A sweet and cute scientific take on what happens when a nerd and jock fall in love.
“When our eyes meet I feel a little buzz of electricity flow through my body. I realize it’s a biochemical reaction. I’ve triggered activity in the ventral tegmental area of my brain and a surge of dopamine has been released into my brain’s pleasure centers. Even knowing the science behind the biochemical reaction I still feel fluttery.”

Sedona Miller has never been normal. But who wants that? Normal is just setting on the dryer. She’s an odd nineteen year old, who’s already a senior in college setting her sights on a Neuroscience PhD. She’s got it all figured until an ill-fated accident forces her to find a new job.

Mr. Hotty McHot-Hot, basketball god, Jesse Walker isn’t a hotshot when it comes to hitting the books. But when Sedona walks into his study room he’s willing to put it all on the line, including trusting her with his innermost secret that could ruin his career.
They thought they had nothing in common, but from the moment they met their attraction was clear. Will they let stereotypes keep them apart? Or will they find that they have more things in common that are invisible to the naked eye and form a deeper, stronger bond that goes beyond superficial preconceptions?
“We’re like two people from different planets trying to communicate when we don’t speak each other’s languages.”

I really liked how Sedona and Jesse carried on from the start. She got peeved easily and Jesse enjoyed getting to her. Mostly because she thought she had him figured out, but there was something about him that made her feel happy, besides the fact that she just couldn’t understand why she didn’t crack open a book or take notes. I think the scientist in her needed to know him.
“I know you’re too good for me. You’re so high above me. It’s like some kind of miracle that you want to be with me… You’re brilliant and beautiful. You’re definitely not like anyone else. But that’s what makes you even more special.” ►♫

I felt so bad for Jesse, because it was clear he had some kind of learning problem which translated into him feeling unworthy. But I loved Jesse’s appreciation of her uniqueness and how he let down his walls and made himself vulnerable to her because she was also the one person who saw beyond his basketball aura. There was some insta-love going on, but it’s clear they’re good for each other, even when most of the important people in Sedona’s life though different, mostly her mother and her roommate Lewis.

Oh Lewis! I started feeling sorry for him. It was obvious he was in love with Sedona, but I he started acting immaturely and extremely sentimental, which put a stop to my sympathy for him.

Interference is an enjoyable story. All the necessary ingredients are present. A good premise, charming and loveable main characters and an interesting and strong attraction. But I feel as though there was room for improvement regarding the execution, which could have produced a slam dunk.

There were some inconsistencies and parts that felt as though the surface was barely scratched and because of this I felt there to be some too rushed sections including he ending. The dialogues at times were a bit rigid. But none of it lower the sweetness intake of the romance between Sedona and Jesse.
“The ventral tegmental area (VTA) of my brain has been triggered. A flood of the neurotransmitter dopamine has been released into my brain’s pleasure centers. And the result is a ‘lover’s high’ not unlike using cocaine, and some say just as addictive. That’s the neurobiology of falling in love.”

Interference is a cute standalone, contemporary basketball romance with a happy ending.

Sedona is nineteen years old and a college senior, she's a very clever girl, she's also a bit nerdy having been raised by her mother in a collective. She shares an apartment with her best friend Lewis. When Sedona has an accident injuring herself she loses her job at the college library. Then Lewis jokingly suggests she should ask to tutor an athlete. Sedona needs money to pay her way so that's exactly what she does. Jesse is a big star on the basketball team and is the guy she's assigned to help. What Sedona doesn't realise is that Jesse has a secret, and it's a biggie!
While I liked this story it's a little sweeter on the romance side of things than I usually read. The reason for my three stars is that it's underdeveloped, the relationship, the plot the whole story feels rushed. Once Jesse's secret comes to light it's dealt with in a very superficial way. There were other issues in this that were glossed over as well. As to the characters they were easy to relate to even though it had that insta love going on, well at least on Jesse's part. Sedona was a little bit wishy washy, she never quite seemed to fully commit IMO. Jesse was a sweet guy, he's a little more vulnerable than the alpha leading men that I'm used to reading about, but I did like him. This was a enjoyable read I just wished it had been fleshed out more.

After an accident leaves neuroscience student Sedona Miller out of a job, she finds an opportunity as a tutor for basketball athlete superstar Jesse Walker. Sedona is not sure how to teach a student who hasn't even opened the book and it is mid term already. As she gets Jesse on board to begin studying, Jesse throws a curveball when he begins showing interest in Sedona.

Very fun book. Sedona is a bit of a hippy and Jesse is the opposite of what a high profile basketball star would be. He genuinely is interested in Sedona and when a secret is revealed, he finds the only one who he truly wants believes in him is Sedona. Great Read.

This is one of the most interesting read I had so far with Dakota Madison. I knew there was something wrong with Jesse Walker – I had some idea, after all, it may not be pretty normal but it is not unheard of. It’s almost a taboo, a shame, something that not everyone needed to know, but should understand.

Their first meeting was not really that eventful, considering all those awkward moments. But nevertheless, despite of their differences, one thing is for sure: Jesse wanted Sedona riled up. She might not be just some girl who likes to

Jesse Walker was the star of the basketball team, but he was failing his Jazz class – no thanks to his teacher. Sedona Miller was graduating college when some are just starting. She grew up in a collective, and he grew up in a s**tty place. She was supposed to teach him. He wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her.

But things happen, and before she knew it, she exactly in the place she was warned about: in the arms of the basketball player. Problem is, there’s this little secret that could ruin not just Jesse’s future, but the school’s basketball team as well.

