Strictly for readers who enjoy a big fat jerk of a hero coupled with a doormat/martyr complex heroine.

The book starts off with the hero telling off the heroin, his childhood friend, breaking their friendship because his new girlfriend ordered him to.

I need someone to stand with me. Not bitch like a little girl. Whining that she doesn't have enough of me. I can't have that shit and I don't want it. I've found myself someone who knows the score, and is okay with it. A girl tough enough to take the hits, and keep comin. Not a little kid like you who won't even put out.

This is only part of the horrendous speech he hurls at her. And then, what does she do? She forgives him the very next morning.

Next, when this gem of a hero gets married to his piece, and they have a baby, they give their daughter the name that the heroine had picked out for her own future child, a child she imagined having with the hero. The guy knows this will hurt her but he does it anyway because that way, he will still have a piece of her, whatever that means. And what does the heroine do? Congratulate them and offer to babysit.

For years, YEARS, the heroine sits there with the guy's wife continuously throwing shade at her and he just lets his wife do it, again knowing how much she is hurting the girl he supposedly loves. Naturally, the heroine has retained her V card the whole time because she is so in looooooove with this married man. The few dates she attempts end when the hero scares them off. Because he is so in loooooooove with her.

BARF.

If this awful story itself wasn’t enough to drive you bonkers, the typos and grammatical errors will.

Even Arrow whose [WHO'S!!!] nine-years my senior, and a fully patched brother in the MC offered, albeit drunkenly on both our parts, to relieve me of said status. Thankfully I know the offer was made in jest, because albeit he too, is a sexy grade A specimen of man meat, he isn't where my interest lies.

Is this a google translation of a foreign language?

I think what she means to say is:

"Even Arrow, who was nine years my senior, and a fully patched brother in the MC, had offered to relieve me of my virginity one night, when we were both drunk. Thankfully, I knew the offer was made in jest. While he was a sexy, grade A, specimen of "man-meat", I was not interested in him that way."

Not that the content is much better, but at least, this way, it would be easier to comprehend.

Other examples:

"the clubs lawyer" instead of "the club's lawyer"

"Looking more serious now, dad stare at me with his soul sucking grey eyes." Uh???

"he nods his ascent" instead of "he nods his assent"

And then some more nodding:

"Nodding appeased by my answer dad replies with, 'Fucking good woman that one. Be careful you don't fuck it up son. There's about fifteen odd brothers'that'd be more than happy to make her Ol lady."

Holy punctutation and spelling mess Batman!!!

"hour of six-AM"

"what you're head"

"the guys'that helped me"

I could go on and on but I choose to end it right here, like I ended my efforts to finish this book. Hot Mess!

This is supposed to pass for romance these days? I don't bloody think so.

Declan made my skin crawl.

I didn't realise this true love of his meant that he was screwing other girls from the age of 15. Yeah, that's how much he "loved" Kendell.

" I’ll admit where some chicks are star struck with celebrities I was pussy struck by Isabella in the beginning. Isabella Carmichael was one hot bitch. All legs, tanned, and tits that I knew would fill my big hands perfectly. The first time she went down on me, in the locker room no less should’ve known she was one classy bitch even back then, it was out of this world. The first time I fucked her it was nothing short of fan-fucking-tastic. She was wild, and I don’t mean just gave as good as she got.

Isabella wanted me to bend her over and spank her, fuck her ass. Even going as far as to do a threesome one time with me and Billy. That was at her request too. Where most dudes would be ‘Hell yeah’, Billy seemed a bit put off by the idea resisting for a good long while. At that time though, what my crazy sex-crazed girlfriend wanted she got. I called in a favour and Billy got down and dirty with us."

Oh yeah, he was sooo in love with Kendall...asshole. If he hadn't been obsessed with fucking other women especially Isabella then he would've had Kendell. But no, he couldn't keep it in his pants for other women. What a disgusting pig.

Are we really supposed to feel sorry for this slutpig because he was screwing another girl and knocked her up? Yeah, I don't bloody think so. He loved Kendell SO much for so long he would've kept it in his pants for HER, but he didn't want to. Dec deserved his wife and her cheating. That's all the asshole deserved. He's trash and that's what he deserved, whore trash. He was whore trash.

I love how everyone hates Kendell for getting knocked up & "trapping" the dickead, but no one blaims this asshole for SCREWING around on Kendell with not only Isabella but every other chick. Really? He's THE MOST to blaim.

