Loved these stories since the '80s. Working my way through them one more time. Adventure, Romance, primitive technology, ancient cities, political intrigue, natural disasters of history, historical novels with some of the work taken out. This team of authors had a real grip on this period of time and a few historical villains, maniacs, and heroes. Stories to read if you need to get the wonder back. Far Out - as we used to say. I will certainly read these again.

I knew once I opened the next book in this series, it would't take me long ot read it. I am finding them quite addictive. Each book explodes with more conflict (everything is falling apart in both ends of Egypt) and ever more complicated characters. Joseph is struggling to hang on to his power and his life while the Pharaoh Salitis falls deeper into madness and powerful forces plot to bring him down. Oh yeah, he aslo struggles to forgive his brothers (who sold him into slavery) when they show up to buy grain. Meanwhile, Ben-Hadad lets bitterness eat him from the inside, pushing away his wife and Shobai's twins, who are growing to be better than he ever was. Ketan and Teti are on the verge of adulthood and learn of love and heartbreak. Many familiar characters are back, and we meet new ones. My favorite? Riki, a child of the streets who is destined for something. I'll have to wait until the next book to discover what.

I just finished this 6th book and I liked it better than #5. Battle scenes were good.
Some main characters in the series died off.
Joseph is still alive, but with lost status.
Realistic love affairs and an old flame not quite as glamourous as his dreams about her.
I didn't believe a female blacksmith but, I've been sold.
Some little boys and an old man doing amazing unrealistic things but I enjoyed the writer.
Nice lit. scenes of the Nile.
Commerce will always be with us, as will be the lust for power.

Book six of Children Of The Lion series. This one is good but not as strong as the others so far. I found that the author has developed this annoying habit of retelling every main characters' story every other chapter in synopsis form. That is not needed as they have to trust that the reader knows what happened. On to the next one in the series.

3 out of 5 stars.

Number 6 in The Children of the Lion Series. This starts as one of the weaker entries in this series, but finishes strongly. Part of the problem with the entire series is that is filled with cliched situations. Recommended only for fans of historical biblical fiction!
