I really enjoyed the premise in this one and the execution but felt it ended too abruptly. It was sorely in need of an epilogue but still made for an enjoyable read.

Here's your plot:

Sloane Redding is the shy one, the timid one. The morning of her wedding, she's dumped by the man she'd thought she'd spend the rest of her life with. Humiliated, she turns tail and runs, leaving Nowhere, Alabama for a job in the city. Sloane sets out to remake herself. She succeeds...on the outside. On the inside? Different story. She still the shy Redding. Still quiet, still more interested in standing on the standlines. But all of that is about to change.

So yes, big surprise that Sloane and Boone (hated that name) have a little one night stand and don't exchange names. But if they had, their sexy night probably wouldn't have happened. And let me say, it was kind of smokin' hot. As you can guess from the title, Sloane is a virgin, and their first time together was hawt. And ooh, the next day at the wedding, when they see each other...whew.

But the story doesn't end there. Boone leaves on a mission, and comes back a different man. I don't want to say any more, except to say that he and Sloane reunite, but have a lot of obstacles in their path.

I liked both shy Sloane and rugged Boone. The author does a good job of fleshing out their characters and giving them a backstory, enough that you really care about what happens to them. Boone had some baggage that he had to work through, and of course Sloane had a little self-esteem issue after being dumped by her loser fiancé. They were both likable and hot together, and I wanted to see their relationship work. I didn't see the plot twist coming, so that was a pleasant surprise. And I believed in their romance, which made the reading go that much faster. My only complaint was the abruptness of the ending. Sure wish I could see these two again! 4 solid stars

So your ex fiancée made a fool of you and left town with the other woman only to return months later sans ow.What is a young woman to do? Why,she gets a makeover ,puts on a sexy red dress with high heels and heads to the nearest bar. When said ex makes a move and won't take a brush off, what's a girl to do...she decks him a good one. This is the intro to Sloane that Boone witnesses and he is in lust, they have an instant sexual attraction and a blazing one night stand. Not bad for a girl who just lost her virginity, but something happens...the condom broke on the second go round.Sloane informs Boone not to worry as she is on the pill. When he goes to the bathroom, she leaves without either of them knowing each others name.He looks for her,but mystery woman is nowhere to be found.Little did he know who he was going to meet up with at his best friend's wedding.
I enjoyed this story, the first part when they meet was sizzling, the second part took on darker turn. I wished this book was longer and the characters expanded.I enjoyed the secret baby trope as well as an amnesia plot. The scenes with Boone and Dani were adorable.I have been a fan of this author since her "Hunters" novels and have enjoyed her books.

Sloane hooks up with a guy the night before her brother’s wedding while she is on a mission to get back at her cheating ex. Boone is just trying to get through the night and maybe find a little fun.

Neither expected the night to turn out the way it did. A defiled virgin and send these two on a new path.

Okay, so here’s the rub. I liked Virgins Night Out until Sloane straight up lies and claims she didn’t. It was/is a shitty thing to do to anyone. Then the story became so crammed with new storylines that the romance of it all was lost. The sex is extremely hot. I completely enjoyed that bit. It was the fast paced movement and the abrupt ending that just didn’t satisfy me.

If you are reading for the sexy bits this one will be right up your alley, if you want an emotional journey, maybe not.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Sloane is going back to her hometown for her brother's wedding and like any woman who was left standing at the altar alone on her wedding day, she is going in guns blazing dressed to impress. When she walks into the small town bar, every eye snaps to the make you drool red dress (yes, from the cover!) she is wearing. One of those pair of eyes just so happens to belong to Boone, former military currently working security detail jobs, who is in town for his bestfriend's wedding. Uh oh is right but when Sloane lays out her former fiancé with a not too shabby punch, Boone is in lusty love. They spend a wild, crazy, and delightfully sexy no names night together. When identities are revealed, a consequence develops, and a job hazard changes lives, Sloane and Boone are left to decide if their one night stand should be an every night occurrence.

This story started off with a (literal!) bang with the hotness between Sloane and Boone burning up the pages. Their first encounter and one night of sex was sizzling and what you look for when reading the spicier scenes from romance books. The chemistry between the two felt real and sucked me into being invested with them. Sloane and Boone definitely work well in the bedroom (there is a little bit of "One True Vagina" from Boone), it's outside of it and when the story takes a serious 180 from the sexy beginning tone, a little past the 30% mark, that things unraveled a bit.