Kendell needs a slap across the head to snap out of idiot dumb ass doormat mode. She is the most stupid spineless female character I've read in recent times. She is NOT strong in the slightest. Total loser pushover who lets the man walk ALL OVER HER.

It wasn’t the Creative use of capitals That slayed me or The heroine Perkily ignoring the fact that the love of her life (LOL) cruelly rejected Her and got the woman who HATES her pregnant then later baby sits for them so LOL and mean girl could have date nights. For heaven’s sake girl, you’re the virginal precious princess of a badass MC gang!

And the 6' 4", 250 lb alpha H was a cupcake in the hands of the evil OW. I kept waiting to read, "Yes ma'am, may I have another?"

Excuse me, H and h, whatever happened to beating, burning and burying the evil OW in a shallow grave?

Nope, none of that deterred from me from finishing. It was the fact that the Plot moppet meets Glock, the 18 year old love Of her life , when she’s five. FIVE.

I knows he’s eighteen-years-old because I asked him, and told him I’m five now. That’s when he gave me the big smile.

"Why that's little bit." He always calls me ‘little bit’.

He says it’s because I’m so little all over. I asked him what he’s going to call me when I get big, but he just laughed and said I will always be littler than him so he’ll still call me little bit.

I shook my head and gave the author the benefit of the doubt then googled Glock. Yep, there it is…Broken.

The title should've been "The ever faithful doormat".
The H was in love with the h since he was 9yrs old. And so, he falls head over heels in love with the evil ow, marries her, and makes a kid with her. He doesn't want the ow when he gets to know that she is super evil and manipulative, and then he wants the h back. The h, being the loving doormat she is, welcomes him back. Oh, btw! The h remained a virgin for the H who was getting it from the ow on a regular basis for 5 fucking years.
Sheesh!!! Why did I read this 🙄!!!! I can take cheating but NOT doormat zeroines.

The lack of editing on this one is bad, so bad I had to re-read passages several times to get it to make sense. Spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes that make reading a nonsense; all telling and no showing (ad nauseum I might add); virtually no dialogue, instead page after page of nonsensical rambling narration that drove me to total distraction.

Add to that she's a member of Doormats Anonymous and he's a self absorbed moron and you could say I had issues with this one!

Second chance romance for Kendall and Declan. Although I don’t think he ever technically cheats, I wouldn’t recommend for anyone concerned with safety. Some spoilers ahead….

I’m not going to lie; the writing isn’t the best. It’s a bit all over the place. It’s clunky and wordy, we’re constantly side tracked with random memories, the transitions are choppy, it needs editing, and is lacking development to make actions logical. For example, this opens with Dec (Declan-Cage) CRUELLY dumping Kenny (Kendall) as his BFF.

“Things are fucking changing Kendall. I’m prospecting as soon as we finish school. I need someone to stand with me. Not bitch like a little girl. Whining that she doesn’t have enough of me. I can’t have that shit, and I don’t want it. I’ve found myself someone who knows the score, and is okay with it. A girl tough enough to take the hits, and keep coming. Not a little kid like you that won’t even put out.”….

“When you look in the mirror I hope you’re happy. I hope you see what I do. I spoilt selfish little girl that needs everyone to do everything for her. A girl that does nothing for anyone else. It’s always all been about you Kendall. Well, not this fucking time. She’s ten times the woman you are. You’ll never be anything, but that scared lonely little girl crying in the fucking grass.”

This on its own doesn’t make a ton of sense because who has to breakup with a friend? IMO, it would’ve worked better had they been dating. At that point there wasn’t anything that portrayed her as needy, mean, or selfish, so his tirade didn’t fit either.

We pick up 5 years with a very different Dec who now HATES his wife, and Kendall is the love of his life since the age of 9 but rather than explaining this change of heart… were given a set of memories with Kendall falling out of a tree and his early sex capades with his wife which added nothing to me understanding why he so cruelly rejected his BFF if he loved her. Also, his reason for staying in his hate-filled marriage was silly. These are hardcore bikers, how is a skank blackmailing them?

My biggest gripe is the lack of drama. We are provided a wide set of actions, but given ZERO reactions because Kendall readily accepts EVERYTHING. For example, when Dec’s skank wife takes the name Kendall has always wanted for her future daughter…

ACTION - That’s when I wrecked Kendall. Not because I wanted too, far from it, but because I knew the blow she wouldn’t see coming would devastate her to the core. “Her name is Alexis,” I told her.

