the investment in them as individual characters and their relationship. It was the perfect balance between the before with the set up that built up the believability and the after with the fall out that keeps you rooting for them.
The concept and theme of the near-misses and satellites was just absolutely GENIUS, I can’t get over it. It was giving me chills and goosebumps the whole way through every time it was tied in.
If you want a book to tug on your heartstrings and make you feel so many feelings, this is it. It gave me that nostalgic John Green angst that I have been missing. It’s the perfect size for a palate cleanser and a quick, satisfying, beautiful story.
Thank you so much to Rhea for the opportunity to read and review this ARC ✨
“I didn’t know if Solace and I shared matter, or particles or whatever. All I knew is that we were so tightly wound around one another, I sometimes didn’t know where she began, and I ended.”
One of the best heart wrenching and anxiety inducing sci fi romance novella’s i’ve ever read (in the most loving way possible)! I’m not usually a big sci-fi girlie but if anyone could convince me to indulge, it’s Rhea and her out of this world writing. This is going up as one of my top reads & most devastatingly beautiful books i’ve read this year — and maybe forever.
Being my second book to read by Rhea Rainwater, I knew Satellites was going to be the most amazing read, no matter what was to come. This book wrecked me and put me back together in only a span of a few hours. Miss Rhea has the most amazing writing skills, and I was fully immersed with these characters and their story.
I only just finished the book and i just know i’m not going to be able to stop thinking about these characters, with the time i got to enjoy them with this novella. <3
what to expect in satellites: 🪐 post apocalyptic vibes 🪐 second chance - esq 🪐 friends to lovers 🪐 dual timeline 🪐 star-crossed lovers 🪐 space + fallout bunker setting 🪐 will emotionally devastate you in the best way 🪐 composer fmc x space engineer mmc 🪐 he can’t live without her
Thank you Rhea for letting me arc read this amazing book of yours! I can’t wait for the rest of the world to yearn for jude and solace as much as I have!
First, I want to say thank you to the author for an ARC of this novella. Second, I want to say when I want romance, THIS is what I mean.
Let me preface this by saying: I’m not typically a romance reader and I’m usually very picky in that genre. I tend to pick-up fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian novels, which is why the space and “end of the world” elements of Satellites intrigued me.
BUT with that said, I would encourage anyone who is usually a romance critic to pick up a Rhea Rainwater book and give it a try.
I just foam at the mouth for Rhea’s style of writing. Her prose is so satisfying and poetic to read. And oh my yearning Jude 🖤 I want romances to feel real, and Satellites is certainly not an “insta-love” story. As the reader, you get to watch Jude & Solace’s love grow from childhood to adulthood.
I loved the dialogue between Solace and Jude, and appreciated the Dual POV so I could process each character’s “near misses” alongside them.
The spicy scenes did not feel forced (with zero cringe factor) and flowed well with Jude & Solace’s story.
I am the type of reader that can appreciate a tragedy, but I found myself rooting for these characters the entire time *desperately* wanting them to have the HEA they both fought space and time (literally) for.
Rhea gripped me from the beginning and continued her chokehold until the very end. Be ready for a beautiful weaving of lyrical prose that Rhea somehow impressively packs into a short novella.

Review: Rhea Rainwater what a great storyteller you are! I’m obsessed with your writing! It was so poetic and I needed more! If I’m being truthful I would have not been upset if this book would have been two hundred pages longer! I loved seeing the love story form! Another interesting aspect is Jude’s relationship with his father! All of the characters were so real but definitely not perfect as people and I thought it was so refreshing! I’m sad the story is over and I will definitely be picking up all of Rhea Rainwater’s books from this point onward!
Thank you so much Rhea Rainwater for giving me the opportunity to read this novella in advance!
This is going down as one of my top reads of the year.
I don’t know how the author managed to pack such a punch in a novella. I felt like my heart was clenching the entirety of the read, and I cried three times- one set of tears being happy.
This story follows our FMC Solace, a musician, and our MMC Jude Ransom, an astronaut. They’ve grown up together as best friends when they were little, but they each realized it was more than that. They try colliding so many times but either they or life circumstances get in the way, causing so many misses and emotions. And then the world ends, but not all hope is lost.
This book also beautifully brushes over trauma and grief.
An absolutely breathtaking masterpiece. My new go to comfort read! Let me leave you with a couple spoiler free quotes:
“That’s the thing about near misses - they live in that sliver of space where collision introduces itself, only to diverge at the last second and find a different path. Leaving nothing but a small what if.”
“If I could lasso the sun and the moon and every last star I would pull them down, gather them into my arms and hand them to her.”
“Heart. Soul. Blood. Bone. That’s what Solace was. Mine.”
Literally so many more. Thank you so much for this arc!! Cherishing this book for the rest of my life 🚀💫🪐🖤
I was so captivated by this story that I read it in one sitting. I am mind blown at how beautifully Rhea writes. When I say I want romance, this is what I am looking for!! I would read a six book 600 pages series about Jude and Solace. Jude takes first place for “if he wanted to he would”. The way it’s broken into three parts was perfect. (Especially for being such a short story). The theme of satellites and space is so poetically interwoven into the story. I really enjoyed that this story takes us on their journey before the nuclear fall out and after but only gives us enough details so that it doesn’t take away from the romance and yearning. There’s time gaps in the story but once again enough details are given to where the story continues to flow.