First off, you're going to hate Sloane. She starts off the defiant, strong, hurt, and vulnerable woman we can relate to and cheer for only to make a decision that many are going to have a real problem with. Sloane decides to keep pertinent information from Boone, even when he asks but because Sloane thinks he didn't ask in the right way, she lies to him. Now, Sloane claims she doesn't lie but I'm willing to bet a majority of readers are going to disagree with her, I know I do. The reasoning behind her lying to Boone is discussed but I still found myself having little sympathy for her. Boone was a sexy alpha specimen who didn't quite get to stretch his character's legs because of this being a shorter story. He is like so many male leads out there in the romance world but he felt more real and genuine, something I can only put down to the author's writing style. He has a little too much self-contempt and lets Sloane, in my opinion, off way too easily but I still liked the guy.

As I mentioned, after the first 30% and its lighter sexy times, the rest of the story takes a darker more serious path. Don't let this fun misleading title fool you, a huge betraying lie, survival in a Mexican prison, amnesia, and having your chickens come home to roost make up the majority of this story. The two contrasting tones didn't quite fit well together and I think why I jumped from wanting to rate the story 2 stars and up to 4 stars at different times. I like the feel of the author's writing style but this story felt very disjointed. I also never recovered from disliking Sloane for her lie and I can never fully enjoy a story where I have a loathing for one of the leads. It is a short quick story though, with a great start and when the leads are together interacting they have great lure.

ARC Review
3.5 stars

I really enjoy Shiloh Walker’s writing. I’ve been impressed by her storytelling with every book I’ve read that she’s written. (By god, she knows how to write the dark stuff. I’ll be reviewing Darker Than Desire, the latest in the Secrets & Shadows series next month.)

I picked up this book thinking it was going to be a light, steamy read. It starts that way. Sloan Redding is back in town with something to prove. Having been jilted at the altar, Sloan left for the big city. She is back for her brother’s wedding and looking for a little revenge. After putting her ex-finance down at the local bar (as in punching him in the face), Sloan finds herself the focus of a super hottie’s attention. After a blistering one night stand in which they did not exchange names, they coincidentally meet up again…at Sloan’s brother’s wedding. It turns out the Mr. Hottie is DB Cassidy (aka Boone), her brother’s best friend and a member of the wedding party. It's the very same Boone Sloan has been corresponding with for years but never met.

One misunderstanding leads to another and Sloan and Boone decide to separate. Circumstances bring them back together and they must work with and through some serious complications before getting their happily ever after.

What surprised me about this story is the change in tone after Boone leaves. Up until then it is a fairly typical, albeit well written, romance. Boone ends up in a foreign prison, tortured and with memory loss. The tone is dark and he comes back broken. It is a little darker than I would’ve expected, an added layer that makes this story unique.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Right in line with what I would expect from Shiloh Walker, this is a pleasing romantic read that deserves your attention.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The first half of this short book was 5 stars - hot and sexy with a brothers best friend storyline. I liked the romance Sloane and Boone (hate that name!) were hot together and had really great chemistry. The second half of this story went in a different direction and I wasn't expecting it. I still enjoyed the second half of the book but felt it was more 4 stars instead of 5. Plus, Sloane does something that I just can't agree with and it really changed my opinion of her. Overall, I enjoyed this quick and easy read.

The Virgin's Night Out: 4 stars (if I could rate higher, I would!)
What an incredibly sweet and sexy story this was!
I absolutely love Shiloh Walker's style of writing. Her stories are always sexy and sweet with characters you just can't help but love and root for. In this story, I myself found that I cried a lot! There is a lot of back story to both Boone and Sloan that shape who they are in the present and their decision making and that past was not revealed to us until almost the very end BUT, you still knew throughout the whole story. You knew they had baggage and issues and you could deduce the where/why/how of it all. It's things like that that separate GREAT writers from GOOD writers. I find that the more I read of Shiloh Walker's work the more she becomes one of the GREAT writers.
The story of Sloan and Boone is not an easy one, but if ever there was a story of love at first meet, this is it. Sloan has come back home for her brother's wedding. She hasn't been home in a while because the last time she was there, her fiance pretty much left her at the altar! But she was ready now. She wanted to come home. The night before the wedding, she decides it is high time she meets up with her ex and show him what he's missed out on! CUE .... chance meeting with Boone! When Sloan met Boone is was firework chemistry times a billion. And Shiloh Walker made me FEEL that chemistry. Sloan propositions Boone and the rest is as they say, history .... :) But NO, it's not that simple. I'm not going to give you the plot, but just know that destiny is a very powerful thing. These two were destined for each other. I believed it from the moment I started reading this story. But life threw them a HUGE bushel of lemons, and the lemonade they made was not exactly smooth!! ;)
***SPOILER ALERT***
SO that is why it rates 4 stars because I'm telling you, the rest of this love story hit the ball OUT OF THE PARK!