REACTION- Not missing a beat Kendall sighs heavily looking down on my daughter. “Its perfect. She’s perfect. It fits her beautifully.”

As you can see, all emotion is sucked out when there’s no reaction. This is the theme for the entire book which made little sense to me. Why have all these hits come if they’re never going to be addressed? What’s the point? Even the doormat-iest of the doormats cry and shake in private so we can “feel sorry for them”. Why would I care if she doesn’t? 🤷‍♀️ Literally nothing gets a reaction out of her… being dumped, OW insults, stealing baby name, even hearing that he has a box of condoms in his nightstand (implying he’s still having sex with the wife-he is) gets nothing.

Bottom Line- I would only recommend to readers that are looking for a Jerry Springer type of read because it’s quite OTT (free to read with KU) and the evil ex drama is high. If you’re looking for anything to make sense or romance…keep searching because I think you’ll be disappointed.
Safety- Short on-page sex scene between H and Isabella while they’re still married- he doesn’t finish.

Most unromantic speech before having sex for the first time...😂

“Sweetheart, you’ve been all over my cock, so you know it isn’t small. This shit hurts for all women apparently, I haven’t ever been with a virgin, but I can assume it isn’t going to be any different for you, Sweetheart.”

Broke the 4th wall way too much for the writer’s ability. I’ve seen it done well (Tangled - Emma Chase). Here, not so much. There’s also a shit-ton of telling...hate that, too. The first chapter is almost purely exposition. There’s a lot of that.

Then there’s the h. 5’1” with a tiny waist to boot...but it’s her “sport(ing) a pair of D-cups” that “hurt her back” that kept my eyes rolling. I’m a fucking tree I’m so tall. I needed to marry a 6’+ guy for a reason...I can rock a pair of 4” heels. Plus hubby thought it was “sexy as fuck” to have all our parts line up so well when I wore them ;)
#sorrynotsorry

Rambling contained and circling back to the point...I feel like 90% of heroines are these tiny fairy bitches with pornstar pert cannonballs.
#heightist

At least this one wasn’t blonde.

This book was tame. It was just wam bam with the angst that wasn’t. Over and done with hearts and flowers and possibilities...enter the villain. One chapter later it’s solved. Rinse and repeat.

The writing wasn’t the worst, I’ve read better shit writing (Here’s looking at you Jamie Begley and Dawn Martens). I was so bored by the rambling H/h POV’s careening off into massive page long tangents that I had to force myself to remember what the fuck they were doing before they took a mental left and broke the 4th wall with info dumps. But the angst in comparison to other subpar MC books was relatively nonexistent.

Which was sad for my angst whore heart.

This had so much potential, but fell short. The story of Kendall (MC princess, tiny, innocent) and Declan (Kendall's childhood BFF, MC member). Declan and Kendall grew up together and became best friends throughout high school and at some point, they fell in love. Crazy circumstances has Declan breaking Kendall's heart.

Kendall is the MOST forgiving person ever! She goes through a few tough times and she just smiles and powers right through it. Be warned: Declan you will not like. He did some low s*it early on and I had a hard time viewing him in a better light. Apparently, I was not as forgiving as Kendall! He needed to feel the pain!

The book also introduced many, and I mean many, secondary characters and each character's backstory. More than likely I will not continue reading the story because I was not a fan of the writing style.

Why Not 5 Stars?

Writing Style - Several times I stopped reading this book because of the writing style. I actually starting reading another book and forced myself to finish this one. There was very LITTLE dialogue between the actual characters. The bulk of the book was inner character dialogue and explaining everything. For example, when Veronica's character was introduced, she would perhaps interact with Kendall and then we read Kendall's head talk about Veronica. We learn all about Veronica's childhood and everything that happened to her. This went on for pages and pages. This happened for each secondary character. I wanted, I needed to have characters interact with each other. I did not like the fact the characters told you what happened after the fact.

Motorcycle Club? - Give me a break! This was the weakest MC I have ever read about. After the initial drama went down, the MC did NOTHING. The MC did NOTHING to track or eliminate the threat. NOTHING! Saying the MC is bada** does not make it so. The MC lets

Unanswered questions - There were many unanswered questions at the conclusion of the book. Characters were introduced with no purpose. The ending was about the next couple and nothing was wrapped up with Kendall and Declan's story. Very disappointing.