HER
I like intelligent heroines, one that can move mountains and build spaceships (or the like), and still can be sexy as hell. She can be a little naïve, a little eccentric and weird by nature. But she has a big heart, she’s brave and she’s one heck of a friend. There are times when I get a little frustrated with her – but hey, just wait until the end of the story…

HIM
He just wanted to play basketball, whatever the cost is. I like his drive, his passion and his zest for life. He’s everything you’d ever want especially if you’ll know every bit of his secret. He is an unexpected surprise (good and bad). He might keep secret, but I always knew he’s one of the good guys. He’s genuine – and one could easily fall for him. He might be one of the biggest hotshot in their school and in the court, but he’s humble. Who can resist a hot guy without an attitude?

He might not be perfect, but so is she. Together, they are not your ordinary couple, but they simply belong.

It’s a sweet tale of first loves, which may be young but you can feel the ‘real-ness’ of it. A tale so familiar, and yet Dakota Madison gave it a different voice, especially with a controversial issue that she incorporated in it which made this book a great read.

Meet Sedona who is a bit eccentric. She was raised in a Collective where a bunch of families live together under the same roof. Sedona is a brilliant, a vegetarian, eats organic and only shops at second hand stores for her clothes.

Meet Jesse Walker who is the star basketball at their college, loves meat, and has everyone wanting to be by him or with him. These two people could not be more different, but they have to work together when Sedona gets fired from her library job and has to work as a tutor an Jesse has no choice but to accept the nerdy Sedona as a tutor because if he does not pass his class, he will not be able to play basketball.
One thing I want to say it that I loved Jesse and not in the” I love him because he was hot and swoon worthy”. Jesse was just everything beautiful and perfect. Jesse had people constantly wanting his attention and women throwing themselves at him, but he was so kind and loving to Sedona. His popularity never got to head. In the beginning, the reader may think he is a snob about teachers just letting him get away with anything, but once you know the truth behind that, you will understand why he was that way. Jesse is someone I would love my daughter to date. It took me a little bit to get used to Sedona. Even after finishing this book I am not sure how I felt about her. Her attitude at times bothered me to the point that I wanted Jesse to walk away from her.

At first it took me time to get used to the writing style. Initially, I felt that a chapter would be with Sedona and Jesse and then the following chapter was a complete repeat of the previous chapter with Sedona explaining everything to her male best friend and roommate, Lewis. It got annoying and boring and was worried the entire book would be like this. However, it stopped a few chapters later. I think I just had to get used to the writing style.

This is story that has been told a hundred times, the star athlete who falls for the nerdy brain, but I love these stories and I can read them over and over. Jesse was perfect, if I did not mention that already. LOL, but when you read this book, you will see why.
Favorite thing out of the 100 that Jesse did for Sedona was waiting for the employee to find Sedona’s favorite sandwich and favorite scene was when Jesse programmed those two great songs in her iPhone.
Enough said.

Sedona is an unconventional college student. She is about to graduate from college and pursue a graduate degree in neuroscience at the age of 19. An accident causes an injury that prevents her from continuing with her regular campus job and she finds herself in need of employment in the middle of the semester. Sedona finds work tutoring one of the university's basketball stars. Jesse Walker is a notoriuos bad boy and star athlete. He desperately needs help in passing one of his classes, and as Sedona works with him she finds that not only was she wrong about many of her assumptions about Jesse, but that there are secrets and systems in place at her university that she knows need to be addressed, but will cause problems for the person she is starting to care a lot about.

This book was a pretty quick read, and I stayed engaged in the story throughout. Sedona is an interesting character partially because she isn't super easy to get along with. She is the product of a unique upbringing, and is incredibly book smart, but is fairly socially naive. Jesse has a lot of charisma and athletic talent, but is juggling a lot of personal issues as well as faces a lot of stereotypes that don't fit him. The chemistry between Jesse and Sedona was hot, and it was interesting to see them find a lot of common ground despite some of their major differences. I felt like things happened a little too easily in certain aspects of the story. Primarily in Sedona's making discoveries about who her father is and how things are resolved with the major issue of the story. I did appreciate that this author tackled some pretty important and current topics in this story. I also enjoyed watching Jesse and Sedona find an important relationship in one another. I was really hoping that things would work out for both of them. I would read more by this author in the future. 3.5 stars.

Interference is a cute, quick read. The romance is sweet, and you'll find yourself hoping that there really are guys out there like Jesse who don't take advantage of the bevy of girls who fall all over themselves for a guy who plays on the school team.

Jesse is the epitome of the sweet jock, and Sedona is his polar opposite as a brainy, hippie-type. But the two of them just click together, even with Sedona's blissfully unaware attitude toward the sports community. Sedona is so understanding of Jesse's situation, and immediately wants to be able to help him and not hurt him or his future once she finds out his secret

The writing style did feel a bit matter-of-fact and straightforward, which made it feel like we were being presented with the story instead of getting involved and wrapped up in it. Sedona and Jesse's relationship did seem like it moved pretty fast.

Interference makes for a good read, seemingly aimed more at the college-aged readers. Recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations, it was a 3.5-star read for me.

The jock and the nerd.
Total opposites thrown together due to Sedona's financial situation. She's forced to tutor students after losing her job.
The star basketball player and the book smart "nerd" seem like an unlikely couple to me, but I may be the minority in that department.
Interference was a cute, semi sweet read. There's not much drama even though there is the potential for it on numerous occasions.
It's a good quick read if your looking for something fun and light.

