"Stories and inspiring visuals for girls with old souls." --Entertainment Weekly Rookiemag.com is a website created by and for young women to make the best of the beauty, pain and awkwardness of being a teenager. When it becomes tough to appreciate such things, we have good plain fun and visual pleasure. When you’re sick of having to be happy all the time, we have lots of rants, too. Every school year, we compile the best from the site into a print yearbook. Behold: our Senior year!
In Rookie Yearbook Four, we take a good, long look at stuff like friendship, crushes, speaking out, taking action, and learning about yourself. Our Senior year is full of beautiful art and photographs, playlists, DIY tutorials, advice ranging from how to get over trauma to how to write a college admissions essay, interviews with Rookie role models like Marina and the Diamonds, TLC, Laverne Cox, and FKA twigs, and exclusive content from Willow Smith, Ariana Grande, Solange, Charli XCX, Lorde, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and Donna Tartt, PLUS a sticker sheet, posters, pizza banner, teen bedroom diorama, and collage kit. School’s out, but Rookie is immortalized right here, in print, forever.

one of the most beautiful things I own. every word, every image is perfect. rookie encourages and beautifies flaws, provides a deep, loving support for anyone coming of age, and makes one yearn for a life as wild, gorgeous and free as the humans it features, then reminds you that you're already living that life.
The final edition of this made me more emotional than receiving my yearbook from my final year of high school. Keeping all four editions of these yearbooks is a great resource of interviews, essays, and various arts & crafts guides. I will cherish each of them forever.
Not being a teenage girl, I can only rate this as a 3 star, but I can see how young adults may rate it as a 5! Rookiemag.com is a website created by and for young women. With thought provoking art and photographs, playlists, DIY tutorials, and advice on everything from relationships to writing exams, this 321-page almanac has everything to interest a teen girl, including a collage kit, stickers and a diorama. Aimed at ages 12 and up (but I would rate it higher being a mom) this collection is definitely for mature readers as it contains profanity and sexuality. It would be a great resource to share as mother and daughter, on topics that are hard to talk about.
Incredible book! I look forward to the rookie books every year, they are creative unique and they touch on some things and topics that most teens don't usually hear in their day to day lives. It is a beautiful book filled with an abundance of colourful illustrations. This book is great for those who love photography, music, art, interviews, and just fun stuff! I would 100% recommend this and all the other books to teens and avid art lovers.
I would have loved this girls' guide as a teen! This blog-turned-book series has everything from sex, femimism, and being a badass girl to playlists, poetry, and art. I love the art on every page, how diverse the photos and writers are, and the depth of some of the content. I didn't read the whole book, but simply scanned for evaluation for adding into my library, but part of me still takes some issue with books from blogs, and I'm not sure why.
My daughter loves this book! The variety of helpful things talked about in this book made her feel connected and understood. It's a fun and informative read for teenagers. I won this book on a goodreads giveaway. Thank you!