I want to read this one, but evidently writing is really bad. If one of you read it can you let me know if it's worth the time. I'm sure it's rage inducing, lol, but if writing is bad it spoils my enjoyment of the gut punch. I'll just wanna gut punch the author, and that's not good. For the author or me.😁

I bought it when it was on sale in Amazon BR and had totally forgotten, but I saw a post in one of the groups I participated in and started reading. The story is cool and has some action and intrigue. The characters are all very interesting and since I already bought the other books, I will continue reading. It's cool, but nothing extraordinary!
------------
UPDATE: 2018
------------
It is a book that does not stand up to a second reading.
She is a complete doormat who stays a virgin waiting for him from afar while he fucks with everything that has a hole until he impregnates a bitch and has to marry her.
He ends their friendship because the bitch does not accept her, but by doing so he humiliates and completely destroys her.
If she had moved forward and lived and later they would be together in the future, it would be more acceptable. But she was frozen in time, protected by club members from other guys interested in her and still babysitting his daughter with the other woman.
Unacceptable. #WTF
"Dec and Billy had heaps of girlfriends over the years. Starting from when we were about fifteen they were never short of company of the female persuasion. Swim team girls, cheerleaders, it didn’t matter they all wanted a piece of the boys that were family to me."

"She’s ten times the woman you are. You’ll never be anything, but that scared lonely little girl cryin in the fucking grass.”

At this juncture I have to say; a lot of you might think I’m weak, or pathetic maybe because I forgive Dec so easily seemingly overlooking what he did.

“Makes me a happy man no ones’ been near this pussy before Baby. I’m going to take care of you Babe. You ride my hand and I’ll take care of the rest, yeah?”

“Fucking, fuck me, Baby. You can deep throat like a motherfucking pro. Seriously, that was by far the best fucking head I’ve ever had.” His voice grows serious, “Have you done that often before, Babe?”

“Well then, I’m a fucking lucky man Baby, because you suck cock like a fucking champion.”

Blurb:
BURNT A Devil's Spawn MC Novel AS Devil's Spawn MC's unofficial princess, people assume Kendall Jacobs is as hard and unforgiving as the men she calls her family. Even after having her heart broken at eighteen years old by her best friend and the man she's loved from the time she could walk, Kendall didn't become resentful or jaded. Instead, she fought back by living her life to the fullest. WORKING hard to try and convince herself that she was better off without him, Kendall has all but moved on when fate changes the course of her life, changing everything in the blink of an eye. THERE is no doubt in Declan 'Cage' Mark's mind that he made a huge mistake five years ago by marrying the mother of his daughter. But that isn't what continues to haunt him; turning his back on the life-long friendship he built with Kendall and the way he rejected her heartfelt declaration of love is what keeps him up at night. WATCHING as Kendall's moves on without him has left Cage a broken man, and he knows that without the support of his club, he wouldn't have made it through the last five years. However, there is absolutely nothing his brothers can do to save Cage from the terrifying reality that he may finally lose Kendall for good when he finds out she has been taken from him. IN the end, Cage realizes that getting Kendall back is only half the fight; convincing her to give him another chance is an entirely different battle. One Cage might just have to accept he might not win.

New author

This book is about Declan and Kendall. They grew up together in the MC and were best friends. He fell in love with her when he was 9. She fell in love with him at a young age too but of course they kept it to themselves. The beginning of the book had me in stitches when Declan asked Kendall's Mom if all women liked to have their p**** eaten. He was 8 and thought his dad was eating a cat after hearing a lady friend of his dad's yell out. So freaking funny. Declan and Kendall do everything together until a girl comes between them. He says some horrible things to her to protect her but their friendship is over after that. They still love one another though. Got to say Declan was pretty hot. He was a dirty mouthed alpha and well endowed. There is a HEA for them but lots of things happen to Kendall before this happens. I was a little disappointed that there was not an epilogue to wind up their story but I understand why based on what happened at the end of the book. There are some bonus chapters at the end and I just hope the author is planning to write this story about Alexis and Glock.
I'm on to book 2 of this series. Highly recommend the book.

Horrible editing in this book. Misplaced words, misplaced commas, sentence fragments, etc. The really sad thing is that in the book blurb, it states that the book has been re-edited. I would hate to see what it looked like prior to the re-edit! I enjoyed the overall story, but the poor editing was very distracting. The author tried to set up the next book by giving us background on some of the secondary characters, but it was awkward placement and made no sense in the context of the chapter the information was contained. I loved Kendall, even though I think she forgave things way too easily. Declan acted somewhat wimpy for what was supposed to be a big bad ass biker. I'm not sure whether I will read the next book in the series.