As little girls we all remember the first time our mom painted our nails. The sensation of the thrill it gave us little girls as it became a rite of passage for some of us. The first time we got to act like big girls for the world to see with the vibrant color that was brushed upon our nails. With each stroke of the brush we would get giddier and giddier knowing that we made it to big girl status. Looking back now we come full circle as we cast the first vibrant stroke of the brush on our little girls nail. The memories that we cherish when remembering our first time are the memories that will span a lifetime to come.

Jessie-basketball player, sexy

Sedona-smart, pretty

Lewis-best-friend of Sedona’s

Jessie the basketball player that can have any woman he such desires. He isn’t the normal by far. He comes from a past that no woman would understand but that doesn’t seem to matter to most woman since he is a star in his own right. What happens when looks can be deceiving and this basketball player is more than just a pretty face? He has a secret that most do not know but when the secret is cast out upon one woman that captured his heart by just one ill remark will this basketball player be able to keep his heart or will she run for the hills and not give this one basketball player the chance to earn the love that he has given her at just one ill remark?

Sedona is a strong woman that is beautiful in her own right. She isn’t flaunty or trite about it. She is the nerdy girl that everyone sees but doesn’t see. She stands out in her own right and sings to her own song and that is fine with her. When an accident prevents her from her continuing her work she must take a leap and find a job that suits her and fast. As taking this new job she comes to understand that ill remarks are the total norm and should be cast upon lightly. The jock that is an instant attraction has her mind and body going whacky what will she do with such hurdle? Will she be star struck or will it be more?

Jessie and Sedona’s journey is funny at times, calm at times and frustrating too. As this couple makes strides in their relationship that has a rocky start will they be able to conqueror all the hurdles and make it to being the ones that the history books write about? The first time in the bedroom with these is lovely and calm actually but the passion is explosive especially when Jessie lets Sedona in on a secret that he has been carrying around for some time. Can first loves become eternal loves this is their journey.

Lewis is Sedona’s best-friend but carry’s a torch for her what will happen to him in this amazing journey?

To the author: This was one amazing read. Taking a couple from the proverbial different sides of the tracks but really weren’t is well in a word amazing. You have created such an emotional read and shown what in reality does happen to basketball players in today’s society but we tend to overlook what is right in front of us for fear that showing the world may endanger the team we have so richly held to our high standards. Everything is not always what they seem we just have to look a little deeper to find the truth and be brave enough to come forward without fear. Kudos

To the readers: Enjoy

Happy Reading

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sedona Miller knows what she wants, and is well on her way to getting it. She is deeply entrenched in trying to make it through the remaining days of her undergraduate studies, hanging out with her roommate Lewis, and planning for the future. That is, until life throws a curveball, er, minivan in her way. Her injured arm causes a change in jobs so she can make ends meet. She decides she’s going to take on tutoring athletes. In turn, she meets Jesse Walker. Her world is about to be turned upside down by someone who lives in a completely different world. Jesse opens her eyes and her heart.

Jesse isn’t exactly what you would expect out of university basketball player. On the surface, he is the hot guy every girl is lining up to meet and day (and well, other things, too). However, what lies beneath the surface is an even better prize. He’s a sweet, considerate man, but he’s vulnerable. He wants to take the time to learn about Sedona; what makes her happy, why she thinks what she does, what will make her smile. He wants her heart. She already has his, and she doesn’t even know it.

“There’s only one person in this little love triangle who is capable of breaking hearts, and that’s you”

“Me?”

“You have absolutely no idea, do you? You’re the one with my heart in your hands.”

Yep, here’s a side plot hint. There’s a love triangle…Oh, there are a few other surprises along, the way, too. Luckily, Sedona has Jesse by her side to help her weather these situations.

What Sedona doesn’t know is that Jesse has a secret. And it’s a big one. Can she stay with him, even when she finds out what he’s hiding? Can they make it together or are they too different? Can she do what she knows needs to be done? What about Jesse? What about her heart?

This book is done so wonderfully. The lead man is a departure from the cocky, self-assured guy who wins the girl. Don’t get me wrong… Jesse knows he’s a god on the court. He’s a hottie with no end. What’s so wonderful about the way he’s written is his sensitivity and vulnerability. It’s a very hard balance to write a character with such depth and caring without having him come across as too sappy or effeminate. Madison walks the line perfectly, making him the perfectly innocent heart throb. Sedona is the stereotypical nerd; she’s a bookworm, doesn’t know how she affects men, and an overachiever. But, her sweetness makes it all new and refreshing. Her quirkiness of analyzing things is pretty cute…

"I know he’s absolutely crazy about me. And I may have become a little crazy about him as well. The ventral tegmental area (VTA) of my brain has been triggered. A flood of the neurotransmitter dopamine has been released into my brain’s pleasure centers. And the result is a ‘lover’s high’ not unlike using cocaine, and some say just as addictive. That’s the neurobiology of falling in love.”

She addresses some really important issues, but weaves them so naturally into the story. You’ll cheer for Jesse and Sedona to overcome their hurdles. You’ll even feel the heartbreak of unrequited love (nope, no spoilers here).

This book is a solid 4.5 stars!

Wow – this book was so much more than “the brainy/nerdy girl tutors the star athlete/jock and against all odds they fall in love” story. There was so much going on in this book that added so many different layers to the story, all of which made this a really good read.