We got a BONUS story with this novel, Tempt Me. THIS story was like a 10 star for me. GAH, I cried thru an entire chapter! I loved everything about it! Roxi was the perfect character to play a heroine who falls in love at first sight. Really! And that goes to show you how good Shiloh Walker is at character development and overall structure. She didn't miss a beat with this one. It's such a short story, but it packs a punch like I haven't felt in a while. Ive never really been one to enjoy short stories because there's never enough time to either develop the story properly or bring it full circle properly or the characters are lacking. Yea , not here.
This story was about second chances, seizing the moment, growth, love, support ... it's just EVERYTHING!
I don't want to give you any details about the story itself because it IS short, and I would end up telling you everything, just know that you need a few tissues when you read this :)

3.5 stars overall

THE VIRGIN’S NIGHT OUT contains two novellas. My overall rating is listed above but I’ll break down in my review below.

THE VIRGIN’S NIGHT OUT – 4 STARS

Caught me from the beginning. Sloane Redding was shy and maybe a little mousy. She got left at the altar (or the day of her wedding) and ran away from her small town from the humiliation. Now she’s back for her brother’s wedding and she wants to have a good time, throw caution to the wind. And she sets out to do just that when she meets Boone at the bar. No names. No commitments. Just a one night stand. Except she forgets to mention to Boone she’s a virgin.

I loved the fact that these two were destined to be together. Yeah, it may be a little cliche but oh it’s so sweet! He’s her brother’s best friend. She used to write him letters when he was in the military. The connection was there even from all those years ago. They just never knew what the other looked like, until the day of her brothers’ wedding when she realizes her one night stand was with Boone.

Boone is sort of the typical ex military guy who had a bad past and has nothing good to give to a good woman. But Sloane pushes those limits and what he wants. Makes him want the things he thought he couldn’t/shouldn’t have.

Although some of the conflict in this book boils down to miscommunication, or better yet omission of truth, it wasn’t something that bothered me as it would normally. Boone and Sloane are sizzling from the start and they both have big personalities. It was nice to see them come together sweetly in the end. And I had fun reading it, I mean, there’s secret babies, amnesia and even a Mexican jail!

Favorite Quote:

Calm, rational Sloane was shouting up at her. Say no! Say no! Go inside. Right now!

She put her hand in his and told calm, rational Sloane to go to hell.

TEMPT ME – 3 STARS

Rocki is a lingerie store owner. She designs corsets, she has a success business, she owns her sexuality and has a ton of personality and confidence. She’s also been living a life without the love of a man since her husband, a cop, was killed in the line of duty 5 years ago.

I’m a fan of the strong, independent heroines, and Rocki has that in spades. She’s faced some ugly things in her past and pushed through. She was happy with the man of her dreams until life had other plans and dealt her another tough hand. But she emerged from that even stronger. She built her career from that, she gives back to the community. Definitely a great example of a woman. And one you want to see get an HEA and a break.

Cole on the other hand I didn’t think we got to know too well. He’s sweet and caring, and then he has a whole new authoritative side of him later on in the story. I just had issues with how his previous relationship was ending so easily after one quick realization and then jumping right into a new one head first. Time would’ve been of the essence here for me.

TEMPT ME is a bit of an insta-lust story. And while that is probably just fine for a short novella like this, I usually want more page count to get me to the feelings side of things. That’s just a me thing, I guess. I wish this would’ve been longer to give them both the time to get there in my mind. Especially him. Although they move along pretty quick, Rocki and Cole have great chemistry, and of course all the lingerie makes this a fun story!

Sloane is taking a night off at the local water hole the night before her brothers wedding, when a run-in with her awful ex turns into a gorgeous hunk coming to her aid. What was supposed to be just a one-night turns into something more, until Boone has to leave for another secret mission. Miss-communication leads to a break up that shouldn´t have been, but then disaster strikes. What happens now?
Fast paced read, contemporary romance, emotions and smutty fluff in a great combo.

Sloane was dumped the day before her wedding six months ago and fled her tiny town of Nowhere, Alabama (population 1941) to lick her wounds and get over the betrayal. She returns for her brother’s wedding, and on the night before, dresses to impress and heads over to the town’s only bar to show them all she’s changed and moved on. What she doesn’t expect is DB “Boone” Cassidy. He’s there for the wedding and soon after sparks fly, things go awry and somewhere along the way there’s romance. Kinda.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

- First book I’ve ever read by Ms. Walker : I like her flow, she’s descriptive yet doesn’t neglect the importance of dialogue. She managed to really bring the heat quickly between Sloan and Boone, as well as set up a fairly intricate plot in a very short page count. I’m not sure how I feel about certain plot turns, but...

