28319: not something you read at one sitting. useful for me, not francophone, not studying, but reading much french, practicing with french woman. she says i have better than 12yr old’s vocabulary, sure, but this visual text reminds me how much of our ‘world’ of immediate perception is unconsciously named in whatever language. and then beyond this i want to know more technical/precise words...
This bilingual dictionary is incredible! Visual learning is one of the best ways to efficiently learn a new thing - especially a language. I loved reading this book on a plane to France a few years ago! The pictures are clear, fun and very easy to see and understand - and I love how a lot of these books include a pronunciation in parenthesis. It's so easy to remember and the format of the pages are visually pleasing and organized by topics in each chapter.
I would recommend this to children, students, adults and anyone for that matter because of how simple yet informational these dictionaries are. I'm glad I not only have this in French but Italian, Russian and Arabic as well.
I think I've finally used this book enough to consider it read. The book is organized by subject matter, so it's handy to have around if you find yourself talking about an unfamiliar subject with a few well-known terms of art.