Even though Sedona is brilliant and nerdy and slightly off-beat, I love the fact that she’s far from sheltered. Growing up in a collective has certainly influenced many of her lifestyle and behavior choices – she’s a vegan and rarely buys anything new since she’s a firm believer in re-use and repurpose – but that doesn’t mean she’s led a sheltered life.

Jesse may be a star athlete on the court, but in the classroom he’s facing a huge challenge – pass his classes or be benched from the team. Jesse sees basketball as the only option for him to have a better life, so he knows how important it is for him to pass – even though he’s been keeping a secret that makes passing the class almost impossible.

When Sedona loses her job at the library due to an unfortunate accident and a less than sympathetic boss, she’ forced to take on the task of tutoring athletes – and is not thrilled to find out she has been assigned to one of the bad boys of the basketball team, Jesse Walker. The only one less thrilled with her new job is her roommate Lewis, her best friend since she started college, someone who’s been like the brother she never had…at least that’s how Sedona sees things…

“Not that it’s any of your business at all, but Lewis is my best friend. And no, we’re not friends with benefits.”

Jesse leans in so close I can smell his spicy aftershave. The fact that his closeness makes me tingly all over pisses me off even more than his general assholery.

“I’m willing to bet he wants to be.”

When Jesse makes it clear that he’d like more from tutoring from Sedona, she knows she’ll be just another notch on his bedpost. As Jesse and Sedona grow to trust each other and learn things about each other, it’s clear that things sometimes aren't always what they seem, and sometimes doing what’s right may not always be the same as doing the right thing…especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

Throw in a roommate who may be harboring a case of unrequited love and a mother who has never revealed to Sedona who her father is and why he is not in their lives, and you have a story filled with drama, a bit of angst, and a whole lot of sweet – yeah, Jesse may just seem a little too good to be true!

And I would like to just give a shout out to the author for tackling the subject matter in this book – although Jesse’s secret doesn't monopolize or overwhelm the story, it is handled well and highlights some of the issues in our education system today. So thank you for highlighting something that is an issue and not romanticizing the problem.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I have read quite a few of Dakota Madison's books and have always enjoyed her stories.
Interference is another sports romance book, but this time the story is focused on basketball.
Jesse is a hot basketball player. He's at college and he's adored and loved by everyone because of his talent and charm, but that's just the Jesse that he wants the world to see. The "real" Jesse is a very nice, loyal, loving, patient, sweet man whose incredible vulnerable. I liked his character instantly. You could see the cocky man whore player that he was pretending to be very clearly, but you could also see underneath all his act the sweet man. I wanted to learn more about the " real" Jesse as he was the character I could relate to, sympathise and understand. I didn't like the "fake" Jesse that he forced himself to be for the players on the team and I didn't understand why he couldn't be his real self and still be liked and part of the team?!
Jesse has a very promising future in basketball, but he's failing in school and is holding a huge secret that could end his career and makes him out up his barriers of the cocky basketball player to cope.
Sedona is the complete opposite of Jesse. She's not into sports. She wants to focus on school and is considered to be "nerdy". She's considered boring and is happy with that title, but she is very strong. She doesn't care if she's "labelled", Sedona is who she is and is happy within herself.
Sedona ends up having to tutor Jesse after she gets injured and needs money desperately. They both manage to turn each other's worlds up side down.
There relationship isn't a typical relationship and defiantly doesn't start out right. Jesse and Sedona clash immediately. There's a lot of angst, tension and frustration as a reader when reading about the 2 people. They both have so much to get over and Jesse's huge secret to deal with. As well as all the frustration there is around them both being both different people who hang around in different circles of people.
The story flows nicely and secrets and revelations were perfectly timed to keep the story going and the reader interested. The mystery behind Jesse's secret defiantly kept me interested and I loved the fact that Sedona was a "nerd" but that she didn't care about it. She was happy in her own skin and was a strong character.
When the secrets all come out Sedona and Jesse's relationship is tested and I didn't no if there relationship could make it? Sedona is the strong person in the relationship and I liked that a book changed the roles around to make the 'nerdy" girl the strong character, rather than making her the weak and messed up character.
The book was emotional, but I didn't need my tissues. This book was as good as any of the other books by the author that I have previously read. The only downside of the books is I wished the stories were longer so we got more from the characters.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

Sedona needs a job and tutoring is the only thing available. Before she even starts people are warning her that her job is to tutor and that's it. First it's when she meets the Director of the Athletic Academic Center:
“Sometimes we get young woman who apply for tutoring jobs because they want to be up close and personal with the athletes, if you get my drift.

”I cock my head to one side and give it some thought, but come up empty. “Not really.”

“This isn’t an express lane to getting on the girlfriends’bench at the home games.”

Then again when her roommate Lewis finds out she will be tutoring an athlete:
“This is serious.”He points a finger at me for emphasis. Then he points to the headline: The Bad Boys of Basketball. “

So? What’s your point? The guys are wild. A lot of college students are. We’re kind of the exception. Most students don’t spend their weekends eating popcorn and watching old movies. They party. I know you know that."

”He reads from the article: “The Javelinas new starting lineup has already taken the university by storm. The team is positioned to charge straight to the national championship with their new players. With his rugged good looks and seemingly endless charm, Freshman Jesse Walker has already developed a reputation as the guy every girl on campus wants to date. And his roommate, Samuel Washington, is just as hot on and off the court…Do I need to go on?”