- It had a really good start : As I said, the chemistry and heat between Sloane and Boone, and I was SOLD! and planning my visit to Ms. Walker’s backlist. I thought, typos and missing words aside, that the story was shaping up very well and I was ready to settle in and enjoy these two getting to really know each other and learning to deal with some unexpected events. And then…

melodrama
noun melo·dra·ma \ˈme-lə-ˌdrä-mə, -ˌdra-\
: drama in which many exciting events happen and the characters have very strong or exaggerated emotions

- A soap opera broke out in the middle of my romance novel : The story takes a sharp turn straight into melodrama, with secrets, lies, complete lack of communication and a bunch of bits that I wouldn’t have bat an eyelash had they occurred on Days of Our Lives. I don’t mind a bit of melodrama, and I’ve watched soaps all my life, so take that as you will. What I was truly surprised at, more than that is...

- Not expecting a novella : I’ll admit I was kind of surprised the story ended at 59% by my e-reader count, so I appreciated that there was a bonus story, Tempt Me. I really enjoyed it (more on that later) enough that I think saved my rating for this story and I’ll tell you why...

- PURE SPOILER REALM, Don’t read if you don’t want to know :

- Really liked the Bonus story Tempt Me : While this had its flaws, mostly OTT clearly unlikeable villain and the speed within Cole ends one relationship and moves onto Rocki, the story pulled me in and kept me reading. I’d recommend this read on the strength of this story being included.

The Bottom Line
I kind of liked Virgin’s Night Out, but I really enjoyed Tempt Me. It’s two novellas in one, a decent price and I’d recommend it if you don’t mind a bit of melo with your drama.

My Review:
This was an excellent book that I had a hard time putting down once I began reading it. If you have ever read Shiloh Walker, then you know that she writes with some real angst and emotion to her characters. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book because it looks much more light-hearted than her normal fare. Despite all appearances, this book is that same high quality angst and emotion that Walker writes in her other books.

Sloane has had a rough time in the romance department. Her sleaze of a fiancé dumped her right before their wedding, but he actually did her a favor and now she's looking for a fun night out before her brother's wedding to help in her recovery. Enter Boone...who saves her from the sleaze at the bar. But they hook up without names, neither of them realizing who the other is. Boone has been her brother's best friend for years and while the two of them became pen pals of sort, they never actually met. This whole aspect of the story line takes a little bit of suspension of disbelief, but it worked for me.

The story evolves and eventually covers more than a year of time and a whole lot of trials and tribulations for the two main characters. I liked how Sloane became such a stronger person over that time frame. She had a great character arc which really worked for me. In fact, eventually, most of it worked for me. I liked the characters. I liked the various back-stories, and the various conflicts were riveting and believable.

I have two minor issues with this book which ultimately earned it a slightly lower rating than it would have earned otherwise. One...it ended entirely too abruptly. I was fine with the ending. It just needed some sort of epilogue to truly feel complete. Two...that title is so not right for this book. Honestly, I feel like it's misleading. Her virginity was never the issue. In fact, it would have been nice if that spoiler hadn't been in the title, because it wasn't something even hinted at in the book until that moment when it was gone. The title makes it sound like a flighty little night out, but this book is so much more than that...in both subject matter and emotion.

This story didn't really work for me :( Will review it later on.

This is my 4th book by Shiloh Walker and while I quite enjoyed all the previous ones, this was a great disappointment for me.

It's a novella-length story which started promising with a revenge one-night stand between strangers but things quickly went downhill for me. The blurb doesn't really reveal much of the actual story so I'll try to keep my review spoiler-free which will inevitably make it a bit vague.

I felt the story lacked depth, too many things happened and they were just skimmed over without being fully fleshed out. The same holds true about the characters - there was no real spark to make me engaged in their fates.

The heroine was annoying pretty much from the start and she went making one wrong decision after another. Sloane outright lied to Boone and the fact that she tried to convinced herself and the others that it wasn't so based on semantics really put me off. Boone's character was more interesting and I felt more sympathetic with his situation. Yet again his plot arc lacked depth and detail and I couldn't fully connect with him, either.

The first encounter between them involved a whole bunch of tropes and stereotypes which I personally don't enjoy in my romances. The way the romantic relationship developed or rather, the lack of a real relationship was frustrating.

The ending was quite abrupt and just added to my dissatisfaction with this story. It had great potential but I felt it was wasted. The story went in a direction which I didn't really liked - based on lies, half-truths and miscommunication. The main conflict seemed fabricated and I didn't really feel the tension and intrigue to keep me interested in the story.

It was a quick and easy read, just not for me.

Sloane is dumped the morning of her wedding and is devastated. She leaves town and comes back for her brother’s wedding. She comes back to town with the intent to prove something, to herself and her ex-fiancée

After putting her ex-finance down at the local bar (as in punching him in the face), Sloan finds herself the focus of a super hawt man’s attention. They end up having a steaming one night stand where they do not exchange names or contact information. Sloane leaves, thinking she’ll never see him again- when in fact , she does…at Sloan’s brother’s wedding. It turns out the Mr. Hottie is DB Cassidy (aka Boone), her brother’s best friend and a member of the wedding party. It's the very same Boone Sloan has been corresponding with for years but never met.