SPOILERS

Hero, Declan gets gf pregnant she threatens to take their baby away unless he stays with her, marries her and continues to have sex with her whenever she wants. So he has to push his best friend and girl he truly loves the heroine Kendall away. Kendall still is in the picture as she is part of the MC world and continues a somewhat civil relationship with Declan. Soon, however, he catches his wife getting it on with someone else and leaves her!! I don’t get how he was part of an MC but had such a difficult time getting rid of her? Isn’t the whole thing about MCs that they are tough and rough?
Later Kendall is kidnapped for about 7 months.. The whole missing for 7 months really did not seem necessarily as it was wrapped up in about 3-4 pages (if that).

Overall, I did not enjoy this book (yet still read another in the series).

Thing I disliked most was probably that it was wayy to descriptive not enough dialogue!!

I skimmed a lot!!

the only thing I find is some of the spelling but there is not anything more wrong with this story. This will grab you from the beginning and will never let up not even at the end. At times it will get your tears flowing or laughing out loud and others will have you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait to read more stories from Ms Thomas.

D to the N to the F at 65%. Whole, repetitive paragraphs of how this sad heroine took the hero back with open arms. Once the heroine's monologue said something to the effect of "you may think I am weak, but there is nothing stronger than taking back someone who you love, who's wronged you." I am paraphrasing, but that was the gist - it was like the author took a bad review and put it in the mouth of the heroine, and then allowed her to defend herself...badly. Of course I want the HEA, and I don't mind a smidgeon of doormat in the heroine, but this was beyond - he was forgiven for treating the h like total crap without any effort at all. In high school, he gets a witch of a girlfriend who puts the kibosh on the H and h friendship, and the H cuts the h off completely and terribly. And she doesn't ignore him or feel any anger for him, just keeps on friendly terms with him through their years of quasi-estrangement. And marries the OW, who he quickly realizes is not a good person, for the entire book he doesn't even like the OW . There was no OW angst, how could there be if he didn't like her but was trapped with her? It was just the H saying he's been waiting for an opportunity to be with the h for years. You know, because initiating a divorce is so difficult. And I should have paid attention to the other reviews that pointed out the grammatical issues, they abound! I couldn't do it anymore. I really don't like writing negative reviews unnecessarily but it has been cathartic to let loose on this one

This wasn't a bad read but, it isn't so much a MC read either. It's more about two people being best friends all their life, to being torn apart and then finding their way back. Yes it has a MC within the story but it isn't the main theme.

I loved these characters! The storyline was a good one although I'm disappointed that the MC hasn't gone after the rival MC that took and tortured Kendall for seven months. It was awesome that Dec finally got his woman and Kendall her man. While it ended on a cliffhanger which I normally hate, I loved the lead up and thankfully have the next book.

Now I do have a big complaint. This author definitely didn't have an editor or anyone with any editing skills. There was so many errors in punctuation and grammar as well as the wrong wording (there instead of their, for example) that I found it VERY distracting.

I am being generous- truly! Only cause I was still sucked into this MC drama.

Without giving away details our heroine is loved by EVERYONE except one person who seems hell bent on destroying her life, love and future.

Our hero being young perhaps thinks with his dick and allows the only human being that doesn't love the h to manipulate him. This leads to so many events it's laughable.

I actually laugh out loud when he is promoted in rank to communications whatnot cause this guy doesn't seem to be that well equipped in the intelligence department at all.

He recognizes early on after events are set in motion that he has made a pretty knarly bed to lie in and tries desperately to change his circumstances.

He is again outmaneuvered and this is where my star ranking is generous. The MC seems incapable of obtaining the revenge due to the h. Pure and simple this is not right. Even as events unfold I am disappointed that restitution was delivered at the end in a knee jerk reaction rather than having been performed in what my guess is the three months since events came to light.

Revenge should have been torture over a prolonged period of time. I know I sound blood thirsty but if you read the book you will get my meaning. Not only that but you read about the support of another MC in obtaining revenge but nothing transpires - maybe I missed it!

One last thing, the narration goes off on tangents to the point you forget where you originally started. It's like having a conversation with Grandpa Simpson No Shit! Still I read it and skimmed a bit 🙃