Sedona goes to her first meeting with Jesse and she can immediately tell that this is going to be a tough job. Jesse is charming and can pretty much talk his way out of any situation. Before she knows it they are having study sessions at his apartment where they spend most of the time talking and not studying. I won't give away the big twist, but I will say that all the signs are there.

I really liked Jesse. He didn't live up to anybody's idea of him and I found that be very refreshing. He was just a guy who saw basketball as a way to get out of a bad situation. Luckily for him he meets Sedona who likes him for him, not the basketball player. It becomes clear that he has never had that before and you can tell that he is so grateful to have Sedona in his corner.

This book was a pleasant surprise. I've never read any of Dakota Madison's books so I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a wonderful story that a ripped from the headline element to it. And it's okay if you are unaware of the news story she has based this book on. There is an author's note at the end that explains everything. (I just happen to be a fan of the college mentioned so I caught on right away.)

DOUBLE REVIEW

This is a read that you’ll not want to put down once you've started – it sucks you right in! Sedona is a brilliant beautiful young woman who no one notices because of her eccentric style. Jessie is the star basketball player that every woman wants to “get to know.” Sedona and Jessie meet when Sedona is assigned as his tutor. Sedona spends most of her time frustrated with Jessie because he refuses to read his textbooks and she doesn't think he’s taking his classes seriously. Little does she know Jessie has a big secret…
Jessie isn't the playboy that everyone seems to think he is - he wants one woman and that's Sedona.

This is an amazing read – there isn't a whole lot I can say without giving away major plot points but this book touches on a subject that I think doesn't get enough recognition and for that I applaud the author. It’s very well written and a real page turner. The characters are relatable and I look forward to reading more from this author.

~Lee'Anne

I loved this book!

I love a good college book, with great characters and a hot athlete or two! This book has all that. Sedona is a senior in college. With studying and walking she get hit by a car and ends up bruising the arm she uses to stack books in her job at the library. Not being able to keep her job she applies to work as a tutor for the athletic department. Needing money to keep her apartment with her best friend Lewis and to survive she takes the job that she doesn't really want. Sedona meets Jesse needs help in his history of jazz class. Instantly they have a lot of chemistry and they make a cute couple. Its easy to see that Jesse is smitten with Sedona even if she doesn't want to admit it to herself. The plot twist is saw coming but it was still a really great book. The characters a great and there is a solid story. My only complaint would be the ending but i could put that aside and say to each is own. i would have preferred a different ending but i didn't write the book. Beside that this book deserves all Four Stars! I wish this was a series because i would love to have a book from some of the other characters. I look forward to reading more for Ms. Madison

4 STARS!!!

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

Straight out of the gate - the blurb - I knew I'd like it. Brilliant nerdy girl meets college superstar jock. I'm mean really? Who wouldn't love that? But, to my surprise, this went a bit deeper than just a college romance. I found myself rooting for the characters while their secrets came to light and I was really drawn in by the dynamics of the relationships. The hush-hush tone of one of the situations was one I won't forget. The best part of it all - the great Dakota Madison touches real world problems. Problems not thought of or discussed often enough.

<
"You're the only person who has ever said that. You're the only person who has ever seen me as anything other than a basketball player."

Sedona and Jesse were great characters. Sedona, a neuroscience student, was terrific! She was nerdy, eccentric, vegan and material things didn't matter. Everything she ever had in life was second-hand - which I totally dug! I found myself smiling as I read her voice. She had a dry sense of humor and didn't take anyone's shit. Even Jesse!

Jesse was an interesting character for me. Here was this college athlete. Basketball superstar for the college and he was only a freshman. He was sexy and a bit obsessive/possessive. But with he was also considerate, thoughtful and sweet. Jesse had this bad-boy vibe but when he meets Sedona, she finds out that not all rumours are true.

Between the banter, a roommate with a secret, the mom with a bigger secret - the there was a super journey. Taking two people/characters, from different walks of life, and putting them into a situation where trust is a must, they discover so much more about themselves then they ever would have alone.

<
"Awkward did not even begin to describe our pairing. We're like two people from different planets trying to communicate when we don't speak each other's languages."

I found this book pulling at my heart-strings. It's a fact paced read and a bit predictable at times but I enjoyed it!! This was my first book from this author and it won't be my last!!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I found that this book started out interesting, but eventually faded. I was excited to be reading a book worm and jock fall in love romance. I thought I would really enjoy both characters, but I ended up not meshing well with who they turned into. Sedona came off as a clumsy, book worm that I could see making me laugh. “It all happens so fast: the screeching of breaks; someone pushing me out of the way; landing on the pavement with a loud thud; books and papers from my bag flying everywhere; excruciating pain shooting up my arm; and tears streaming down my face as I realize that I’ll probably be late to work.” This was a laugh out loud moment. I figured it would be the pain causing the tears, not work. Sadly, I ended up not enjoying her personality as much as the story progressed. She came off as more of a feminist / “I’m above everyone else” type person. Her character lost the humor. I like how protective Jesse was of Sedona, but he ended up coming off as overly insecure. I like when guys are completely fixed on their girl, but Jesse gave off a more desperate tone. He needed more confidence, but I do like how Sedona stood her ground and didn’t give in at every turn, like characters in other books have. That always drives me crazy. It was annoying how Jesse felt the need to keep correcting his language. Sedona needed to either get over herself and let him swear or he needed to catch on faster and not repetitively make the same mistake. I caught on to what the big secret was pretty swiftly. I was hoping that it would be something more exciting when I finally got to it, but it ended up seeming too juvenile for me. There was a shortage of steamy scenes. There were a couple that had potential, but needed a lot more detail. I haven’t read any books where the male character is less experienced. It was interesting to read, but I’m not sure I really liked it. Love triangles always bring drama, and I love it! I would’ve been okay with a little more. Overall, this book had its ups and downs. I found it to be worth reading, though!