One huge misunderstanding causes them to separate. Fate brings them back together and they must work thru their issues in order to get back together and to have that “Happily Ever After”.

I will say I was surprised at the semi dark tone in the story. I thought this was going to be a fairly light romance story but this has a darker tone to it. NOT complaining. I really loved this story and felt for both the main characters in the story. I understand where each was coming from. I felt their pain and understood how they did what each did to protect their hearts. I will say that the Hero did have a very rough and hard time –do not want to give too much away except to say that his pain was emotional and Physical pain that he suffered. This story will make you root for both H/h and stay on the story til the very end. Being that this is Ms. Walker writing the story, I had high hopes for a good story and as usual, she came thru.

3 1/2 stars! I really enjoyed reading this one. It had depth despite its short length and the development of the romance was nicely done. And scorching hot sexy times, hello!

Full review below.

Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. Yes, these are my honest and personal thoughts on this book.

Why did I want to read this book?

I wanted to find out what was in store for the two characters, especially Sloane, the female main character who is on a quest to reinvent herself.

What worked for me?

I definitely love the chemistry between these two. Scorching pages, you guys. But for my money, I also love that it wasn’t all about the heat and the sexual chemistry. They had to grow as individuals and I loved that they do this without the need to be with somebody. Although it is always an added bonus if you have somebody by your side, right? And these two, they just couldn’t stop thinking about each other. There is a slight time lapse but the author was able to sustain that vested interest in me, as a reader, hoping that these two would have their HEA.

What did not work for me?

I completely understood the time lapse but as a fan of the couple, I wanted more moments of them together.

My over-all take on it?

This was a sexy and surprisingly emotional story about how another person can come into your life and really makes you want to change for the better. It reminds me of how life and love can be a gift you give to another person as well as a gift you give to yourself.

The story of Sloane Redding and D.B. "Boone" Cassidy Jr., is complicated. He is her brothers best friend. They love him like a brother as well.

Sloane was sick of feeling sorry for herself and going home for her brother Taylor's wedding made her feel a little off. She decided a drink was in order for courage. She met a stranger at the bar who helped defend her from her ex-fiance who left her at the altar.

Boone was bored with the women throwing themselves at him in the bar. He was fascinated by the lady in the red dress, however, and the fact that she hit her ex. He was drawn to her and could not help himself.

Together the sparks fly and the heat literally sizzles. I was impressed with their relationship - or lack there of - due to the honesty given by both characters. You see the development of them both throughout.

Also, we get some work story on Boone, where he goes and what happens to him to keep him away from Sloane. He is hurting as much as she is and finding their way back to one another is key to our developing story. Also - there is a bonus book given, I am not sure if it is in all copies as I read an ebook version.

Sloane Redding was supposed to have been married six months before on Valentine's Day to Rodney, but he backed out. Boone "DB" Cassidy's two best friends were twin brothers Pierce and Taylor Redding, whom also happen to be Sloane's brothers. All three had been working for DDX Security Specialists. Pierce had been killed on a mission. After that, Taylor quit. Now Taylor is getting married and even though he doesn't want to attend the wedding, he still does because it's the last friend he has. Huley's is the only bar in Nowhere, Alabama. Sloane walked in to the bar to show her new self off, but then Rodney wouldn't leave her alone. Sloane hit him, but he wouldn't take the hint so Boone stepped in. She offered Boone a drink and dance and ended up in his hotel with him.
I really enjoyed the book, other than wondering if her brother's name is Tyler or Taylor (a grammatical error that continues throughout the book). There were a number of grammatical errors throughout the book, but still very enjoyable.

Librarian releasing her wild child.

A night of firsts, sexy red dress, drooling ex flatterned, anonymous sex, handing over v-card, knocked up. Then comes the twist that keeps the pages turning.

It sweet, sexy & glimpses into dangers of being noticed by a drug cartel. A mixture of apple pie & gladiator.

I almost felt ripped off as story ended at 58% … However,
BONUS
Tempt Me which is a sensuous novella about a voluptuous lingerie shop owner/designer/creator who is all that. Creativity honours fallen husband, has a dangerous stalker & attracts Mr Gorgeous (oh so lucky girl)

Ahh love at first sight. Love feeling good as I finish.

Beautiful story!
Loved the different play of emotions at the end.

Ugh! I don’t know how to write a good enough review for it without a bunch of spoilers, so just read it & love it!