Over all, this is a 6⭐️ read for me!! I really enjoyed this read!
“It’s not enough to only share the sky. I don’t want to keep turning the same or it and miss you every fucking time”
A huge thank you to Rhea and her team for this ARC. 💖
“It is a persistence that does not weaken with distance—so maybe love isn’t finding someone who shares your orbit. Maybe it’s finding the courage to leave it.”
I read this entire book in one Sunday. The range of emotions covered in these pages is staggering. I laughed, I cried, I loved it.
I went into this sci-fi romance expecting a quick read and somehow walked away feeling like I had lived through an entire trilogy in under 200 pages. The depth packed into such a short space genuinely stunned me. Every conversation, every moment, every tiny reveal carried weight without feeling rushed. The romance, the character arcs, the ache of it all, somehow delivered the emotional payoff of a much larger series while staying incredibly focused and intimate.
This was one of those rare books that reminded me sci-fi romance can be both imaginative and deeply human at the same time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was thrilled to be able to read an ARC of this spectacular sci-fi romance! Definitely a 5 star read for me and is set to be one of my top reads of the year for sure. The plot and characters felt so relatable, and it sucked me right into their world. I always appreciate books that touch on relevant topics, and I think this topic is more than prevalent to our day and age.
This was a fast paced, quick and easy read that leaves you wanting more of Jude and Solace’s story! The friends-to-lovers motif was executed perfectly! We love when a trope is believable… 🙌
There are a couple brief open door scenes but I would say low spice level. The sci-fi element was subtle and easy to digest (not too technical). It reads like a contemporary romance! No one does a good genre bending book quite like Rhea…
Perfect for someone looking for a quick read, lovers of a good space drama, or honestly anyone who loves a good romance.
Rhea Rainwater has officially become an auto buy author for me. Her writing is beautiful, poetic, and emotional in a way that lingers long after you’ve finished the last page. Every sentence feels intentional, and there were moments where I genuinely had to stop and sit with what I was feeling.
What I loved most about Satellites was Jude and Solace. They are both flawed, complicated, and wonderfully human, yet somehow perfectly suited for one another. Watching their story unfold through different stages of their lives was heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. The near misses, the stolen moments, the years spent orbiting around each other without quite connecting made every moment between them feel achingly meaningful
Jude absolutely stole my heart. The way he loved Solace was unwavering. Even when life kept pulling them in different directions, she remained at the center of his universe.
I am not usually a huge sci fi reader, but this story 🫴🏻👏🏻 The post apocalyptic setting, the space elements, and the bunker atmosphere created such a vivid backdrop without ever overshadowing the romance.
This novella somehow managed to devastate me and put me back together again in a matter of hours. Satellites is one of the most beautiful and unforgettable stories I’ve read this year, and I know Jude and Solace will be living in my head for a very long time. Thank you so much for the ARC, Rhea. Cant wait for the rest of the readers to meet Jude and Solace.

This story was something else entirely. Somehow I felt like I was reading about everyday life on Earth, yet the most simple moments were incredibly romanticised and I loved it.
Rhea Rainwater is an author to watch. Her writing is so incredibly digestable and yet allows the reader to move into deep emotional territory with her poetic and romantic reflection.
For a smaller book, I managed to cry several times throughout this book as both Jude and Solace have to navigate heartache, heartbreak, loneliness and doubt.
I will absolutely read anything Rhea writes, purely for her ability to make me feel so deeply.

"If I could lasso the sun and the moon and every last star I would pull them down, gather them into my arms and hand them to her."
The way I had to put this book down several times and stare into an imaginary camera like I was a character in The Office... My heart simply could not take it. It has gorgeous writing, yearning, heartache, pure love.
Something that I have been missing in romances lately is that I have failed to fall in love with the characters alongside them. This was absolutely not the case here. I fell in love with both Solace and Jude so effortlessly. I could see and feel why they loved each other so deeply, why that love stretched across the stars and pulled them together again. And in the end I was just as scared as they were that they were not going to get their happy ending.
Satellites is everything a novella should be: intimate, aching, beautifully paced, and emotionally devastating in the most powerful way. Jude and Solace’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful, the kind of love story that feels both cosmic and deeply human. Their connection stretches across time, distance, dreams, and the end of the world itself, and somehow every page still feels tender and personal.
No one writes yearning quite like Rhea does. Every almost, every missed chance, every thread of hope between Jude and Solace felt like a steady signal in the dark. This novella is romantic, haunting, and gorgeously written, with the kind of emotional pull that lingers long after the final page.
I loved this book with my whole heart. It was perfect in every sense of the word, and I cannot wait to read whatever Rhea writes next.