Dakota Madison called this "A short on time book, fast-paced novels for readers on the go!" and that is exactly what you get. A fun romance story in fast forward. Sure it feels rushed, however you aren't mad at the author for a cliffhanger or a book that goes on too long. It's just right.

Sedona is a smart girl. Graduating high school at sixteen, she is now a senior in college at only nineteen. She wants to go into the field of neuroscience, so school has been her life for as long as she can remember. Growing up in a communal family, Sedona isn't worried about what others think of the way she dresses or acts. She is comfortable in her skin and happy with her life. She's been living with Lewis as a roommate for the last year, who is also a gifted student in the music program. To say education is improtant to either of them would be putting it mildly.

Jesse isn't anything Sedona's heard or read about in the school newspaper. As the star of the basketball team, there is story after story about this womanizing wonder kid. To keep his spot on the team Jesse needs to keep his grades up, which isn't going so well for him at the moment. Enter Sedona, the tutor.

After an accident, Sedona has to leave her library job and decides to tutor athletes for a much needed income. She is paired with Jesse and the sparks fly. Well, not instantly, but they do. Jesse and Sedona get to know each other over the tutoring sessions and find out they have more in common than expected.

Over the weeks Sedona and Jesse get closer much to the dismay of Lewis the roommate who also has a thing for her. Factor in that, what is really going on with Jesse and what Sedona's mom has been hiding all of these years and you have quite the situation.

Dakota Madison did a great job at laying out the story and then quickly cleaning it all up, even giving her readers a nice epilogue as well. Great quick read.

Some authors you find their books are quite slow and hard to get into, then others you pick them up and keep reading and before you know it, they are finished. Dakota Madison is the latter. All her books are set in College Campus life and feature some sort of sports player that does not fit the norm of the world in some aspect. In Interference , we meet Sedona Miller - she grew up in a collective environment with just her mother Sunny and other families, and now at nineteen she is a college senior studying to be a NeuroScientist . When a klutzy accident causes her to injure her arm, she finds herself in a dire situation as her job at the library requires her to shelve books and the head librarian Alice hates her , so she is fired from that job. Desperate for a new job, she signs up for tutoring and gets paired with Jesse Walker who needs help in his History of Jazz Class. If he doesn't pass this class, then he will fail and won't be able to play basketball which is his whole future and the only thing he has going for him. So begins the tutoring sessions and as they spend more time together of course their chemistry that at first Sedona doesn't want to admit is there sizzles. As they study, Jesse gets all the questions correct , but his tests don't match that result ? What is Jesse's dark secret and why is he setting himself up to fail ? This part of the book made me tear up and it to be honest made me fall just a little bit harder for Jesse as it proved he wasn't just another playboy basketball player. Also in Interference, we discover the background on who Sedona's father truly is and why her mother hated jocks ?

If you love Geeks and Nerds are the New Sexy type books, then you will love Interference by Dakota Madison.

I feel like this book could have been so much better. The writing style wasn’t really doing it for me at times. The characters were good and I enjoyed the love triangle, I mean come on anyone with eyes could see that Lewis (Sedona’s bestfriend and roommate) has the hots for her. It was clear as day to me at least reading their conversations and their scenes. I don’t agree with the whole guys and girls can’t be friends without one wanting to sleep with the other or one of them being gay. To me that’s horse crap BUT in this case it was true.

Sedona is one of those girls who really doesn’t care what other people think. She is 19 years old and a senior in college. Yeap you read that correct. She doesn’t have time to stop and worry about other people and their opinions. That is until she gets fired from her library job and has to tutor a basketball player to make rent. Things don’t go exactly how she plans and she starts seeing Jesse, as more than a student she is tutoring and more as someone she would like to kiss. She has enough going on in her life than to actually be involved with someone. An absent father she never met, a mother who is hardly around now, and a roommate and bestfriend who is in love with her.

Jesse isn’t what he seems. Sure he is a well known basketball player and knows it, but once you get to know him he isn’t anything like what you would think. With all the girls throwing themselves at him you would think he would be taking them up on the offer, but there is only one person he wants in his bed and that’s Sedona, and she isn’t anything like the girls he is known for dating.

Will their tutor sessions turn into more? Or will they flame out like Jesse’s grades? Read it to find out!!!

Sedona is studying to be a neuroscientist, and she only has eight weeks left to complete her undergraduate course when her world comes "crumbling down" around her. She injures her arm in a car accident, and then she gets fired from her job at the library. Her flatmate, Lewis Armstrong, suggests she gets a job tutoring college athletes. That's how she meets basketball player Jesse Walker, "the guy every girl on campus wants to date". But is his bad boy reputation really warranted? Jesse is more interested in playing basketball than learning, but is there perhaps another reason for his apparent lack of interest in studying? Although Sedona and Jesse have nothing in common, they grow closer while Lewis becomes more distant. It turns out Lewis is hiding a secret as well. When Sedona's mother, Sunny, finds out about her daughter's relationship with Jesse, she fears that Sedona will end up following in her footsteps. What is the real story behind Sunny's single-mother status, and who is Sedona's father? And what secret will Sedona uncover that will threaten to bring them all down?