Slight spoilers: I especially loved how Boone didn’t run away from Sloane after finding out who she was (at the wedding)

Only complaints:
1- After Boone starts to remember everything, there’s no talking about his capture. Not to his boss, Tyler or Sloane. I know the story was about them, but for such a big part of the story it felt like it was dismissed too quickly.

2- I was so into it that it felt like it ended too abruptly.

Good Job as always to Shiloh Walker!

Sloane comes home for her brother's wedding. Boone is her brothers best friend. They have a one night stand. The next day at the wedding they are shocked to see each other. When she gets pregnant, she doesn't tell him. He goes on a mission and is held in a Mexican prison. When he finally is rescued, he has partial amnesia. So he goes to Sloane and her brothers ranch to recuperate. Short. Sexilicous.
TEMPT ME....
Rocki is a widower and owns a lingerie store. Cole is engaged to a woman who is opening a store near hers. He breaks up with her and goes out with Rocki. Now they have to deal with his crazy ex and her stalker. Funny. Sad. Hot.

I won't recap the storyline, since that's easily available. I'll just say that I REALLY liked this book!

It was very well-written, as I always expect from Shiloh Walker. I did get a little confused after Boone went away and was suddenly being referred to by a different name, but it didn't take long to figure out it was the same guy. Also, it turned a little darker than I expected while he was away - not necessarily a bad thing, just unexpected. (Truth: Never judge a book by its cover.) Overall, I really got into it and liked it a lot.

Note: I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

What a disappointment.
I'm sorry to say I dnf this story. I read about half, got disgusted and skipped to the end.
The editing was terrible and some of the facts kept changing. First, Sloane's eyes were green, then they were brown. Next, Boone's eyes were green, then they were blue. WTF?
I liked Boone. He seemed like a really good guy. Sexy, sweet and caring.
I HATED Sloane. What a self centered bitch. She only thought of herself and out and out lied to Boone. That was so unfair and just plain wrong and he didn't deserve that.

I liked the main story okay. I did not care for the main character a ton. I know that she is hurt and just trying to protect herself, but that was cruel. I was interested in the hero's story a lot more. His story was incredibly interesting. In fact, that made me want to look into the rest of this series.

Bonus Story. The bonus story was FANTASTIC. I really enjoyed that story. I want there to be more in that series. The characters were very intriguing.

I found this one very sweet and heart breaking. Sloane was an interesting character. I loved the chance she took with Boone, but also loved how she talked with Boone about the potential "problem" because it wasn't a problem.

But with that being said, I liked that Sloane was there for Boone when he needed someone, was glad that she didn't talk around things, owned up to her secret and finally when she told Boone she wanted the same as him, everything,

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Sloane Redding is the shy one, the timid one. The morning of her wedding, she's dumped by the man she'd thought she'd spend the rest of her life with. Humiliated, she turns tail and runs, leaving Nowhere, Alabama for a job in the city. Sloane sets out to remake herself. She succeeds...on the outside. On the inside? Different story. She’s still the shy Redding. Still quiet, still more interested in standing on the side lines. But all of that is about to change.

The night before her brother's wedding, she strolls in the lone bar in Nowhere wearing wicked red and she's got one goal in mind: to show her ex-fiance just what he lost.

The night before his best friend's wedding, D.B. "Boone" Cassidy walks into the lone bar in Nowhere, Alabama with one goal in mind. Get wasted. Former military, he's spent the past few years as a security specialist and all around troubleshooter. It should have been easy to spot the trouble that night...a sexy woman in wicked red. It should have been easy. Yeah, right.

One thing leads to another and his plans to get wasted turn into a night with the sexy woman in red . Boone gets the shock of his life the next day when he shows up at his friend's wedding to find out he'd just spent the night wrapped around his best friend's little sister...and that isn't the only surprise.

Includes a bonus story, Tempt Me.

My Thoughts

Sloane Redding is in her early 20’s, she has always done the right thing, been the good girl and played it safe. Doing so has meant that she was jilted on her wedding day, told by said ex that she just did not have enough going for her to keep him interested. So what does a girl do when thrown over for someone else, she decides to show her two timing ex exactly what he let go and what he can no longer have.

Sloane has one goal when she returns for her brothers wedding in their hometown of Nowhere, Alabama and that is to find a way in which to make her ex-fiance Rodney drool. Wearing a sexy red dress, killer heels and her new attitude Sloane finds satisfaction when
Rodney falls for the bait and makes his approval clear to the point she has to actually fend him off when no does not work.

Boone Cassidy is in Nowhere for the wedding also, unbeknownst to Sloane he is one of her brothers former military comrades and also a good friend that she has heard about for years but never met.