This review might be a little chaotic and probably even non sensical. I fear Rhea has left me completely dumbfounded with her ability to write such a strong, impactful, poignant story in less than 200 pages. And in true Rhea fashion, it’s a story that will stick with you long after the book is over. . . . Jude and Solace are the most endearing characters and THE NEAR MISSES. Oh my gosh the near misses are what made their story so perfect. The pacing and development of their relationship was some of the best I’ve ever read and honestly absolutely genius on Rhea’s part. I have no idea how she packed so much emotion into so few pages but it’s worth every tear in the end.
The love - the IM LITERALLY GOING TO LEAVE SPACE AND RETURN TO AN UNINHABITABLE EARTH TO RESCUE YOU AND RISK MY LIFE IN THE PROCESS kind of love, was everything. And I love that we had to suffer right alongside Jude and Solace. Thanks to Rhea’s unique way of mixing beauty and sorrow, we really had to work for their perfect ending. Not only that, but the high stakes kept me on the edge of my seat too. I’m pretty sure I was shaking from the moment I read “I know that song” to the very end of the book.
As cheesy as this sounds, I truly have no notes, and I definitely recommend ✨even if you’re not into sci-fi romance✨ . . . Rhea, I’m so proud of you!! This was truly amazing and I can’t thank you enough for giving me the absolute pleasure of arc reading. This was so much more than a novella and I hope you see the impact it’s left on your readers 🖤
I will be daydreaming of Jude and Solace for the end of time, literally. This was a beautifully written love story that had me in all my feels.
The main characters having “near misses” and how right person, wrong time can be tangled with love and grief… Was. So. Beautifully. Written. I won’t ever get over it.
ALSO fact that this 250 PAGE NOVELLA was broken up with a clear past timeline and then the whole second half of the book was post-apocalyptic without anything feeling rushed was chefs kiss. Im ABSOUTELY shocked because I could read and want more! I loved it! This is definitely a story you’ll forever remember. It’s unique and heart wrenching
I was so wrapped up in this book that I ended up reading it in one sitting!!
I loved Jude & Solace’s story! ♥️🛰️
Rhea’s writing effortlessly took us along through their childhood friendship up to their lives as adults. And we get to see how their story unfolds (with a HEA). We get to be little Patricia(s)🦎 along for the ride, you’ll get it 😏😉.
This small town, best friends, sci-fi, post apocalyptic romance novella is a collision of yearning & heartache that just works!! Most definitely NOT a near miss for me!
Highly recommend and can easily be a great in between read.
***A special thank you to the author, Rhea Rainwater, for the opportunity to read & review this ARC! I am voluntarily leaving this honest review. ***
"Sharing the sky with you is worth more than one blazing second."
Rhea has done it again! I absolutely and adore her writing and Satellites is no exception. How any author can pack in a full story in such a short amount of pages will always impress me.
Satellites is literally a love story set between space and time. The first half is "before" and the second half is "after". Before and after the end of the world as we know it.
Solace and Jude has something that is written in the books....it is timeless and I loved every single second of it. So much so that I could not put it down. Started in the morning and finished early afternoon.
Rhea is an auto buy author for me. How she manages to write such perfect prose amazes me! The yearning in the book is next level. It’s beautifully tragic with a HEA. From the second I started the book to the very end the book held my attention. It was one of those books that makes you forget you are reading. I love Jude and solace’s relationship/ near misses. I feel like this book really makes you look at your own life and appreciate things in front of you because life is to short and could be over before you know it so take the risks. I truly loved this book. Thank you Rhea for the arc ❤️🛸🛰️🪐☄️🧑🚀⚠️
What a beautiful novella about love at the end of the world. Though short, Solace and Jude’s love story is illustrated beautifully, from children in the same class to survivors after the end of the world. Even though I’m not entirely sure how the dreams worked (sci-fi magic, I suppose), their connection sizzled right off the page with every shared moment. Rainwater does an excellent job with her prose; the nuclear winter of Solace’s Earth pops with chilling detail, while the loneliness in Jude’s space station permeated every page. I’ll definitely be bumping Rainwater’s first book higher up my TBR after this.
First, thank you so much for the opportunity to read this early. I absolutely loved this story and the magical connection between the characters. I didn’t want to put it down and was reading every possible second I had, minutes before my class at OrangeTheory, every break at work, at night until I was falling asleep.
This book was so beautiful. Truly. I laughed, I cried, I yelled at Jude and I absolutely LOVED Patricia. This book is about love, all kinds of love. It’s complicated, special, confusing and spans time and distance. Will definitely be adding this book to my shelves. ✨
Once again, I’m blown away by Rhea’s GORGEOUS prose and story-telling. From page one, I couldn’t get enough of Jude and Solace’s dynamic. It’s beautifully tragic, yet brimming with the hope that love is the one thing strong enough to conquer all. I only wish I could erase it from my memory to read it again for the first time, because I adored it that much. Rhea’s writing kept me so invested, and I felt every emotion until the very last page. I’m not sure I’ve ever rooted for two characters more than these two. Just a masterpiece (in my opinion.)
"Sharing the sky with you is worth more than a single, blazing second."
Rhea really knows how to pack a punch in such few pages. Such a beautiful love story of 'right person, wrong time' I definitely teared up a couple times. The yearning, perfect. Spice, just the right amount.