Interference is a very predictable book; I guessed all of the "secrets" right away. In addition, all of the problems are resolved way too easily. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the journey. Sedona and Jesse are likable characters and, as unlikely a couple as they are, you can't help but root for their happiness. Support characters Mr and Mrs Armstrong are hilarious. I also enjoyed Sedona's neurobiological explanations about falling in love.

A light, easy, entertaining read.

Independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.

Sedona loses her job after an accident means she can't shelve books. Landing a tutoring gig seems an easy option. But Jesse has worked his way through 2 tutors in as many weeks. He's a basketball player, and thats all he wants to do. But He needs to pass The History of Jazz to stay playing. Sedona discovers a sercet that could cost him his career, or could cost her his love.

When I'm sent a book to read, the first thing I do, is toodle off to Gooreads and/or Amazon to read the blurb, and a few reveiws. This book has a lot of four and five star reviews, so I thought, yeah, gonna be good.

Its not bad, by any means but not really awesome. Its a NICE book. A nice story, with nice characters, with a nic flow and a nice ending. It just wasn't the five star read I was expecting.

The blurb says a "spicy sports romance". It has sports, and it has romance, but I didn't get so much of the spice. It has HEAT, yes, but not so much of the spice. Its also a single person POV, and ya'll know how I feel about those!

I DID like the twist to the "hot sports star having lots of women" theme. AND I did get Jesse's secret very early on, but I liked that. I liked that I could see it all unravelleing under his nose. I LOVED the Sedona's mum and the coach twist! Loved that, did NOT see that coming.

All in all, a nice easy read, nothing too complicated or dramatic, a hand over cure, if a little longer than the usual ones. Its billed as 216 pages on Amazon, but it didn't feel that long, to me, anyway.

3.5 Stars. A story with so much potential

I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

I liked Sedona's story. This was a quick, easy read. Sedona is a likable girl, very smart, a bit oblivious to many things. She had been raised in a commune, so her upbringing was non-traditional. The story started off with an accident that injures her arm, which lead to her losing her job at a library. She is preparing to graduate college at an early age, so she needs a job to help pay her bills. This leads her to taking a tutoring job to help the talented and attractive Jesse. He's a nice guy, despite Sedona's peers warning her away. Everyone thinks he's just a jock and a player because of the women that flock to him. Of course she does what everyone warns her not to. Add in that her roommate reveals his feelings, and you get a kind of messy love triangle. It's a sweet story without huge conflicts, and it was not an angst-ridden sob fest like so many new adult novels I have read. The story was fast paced and a bit predictable. It's a nice book to cozy up with on a cold evening. Once the big "secret" is revealed, the book rushes to an ending. In the wake of the scandals with universities happening currently, it's relevant to current events, and it makes you realize how someone's life would be touched by what is going on. I did enjoy the story; I just wish that so many things were expanded on and that we had a chance to get to know the characters a bit deeper.

Some books are just an absolute pleasure to read. Everything about them works – the plot, the characters and the way the romance unfolds. You’re lured into the author’s imaginary word world for a few hours and you’re delighted to be there. Interference was one those books for me. It was my first book from Dakota Madison and I loved it.

The two main characters Jesse and Sedona are both college students but they’re having completely different experiences. Jesse is a basketball star – he is adored, worshiped and wanted by everyone on campus. Sedona is at university for her education not a social experience. She might as well not even be on campus because the only people who know who she is are her professors and her best friend.

After reading the book blurb, I completely expected a typical sports romance book – arrogant jock and super sweet nerd fall in love against all odds. The End. But limiting the characters and the plot in this book to those stereotypes or assuming anything about this book is so freaking wrong. Both characters have more depth and experience then their ages would ever tell giving Interference a better than average storyline. They both surprised me.

Dakota’s tale about Jesse and Sedona falling in love is funny and sweet. Their chemistry and personalities are highly entertaining, making their story definitely worth reading.

I want sure what I expected from this when I read the blub and that may have been my first mistake because it delivered more than I thought possible.
Sedona is a go getting type of girl, someone who takes everything in her stride. Jesse Walker is everything that Sedona isn’t but what you see with this guy is definitely not what you get, you get so much more! He is a peach!
An injury forces Sedona to make a swift but needy change to her plans and she begins tutoring some of the athletes. Jesse is in need of her services this basketball player is everything you never expect but everything you could possibly want but can Sedona see it?
He is considerate and patient, doing everything he can to show Sedona that she is what he wants and needs but he hangs on to one secret that he should have given up and it has Sedona with a decision to make. There are so many questions that your head will spin but in my heart I knew what I wanted and I read with my fingers crossed hoping that I got it.
I loved Jesse, I love that he broke from the norm and showed that it takes a strong man to lay his heart on the line. Sedona was written to perfection, she really was the ultimate bookworm, oblivious to the chaos that ensued around her and as for Madison, well despite the fact I didn’t like his name, he was just such a nice guy – I hope we get to read a book bout him.