After watching the altercation with Rodney and Sloane, as his attention had been snagged upon seeing the flaming red dress worn by the first woman that truly caught his eye in a very long time, Boone finds himself on the dance floor with Sloane in his arms. The overwhelming attraction between the two of them becomes harder to ignore as she turns up the heat and Boone soon finds himself spending the night with a woman whose name he does not even know.

After that one night when the two find out the next day who each other is Sloane pretends to be a stranger when her brother introduces them, Boone is torn but goes along. After the wedding the two go their separate ways but neither can get the other off their mind.

In Sloane’s case forgetting Boone will be near impossible for the consequences of her one night of recklessness result in a reminder that cannot ignore.

This is a story of longing for family, both characters have had to live with the shadow of either neglectful or abusive parental figures and now their inability to trust is at the core of the one of the main stumbling blocks that keep them apart for so much of this tale. Boone and Sloane both want the same thing, love and family but are not sure if they will ever find a way to making that long cherished dream come true.

As the story progresses things happen that come between the couple that even they could not predict, however fate plays strange tricks on us sometimes and when almost a year later they are reunited in Nowhere it is like they are given a second chance. A chance that may or may not work out depending on how one startling revelation for Boone causes him to either stay or run!

The Virgin's Night Out will punch you in the gut where it hurts, it will make you laugh, it will make you scream at both Boone and Sloane as they err on the side of caution over and over and in the end it will make you sigh with happiness that there is hope for a bright future to come.

The Virgin's Night Out by Shiloh Walker is one really fun, smoking hot, dramatic story. I really enjoyed this book.

Sloane Redding is a little shy and really not all that out going. However when she has to return home for her brother's wedding she lets her hair down a little bit and goes just a little wild. Sloane puts on her sexiest outfit and heads out to the local hang out with hopes of giving her ex an eyeful of what he is missing out on.

Oh my does she ever give him an eyeful, he checks out her new outfit and she checks out his face with a nice punch! Then Sloane is rescued by a handsome stranger. There is an instant attraction between Sloane and her handsome hero. Things quickly ignite between them and they are in for some fun.

HOWEVER, the next morning is just a little bit on the awkward side. Sloane finds out she just spent the wildest night of her life with her brother's best friend Boone Cassidy. Oh my....

After their wild night together and a few awkward moments at the wedding the split and leave things at that. Then Boone goes on another mission. Poor Boone is captured and tortured. This guy goes through so much and loses so much including a lot of his memories. Boone really is a great guy. He has a lot of emotional things from his past to overcome. Now Boone goes through so much while he is in an enemy prison.

Once he is rescued he returns to the states and stays with his best friend to get back on his feet. Sloane has a few surprises for him. I really enjoyed watching Boone get to know Sloane again and slowly remember what happened between them. One of my favorite story lines is friends turned lovers. They have a nice base to add a deeper relationship.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, this story is too good to spoil. You will want to find out all the details yourself when you read it. I will say there is a lot of drama, some great steamy scenes, a lot of emotion, a lot of stress waiting to hear news of Boone, a few secrets that are revealed slowly, and just really one heck of a storyline.

Shiloh Walker always amazes me with her great talent. She has such a wonderful way of writing an intriguing story that always keeps me captivated and glued to my seat. She creates really great characters that you can't help but cheer for when things go well and cry for when things go wrong. She has done a great job of telling Sloane and Boone's story.

I have Shiloh Walker's next release in my to be read pile. I can't wait to get to it. I know it will be fabulous. Her books always are.

I was given the opportunity to read this great book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on The Virgin's Night Out.

One night changes everything…

Sloane Redding is shy and timid but stronger than she used to be when she left her small town in Alabama for the city after being dumped and humiliated the morning of her wedding. She’s returned to attend her brother’s wedding, a new woman on the outside. She’s still a little unsure of herself on the inside but that doesn’t stop her from dressing in wicked red and picking up a sexy handsome man at the town bar and enjoying a night that she’ll always remember. There are a number of surprises in store for her beginning the very next day when she learns the identity of the man that she spent the night with. I love how she handled it.

DB (Boone) Cassidy is a security specialist on leave to be best man at his friend’s wedding, a friend who has been his brother in arms; only for such a friend would he do this. The protector in him comes to the rescue of a sexy woman in red at the town bar and though sensing she’s not the one stand type that he’s used to being with he’s so drawn to her that he can’t say no when given the opportunity to spend the night with her, a night that he won’t forget and those memories will help him get through trials that he will soon face.

From the title and the blurb I had envisioned something a bit different, what I found upon reading was a very sweet touching romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. It didn’t have the angst that so many other contemporary romances do but it did have a twist that’s trademark Shiloh Walker, our hero steps into darkness and returns home broken and both of the main characters have flaws to address. The storyline was believable and filled with much emotion. The romance is more than instant lust turned to love for there was a connection of minds made before the physical connection that perhaps was inevitable once these two met; the chemistry between them was evident from their first meeting.

