one of the most visually fantastic artbooks i've ever had a chance of picking up. if you ever get a chance to either look through it or purchase it, please do! it'll be worth your while.
the settings are detailed and amazing, the tinkered bits of machinery are beautiful. it's a one-stop inspiration for me.
My relationship with figurative arts is a bit problematic and characterized by envy. In Cannabis Works, Tatsuyuki is able to layer hundreds of references in a single image and tell a story in a way that words cannot really express. In this sense it's a visionary masterwork, because you don't need Japanese to understand it (you don't need to read at all) and because the stories that he's able to tell are groundbreaking in their genre.
I love Tatsuyuki Tanaka's works. The style is impeccable! If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic styles, or dark and robotic stuff, or just good art in general, this is definitely an art book to pick up. Unfortunately it's no longer in print, so prices online can be mad expensive, but you can find reasonable prices if you're willing to look.