I was giving this book for a honest review.
If you want a read about how the nerdy girl gets the popular guy this is the story for you. This story was beautifully written. Sedona is a shy girl who always wanted to stay in the shadows because of how she grew up and Jessie was the star of the basketball team so as we know it is used to getting all the attention and all the girls. Sedona was a nerd and in she was completely satisfied with her life. All she needed was to get good grade, her one friend, and a plan for an amazing career in the future. An unfortunate event took place and left her with no choice but to tutor the Jesse. Jesse took me by surprise. He did not behavior like the average jock. He was a very sweet guy. He also had a secret that he wasn’t willing to share. Jesse wasn’t expecting to fall for his nerdy tutor, but he did. I loved the chemistry that Sedona and Jesse had with each other. No, matter how much Sedona pushed away he was not giving up.
Interference is an incredibly thought provoking book. It will keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loved sports romances, but do be warned that this one will stay in your heart and will make you look at the sports world through differently. I gave it this beautiful love story 4 stars.

Sedona is a unique gal who grew up in a unique way, living in a unique, unconventional environment.
Ingrained into her brain ‘Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose’ has made her into the type of person she is today.
Attending college, living with her bestie Lewis.
An accident throws a quirky wrench into her little, secluded & comfortable world.
Now leaving her with no other option but to take on tutoring for the sports department.
Which she would never ever do but desperation is calling annoyingly loud.
Jesse is a college star basketball player in need of tutoring to remain a star player.
He too grew up in a unique, unconventional environment. Having to basically fend for himself and his sisters, raising them, becoming a step in parent.
So nerdy, geeky Sedona tutors the big bad basketball star, Jesse.
The more time they spend together, unfamiliar, maybe even unwanted feelings pull them together. Opposites can attract right?
Negativity will follow them, obstacles thrown their way.
Jesse’s also keeping a majorly huge secret?!!
Will they allow outsiders and revelations to dictate their new-founded relationship??
Ending them before they even begin?
I really enjoyed this book. Strong first loves with a meaningful storyline always holds a special place for me.
I was graciously gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Interference is told from Sedona’s point of view, but how I wanted to know what Jesse was thinking.

Sedona is you typical smart girl. After being in an accident she looses her job. Wanting to be able to par bills she takes on being a tutor for athletes. Her old boss roommate doesn’t think she can do it, but she will prove them wrong.

When Sedona meets Jesse, she doesn’t fall all over him and actually wants to help him. When he brings her lunch, and she doesn’t eat it, because it’s beef and she is a vegetarian, Jesse goes out of his way to get her something she likes. As they continue to work together feelings start to form, but Sedona doesn’t know what to do. Jesse is the star basketball player and doesn’t want her.

What happens hen she starts to date Jesse and finds out that he is not the only guy who wants to be with her?

I truly enjoyed Interference. It was a cute and funny read. Letting you see Sedona come out of her shell. There is also a little bit of drama thrown in there, so that it’s not too cute, if you know what I mean. I can’t really say a whole lot with out given the plot away, but it is something you most definitely would want to read.

Neuroscience major Sedona Miller finds herself suddenly without a job in the middle of the college semester due to an unfortunate accident. Will to do just about anything to make sure she could pay her rent, she takes a job tutoring a member of the basketball team, Jesse Walker. Jesse is a superstar at the college and is used to getting his was on just about anything due to his talent on the basketball court. He finally meets his match when his new History of Jazz professor actually expects him to attend class and participate. However, Jesse has a big secret - one that could have major repercussions for everyone in his life.

Interference is an incredibly thought provoking book, one that illuminates a significant problem in our school system. Jesse's plight broke my heart and made me furious at the same time. I truly hope that this book is a work of fiction, but given the recent headlines, it appears that this problem is quite real. I love how Sedona was there for Jesse unconditionally and was able to support him through his plight. I love how quirky her character was. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loved sports romances, but do be warned that this one will leave footprints on your heart and will make you look at the sports world through different eyes.

I thought Interference was a very touching read. For me this was a fast read, maybe because I was really into the story. Sedona Miller is close to graduating college with a neuroscience degree at the young age of 19. She is Really Smart. Because she is so smart, she doesn't really have time for boys or a social life. She is kind of sheltered and a little weird.

Unfortunately, Sedona is also accident prone. When she hurts her arm, she loses her job at the school library. She finds a replacement job right away tutoring a college basketball player named Jesse Walker. Jesse is THE basketball player on campus. He is good looking and all the girls want him. Jesse take an immediate liking to Sedona (even though she doesn't realize it). Sedona doesn't seem to care much for school or learning. He is the complete opposite of Sedona. He is barely getting by in school.

The odd couple at it's best is right here. For some reason. even though they are complete opposites, it worlds for them. This was a sweet story about falling in love and exposing your true and honest self to the other person. Jesse holds a BIG secret. When he lets someone in, he realizes Sedona only wants to help to make him better, not use him for any other motives.

I love sedona and jesse. I really feel for Jesse because of his talent he was overlooked by his teachers and until Sedona he never felt a need to want better for himself. Sedona is a geek. A sweet nerdy geek. One that you would not expect to like Jesse. they are thrown together because she needs the job and he needs to pass. both stubborn and yet cute and precious as they get to know one another and fall for each other. Jesse is a smart guy just never really seen for his mind just his talent on the basketball court. Too bad because he is nice underneath it all and he loves Sedona. I thought Louis was sweet. Poor guy though and I understand his desire to for distance. I would love to see his story in another book where he finds someone because he so deserves it. He understands Sedona because they are similar in nature but Sedona is more of a free spirit due to her bringing up. A cute sweet romance but also with a message that rings home. You will love the characters and their quirks. Even when they drive you nuts with their preconceived notions of others. You see them bloosom and show strength in ways you wouldn’t expect to see. A romance you hope all goes well and will have you smile as you read about this unlikely couple finding love with each other when they least expect it.