Sloane matures into quite a strong independent woman though she has issues from her past that drove her actions and led to a misunderstanding before Boone went away on a mission. When Boone needs her though, she is there for him. Boone suffers some serious trauma on the job and Sloane’s brother doesn’t think twice about bringing him home to recuperate. Boone does more than heal in their small town, he finds redemption and a future that he never thought he would have or deserve. My only wish was that this story had been longer and with more depth to the aspect of Boone’s and Taylor’s career in the military and security which played such a part in making them who they are.

Very Brief Synopsis - WARNING! MINOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT (unavoidable, and kept to the minimum)Sloane is back in Nowhere, AL, for her big brother, Taylor's, wedding. The night before the wedding, she hits the town bar. She is determined to show her dumped-her-the-day-of-the-wedding ex what he is missing. Sloane meets a really hawt guy at bar, and one thing leads to another. By mutual agreement, they don't exchange names. Imagine Sloane's surprise when she meets her hookup the next day at the wedding. Turns out her anonymous guy is her brother's best friend, and her former penpal, Boone. The condom broke, and then Boone goes missing while on a mission.

What worked for me - Boone is a classic Walker tortured male, and NO ONE does tortured males as well as Shiloh Walker. He has a lot of childhood trauma to overcome, and a lot of guilt over the death of his other best friend, the brother of Sloane and Taylor. A lot of the I'm-not-worthy's going on.

Sloane doesn't want Boone to just be with her because of the consequences of their night together. When he asks her if "there is a problem" because of the defective birth control, she responds with a resounding "No", as, to her, the baby is not a problem. Sloane is a strong young woman, determined to make a good life for herself and her baby.

The writing, as always with this author, is sublime. She can capture a mood in just a scant sentence, a nuance, a well placed word. The mood of the story swings from sultry, when Sloane and Boone meet, to bleak and frightening, when Boone is in captivity, to redemptive, when Sloane and Boone finally get on the same page.

As a bonus, a truly lovely novella, Tempt Me, is included.

What didn't work as well - The hidden baby trope is not my fave. That said, I would read anything Ms. Walker writes, and in the end, I really enjoyed The Virgin's Night Out.

Bottom line - Highly recommend this title, and anything else you can find by Shiloh Walker/J.C. Daniels.

**An eArc was gifted to me in exchange for an HONEST review. I honestly enjoyed this novella.

They each had plans for the night but their plans go out the window and they end up spending it together and then they get the surprise of their life in this captivating contemporary romance.

Quiet and shy Sloane Redding has one mind in goal for the night – to show her ex-fiancé just what he lost and security specialist and troubleshooter, Boone Cassidy has one goal in mind for the night – get wasted. The reader can’t help but be pulled into the story as things spiral out their control and they end up giving in to a night of scorching hot sex and the surprises that come after that night turns their life upside down. Sloane and Boone both grab the reader’s attention and capture the heart as they try to deal with their complicated emotional issues over their past and present while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, emotional turmoil and romance.

The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the emotionally gripping story to life as the well orchestrated events ensures that the readers can’t put the story down until they have read every last word. Most of the suspense and anticipation of the story comes from the budding relationship of two wounded souls coming together but there is some added excitement when Boone’s job causes him some major problems.

I was completely caught up in this story from the very beginning –while it tugs at the heart it also is a sweet happily ever after romance that makes the heart feel good. The bonus story “Tempt Me” is a quick and enjoyable read full of passion and second chances that also captures the heart. (Be sure and see my review of “Tempt Me”, as well)

The Virgin's Night Out is the first book I have read by author Shiloh Walker. From the title and synopsis, I thought the story was going to be a sweet yet spicy read. It was all that and much more. It is an angsty love story, with some hot romantic scenes and characters that I really wanted to get to know.

Sloane and Boone meet for the first time at a local bar the night before Sloane's brother's wedding. Sloane is the maid of honor and Boone is the best man. Believe it or not, they have never met each other until that weekend. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts and they end up spending the night together.

I disliked Sloane the moment she decided not to tell Boone about her problem. There is a good chance he may have taken a safer job, if he would of known about her predicament. However, she redeemed herself over time. I am not a fan of romantic suspense or any type physical torture, and I would never request a book with those elements. So imagine my surprise when Chapter Nine was all about that. The scene was brutal and made my skin crawl.

Some book blurbs worn perspective readers about sexual content, this book should come with a torture warning. However, with that said, this is still a well-written book. The main characters, Sloane and Boone, are well-defined, easy to identify with and their connection is sizzling. Overall, this is an exciting short read and Ms. Walker's writer's voice is natural, realistic and homey.
